LIZZIE MAGIE In life as in childhood, we all long for stories as a means of escape from everyday monotony. Whether through film, books, or art we all seek some sort of narrative to help us transcend ordinary existence. And what story is better than the one you are invited to participate in through the entrancing one found in board games? At Lizzie Magie boutique hotel, classic American boardgames serve as the inspiration and means of escape for all guests coming to the energetic city of Chicago. Spaces in this hotel engage viewers in the narrative told by each unique game while also providing them with top-tier service to make this visit one they won’t soon forget.

Next Beauty Corporate New York City, New York
NEXT BEAUTY The two basic tenets that guide all of design are the traits of form and function. Function is the practical use and promotion of wellbeing in a space. Form is the aesthetics that create an atmosphere and tell a story. When these two things are brought together, it is the job of a designer to create a space that accomplishes both. A space that is flexible for individuals, comforting, traditional to the brand’s heritage, and creative. What better idea to bring this sense of welcoming nostalgia to life than that of a recipe box and the creation of a workspace recipe that is just as unique as the company it represents?

ASID Student Competition 2021 Thrive Healthcare San Fransisco, California
THRIVE Acres of Redwood trees thrive in the sheltered valley of the Muir Woods. The forest ecosystem of towering trees and harmonious creeks is a place defined by growth. The diffusion of light through the canopy of leaves above cast shadows on the trails. Thrive conveys the transient trail of life through nature to support patients and their families throughout their ever changing health and well being. The rhythm of growth is shown through repeating lines and textured wall covering. Sensory engagement with natural elements evolves as patients progress through the space. Warm colors are used to prompt transition through the space. Cool colors and harmonious organic shapes ease patients into private spaces.

design remarks
Natural flooring textures used for wayfinding throughout the building guides employees and patients to designated zones such as the transition between travel and resting states in the lobby waiting area.
Wood textures call back to the redwood pines at the heart of Muir Woods and the custom light fixture pays homage to those same tree’s monolithic rings and curvilinear design.
Terrazzo is an environmentally consicious flooring choice that simultaneously echos patterns of pebbles in a stream.
design remarks Wall illustrations represent natural scenes referencing the surrounding nature found in San Fransisco Bay Area.

Ronesans Hospitality Istanbul, Turkey
RONESANS Imagine walking through a garden; tulips, bulbs, elements of nature all at different stages of life, all unique in their own creation yet a symbol of celebratory life. As the first flower to bloom in spring, the tulip is symbol of rebirth. The foundation of Ronesans Turkish restaurant embodies the culture’s beliefs in hospitality, community, and generosity through honor that is derived from being kind and generous to others. The tulips symbolism of rebirth was captured with the intent to design a turkish restaurant that honored the Ottoman traditional style yet cherished the balance of contemporary Turkish design. The visual concept behind Ronesans was designed similarly to the tulips form through the incorporation of a curved mezzanine, arched coves, floral mural, and bulb shaped luminaire fixtures. Interior style was derived from the tulips physical shape, diverse petal colors, and the expression of curvilinear lines within the muqarnas architectural form. Ronesans atmosphere represents a hybridization of traditional ottoman style and contemporary turkish motifs that welcomes all.

design remarks
Gracie Wallpaper used on the wall behind the bar and on the ceiling uses metallic geometric forms to create reflection and depth to the space.
Iznik ceramic tiles used around the bar incorporate traditional Turkish design from the height of the Ottoman Empire. Floral and geometric patterns used are in keeping with the Islamic tradition of not depicting sentient beings in art.
This tulip still art mural brings the inspiration of the space into actuality by showing the very form that inspires the rebirth and vitality of culture.
design remarks Gold mettalic wallpaper, used inside the muquarnas arches drawn from Turkish architecture, reflects light in the space.

THE DARA BENCH Formica is celebrating the 5th anniversary of the student design competition with the gift of wood. This material celebrates qualities of strength, unity, growth, and connection. No symbols better represent this binding strength than the Dara, Solomon, and Celtic Knots. These ancient druid symbols represent the interconnected systems of life and consist of a singular line that goes unbroken. Drawing off the ancient word “Doire” for the oak tree, the Dara knot specifically embodies the virtues of strength and growth that are celebrated on traditional 5th anniversaries. What better way to celebrate this anniversary than with a bench that unites us and invites everyone into the conversation?
CITY OF RIDGELAND MURAL The city of Ridgeland is an active, engaging, community that describes itself in its town slogan as “Ridgland. There’s more here.” At the heart of this vibrant city, along the railroad tracks at its core, is the hippest half acre of businesses that foster the community values of growth and care. The businesses in this area were in search of a mural design that reflected the fun and compassion at the heart of the people of the city of Ridgeland. The design was requested to reflect the inspiration of a vintage travel postcard while simultaneously incorporating the modern aspects of this growing area. To complete these goals I created a graphic digital representation of all the things that make Ridgeland the place to be and the place where there is more. Every detail from the Mississippi Magnolia, to the ‘In God We Trust’ Flag, to the Natchez Trace Parkway, and the parks of its children reflects the pieces of what makes Ridgeland a whole.

SELDOM SEEN FARM - JAMS & PRESERVES
Seldom Seen Farm is a local pine tree farm and wedding venue located in the heart of Carroll County, Mississippi. When the farm was able to produce subsidiary crops for the summer of 2021 there was a need for an expansion of the existing brand. In conjunction with a previously retained graphic designer I worked to modify the logo and labeling to outfit these delicious jams.
PORCHFEST VICKSBURG
Porchfest is a nationally recognized annual community event that brings together both local musicians and neighboorhoods through front porch performances. The city of Vicksburg, Mississippi comissioned my work for their third year logo design. This work unites both core concepts of music and community through it’s form taking on the shape of a guitar and an adirondack chair.
