The College opened and operated in classrooms owned by Grace Lutheran Primary School, Maine Road, Clontarf.
1983
Initially there were only two houses, Antares and Phoenix. In 1983, Orion and Pegasus were added.
2008
Campus opens. Rothwell Campus introduces Year 7.

The College moves to its present site with Mr Stolz as the first Headmaster.

This personalised approach supports students at every stage of their journey.
We understand the vital connection between wellbeing of learning and

A key feature of GEL is mentoring, where students from different year levels connect and support one another. These relationships build a strong sense of belonging and help continue the Grace legacy of care, connection, and community.
Our commitment to holistic care also extends to the Campus Health
and Wellbeing Centre, a welcoming and wellequipped space staffed by first aid officers, and counsellors. The Health and Wellbeing Centre provides professional support for students’ physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing.

At Grace Lutheran College, service learning is where faith comes to life—connecting classroom learning with purposeful action in the world beyond. Grounded in the Lutheran understanding of vocation and shaped by our Christian values, students are encouraged to look outward and respond with compassion, courage, and integrity to the needs of others.
Service learning at Grace is intentional, practical, and deeply rooted in faith. Across year levels, students engage in school, community-based and even international opportunities that promote servant leadership. These include planning and leading worship in chapels, organising school-wide events like
EXODAY, helping to run Unblock (a student-led year 12 retreat), and participating in our longstanding partnership with communities in Indonesia.
Students can also join the Faith and Service team, serve alongside local churches, or contribute to community initiatives such as environmental care, volunteering, and fundraising for causes that reflect the heart of the College. These experiences are structured to provide students with meaningful ways to live out their faith in action.

OUTDOOR EDUCATION
GOOGA - A Defining Experience in the Grace Journey
Year 7
A successful transition into secondary school begins with belonging. In Term One, we welcome Year 7 students with experiences designed to foster friendships, build trust with staff, and create a strong sense of connection including a three day camp. Introducing students to The Grace Way, we lay the groundwork for a confident and purpose-filled journey—one where every student feels seen, supported, and ready to thrive from day one.
Year 8
In Term Two, students step beyond the familiar—challenging themselves in new environments that nurture growth, resilience, and deeper connection. It’s more than a camp; it’s an opportunity to build courage, strengthen friendships, and embrace the journey of personal discovery. This experience lays the foundation for the transformational Googa program in Year 9.
Year 9 - GOOGA
A unique and transformative outdoor education experience. Located in the Blackbutt Ranges, this four-week residential program designed around personal growth. Googa is a powerful part of the Grace journey, shaping confident, grounded young people who return with a deeper understanding of themselves and others.
Year 11
The threshold of their final year, this pivotal camp marks a moment of reflection, growth, and preparation. Focused on leadership and character, it challenges each student to consider the legacy they will leave and the influence they can have on others. Through shared experiences, meaningful conversations, and personal reflection, students are equipped to step into Year 12 with clarity, courage, and integrity—ready to lead with intention and make a lasting impact.
A highlight of the educational journey is Googa, a beautiful Outdoor Education facility near Blackbutt, and our third campus. It is compulsary for all Year 9 students attend Googa for four weeks under the direction of highly trained and specialised staff. Through a staged approach, our students are immersed in activities that they might otherwise miss or take for granted in the home environment. These include adventure activities, hiking, camping, daily cooking, washing and cleaning, responsibility for feeding livestock, preparing devotions, as well as journal and letter writing. Skills learnt at Googa assist them to grow academically and personally in their secondary journey and beyond. The aim of this journey is for the students to hone self-reliance and teamwork skills, and understand their spiritual path.

With approximately 20 bus routes servicing the Rothwell and Caboolture campuses, no matter where you live in the Moreton Bay region there is likely to be a Grace bus in your area.
Going the Grace Way means the daily pick up and drop off is made easier. More importantly, our modern bus fleet is owned, operated and staffed by Grace Lutheran College for the use of College and partner Lutheran primary school students. Buses are fully equipped with seatbelts, air-conditioning and CCTV cameras giving our parents peace of mind that their child is traveling safely and securely.
We utilise BusMinder, an easy-to-use system for online booking and ticketing and boarding and disembarking notifications sent directly to enrolling parents. With BusMinder, families stay informed and connected, ensuring an extra layer of confidence and convenience in their child’s daily journey.
