The Landing Apartments harmonize simplicity and function. Curved elements flow seamlessly through the space, echoing the organic found in nature and fostering a sense of and connection. These organic forms are complemented by custom built-ins that offer ample storage, while maintaining the uncluttered aesthetic central to Scandinavian design. The color palette is simple with an emphasis on blue, beige, and green tones, and 3 differentwoods,whichtogethercreatea and inviting atmosphere. Each element within the space, from the tactile finishes to the functionalbuilt-ins,isatestamenttothedesigns commitmenttocreating movement,connecting to nature, and providing a calm environment thatfocusesonthe wellness ofitsuser.

The adaptivereuse projectof OldCityHall inLincoln, NE, fuses architecture, landscape, and interiors to create a unique historical experience that brings newlife intothischerishedbuildingwhile preserving its architectural heritage. The project serves the immediate walkable community, which ebbs and flows throughout the year; this encompasses students, professionals, and visitors to the city and university. The primary objective of this adaptive reuse project is to create a multifunctional that fosters community engagement, supports local businesses, and revitalizes the downtown area. Focusing on restoring designed elements such as the dark wood, limestone exterior, the interior columns and beams, and maintaining the existing exterior plants will allow the building to sustain its cultural importance. By thoughtfully blending the building’s historic character with modern, sustainable elements and existing landscape re-using forms from the original design, the project willofferanunforgettabledestinationforitsvisitors.

Lilly is a 7 year old girl who attends Sheridan Elementary and lives in the Grand Manse Building. She enjoys playing outside and doing arts and crafts. After school, she likes to go to “Paint Yourself Silly” with her mom and get an ice cream treat from the food hall.
Sam is a 22 year old male college student at UNL. He is a part of Greek life and is studying Business Management. On his free weeknights, he likes to meet friends at the entertainment space and grab dinner from the food hall.
Rebecca is a 35 year old woman who lives alone in the Telegraph Apartments. She will often bike to the cafe in the morning to work, and later in the day she enjoys taking a yoga class and walking around the park.
Alice is an interior design professor in the College of Architecture. She lives in South Lincoln and is a mother to 2 children. She enjoys taking yoga classes and relaxing in the library at Old City Hall after work.
Marcus and Jamie are a retired couple who are alumni and attend UNL football games at Memorial Stadium 3-4 times a year. They enjoy shopping and grabbing a drink from the bar inside Old City Hall.

Workplace design is trending towards user well-being, collaboration, and sustainability. With GenZ predicted to become 27 percent of the workforce by 2025, a productive yet comfortable space for these young professionals to accomplish their work is crucial. The design for the NEXT office utilizes flexible lighting and furniture, areas for wellness, and a calm, yet welcoming material palette with wood accents to encourage a dynamic workenvironment.Prioritizing work-lifebalance within this design also imparts a sense of home to its users to focus on mental health and well-being. Additionally, sustainable techniques have been incorporated into the space such as large windows for natural light, sustainable and recycled materials, and indoor plants toimproveairquality.
NEXT is a progressive and global architecture and interiordesignfirm based in Los Angeles. With expected growth in the future, they are opening an office in Dallas, Texas. Byprovidingflexibleworkspaces,accesstonature, and sustainable elements, users will be able to work collaboratively and productively,whilealsomaintaininga healthybalancebetweenlifeandwork.
