Story

Engstli’s

I was living my own way. Not even caring about my sinful actions. When I met my wife Sheri at 37 years old, I read God’s Word for the first time. My eyes were opened to actions that were sinful, previously never aware of. I knew I needed saved and Jesus was the only way. Gratitude became a huge part of my life. With addiction, God’s mercy has been unfailing. I’ve repented from my sins, and am relying on Jesus for help to not return to my previous sinful ways. He is my everything and I can’t do one thing without Him. With chronic childhood illness, I played the victim card for most of my life. Now I am working my weakness to play the victory card, walking with Jesus.

Preston Beaver’s Story

Before I made the decision to follow Jesus my life was pretty boring and didn’t feel like I had much of a purpose in life. After coming to Youth for a few weeks, I heard other students talk about their relationship with God and I wanted to have that for myself. I decided that it was time for me to place my faith in Jesus. Jesus is my Savior and has helped me through some tough times. I love being loved by Jesus. It has helped me interact with my peers who have the same desires and has helped me believe in Jesus more. Being at Grace has helped me because the leaders provide an interactive space that helps develop my relationship with Jesus.

Amber Rey’s Story

I felt empty and in despair! My heart had been so broken and I was bound to addiction! I’ve experienced a relationship with Christ but never fully surrendered to Him until March 29th of 2024!

I was with my now husband David. I gave my life to Him! I finally felt the beauty of being forgiven! I have been redeemed, brought back to

original value as if I never sinned! I have a renewed mind and I am transformed! A new creation! I just go back to Ephesians 2 where it says, “But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved.”

Opeyimika Olugbemiro’s Story

Before following Jesus I was not kind to my sister and my friends. One night when my dad came to tuck me in, I asked him how to become a Christian. He told me from John 3:16-18 that God through Jesus invites me to become His son by accepting Him as Lord and

Saviour. I prayed with my Dad that night and became a child of God. I feel like I can talk to God directly. I ask Him to help me become a better person every time. When I come to church, I learn new things about God every Sunday and I like getting to see my friends! 11

Olivia Suttle’s Story

I always grew up going to church and I always knew of God but I never really knew who God actually was. I always felt sad, angry, and alone before I gave my life to Jesus. The third service at Kalahari 2024 really connected

with me and I really started to understand that I am not alone and I knew I needed to give my life to Christ. I prayed, asked Jesus for forgiveness and asked Him to be the leader of my life!

Kellen Smith’s Story

I’ve been raised in the church. I was baptized as an infant and I have been a part of the church my entire life. I was at church camp when I was younger and on the first day, they asked if I was genuinely following Jesus - and for the rest of camp I thought about it. On one of the last nights I approached my counselor about it and after going to a quiet spot, we prayed together and in that moment I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. This decision to get baptized as an adult is to show that Christ is my Lord and Savior and that is MY decision to show how much God has affected me in my journey as a follower of Christ. This decision has given me peace in hardships. Now when I face a challenge in life it allows me to stay calm and keep my situation in perspective.

For the past 85 years, Grace Church’s core mission has remained the same: developing all people into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Recent growth sparked a pivotal question: “What’s NEXT for Grace Church? How can we make more room for more people?” This led to the NEXT campaign, a journey of faith already embraced by 327 people through a 21-Day Spiritual Journey. The response has been incredible, with over $17.7 million pledged (and nearly $12.5 million received!) to create more room for life change. We’re deeply grateful and truly believe the best is yet to come!
