When I See Him TURNER

In October a good friend of mine’s granddaughter passed away. When we received the call, we were told that she had committed suicide. I was saddened and troubled by that. Then I received news that it was being investigated as a possible homicide. Basically, the family has been left in limbo. In my heart I’m holding on to the idea of her death being a tragic accident or even a homicide. I never want to imagine anyone taking their lives.

From day to day, we live our lives not knowing how others are doing on the inside. I often find myself thinking about certain individuals. However, I find it difficult to put forth the effort to check on those individuals. I always have good intentions towards reaching out; but the day gets busy, and time just slips away. Recently I made a vow when someone falls on my heart or in my thoughts, I say a prayer. Then I make a note to send a message of some kind. You never know what someone may be going through and what your message could do for an individual. The Bible tells us in Galatians 6:2 NKJV, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” As we grow as Christians and have the strength, we are to help carry each other’s loads and give those loads to Jesus.

God wants us to have community and establish community towards others. As a Christian our purpose is to be a light and to tell a dying world about a living Savior. I have a coworker and I love her so much. We were talking the other day and she said, “I’m bringing Jesus into this building.” I told her that she brings Jesus everyday with her when she comes to work. Because He lives and dwells inside of her, I told her that she can’t allow others to disturb her light. She’s the light and she has to allow her light to shine so that others can see. We may never know who needs to see the light that we are shining. My prayer is that God will help my light brighten someone’s day; because we don’t know who is struggling or what they are struggling with. We don’t know which day could be their last.

Be the light we were created to be. Let it shine bright so others in and out of darkness can see. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
