Jesus’ Last Words 1 – Who Do You Seek? Grace Lutheran Bible Study 1. Christians often meditate on Jesus’ “last words”, the seven statements he spoke from the cross. But let’s not forget, those aren’t his last words. He rose from death and spoke again. He still speaks today. In this study, we’ll examine Jesus’ statements and interaction after his resurrection from the dead.
2. When have you found yourself “hanging on” someone’s words? What is it about them that made their words so compelling?
John 20:1-2 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb. She saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. 2 So she left and ran to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved. “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb,” she told them, “and we don’t know where they put him!” 3. At the start of the day, Mary Magdalene thought that her last interactions with Jesus would be ones of mourning for him at his grave. What kinds of words do you say at the grave of a loved one?
