OUR FATHER

This month we celebrate, honor, and remember our Fathers. Fathers are a source of strength, support, and encouragement. We dedicate this month’s issue to our Fathers, Grandfathers, Godfathers, Spiritual Fathers, and those who stand in the gap as a father figure. They deserve to be honored for all they have done and all they do!

There will be those who will celebrate dad, because he has been there every step of the way. These fathers will be honored not just because they have supported their children but also because of their loving presence in their lives; but for some Father’s Day can be painful, a sad reminder of growing up without a father present in the home or being active in their lives. The pain of growing up fatherless can sometimes leave a scar that is hard to remove. There may even be some situations or circumstances that warrant the absence of dad, but to a child without a father these things or reasons mean nothing.

For every situation, circumstance or reason, your father was not there, there is someone who is more than able to fill that void. That someone is God, Our Heavenly Father. Though we all may not fall into the category of growing up without a father, I would like to say to those who grew up with a father present and to those who did not . . . there is one thing we all have in common, we all can claim Our Father which art in heaven. We all share the greatest Father of all, and He has never been an absentee dad.

Let me brag about Our Father. Our Father is omnipresent, He is with you at the same time He is with me, in fact He is everywhere at all times. Our Father is omniscient, He is the wisest of all, He knows everything about each one of us. Our Father is omnipotent, He is all-powerful, and He is able to do exceeding abundantly more than we could ever ask or think.

Our Father is a good provider, He supplies all of our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). Our Father is a protector; He is our shield and buckler (Psalm 91). Our Father is a comforter; He mends a broken heart (Matthew 5:4). Our Father is a healer; He restores our bodies (Psalm 103:3).

Our Father sounds like a pretty great dad to me. He is great and mighty. He is a friend that sticks closer than any brother. He loves each and every one of us unconditionally with the same amount of love. And let us not forget that Our Father loved us so much that He gave His only begotten son (Jesus) so that we would be able to live with Him eternally! (John 3:16)

I could go on and on but I believe the best thing about Our Father is He is whatever you need Him to be whenever you need Him. Whether or not your father is present or not, celebrate Father’s Day for no other reason, than the fact that without your father you would not exist today. And as we celebrate our earthly fathers, honor and praise the Father of all creation our Heavenly Father; He has promised us, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Hebrews 13:5) After all, God is the Greatest Father of all time and we are His children forevermore!

Q&A Interview - Pastor Ke’Andre Lucas

G&G: Pastor Ke’Andre, we are excited to welcome you back to talk about your first summit The Secret Place? First tell us a bit about yourself and your journey into ministry?

Pastor Ke’Andre: First, I would like to say thank you for welcoming me back to Grace and Glory Magazine. I am beyond honored and excited to be featured on this month’s cover. My name is Ke’Andre Lucas. I am a devoted husband, a soon-to-be father, and Assistant Pastor to a wonderful body of believers at Victory Ministries of Christ—now known as Victory Global Ministries in the heart of West Baltimore.

My journey into ministry was simple yet powerful. God saved me on the very road I took to avoid Him. I literally ran into God while pursuing my own plans and agenda. Today, I can confidently say that submitting to and choosing Christ has been and continues to be the greatest decision I have ever made.

G&G: Pastor Ke’Andre, what was the vision and inspiration behind organizing this event- The Secret Place-Prayer and Worship Summit? Why prayer and worship?

Pastor Ke’Andre: I have wrestled with the Secret Place theme for several years. This theme was birthed from Psalm 91:1: “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” In 2021, the Lord allowed me to release my first book, entitled The Secret Place. This book revealed the secrets and provided direction on how to enter into God’s presence. Now, in 2025, we are preparing for the birthing of the Secret Place Summit/Revival here in Baltimore, Maryland.

awakening a deep encounter with God’s presence that transforms lives. I want people to leave the summit renewed in their faith, filled with hope, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to live boldly. I pray for miracles, healing, and breakthroughs that testify to God’s power and love. Ultimately, I want this summit to be a catalyst for lasting revival in individuals, families, churches, and communities. How can people prepare their hearts to get the most out of this event? To prepare, I encourage everyone to come with open hearts and expectant spirits, ready to receive whatever God has in store. Set aside distractions, pray in advance, and seek God’s guidance daily leading up to the summit. Be willing to surrender old habits and embrace new levels of intimacy with God. Fasting or dedicating time for personal reflection can also help clear the way for deeper encounters. Most importantly, come with faith believing that God desires to move powerfully in your life.

Throughout my ministry, I have discovered that prayer is both my passion and my lifeline. Prayer is a secret in and of itself available to all but accessed by few. Considering the times we are living in, there is no greater topic to discuss than prayer.

G&G: What kind of impact are you hoping for at this summit? How can people prepare their hearts to get the most out of this event?

Pastor Ke’Andre: I am hoping for a profound spiritual

G&G: Can you give us an overview of what will take place during this summit — i.e. speakers, sessions, impartations, etc.?

Pastor Ke’Andre: This is a summit you won’t want to miss! Entitled “3 Days of Glory”, the summit leads us into Pentecost Sunday with great anticipation. We are expecting miracles, signs, and wonders to manifest as we gather in God’s presence. The 3 Days of Glory will feature two powerful evening services with dynamic speakers, including Apostle Jordan Brice-Conway and Bishop Marc House. In addition to the evening services, we will host impactful daytime sessions and impartation, led by Apostle Jekia Ledbetter and Apostle Darius Walton.

G&G: Pastor Ke’Andre, what’s your hope for what happens after this summit experience in individuals, in churches, in communities?

Pastor Ke’Andre: My hope is that after this summit, individuals will experience a renewed hunger and passion for God’s presence a deeper, more intimate prayer life

that transforms their daily walk. I pray that hearts will be ignited with a fresh fire, leading to lasting spiritual breakthroughs and a boldness to live out their faith authentically.

For churches, I hope this summit will spark a revival of prayer and worship that permeates every ministry and service. That leaders and congregations alike will be inspired to prioritize encountering God above all else, creating environments where the Holy Spirit moves powerfully and consistently.

In communities, I envision a ripple effect of healing, restoration, and unity. As believers are transformed, their impact will extend beyond church walls bringing hope to the broken, outreach to the unreached, and light into places overshadowed by despair.

Ultimately, my prayer is that this summit will mark the beginning of a movement a continuous awakening that revives individuals, revitalizes churches, and renews entire communities for God’s glory.

G&G: How do you see events like this shaping the future of the Church, especially for the younger generation?

Pastor Ke’Andre: I believe that events like the Secret Place Summit will set the standard for the future when it comes to experiencing true freedom in God’s presence. The reality is that many in today’s generation no longer desire God or the church. However, I am convinced that a time is coming when the presence of God alone will be more than enough to draw broken and wounded hearts back to Christ and into the house of God.

G&G: Pastor Ke’Andre, this being a prayer and worship summit, how have you personally experienced the power of prayer and worship in your own life?

Pastor Ke’Andre: Absolutely I have experienced the presence of God in a powerful way through prayer and worship. I remember as a child going with my mother once a week to a prayer and impartation service in Newark,

Delaware. These gatherings were far from typical church services; they often lasted around five hours and were filled solely with prayer, worship, and impartation.

For many, that kind of service might have seemed exhausting or overwhelming, but for me, it became a training ground a place where I was introduced to the depth and hunger for God’s presence.

G&G: What encouragement would you give to someone who is struggling with their prayer life or feels distant from God in worship?

Pastor Ke’Andre: First, know that you’re not alone. Even the strongest believers go through dry seasons where prayer feels difficult and worship feels distant. But the beauty of God’s love is that it’s not based on our feelings it’s based on His faithfulness.

1. Start where you are, not where you think you should be. God isn’t waiting for a perfect prayer—He’s waiting for an honest one. Talk to Him simply and sincerely. Even saying, “God, I don’t know what to say, but I want to be close to You again,” is a powerful prayer.

2. Silence is not distance. Just because you don’t feel Him doesn’t mean He’s absent. God often does His deepest work in silence. Keep showing up. He honors your faithfulness, even in the quiet.

3. Worship is more than a song. Worship is a posture of the heart. You don’t have to feel goosebumps to be worshiping. Just lifting your hands or whispering, “You are worthy,” in a hard moment is a powerful act of surrender.

4. Go back to your “training ground.” Revisit the moments or places where you first encountered God— whether it’s a Scripture, a song, or a memory. Sometimes returning to your roots rekindles the fire.

5. Ask the Holy Spirit for help.You were never meant to pray or worship in your own strength. Romans 8:26 reminds us, “The Spirit helps us in our weakness... He intercedes for us.” Invite Him in.

Finally, don’t give up. Keep pressing in. Your hunger pleases God more than your perfection. And often, breakthrough comes just after the point where you feel like giving up.

G&G: Pastor Ke’Andre, will this summit be a one-time event or part of a growing movement?

Pastor Ke’Andre: No, this will not be a one-time event rather, it marks the beginning of something great that will take place every year, until the Lord says otherwise.

G&G: Pastor Ke’Andre, while we have you let’s talk a little about legacy and transfer. What is your personal understanding of legacy as a young pastor?

Pastor Ke’Andre: As a young pastor, my understanding of legacy centers on the idea of transfer—not just of possessions or titles, but of vision, values, and spiritual anointing. Legacy is the intentional passing on of what God has entrusted to me: the wisdom, the passion for prayer and worship, the love for the lost, and the commitment to faithfulness.

I see legacy as a living, breathing thing that is cultivated through relationships, mentorship, and consistent example. It’s less about what I accomplish alone and more about what I empower others to do long after I’m gone. Legacy means planting seeds today with the confidence that God will bring growth tomorrow through others.

Being young, I feel both the weight and the privilege of carrying forward the foundation laid by those who came before me, while also innovating and adapting to reach the current generation. Legacy is about honoring the past while boldly stepping into the future God is calling me toward.

G&G: Do you feel a sense of responsibility to carry forward the legacy of those who came before you in ministry?

Pastor Ke’Andre: Absolutely, I do feel a deep sense of responsibility to carry forward the legacy of those who came before me in ministry. Their sacrifices, prayers, and unwavering faith laid the foundation that many of us stand on today. I often think about the elders who prayed when no one was watching, who worshipped when it wasn’t popular, and who remained faithful through trials. Carrying that legacy isn’t about imitation, it’s about continuation. It’s about honoring the past by embracing

the same passion for God’s presence and passing it on to the next generation. I believe we are called to not only preserve that legacy but to expand it, allowing God to do even greater things through us, just as Jesus said in John 14:12: “Greater works than these shall you do…”

G&G: Was there a specific moment when you realized you were part of a legacy bigger than yourself?

Pastor Ke’Andre: The moment I realized I was part of a legacy bigger than myself was when I saw my young nephew worship with the same strong desire for God that I had as a child. His passion and hunger for God changed my perspective I understood that I must accomplish great things and break barriers so that he and others can stand on my shoulders and achieve what I never could.

G&G: Pastor Ke’Andre, lastly, what kind of legacy do you hope to leave—both as a person and as a pastor?

In what ways are you intentionally shaping that legacy today?

Pastor Ke’Andre: As a person, I want to be remembered as someone who loved deeply, served humbly, and lived with integrity someone whose life reflected the grace and truth of Jesus Christ. I hope my legacy will be one of faithfulness, kindness, and a heart that pursued God relentlessly, even in the midst of challenges.

As a pastor, I desire to leave a legacy of raising up authentic, Spirit-filled disciples who know how to encounter God personally and carry His presence into the world. I want to be known for shepherding people into a deeper relationship with Christ, empowering them to walk in their God-given purpose and calling.

How am I intentionally shaping that legacy today? I’m committed to daily spiritual disciplines prayer, study, and worship that keep me rooted and growing. I invest time in mentoring emerging leaders, passing on wisdom, and encouraging others to walk boldly in their faith. I strive to lead with humility and transparency, modeling a life surrendered to God’s will. And I make it a priority to listen to God, to my community, and to the needs around me so that my ministry remains relevant and impactful.

Understand The Cost TURNER

Now that my daughters are growing up, we feel like they’re at the age to understand the value of money and responsibility. There are a couple of guidelines that have been established in our household.

Two of the four have jobs and the younger two always seem to have money. With keeping the value of money in mind here are some things we’ve implemented. I no longer buy personal hygiene items unless you are completely broke, I buy needs and not wants. I don’t buy friends’ birthday gifts; I wasn’t invited to your friend’s party you were. The implementation that I love the most is I no longer have to cook every day. Dad takes care of cooking on Mondays and

the older two have different days where they are responsible for providing dinner for the family.

On this one occasion my husband and I thought that having the younger two take a day was a great idea. We called a family meeting, and the discussion was about dinner and what they wanted to buy. The room got extremely quiet and the younger two started asking questions like what’s in the refrigerator to eat, how much is this or how much is that. At that moment they truly saw the value of money.

After deliberations we decided to go to Culver’s and get kids meals for the family and yes, I said Kids Meals. We’re discussing the price of a hamburger meal versus a cheeseburger meal. My 2nd to the youngest blurted out, “We got cheese in the refrigerator. Whoever wants a cheeseburger can get their cheese from the house.” We all fell on the floor laughing and she was so serious. She was like what are y’all laughing at I’m serious. The difference was about 50 cents; she didn’t see the cost of 1 but she added up the cost of 6 which was $3 and that could go into her savings.

Sometimes we forget what the cost is for salvation. Even though it didn’t truly cost us nothing, we take the cost for granted. Jesus paid the price that we so effortlessly throw away. It’s so easy to disregard something that you didn’t have to pay for. When someone else buys it for you, the handling of the item may not require much care to you.

As Christians we need to understand the cost. By understanding the cost it allows you to see the value and to take care of the life that we are given.

Living Through Loss

May and June can be difficult months for those who have lost their loved ones. Mother’s and Father’s Day are often dates where people struggle for many reasons. Some are reminded of the absence of their loved ones. Others are troubled because they may be estranged from a parent due to abuse, mistreatment or abandonment. And others may be disconnected due to choices they have made to protect their peace, privacy or any number of reasons that may discourage them from connecting with their loved one. Adjusting to losing a parent whether physically or emotionally is a life changing event. It

transitions your identity and sometimes can reinvent your purpose. Grief is personal and there is no timetable for it. Comparing your grief and loss journey to that of another family member or friend does not lessen the impact of the loss. Learning to stay on the path of healing that is best for you is the most helpful way to process your feelings and shapes your attitude towards the loss. Sometimes fear, panic and despair set in as the reality of the loss hits home. This shock can happen over the years. Sometimes you will be just fine and then there will be days that you say to yourself, “This can’t be real”.

Cherishing the memories of your loved one and

making the most of them is one way to get through the difficult days. It is also helpful to honor them by donating to their favorite charity, planting flowers, volunteering in the community or finding other meaningful ways to pay tribute to them. Your parents may be gone or not available to you, due to illness, incarceration or addictions, but you can focus on the path forward. Losing loved ones can be a turning point and lead to more impact in the days and months to come. Be the parent or friend that helps their loved ones through their grief journey. It is possible to live through loss when you rely on your faith in God, the support of others and the resilience within you.

Rest…Recover…Reclaim!

This is a critical season in your life. You may ask why I describe it as critical. Have you ever experienced or witnessed someone who was hospitalized, and you were told that they were in critical condition? Initially, it can make your heart skip a beat because you know that’s a time where not only are they under intense doctors’ care, but as much as you would like to fix it you know that only God can turn the situation around.

Critical condition is not necessarily a bad thing. If you think about it, not only are you totally dependent upon the Lord, but you also give way for His power to be made perfect in your weakness. It is a time of complete stillness and trust. It is also a time when you are truly grateful for the many things that we can easily take for granted. Are you in critical condition? Are you at a crossroads in your life right now? Are you in a place where the only visitor allowed in your room is the Holy Spirit, and the host of God’s Angels?

I bring good news. The Lord has not forgotten His promises and covenant that He has for you. What has boggled the minds of doctors, family and friends has not confused God. He knows exactly the remedy for your condition. Maybe the Lord needed you to rest for a moment. Maybe He has been trying to speak with you to make things clear concerning your calling and destiny. Maybe the Lord does not want you to trust in titles or possessions, maybe His desire is that you see Him as your source and only source. I think it is a great thing that He is monitoring your heart. Remember what the bible says in Proverbs 4:23, “Above all

else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Can you trust that what looks critical in the eyes of man is elevation in the eyes of God?

In this season of your life, you may feel weak, but you are not. In this season of your life, you may feel insignificant, but angels are all around you. In this season of your life, you may feel alone, but the Lord’s presence continues to be your help, strength, and comfort. This is not the time to be dismayed. Even if the pain is so great that you cannot muster the strength to pray, remember the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. (Romans 8:26-27).

Even in critical condition, you are completely covered! The blood of Jesus covers you. The grace of God covers you. The word covers you. I do believe, by faith, that your latter days shall be better than your former days, and just when others are ready to pull the plug, uncommon miracles will be your testimony. If you feel in any way that you are in critical condition, be encouraged. This is a turning point in your life. You will recover all! Man may give up on you, but God has you exactly where He needs you to be. Remember, this is your time to rest, recover and reclaim!

DAY 1

Do you know that the Lord trusts you so much that He has given you access to information that He has not given to others? A better question would be do you know why you have been given this privilege, why the lord would trust you with such precious and top-secret information? It is because you are ready. You have a heart that is open and is turned to Him. You have proven to Him that you can handle what is revealed to you. Not everyone can be trusted with God’s secrets, but you can.

Challenge: Today challenge yourself to keep your eyes and ears open. Be ready at all times for the new information that the Father is ready to tell you.

Matthew 13:10-11 (MSG), The disciples came up and asked, “Why do you tell stories?” He replied, “You’ve been given insight into God’s kingdom. You know how it works. Not everybody has this gift, this insight; it hasn’t been given to them. Whenever someone has a ready heart for this, the insights and understandings flow freely.

DAY 2

People are watching us. Our coworkers, our employees, our students, our family members, they are all watching the things we say, how we carry ourselves, and how we treat others. They have taken notes of our consistent behavior of love and loyalty. They notice our smile every day and our pleasant demeanor. They take inventory of our encouraging words, and because they are aware of these things they also notice when things seem off or uncharacteristic of our normal behavior.

Challenge: Today challenge yourself to be mindful of your consistent behavior asking yourself, “Is this what I want people to remember me by?” And if not, then make any necessary adjustments.

Matthew 13:27, The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’

DAY 3

We may never know the long-term impact that our smile, encouraging words, hugs or pat on the back may have on someone. The truth is that we do these things as a natural part of who we are. At times it’s so natural that we don’t really even consider the other person at all. But to the person on the reaching side of your kindness it may make all the difference in the world; it could change the tone of their whole day.

Challenge: Today challenge yourself to intentionally sow kindness into someone’s life knowing that your seed will result in an incredible harvest.

Matthew 13:31-32, He told them another parable: “The

kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

DAY 4

What do you place value on and how much is it worth to you? You will know what you place high value on when you can live without everything else and have only that. If your prized possession is your family, will you give up your career for it? Will you forgo traveling and extra spending to save for a home? Is life experience more valuable to you than the college experience? The value of something or someone will become very clear to you when you are forced to choose between it and something else that you want.

Challenge: Today challenge yourself to think about what you can and cannot live without and decide if it is worth it.

Matthew 13:45-46 (MSG), Or, God’s kingdom is like a jewel merchant on the hunt for exquisite pearls. Finding one that is flawless, he immediately sells everything and buys it.

DAY 5

There will be times when we desperately want to be by ourselves. We have given and given of our time and energy to others, and now all we desire is a moment for ourselves to process all that has happened, but because of the compassion that we have for others in need, we choose to sacrifice what we rightfully deserve in order to help them. It’s in these moments that we realize that others need us more than we need us. We are stronger than we think. We are built to last longer than we imagined. It’s in those moments that we see what we are made of. Do we retreat or do we catch a second wind and look at the greater good we could be doing? The more we help others the greater our compassion grows when we see a need. The greater our compassion grows, the more we help. It’s a cycle that fuels itself and fuels us to keep going even when we want a break.

Challenge: Today challenge yourself to push beyond what you think are your natural limitations in order to help someone in need and stretch your compassion to the next level.

Matthew 14:13-14, When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

June is Men’s Health Month

Every June, the month is used to encourage young and old men to prioritize their health. For the faith community, it’s also a time to reflect on how honoring our bodies is part of honoring God.

As believers, we recognize that our lives are sacred trusts. Caring for our physical, mental, and emotional well-being is not just wise, it’s an act of faithful stewardship.

Men are statistically less likely to visit doctors, seek preventive care, report symptoms, or talk openly about emotional struggles. However, men are more likely to develop conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, and depression.

The Bible calls us to pursue wholeness in every area of life. Proverbs 3:7-8 teaches:“Fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.”

Men, on average, live five years less than women, according to CDC data. Heart disease, cancer, and accidents top the list of the most common causes of death among men. Conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, and depression can often be managed or even prevented with routine care, healthy lifestyle changes, and awareness—but only if men take the steps to engage with their health early and consistently.

Family and close friends must encourage and support men to make and keep healthcare appointments.

Men of God, take the time in June to reset your priorities and focus on your health. Take steps toward wellness. Be intentional in setting and keeping doctor’s appointments for routine checkups and screening tests. Checkups should include blood work for cholesterol, blood pressure checks, prostate exams, and colonoscopies. Early screening saves lives. Set a goal to make health lifestyle changes. Engage in regular exercise. Begin slow and steady with casual walking. Park your car at least 10 spaces from the

door of your office. Walk around the block at lunch or after dinner. Always check with your physician before engaging in rigorous exercise. Add additional helpings of fruits and vegetables to your diet. Substitute an extra vegetable for bread. Limited alcohol use and quitting tobacco all play key roles in long-term health.

Addressing stress, anxiety, and depression is just as important as monitoring physical health, yet it often goes ignored in men due to stigma. Seek counseling if needed. A few sessions can significantly improve your feelings, thoughts, and sleep. Your body is a precious gift from God. Avoid being isolated during stressful times. The church is not just a place for spiritual renewal. It’s a place for healing support. Men’s group fellowships can be lifelines.

Men’s Health Month is not just for men but for everyone. Wives, children, pastors, and friends can play a critical role in supporting the health of male loved ones. Wear blue on Father’s Day to show support for the men in your life.

Let us pray for our men:

Heavenly Father,

This Men’s Health Month, we lift up all men—young and old—and ask for Your grace as they seek health in body and spirit.

Give them wisdom to care for themselves, courage to seek help, and strength to persevere. Bring healing to the sick, rest to the weary, and peace to the anxious.

Let their health be a testimony to Your goodness. May they honor You in every step toward wholeness.

Deborah Thompson Smith age 73 and Lula Henderson age 90

Pastor White: Deborah and Lula, what inspired you to start your healthy living and lifestyle?

Deborah Thompson Smith: The people that I am around at the gym. They inspire me to keep on going. I desire to stay healthy. I love having a healthy body.

Lula Henderson: When I retired, I desired to help young women become more involved in dance and exercise. After losing my husband I started teaching aerobics, it gave me a chance to give back to the community. I developed a saying, “Motion is Lotion”, that I would have each class recite. After my retirement I had a desire to help young women in the recreation center. I wanted to do something for the young girls, so I started a dance class, then I taught aerobics. I started working with women in the community; working with them to help them stay healthy.

Pastor White: How long have you been working out?

Deborah Thompson Smith : I have been exercising for over 50 years.

Lula Henderson: I have been working out for 70 years, I started in my 20’s.

Pastor White: How has working out benefited your health?

Deborah Thompson Smith: I had breast cancer also, working out has done a lot for my body. Even during my bout with cancer, I still found time to work out. It helped me to lose weight, along with the benefit of meeting like-minded people. Lula Henderson: I had breast cancer several years ago, I was able to recover better than expected. I always receive compliments on how youthful I look. I have extra energy and stamina for my age.

Pastor White: How would you inspire people about getting fit. Deborah Thompson Smith: I would become an advocate for good health and suggest that you get a workout partner. I mentor the young ladies in my neighborhood. I inspire them to work out by my example.

Lula Henderson: When they see me and ask my age, look at me look and what I am doing. Many tell me I am their inspiration. They look at how healthy I am at age 90.

Pastor White: Has fitness helped you with your mental?

Deborah Thompson Smith: Yes, it relieves stress. I am still working so I make sure I get in a workout before I go to the office.

Lula Henderson: Yes. It helps you to deal with issues stress free. It also helps your memory.

Pastor White: How has exercise contributed to your longevity in life?

Deborah Thompson Smith: Yes, exercise does contribute to longevity. I often get compliments that I look younger than I am. I often hear compliments that I do not move like a person my age should move.

Lula Henderson: My heart is stronger, and my blood pressure is under control. Exercise makes you feel stronger. Longevity is a benefit but not a quick fix. You are not going to see your own results, others will. Exercise is a part of who I am now, I am not me if I do not exercise.

Pastor White: Deborah and Lula, lastly, what do you tell people when they say that they do not see any results?

Deborah Thompson Smith: You are not going to see your own results at first. It is not a quick fix, do not rush it. Exercise is there to extend your life. Get with people who are like-minded and can affirm you and your efforts.

Lula Henderson: Remove yourself from people who are negative about exercise. Stay true to yourself and remember that it takes time to be healthy. You must understand that exercise is a long-time investment.

Pastor White: This question is for the fitness trainer. What has your experience been like working with senior citizens?

Determination Fitness Ricardo Ford: One benefit of elderly people that exercise on a regular schedule is that routine exercise helps them to stay active. Another benefit is that routine exercise for the elderly strengthens their bones and their heart. Lastly, elderly people that exercise routinely can decrease dementia and it also develops longevity.

Poverty is a curse. The problem comes if we put our faith in money, rather than God. He alone is our Source! As Believers, we’re called to help the poor. We can’t do that if we ARE the poor. The struggle lifestyle is not a requirement. It is possible to be rich, live “the good life”, and also love and serve God!

Tip 2

In order to change our habits and accomplish all the things we desire, we’ll have to do things that are difficult, uncertain, or even scary... and we have to stick with it. We don’t quit. If one thing doesn’t work, we scrap that idea and move on to the next. Once we figure out what works, we keep on going! We’re likely already consistent in some habits that are NOT helping us achieve our goals, so consistency in the RIGHT things is vital. Persist in making the right choices to reach your goals!

Tip 3

As you’re on the journey to financial freedom, are you preparing like it’s going to happen? Or are you living like you’ll always be in the situation you’re in? A big part of being successful in anything is believing you can be! Start preparing for the newer car by taking care of the current one. Start prepping for the bigger house by finding and budgeting for the additional furniture you’ll need. Bottom line- if you believe something is going to happen, you get ready for it.
