FOLDED MARKET marketplace in Urbana, IL The Folded Market displays the results of “folding” planes to form a structure, creating an eye-catching landmark to define the skyline of downtown Urbana.

Study Models: The initial studio assignment asked students to explore a given action verb. I explored the action of “folding.” These models show my exploration into the possibilities found through “folding.”

The final iteration of this design was chosen to be constructed to a six-foot scale by the studio section.

MELODY LIBRARY library in Albany Park, Chicago, IL The Melody Library reflects the diverse community found within Albany Park through its extensive collection of recorded music and instruments, and through the oppurtunities it provides to community members to experience music. The Melody Library is characterized by both private and public spaces suited to the needs of individuals as well as the community as a whole.

What is it like to live in Albany Park?

This illustration captures the vibrant life of Albany Park, Chicago as it takes place across the street from the site. Albany Park is made up of people from a diverse array of backgrounds, all of whom posess unique tastes and experiences relating to music.

How do people interact with music?

People interact with music in many different ways. Listening, creating, performing. Programming for the Library is informed by these interactions, as the Library aims to serve all members of the Albany Park community.

What space does Melody Library occupy in the community?

The Melody Library acts as a hub for the community by providing activities and spaces for community members to gather.

The Library also acts as an attraction for those outside the community. Located next to Kimball Station, the last stop of the CTA Brown Line, the Melody Library can be easily accessed by people all over Chicago.

ANNEX INTERVENTION The Architecture Annex is located on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It is currently occupied by the first-year architecture studio and miscellanious administrative offices.

This project aims to transform a relatively obscure building into an eye-catching landmark that incites wonder and productivity in its occupants.

CHAMPAIGN THEATER SPRING 2023 This project fills a niche in downtown Champaign, IL by complething the prompt: “A space for ___.”

The Champaign Theater and Center for Perfoming Arts provides oppurtunities for members of the community to learn and experience the performing arts at all levels of skill.
