Os relatos são os mais animadores possíveis. Boa parte deles elegeu o condado como o destino de um sonho a se realizar. Um sonho que exige pragmatismo, foco, trabalho árduo e cálculo para trabalhar com escassa margem de erro. É como se o seu sonho fosse o da cidade também. Se for possível realizá-los juntos, por que não? É uma troca animadora. Estimulante. Também iniciamos nossa imersão no maravilhoso mundo da moda, cuja representante é Anne Schoenberger, uma linda mulher brasileira que optou por viver aqui. E como inspiração e referência, desbravamos o estilo Pininfarina de viver a vida. Conversamos com Paolo Pininfarina, o único herdeiro vivo de Battista Pinin Farina, o italiano que criou a mais reverenciada oficina de design no mundo. Dreaming Miami « Writing about Miami has been a source of constant pleasure. It’s amazing to see how our collaborators describe the city. The reports are always promising. Many of them chose the county as a path to a dream in the making. A dream that requires pragmatism, focus, hard work and calculation, due to its scant margin for error. It’s as if our dreams are Miami’s dreams too. If we can build something together, why not do it? It’s an exciting exchange. Stimulating. Considering this uplifiting spirit, the speed with which the city is growing and its captivating natural beauties... it’s hard to fight this feeling. Miami is a brother-in-arms. She’s always there for you. Miami teases us... into being happy. Miami gives us opportunities, Miami encourages us, Miami believes, Miami vibrates. But... try not to disappoint Miami. Normally,

it doesn’t give you second chances. But she’s so good, so generous – who dares to disappoint her? That’s our case. We’re trying hard to win her over. In this issue, we spoke to Brazilians who dream of investing on American lands.

We also began our immersion in the wonderful world of fashion, whose representative is Anne Schoenberger, a beautiful Brazilian woman who chose to live here. Besides mapping both new places and long-standing classics, this issue can make you acquainted with every interesting event being held this spring. For inspiration, we turned to the Pininfarina way of life. We had a chat with Paolo Pininfarina, the only living heir of Battista Pinin Farina, the Italian who created the most revered design workshop in the world. And where do their eyes are turning to? ronronar dos motores ecoa um barulho inconfundível. As curvas da lataria parecem ter sido moldadas pela velocidade do vento. Na frente, o inconfundível Cavallino Rampante empina o corpo e se encarrega de simbolizar o design e o esporte daquele que é o veículo mais desejado de todos os tempos, a Ferrari. Somente um estúdio de design que nasceu no coração da Itália, em Turim, numa região que compreende o Valle d’Aosta e Piemonte, para projetar um protótipo com todo esse savoir vivre europeu.

Pininfarina é o nome do escritório que deu forma ao carro vermelho mais famoso do globo. Foi observando os campos que se abrem em direção aos alpes que o italiano Battista Pinin Farina criou a nova cara do design. No aniversário de 50 anos de sua morte, neste ano, ele foi nomeado como o “Picasso do design automobilístico” pelo segmento. Mas a historia da Pininfarina começa bem antes e a GPS|Miami foi até Paolo Pininfarina, neto de Battista, e o diretor de negócios, Matteo De Lise.

Pinin significa pequeno e Battista ganhou esse apelido por ser baixinho. Em 1930, ele fundou uma mini oficina.

Com a Primeira-Guerra Mundial, passou a projetar carros, ambulâncias e veículos para o exército. Em pouco tempo, a oficina chamada Carrozeria Pinin Farina tornou-se uma indústria com instalações, funcionários e equipamentos para a fabricação.

A evolução da indústria de automóveis está intimamente ligada à colaboração entre a empresa e a Ferrari, parceria iniciada em 1952. A importância do trabalho de Battista foi tão grande que o apelido tornou-se o sobrenome da família, reconhecido pela Presidência da República Italiana em 1961.

The whirring of the motors ecoes a distinct noise. The car’s curves seem to have been shaped by the speed of wind. On the front, the unmistakable Cavallino Rampante tilts its body upwards, simbolizing the design of the most desired vehicle of all times: the Ferrari. Only a design studio born in the heart of Italy, in Turin, a region which includes the Valle d’Aosta and Piedmont, could design a prototype with all this european savoir vivre.

Pininfarina is the name of the car design firm that brought the world’s most famous red car to life. To create a new type of design, Battista Pinin Farina looked for inspiration in the fields that look upon the Italian Alps.

This year, 50 years after his death, he was named the “Picasso of automative design”.

But Pininfarina’s story begins way before that — to find out more, GPS|Miami talked to Paolo Pininfarina, Battista’s grandson, and his Business Director, Matteo De Lise.

Pinin means “small” in Italian, a nickname bestowed on Battista due to his diminute height. In 1930, he founded a small workshop. During World War I, he started designing cars, ambulances, and military vehicles. Not long after, the workshop, called Carrozeria Pinin Farina, became an industry with huge facilities, staff and equipment adequated for fabrication.

The evolution of the automobile industry is closely tied to the collaboration between the company and Ferrari, a partnership initiated in 1952. The importance of Battista’s work was so great that the nickname became his family’s surname, recognized by the Presidency of the Italian Republic in 1961.

Após a morte de Battista, em 1966, seu filho Sérgio assumiu os negócios e elevou o nome Pininfarina ao auge.

Por quatro décadas, desenhou carros que são verdadeiras obras de arte, como a Ferrari Testarossa, os esportivos F40, Enzo e os clássicos Peugeot 406 Coupé, Alfa Romeo Spider e Maserati Quattroporte. Formado em engenharia, foi considerado um dos mais criativos projetistas da indústria automobilística. Além da paixão por carros, seguiu carreira política. Foi eleito deputado na década de 1970 e tornou-se senador em 2005.

Sob sua gestão, a Pininfarina chegou a valer USD 1 bilhão, teve três fábricas que trabalharam em parceria com Ferrari, Alfa Romeo e Fiat, Maserati, com mais de quatro mil funcionários. Chegaram a produzir 800 modelos por ano. Mas com a crise no setor automobilístico nos anos 2000 e a avaliação do cliente Pininfarina em querer estender sua experiência além do carro de luxo, passaram a focar em carros exclusivos, como o recém lançado H2 Speed, e também decidiram investir em outros setores.

O filho mais velho de Sérgio, Andrea, assumiu os negócios da família em 2006, no lugar do pai. Dois anos depois, sofreu um trágico acidente enquanto dirigia uma lambreta e faleceu. “Você pode imaginar o quão chocante isto foi para mim, para minha família e para todos da Pininfarina”, conta Paolo, irmão mais novo de Andrea. “Ao olhar nos olhos de nossos empregados entendi que era o momento de me tornar o representante”, emenda.

After Battista’s death, in 1966, his son Sergio took over the business and made Pininfarina what it is today. For four decades, he designed cars that are true masterpieces, like the Ferrari Testarossa, sports cars like F40, Enzo and the classic Peugeot 406 Coupé, Alfa Romeo Spider and Maserati Quattroporte. With a degree in engineering, he was considered one of the most creative designers in the auto industry. Besides his love for cars, he was also involved in politics.

During the 70’s, he was elected congressman, becoming a senator in 2005.

Under his management, Pininfarina total net value reached USD 1 billion, with three factories working in tandem with Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Maserati, with more than four thousand employees. They produced more than 800 cars per year. But with the automotive industry crisis in the beginning of the 2000’s and Pininfarina’s desire to extend their experience beyond the luxury vehicles market, the company began to focus on exclusive cars, like the newly released H2 Speed, also deciding to invest in other sectors.

Sergio’s older son, Andrea, took over the family business in 2006. Two years later, he died in a tragic accident while driving a scooter. “It was a shocking event for me, my family and everyone in Pirinfarina”, says Paolo, Andrea’s younger brother.

“When I looked into my employees eyes, I realized it was time to take charge of business”, he says.

Paolo já trabalhava na fábrica desde 1982. Formado em Engenharia Mecânica, se revelou um designer nato. Foi membro do Istituto Europeo di Design e emérito fundador da Associazione per il Disegno Industriale de Milão. Sua atuação como empresário também marca um novo capítulo da marca que integra o lifestyle Pininfarina. Com a morte de Sérgio, em 2012, tornou-se o único herdeiro direto – Andrea tem três filhos.

DOS CARROS AOS ARRANHA-CÉUS “Dirigir Ferrari ou qualquer outro carro com assinatura da marca traz sentimentos únicos que o consumidor sente necessidade de continuidade”, explica Matteo De Lise. Há 30 anos, a empresa começou gradualmente a diversificar em seu desenho e setores, como decoração de interiores, mobiliário e desenhos industrial, aeronáutico e náutico, para suprir essa conexão com o consumidor.

“Assim, a integração em arquitetura e o mercado de construção se deu de maneira natural, evoluindo para o que chamamos de ‘estilo de vida Pininfarina’, uma experiência holística no mercado de luxo, em que integramos o design sofisticado em todos os setores da experiência do nosso cliente”, complementa De Lise.

O resultado são diversos arranha-céus em áreas de prestígio na América Latina, Singapura e Estados Unidos.

No Brasil, destacam-se os prédios ainda em construção Cyrela by Pininfarina e o Heritage, ambos em São Paulo.

Os empreendimentos têm fachada aerodinâmica com curvas suaves, inspirados na Ferrari.

Paolo has been working in the factory since 1982. With a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he turned out to be a natural born designer.

He was a member of the Istituto Europeo di Design and founder of the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale of Milan. His performance as an entrepreneur also marks a new chapter in the brand, one that incorporates the Pininfarina lifestyle. After Sergio’s death, in 2012, he became his only direct heir — Andrea had three sons.

FROM CARS TO SKYSCRAPERS “Driving a Ferrari or any other car with the brand’s signature look brings unique feelings, thus resulting in a need for continuity”, explains Matteo De Lise. Thirty years ago, the company gradually began to diversify its investments, going into markets like interior decoration, furniture and industrial drawings, both aeronautical and nautical, to supply this connection to the consumer.

“Thus, the integration between architecture and the building sector happened naturally, evolving into what we call the “Pininfarina lifestyle”, a holistic experience in the luxury market, in which we integrate sophisticated design in all levels of experience”, says De Lise.

The result are several skyscrapers in prestigious areas in Latin America, Singapore and the United States. In Brazil, there are two buildings under construction: Cyrela by Pininfarina and Heritage, both in São Paulo. The buildings have an aerodynamic feel, with gentle curves inspired by Ferrari.

No Sul do Brasil, há dois projetos em parceria com a construtora Pasqualotto em Balneário Camburiú, em Santa Catarina. Está em construção o Yachthouse, considerado a torre mais alta do Brasil, que se conecta com a Marina Tedesco, a que recebe barcos de prestígio na região. O segundo projeto é o Vitra, que ganhou o prêmio de Melhor Conceito de Design do ano pela American Architecture Awards em 2015. “Isso nos permitiu construir a confiança em serviços que nos acompanham na América do Sul até os Estados Unidos, principalmente na Flórida, onde investidores brasileiros estão por traz dos nossos mais sofisticados empreendimentos”, afirma De Lise.

In the South of Brazil, there are two projects in partnership with construtor Pasqualotto, both of them in Balneário Camburiú, Santa Catarina. Yachthouse, considered the highest tower in Brazil and connected to the Tedesco Harbour, which receives prestigious boats from all over the region, is also under construction. The second project is Vitra, which won Best Design Concept of the Year, a prize given by the American Architecture Awards. “That allowed us to build trust in services that accompany us in South America and the United States, especially in Florida, where Brazilian investors are behind our more sophisticated businesses,” says De Lise.

Yachthouse, Balneário Camburiú

PININFARINA NA FLÓRIDA “A correlação entre o corpo de uma linda mulher e o design Pininfarina é que os dois têm simplicidade e harmonia das curvas. Assim, quando ambos envelhecem, você continua a apreciar o quão lindos eram e isto permanece para sempre”, dizia Battista.

E foi esse design que conquistou o mundo. “Nosso traço é geralmente caloroso, emocional e tem sido de grande sucesso na Flórida, assim como na América Latina. Você acredita que meu avô deu o nome de Florida II para o carro Lancia, que ele desenhou para seu uso pessoal, tamanha sua paixão por esse lugar?”, relembra Paolo. “Fiquem atentos, pois em breve há a possibilidade de termos um projeto com o nome de Florida III em Miami”, revela.

O fato é que a Pininfarina tem colaborado de maneira ativa em Miami, não somente no setor residencial, mas em projetos de infraestrutura. Em Miami Beach, o escritório produziu os projetos de design das estações hidráulicas que reduzem o alagamento quando há período de chuvas intensas.

Sem contar que transformarão o sistema em uma atração turística, sem que seja apenas uma caixa d’agua de tratamento.

O escritório também vem trabalhando em projetos de design, ainda a serem aprovados, para a implementação de uma nova marina. E brainstorming vêm sendo realizados para melhorar o tráfego intenso. “É uma estratégia oriunda de nossa experiência no setor industrial, conjugadas com colaborações com empresas líderes no mercado de inovação nos Estados Unidos. Especialmente em Miami, uma cidade que tem crescido imensamente rápido e com estilo de vida sofisticado. É perfeito. Queremos expandir com força total”, avalia De Lise.

Recentemente, a marca anunciou a colaboração com o time Magic Development, que investe em residenciais de luxo em Orlando. O ambicioso empreendimento tem cinco aglomerados de dois prédios cada, um total de dez 24 « GPS-Miami

torres de luxo para uso residencial, com terraços e vista excepcional. Outro portentoso projeto que ainda está na fase conceitual é na ilha de Bay Harbor, em Miami. De um ângulo, vista para o Ball Harbour Yacht Club e, do outro, a mais linda praia preservada de Haulover. “Em breve, vamos anunciar esse empreendimento com mais detalhes.

And thus, this design conquered the world. “Our identity is warm, emotional and has been a great success in Florida, as well as in Latin America.

Can you believe that my grandfather named the Lancia model, a car he designed for himself, as Florida II, such was his love for this place?”, he muses.

“Stay tuned, because there’s the possibility that we’ll have a project named Florida III in Miami”, reveals Paolo.

The fact is that Pininfarina has collaborated actively in Miami, not only in the residential sector, but also in infrastructure projects. In Miami Beach, the office produced projects such as hydraulic stations that reduce flooding during the rainy season. Not to mention that in addition to being a water treatment system, the stations will also double as a tourist attraction.

The office has also been working on design projects, yet to be approved, for the implementation of a new marina. The employees have been doing a lot of brainstorming to find a solution for the heavy traffic. “This strategy comes from our experience in the industrial sector, combined with collaborations with leading companies in the innovation market of the United States. Miami, a city that has grown immensely fast and that offers a sophisticated lifestyle, is the perfect place for us. We want to work towards full expansion”, says De Lise.

Recently, the brand announced a collaboration with Magic Development, a deluxe residential building in Orlando. The ambitious project consists of five clusters of two buildings each, with a total number of ten luxury towers for residential use, with terraces and an exceptional view. Another wonderful project still in its conceptual phase will be situated at Bay Harbor Island, in Miami. From one angle, a view to the Ball Harbour Yacht Club; from the other, the beautiful and well-preserved Haulover beach. “Soon, we’ll be announcing the details of this enterprise. For now, we offer GPS|Miami this little teaser”.

Construído como plano de entretenimento e torre de observação, suas medidas fazem jus ao apelido. Serão mais de 300 metros de edifício no centro do Bayfront Entertainment Center de Downtown Miami. Ele ficará às margens das águas de Bayside Marketplace, complexo que recebe mais de 23 milhões de visitantes todos os anos.

Retranca [Retranca]

Os amantes de adrenalina já podem se preparar, pois a novidade com certeza entrará para a sua lista de lugares preferidos. A atração SkyDrop irá trazer a queda livre mais rápida e longa do mundo. Será como saltar de paraquedas de um avião. Uma estrutura com 12 assentos ocupados pelos visitantes será elevada até o topo da torre e depois solta em queda livre com mais de 150km/h. Tem que ter coragem.

A explicação para o crescimento do futebol também se dá pelo bom desempenho da seleção americana na Copa do Mundo de 2014, que chegou às quartas de final. O investimento feito pelo país em treinos, estrutura, propaganda e especialização fez dos EUA um dos novos países do futebol. “A dimensão que isso está tomando nas ligas americanas é muito maior que a nossa”, explica o professor.

“Eles estão construindo estádios específicos. As torcidas são bem estruturadas e vão para assistir ao espetáculo, não é aquela coisa frenética que se tem no Brasil”.

No entanto, apesar de todo o crescimento e propensão ao sucesso, os norte-americanos ainda não são páreo para o país do futebol, o Brasil. Segundo o especialista, o nível de desempenho dos jogadores ainda é baixo. “É possível perceber que os atletas estão fora de forma, acima ou abaixo do peso e não têm a experiência necessária para combater seleções experientes. Ainda estão muito aquém do Brasil”, explica.

Quanto ao fluxo de atletas brasileiros se juntando à liga, os dois países saem ganhando. “Como as coisas estão recentes, os jogadores brasileiros vão principalmente para aprender, investir na carreira, treinar, conhecer novos formatos. Isso é normal, não acredito que vá haver um êxodo de craques para tomar conta das ligas americanas”, constata o professor.

As for the flow of Brazilian athletes joining the American league, he says it’s a win-win scenario. “As all this is still fairly new, Brazilian players go to America to learn, invest in their careers, meet new formats. Tamanho movimento fez com que, desde 2015, fosse investido USD 1 bilhão em melhorias em sua infraestrutura, com a expansão do Canal do Panamá. A obra, que tem 77km, é um canal artificial que liga o oceano Pacífico ao Atlântico, sendo uma peça chave na economia mundial.

Com as melhorias, ele vai duplicar a circulação de navios cargueiros e criar uma conexão direta entre a Ásia e a costa leste americana.

Hoje, o porto oferece o canal de navegação mais profundo no sudeste dos Estados Unidos, com 52 pés de profundidade, equivalente a quase 16 metros. Também foi expandido o serviço de reboque de navios do porto para a atracação e partida de mais cargueiros, bem como implantação de guindastes super-Panamax, aqueles enormes que conseguem remover até 22 containers de carga.

Para a distribuição dos bens, foi construído um túnel de acesso rápido que passa por baixo da Biscayne Bay, a 1.300 metros de profundidade, ligando o porto diretamente ao sistema de estradas interestaduais de Miami. O serviço de entrega ao transporte ferroviário da Costa Leste da Flórida também ganhou estrutura, gerando alcance a 70% do mercado norte-americano em até quatro dias.

Ou seja, a dinâmica comercial em Miami vai crescer ainda mais.

Segundo o Diretor e CEO do Porto, Juan M. Kuryla, Miami está preparada. “A conclusão do Canal será um divisor de águas na nossa indústria, e não há outra porta mais ansiosamente esperada do que o Porto de Miami. A cidade tem o único porto da Costa Leste dos Estados Unidos ao Sul da Virgínia capaz de lidar com navios pós-Panamax. Estamos mais do que prontos”. A inauguração da expansão do Canal do Panamá está marcada para o final de junho.

DO ORIENTE Graças a maior intensidade do comércio no Porto, a 2M Alliance, companhia que une as distribuidoras Maersk Line e Mediterranean Shipping Co., anunciou o lançamento do novo serviço, o Lone Star Express, comércio entre a Ásia e o Golfo dos Estados Unidos, com uma descarga semanal no movimentado Porto de Miami. resente em algumas das baladas mais famosas da Capital do Brasil, a MUV Drink, empresa brasiliense de harmonizadores para bebidas, está prestes a estrear nas lojas de Miami. Criada em 2013, a marca conquistou um mercado pouco explorado até então. Com sabores de uva, morango, abacaxi e maçã com limão siciliano, em apenas três anos já se tornou a pedida para quem aprecia um bom drink.

O produto surgiu, inicialmente, como alternativa saudável e saborosa para a harmonização de destilados. A marca contou com a ajuda de mixologistas brasileiros para criar a fórmula, constituída de aproximadamente 60% de frutas e sem álcool, com alto teor nutritivo. O empresário Hélbio Nogueira, sócio-fundador da marca, buscou uma fábrica na Coreia do Sul, pela tradição do país com produção de energéticos e bebidas saudáveis.

Nogueira explica que a transição para Miami aconteceu de maneira espontânea. “Um grupo de empresários brasileiros radicado em Miami nos convidou para iniciar o

Founded in 2013, the company conquered a market that, until then, wasn’t really explored to its full potential. With flavors like grape, strawberry, pineapple and apple-lemon, in just three years the brand became the go-to option to those who enjoy good drinks.

The product was created as a healthy and flavorful alternative to mixed drinks. The brand hired Brazilian mixologists to create its formula, 60% of which is made of fruit. The beverage is also alcohol-free and highly nutritious. Businessman Hélbio Nogueira, co-founder of the brand, chose to manufacture the soft drink in South Korea, due to the country’s tradition in energy drinks and healthy beverages production.

Nogueira explains that the transition to Miami happened spontaneously. “A group of Brazilian entrepreneurs based in Miami asked us to bring our product to the United States”. Nogueira believes that the American metropolis shares some similarities with Brasilia, like that fact that it embraces all cultures, which makes it an ideal place for new brands and products. The drink harmonizer will arrive in American lands at the end of the year.

Today, MUV’s main market is Brazil’s southern region. The drink will be sold in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro sometime in the next semester.

“Our challenge is to make people try MUV and include it in their list of favorite drinks. To do so, we had to develop a new, custom approach to charm our American audience, starting with new flavors”, he explains. The flavors sold in the United States will be different from those currently sold in Brazil. However, the businessman believes that the combos Bacardi + Green Grape MUV and Gim + Pineapple and Ginger MUV can’t be beaten.

Production in South Korea simplify the harmonizer’s international distribution, and after Miami, the plan is to bring this new drink to other parts of the world.

o norte de Belém do Pará nasce de uma palmeira um fruto curioso que de uns tempos para cá tornou-se muito popular: o açaí. O pomo que lembra uma blueberry de cor roxa é praticamente 100% brasileiro. E 90% da fruta é produzida na capital do Pará, onde o terroir da região propicia o sabor apetitoso. Apesar da origem brasileira, o mercado dos Estados Unidos está entre os maiores consumidores de açaí no mundo.

Há cerca de 18 anos, três gringos introduziram o produto por lá.

Tudo que contém açaí passou a ser chamativo. Hoje, existe de açaí em pó a xampu e medicamento com a fruta. Herdeiro de um dos grupos laboratoriais mais conhecidos do Brasil, o Sabin, Rafael Vaz, de 28 anos, vivia em Miami quando recebeu a proposta de ser o sócio-investidor do Native Berries, recém-chegado nas prateleiras de mercados da Califórnia e da Flórida. “Meu primo me apresentou o projeto elaborado por um espanhol que queria levar o açaí para o exterior, em parceria com um consultor. Abracei a ideia”, conta Vaz, que tem como sócios Javier Salvador, Marcelo Vaz e Isaac Benchimol.

Para viabilizar o produto, eles foram até o Pará conhecer as cerca de 50 famílias que fazem a colheita e vendem para associações.

Os sócios negociam com seis delas. Para evitar perda da qualidade do produto, eles adquiriram uma fábrica de médio porte em Belém para o processamento, onde a fruta é batida e a casca da semente é descartada. Em seguida, é pasteurizada, eliminando assim qualquer perigo de mosquito. “De 18 quilos do fruto, a gente consegue produzir 12 quilos de polpa”, revela.

O grupo investiu em uma assessoria de branding, a paulista Ponto Criativo, para a criação da marca, para fazer uma conexão emocional, fazer sentir o espírito da Amazônia. O mascote da marca é a Ararajuba, uma arara em extinção, de cor amarela que se alimenta do fruto. Existem cerca de duas mil aves. A ideia é que parte dos lucros seja destinada a pesquisas e ações de preservação da espécie.

The fruit, which looks like a purple-ish blueberry, is practically 100% Brazilian. 90% of the fruit sold around the world is harvested in the capital of Para, where its terroir provides the berry’s delicious flavor. Despite its Brazilian roots, the United States is one of the biggest consumers of acai in the world.

Estados Unidos, a Fancy Food Show, na Califórnia, foi um sucesso. A estratégia de marketing se concentra no visual merchandising e na degustação dos produtos dentro dos supermercados. “Hoje, redes como Whole Foods, Milano, Fresh Market e Publish já estão no nosso cenário. Estamos nos preparando para enviar dez cointainers por mês aos Estados Unidos”, destaca Vaz. O Native Berries é um produto 100% orgânico, livre de agrotóxicos e fertilizantes. O congelamento da fruta acontece por meio de uma tecnologia update no ramo alimentício: o Flash Freezing. “Fazemos um congelamento em 15 minutos e só depois a gente embala num saquinho que lembra o de picolé. Fácil de abrir e na medida certa”, detalha o empresário. A frio, em que as propriedades da fruta não são perdidas no processo.

Após o produto finalizado, a mercadoria segue para o container que sai de Belém e demora em torno de 18 dias para chegar em Miami. Até Los Angeles são quase 25 dias.

Mas porque uma empresa brasileira investe nos Estados Unidos e não no país de origem? “Os Estados Unidos estão muito à frente na questão dos orgânicos e dos alimentos saudáveis, incluindo os selos de qualidade que envolvem diversas exigências”, conclui Vaz.

About 18 years ago, three gringos brought the productto America.

Since then, all things açaí-based became a huge hit. Today, you can buy açaí powder, açaí shampoo and açaí-based medicine. Heir of one of Brazil’s biggest labs, Sabin, Rafael Vaz, 28, was living in Miami when he got offered a partnership from Native Berries, a product that had just hit the shelves of supermarkets in California and Florida. “My cousin introduced me to the project, created by a Spanish who, with the help of a consultant, wanted to introduce açaí to the world. I was immediately attracted to the idea”, says Vaz, who has a partnership with people like Javier Salvador, Marcelo Vaz and Isaac Benchimol.

Before starting production, they went to Para to meet the 50 families that harvest and sell the fruit to a local organization. The partners hired six of them. To avoid any quality loss, they bought a medium-sized processing plant in Belem, where the fruit is mixed and the seed’s coats are discarded. Afterwards, the fruit is pasteurized, thus eliminating any risk of contamination. “From 18 kilos of fruit, we can yield about 12 kilos of pulp”, he says.

The group hired a branding agency, the Sao Paulo-based Ponto Criativo, to create the brand’s identity, with an special focus on making an emotional conection to the Amazonian roots of the fruit. The brand’s mascot is the Ararajuba, a type od yellow-colored macaw who feeds on the fruit and is currently endangered. Today, there are about 2000 birds in the wild. The plan is giving part of the profits to research institutes, thus helping preserve the species.

The debut of Native Berries in the biggest organic fair of the United States, the Fancy Food Show, held in California, was a big success. The marketing strategy consists on visual merchandising and free samples of the products inside supermarkets. “Today, chains like Whole Foods, Milano, Fresh Market and Publish are already in our scenario. We plan to ship ten containers per month to the USA”, says Vaz. Besides being 100% organic, Native Berries is also pesticide and fertilezer-free. Moreover, all fruit is frozen using a new technology: flash freezing. “We freeze all pulp in just 15 minutes and then we pack it in a plastic bag that looks like a popsicle package: easy to open and with just the right amount”, he says. The technique resembles the proccess known as cold-pressing.

When the product is ready, the finished goods are transported to a container that is then shipped from Belem, taking about 18 days to arrive in Miami and 25 days to arrive in Los Angeles. But why is this company investing in the USA, and not in its country of origin? “The United States are way ahead of us on the matter of organic and healthy food. This includes a series of quality seals and different requirements”, he says.

With all charm Parisian culture deserves, one of the restaurant’s best assets are its opening hours: the restaurant is open 24/7, seven days a week. A celebrity magnet, the five restaurants – located in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre – serve more than 70 thousand clients every month. The menu offers a wide variety of Parisian dishes, reinterpretations and inventions made by the chef. Here are the news for those visiting or living in Miami: the restaurant will open an unit in the city.

After deciding to internationalize the brand, the next step was choosing the location of the new restaurant. This vintage bistro will be located on Collins Avenue, facing the fabulous W Hotel and one block away from hotels Setai and One. It seems like the street, with its contemporary architecture, was just awaiting this news. At the center of the city’s touristic rush, which includes a lot of Brazilians, the location is perfect.

The restaurant’s construction is already in progress. One of the most popular dishes, the iconic grand gateau à la Paloma Bernardi, has a fixed position on the menu. Featuring a chocolate popsicle, hazelnut cream, condensed milk and strawberries, this dessert is the most requested dish in the chain – and also the most coveted among the stars. The most requested main course is the crevettes à la Bruno Gagliasso, made with grilled shrimp, provencal rice with mushrooms, concasse tomatoes, and white wine reduction. You gotta try this!

brasileiro Gutemberg de Oliveira cresceu em meio a caçarolas. Aprendeu com a mãe suas primeiras receitas, mas buscou aperfeiçoar seu dom nas escolas de gastronomia de Paris. Por 20 anos, comandou um dos bufês de maior destaque de Brasília. Mas Gute queria expandir seus horizontes e, desde janeiro, atua como personal chef em Miami.

Nascido em Salvador, ele chegou em Brasília ainda criança, quando começou a descobrir os segredos da culinária na cozinha de dona Nadir, sua mãe. Ela o ensinou alguns truques, mas foram os amigos da igreja que viram seu talento. “Eles começaram a me encomendar doces”, conta. E a brincadeira o inspirou a seguir carreira.

Após cursos e estudos na capital francesa, Gutemberg voltou para o Brasil um chef completo. Na época, foi lançado no mercado pela amiga Anna Paola Pimenta da Veiga, mulher do ministro Pimenta da Veiga, com o Oficina do Gourmet. “Ela recebia muito em casa. Lá, cozinhei para grandes figuras políticas, como José Sarney e Fernando Henrique Cardoso”, lembra. “Conheci e encantei a sociedade brasiliense por muitos anos”, brinca.

Com um trabalho personalizado, ele atribui seu sucesso à sua finésse. “Sempre tratei as pessoas com muito respeito e simpatia. Um dos meus segredos é me adequar ao cliente. Não falo só de gastronomia. Temos que conversar sobre tudo”, conta o chef, que estudou Letras, toca piano e violino, conhece vários países e entende de arte.

Com rotina em Brasília que incluía festas e reuniões seletas, Gute resolveu fechar o negócio e se arriscar por Miami em janeiro deste ano. Um dos motivos foi a necessidade de descanso. “Eu precisava reciclar minhas energias.

Além disso, a crise econômica afeta diretamente Brasília.

As pessoas não contratam pela qualidade, mas pelo preço”, desabafa.

Hoje, aos 46 anos, leva uma vida bem diferente com o companheiro e braço direito, Thiago Byron. Atua como personal chef na casa dos clientes em eventos menores.

“Preparo o jantar para uma noite especial ou o cardápio para a semana”, explica. Gute admite que a nova rotina é bem mais tranquila. “Esse novo estilo está me desestressando muito”.

O chef é requisitado não só pelos brasileiros, mas também por norte-americanos que se encantaram com seu tempero. A saudade do Brasil? Ele confessa que sente falta do calor humano que só o brasileiro tem. “Nós somos um povo único”, brinca. “Mas a Flórida tem baladas, gente famosa, bons restaurantes e praias incríveis”, conta.

The Brazilian Gutemberg de Oliveira grew up between pan and pots. He learned his first recipes from his mother, but strived to develop his gift in culinary courses in Paris. For 20 years, he oversaw one of the best buffets in Brasilia. But Gute wanted to expand his horizons: since january, he’s been working as a personal chef in Miami.

Born in Salvador, he moved to Brasilia as a child, just as he started learning some cooking secrets at his mother’s kitchen. She taught him some tricks, but his friends from church were the first to recognize his talent. “They started to order some of my desserts”, he recalls. That childish joke inspired him to become a chef.

After studying in the french capital, Gutemberg returned to Brazil as a skilled chef. At the time, he entered the culinary industry with the help of his friend Anna Paola Pimenta da Veiga, wife of minister Pimenta da Veiga, with his buffet Oficina do Gourmet. “She always loved to entertain.

At her house, I cooked for a lot of important political figures, such as José Sarney and Fernando Henrique Cardoso”, he says. “I met and charmed the highest circles of Brasilia’s society”, he jokes.

Known for his exclusive service, Gute attributes his sucess to his finésse. “I’ve always treated people with respect and sympathy. One of my secrets is to always cater to each client. And I don’t mean only food. We have to talk about everything”, says the chef, who studied Literature, plays the piano and the violin, has visited several countries and knows quite a lot about art.

While in Brasilia his daily routine involved parties and private gatherings, Gute decided to close his business and move to Miami in the beginning of this year. One of the reasons behind this drastic change was his need to calm down.

“I needed to regain my energy. Besides, the economic crisis affects Brasilia directly. People don’t care about quality anymore; they only care about price”, he says.

Now Gute, who’s 46 years old, leads a very different life with his partner and right-hand man, Thiago Byron. Nowadays, he works as a personal chef in smaller events, some of them held in his client’s homes. “I can prepare a special dinner, or a weekly menu”, he says. Gute says that his new routine is way calmer. “This new lifestyle is making me less stressed”.

The chef is not only popular among Brazilians; many Americans have fallen in love with his spices.

When asked if he misses Brazil, he confesses that he misses the warmth only Brazilians have. “We are a unique people”, he says. “But Florida has nightclubs, famous people, good restaurants and amazing beaches”.

A favorite among Brazilians, Coco Bambu mixes sophistication and tradition, offering new versions of regional dishes. The franchise, born in Fortaleza (CE), has 18 restaurants in seven Brazilian cities and is one the most popular in the country. No one can resist their seafood dishes; invested admirers wait in line for hours to have a good meal.

The news is that in October, the franchise arrives in Miami Beach to charm those visiting or living in the city, in addition to bringing true Brazilian cuisine to America. Opening a business abroad was always Afrânio Barreira’s dream.

Barreira, Coco Bambu’s owner, studied in the United States and has a house in Miami. “This transition was motivated primarily by my visionary spirit; I like to take some chances and getting out there”, he says. On March 9, the businessman and his wife, Daniela, received the key to the city of Miami from Mayor Carlos A. Gemenez, in an event held on Conrad Hotel, located in Brickwell Avenue.

This act served as a confirmation that the city’s doors are now open to the restaurant.

A unidade de Miami Beach terá um projeto arquitetônico diferente do projeto do Brasil, com visual moderno e clean. O cardápio trará carta de drinks ampla, incluindo as tradicionais caipirinhas de diversos sabores. “O menu vai ser 80% de pratos já conhecidos do restaurante e 20% de adaptação com produtos da culinária local. São pratos do gosto da população da cidade”, afirma Barreira. O carro-chefe serão as receitas de frutos do mar, em especial as moquecas cearenses e tropicais, as que tornaram famosa a franquia no País. Além do Camarão Internacional, um dos mais pedidos.

O empresário espera que o restaurante em Miami seja o início de uma expansão massiva nos Estados Unidos.

“Queremos abrir mais lojas na cidade. É o sonho de todo empresário brasileiro conquistar esse mercado”, afirma.

Mas chegar até lá não é fácil. “As dificuldades são muito grandes, eu não pensei que seria tão difícil. Foi um processo caro e trabalhoso, mas mesmo com todas as dificuldades estamos bem animados”.

O restaurante será construído em um prédio histórico, de aproximadamente dois mil metros quadrados, e, por isso, conseguir permissões para reforma e construção foi a maior dificuldade encontrada durante a empreitada. O investimento chegou à soma de R$ 10 milhões e o restaurante contará com 250 funcionários, dos quais parte será contratada em Miami e outra irá do Brasil para a cidade americana.

The Miami Beach unit will have a different architectural style from the Brazilian ones, with a more modern and sleek look. The menu will have a big variety of cocktails, including the traditional caipirinha, which will come in many flavors. “The menu will be 80% traditional dishes and 20% new dishes adapted to local cuisine. These are dishes created with our new public’s preferences in mind”, he says. The main attractive of the restaurant are its seafood dishes, in particular the “moqueca cearense” and the “moqueca tropical”, which made the franchise famous in Brazil. There is also the famous International Shrimp, one of the most sought-after dishes.

The businessman expects the Miami restaurant to be the beginning of a massive expansion in the United States. “We want to open more restaurants in the city. Coming to America is every Brazilian entrepreneur’s dream”, he says. But getting there is not an easy feat.

“There are many challenges; I never thought it would be this hard. It was a demanding and expensive process, but despite all hardships, we are very excited”.

The restaurant will be located in a historic building, measuring about 2000 square meters.

Therefore, getting renovation and building permits was one of the biggest challenges faced during the enterprise. The investment reached the sum of $10 millions, and the restaurant will have 250 employees, of which some will be hired in Miami, and some will come from Brazilian units.

Anne não dispensa os cuidados com a beleza para manter o corpo em forma. Na última gravidez, engordou 12 quilos e perdeu oito deles em apenas um mês após o parto. “Amamentei três meses o Benjamim e isso me ajudou muito”, revela. Os cuidados com o corpo fazem parte da rotina de Anne em Miami, que faz atividades aeróbicas três vezes na semana, 40 minutos de escada e musculação para voltar ao corpo. “Também evito comer carne vermelha e carboidrato à noite”, emenda.

Anne mensalmente visita a cidade de Orlando para se divertir na Disney com as crianças. Em Miami, quando ela não está trabalhando, aproveita para curtir a cidade. Ela leva uma vida tranquila e gosta da cultura norte-americana. Passeios de barco e pela região de South Point, de onde se vê navios trafegando e um pôr do sol inesquecível, estão entre os preferidos. “Miami é perfeita”, resume a modelo.

Soon after, Anne met businessman Flávio Mendonça, a well-know Brazilian model in the 90’s. “We started dating when I was 20, and within a year I was pregnant with my first son, Nicolas, who’s now seven”. In 2012, the couple decided to start a new life in Florida, where Anne gave birth to her second child, Benjamin, who’s now a year and a half. Always balancing work and family, Anne still does modelling work, which includes ads in the United States, Europe and Brazil. “My husband and kids join me in all my work trips”, she says.

When it comes to keeping in shape, Anne never neglects her beauty regimen. During her last pregnancy, she gained only 12 kilos, losting 8 of them one month after giving birth. “I breastfed Benjamim for three months, which helped a lot”, she reveals. Staying in shape is part of Anne’s routine in Miami: she does cardio training three times a week, 40 minutes of ladder workout and weight training to get back to her old body. ““I also avoid red meat and eating carbs at night”, she says.

A homebody, Anne visits Orlando every month to have a good time with her children at Disney World. When she’s not working, she likes to enjoy Miami. She leads a quiet life and likes American culture. Boat trips around South Point, where one can see ships floating against an unforgettable sunset, are among her favorites things to do. “Miami is perfect”, sums up the model.

E tem ainda doces sem glúten. O lugar é encantador, a decoração é fofa e colorida, com mesas rosas e canudinhos de arco-íris, perfeito para levar as crianças e fazer um lanchinho. Eles aceitam encomendas para bolos e cupcakes de diversos tamanhos. Meu sabor favorito é o banana chocolate chip.

Eles vendem também um sorvete de flocos, no pote, que é de dar agua na boca. Esse lugar merece uma visita!

You can also order cakes and cupcakes in different sizes – the banana chocolate chip is my favorite. They also have a chocolate-chip icecream to die for. This place is definitely worth a visit!

PIZZA Ironside Pizza é uma pequena joia que muitas pessoas de Miami ainda não conhecem. UNHAS FEITAS Dragon Nails é um dos poucos salões em Miami que oferece o novo serviço Nexgen Nails, um tipo de manicure que tem um resultado semelhante ao gel. A diferença é que o esmalte vem em forma de pó, e as pontas dos dedos são mergulhadas no recipiente. Cada camada do pó vai se transformando no esmalte. O procedimento é bem mais rápido do que as unhas de gel, custa USD 35 e dura até três semanas. As unhas parecem bem mais naturais. Recomendo o Ken, que faz um trabalho incrível.

Painted nails « Dragon Nails is one of the few beauty parlors in Miami where you can try out a Nexgen Nails manicure. The difference is that, instead of nail polish, you dip your fingertips in a bowl filled with some kind of nail powder. The layers of powder then cover your nails, giving you a beautiful manicure. The procedure is much quicker than getting gel nails. Costing USD 35, the nail powder lasts up to three weeks. The end result is also much more natural. I recommend Ken, who does an amazing job.

COISAS DE CASA Homegoods é sem dúvida uma das minhas lojinhas favoritas para caçar coisas para a minha casa. Eles oferecem um pouco de tudo: móveis, objetos de decoração, utensílios para cozinha, acessórios para cachorros, roupa de cama, itens para o banheiro. É praticamente um Bed, Bath & Beyond, só que mais em conta e bem mais descolada. Super recomendo.

traído pelo nome, o poeta Olavo Bilac rabiscou eternos versos no soneto que dizia: “Vive dentro de mim, como num rio… Uma linda mulher, esquiva e rara”. Iara é o nome do poema. Com todo o sentimento que o movimento literário carrega, transportado para o presente, há uma Iara tão bela quanto os versos do século XIX. Ela se chama Iara Maria Resende Coelho Jereissati. Uma mulher que se tornou referência da alta moda na América Latina, a imagem dos shoppings brasileiros do grupo Iguatemi. Iara é uma espécie de embaixadora do luxo. Vive entre São Paulo e Miami, mesclando o approach urbano da terra da garoa com o clima praiano da cidade mais famosa da Flórida.

Nascida no município de Luz, no interior de Minas Gerais, deixou a pequena cidade mineira rumo à capital de Belo Horizonte. Enquanto esperava o início das aulas na faculdade de Direito, foi convidada para participar de um concurso de beleza. E venceu. Assim teve início sua carreira no universo da beleza, que lhe concedeu o título de Miss Minas Gerais e o segundo lugar no Miss Brasil 2004, cujo o terceiro posto ficou com a hoje atriz Grazi Massafera.

Enthranced by a woman’s name, poet Olavo Bilac wrote these eternal verses: “Lives within me, as in a river...

A beautiful woman, elusive and rare”.

The name in question was Iara. With all romantism that this literary movement entails, today we have a Iara as beautiful as the one depicted on these 19th century verses. Her name is Iara Maria Resende Coelho Jereissati, a woman who became a high-fashion icon in Latin America, and is currently the poster girl of the Iguatemi conglomerate. Iara is something of a luxury ambassador. She lives between Sao Paulo and Miami, merging the urban approach from the damp city with the sunny vibe of Florida’s most famous city.

Born in the little town of Luz, in the Minas Gerais countryside, Iara left the little town to go to Belo Horizonte. While she was waiting for her law school classes to begin, she was invited to take part in a beauty pageant. And she won. That was the beginning of her career in the beauty world, which gave her the title of Miss Minas Gerais and the second place in Miss Brazil 2004, just one position higher than now-actress Grazi Massafera, who ended up in third place.

Iara chegou a representar o Brasil em três concursos internacionais. Mas quiçá o seu destino já estivesse traçado com um dos empresários mais admirados do Brasil, Carlos Jereissati, presidente do Grupo Iguatemi, dono de 16 shoppings centers no Brasil, que conheceu em um evento. “Desse dia em diante, foram três anos de namoro ininterruptos até a data do casamento”. Os dois são pais de Maria Clara, de cinco anos.

Aos poucos, Iara foi inserindo o trabalho na sua rotina. Formou-se em Publicidade e se deleita com tal mercado. Hoje, Iara é a imagem dos shoppings Iguatemi e JK Iguatemi, ambos em São Paulo, programa ações e eventos sofisticados, geralmente elencados por algum projeto social. Ainda arruma tempo para cuidar do corpo, da mente e da alma, é adapta da ioga, dos treinos funcionais e do muay thai.

Dos momentos de lazer, Miami é seu oásis particular. Ela considera a cidade sua segunda casa. É em Sunny Isles Beach que mantém um apartamento onde sempre reúne a família e amigos.

Está por lá a cada dois meses. Apesar de ter seu próprio imóvel, não é difícil encontrar com ela circulando pelos hotéis St Regis e Acqualina, seus preferidos. Adora conhecer novos roteiros gastronômicos, parques ao ar livre, mercados orgânicos e museus. “Gosto do clima de praia, das facilidades que a cidade de Miami oferece e do visual lindo. Além de ter uma infinidade de programações para toda a família”, diz. “Mas para viver, ainda prefiro o Brasil”, confessa.

Dona de um estilo clássico e sofisticado, a bela não esconde a feminilidade e sabe explorar na medida as curvas de seu corpo. Sabe valorizar o colo. Prefere as peças de cintura alta.

Iara não hesita. Mas sem ímpetos. Quando questionada sobre postura de vida a partir dos mandamentos de uma miss, ela não se demora. “Ser humilde. Porque percebemos que somos apenas uma no universo de centenas de outras iguais ou melhores que nós”, conclui Iara, que estampou a capa da recente revista GPS|Brasília.

Iara represented Brazil in three international competitions. But perhaps her destiny was already intertwined to one of the most admired businessmen of Brazil, Carlos Jereissati, President of Iguatemi Group and owner of 16 shopping centers in Brazil, whom she met in an event. “From that point on, we dated for three years, until our marriage day”. The couple has a little 5- year old daughter named Maria Clara.

Gradually, Iara started working. She has an Advertising degree, and seems to love the field. Today, Iara is the poster girl for Iguatemi and JK Iguatemi, both located in Sao Paulo. She also organizes sophisticated events, usually dedicated to a noble cause. She still finds the time to take care of her body, mind and soul — she practices yoga, functional training and muay thai.

Miami is her private oasis; she considers the city her second home. She keeps an apartment in Sunny Isles Beach where she always entertains family and friends. She goes there every two months.

Despite having her own apartment, it’s not rare to see her strolling around St Regis and Acqualina, her favorite hotels. She loves discovering new restaurants, outdoor parks, organic markets and museums. “I love living near the beach, the variety of things Miami has to offer and the beautiful views. Besides, the city has something for every family member”, she says. “But I still prefer living in Brazil”, she admits.

Owner of a classic and refined style, Iara doesn’t hide her femininity and knows how to highlight her curves. She knows how to call attention to her neckline. She prefers high-waisted pieces. She goes for noble fabrics, like lace. The powerful jewelry reveals the attachment to tradition that mineiros know how to nurture.

But Iara’s elegance goes beyond her clothes. She is, above all, a woman of quiet gestures. She’s soft-spoken and a great listener, always looking people in their eyes. Her gestures are minimal, almost restrained. She acts gently and strongly.

Iara does not hesitate. But this doesn’t mean she’s a creature of impulses. When questioned about her attitude towards life based on a Miss’ teachings, she answers quickly. “Be humble. You realize that you’re just a nobody in an universe of hundreds of women who are equal or better than you”, says Iara, who graced the cover of the latest GPS|Brasília.

uem não sentiu um nó na garganta e ficou com os olhos marejados ao ouvir pela primeira vez a clássica canção da Disney nos alto-falantes do parque Magic Kingdom, em frente ao castelo da Cinderela? “Where dreams come true”, diz o slogan da Walt Disney World, em Orlando.

Viajar para os parques de Orlando inclui se envolver com a magia dos quatro parques temáticos da Disney – Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios –, e também nas atrações do Universal Studios, Island of Adventures e Sea World. Conhecer esse mundo da fantasia sem orientação certamente fará você perder momentos preciosos, como ver o Mickey, que só aparece uma única vez no dia.

Para que os sonhos se tornem realidade existem “fadas madrinhas” ou “gênios da lâmpada”. Nesse universo, destaca-se um jovem brasileiro de 22 anos, que se tornou conhecido como o “guia das estrelas”. Nascido em Belo Horizonte, Caio Giardini vive nos Estados Unidos desde os 14. Formado em Contabilidade e Finanças pelo Valência College, começou aos 17 anos em uma agência de turismo em Orlando e hoje atua como concierge. Resolve tudo.

Basta seguir o Instagram de Caio para ver seu prestígio entre as celebridades. “Quem deu o start na minha carreira foi a Adriane Galisteu. Ela é uma apaixonada pela Disney, chega a vir três vezes ao ano e toda vez se emociona no show de fogos e quer entrar no castelo da Cinderela. Em 2015, nos conhecemos e ela passou a me indicar”, lembra.

O trabalho premium se revela nas pequenas coisas.

«Quando guiei a atriz Nívea Stelmann, consegui colocá-la no backstage do show A Bela e a Fera, preferido de sua filha, no Disney Hollywood Studios. Algo a que as outras crianças não teriam acesso”, conta. Um feito difícil é conseguir um dia antes, o acesso ao castelo da Cinderela. A família do apresentador Rodrigo Faro e da estilista Lethicia Bronstein não tiverem esse problema ao acionar Caio.

A trip to Orlando’s theme parks involve being dazzled

by Disney’s four main parks – Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios – and also Universal’s theme parks, such as Island of Adventures and Sea World. Going into this wonderland sans guidance is a guaranteed way of losing many precious moments, like Mickey’s appearance, which only happens once a day.

To make dreams come true, you need a “fairy godmother”, or perhaps a “genie”. In this particular universe, 22 year old Caio Giardini has made a name for himself as a “VIP tour guide”. Born in Belo Horizonte, Giardini has been living in the United States since he was 14. With a degree in accounting and finances from Valencia College, Giardini started working at 17 in a tourism agency in Orlando, trailing his way up the professional ladder to become a concierge, his current job.

Giardini runs his own company, which is named after himself. Today, he offers his services to both private companies and famous people. He coordinates an team of remote tour guides, who offer everything from tickets and hotel reservations to private jets. Among the benefits of having a private tour guide are the FastPass, a service that reduces the time spent in line, great off-park suggestions or even tickets to a Orlando City game. “I have good connections, which allows me to offer these little extras to my clients”, explains the young man.

To check Caio’s reputation between the famous and the wealthy, one needs only to check his Instagram. “Adriane Galisteu impulsioned my career. She loves Disney, even coming so far as visiting the park three times a year. She always gets emotional during the fireworks show, and is always excited to visit Cinderella’s Castle. In 2015, we met and she started endorsing me”, he says.

Os serviços prestados custam USD 50, a hora, e o mínimo são seis horas por grupo com o máximo de seis pessoas para garantir a exclusividade. Giardini também atua na realização de festas dentro dos parques. Comemorações que os brasileiros começaram a descobrir após a dos filhos de Angélica e Luciano Huck. “São festas de, no mínimo, USD 50 mil”, conta.

Fazer uma big party em um parque norte-americano como o da Disney requer uma série de exigências eknow-how. Há regras rigorosas que envolvem logística e intermediação junto aos diretores. “Existem protocolos a serem seguidos. A comida tem que ser selecionada pela Disney, a decoração deve ser aprovada pelos arquitetos. Há o rito de entrada do Mickey, que é a terceira maior celebridade do mundo. Ele sempre surge em uma entrada triunfal. No Epcot, por exemplo, ele vem nadando”, explica Giardini.

Certamente, o luxo não reside no óbvio e, sim, nos detalhes.

That’s something other kids don’t have access to”, he says. Another feat is getting into Cinderella’s Castle. TV host Rodrigo Faro and Lethicia Bronstein’s family didn’t face the same challenges when they hired Caio.

Caio charges US 50 per hour, his minimum workload being six hours of guided tour, with groups of no more than six people — all this to guarantee an exclusive experience. Giardini also organizes parties inside the parks. Brazilian interest in these parties was sparked when Angélica and Luciano Huck’s children had one. “These parties cost at least USD 50 thousand”, he says.

Throwing a big party in an American theme park like Disney requires a series of conditions and a lot of know-how. There are a lot of strict rules involving logistics and many meetings with the park’s directors. “We need to follow a lot of protocols. All food needs to be picked by Disney, and the decoration has to be approved by the local architects. There’s also Mickey’s arrival — after all, he’s the third biggest celebrity in the world. He always makes a big entrance. In Epcot, for example, he swims towards the spectators”, says Giardini. Surely, luxury lies not in obviousness, but rather in the details.

á oito anos, o empresário brasileiro Richard Harary não sabia que existiam diferentes bicos de mamadeira, nunca tinha visto uma bomba de tirar leite e muito menos um remédio para cólica de bebê. Descobriu esse universo quando quase enlouqueceu ao tentar comprar, sozinho, alguns itens do enxoval da filha, Gabriela. Perdido em meio a tantas opções nas prateleiras e sem a ajuda de uma vendedora preparada, ele percebeu que esse poderia ser um negócio promissor.

Eight years ago, Brazilian entrepeneur Richard Harary wasn’t aware of the difference between different bottle nipples and had never seen a breast pump, much less baby colic drops. Harary discovered this universe when he nearly went crazy while trying to buy some of these itens for his daughter, Gabriela.

Lost amidst so many options on the shelves and without the help of a trained saleswoman, he realized this could be a promising business.

Em 1971, Samy criou uma empresa de confecção esportiva em São Paulo, que até hoje funciona e emprega 500 pessoas. “Desde os dez anos de idade, eu ia à fábrica ajudar e entender como tudo funcionava. Acabei aprendendo sobre todas as etapas, desde a produção até a venda», conta.

Nascido em São Paulo, Richard desembarcou nos Estados Unidos aos 18 anos para estudar Psicologia. Cursou mestrado na área e também business na University Central Florida. O empreendedorismo sempre o interessou. Hoje, administra a loja com cerca de seis mil metros quadrados, que conta com 130 funcionários. “Somos uma família e acredito que isso se reflete no serviço personalizado e cuidadoso que oferecemos. Somos a loja de bebê com o coração”, diz orgulhoso.

Dentre os serviços exclusivos, uma máquina de ultrassom 4D para a gestante saber o sexo do bebê, uma limusine para transportar os clientes e a montagem da mala por profissionais. “Sou eu quem responde quando um cliente manda e-mail reclamando de algo. Atendo o telefone do nosso call center sempre que posso e vou à loja quase todos os dias”, explica o empresário de 38 anos.

Durante a semana, Richard se divide entre a Macrobaby e reuniões com investidores da holding. Juntos, administram a loja de bebê e gerenciam outras seis marcas. Os planos do grupo são ousados e entre eles está a expansão dentro dos Estados Unidos. Aos finais de semana, para esfriar a cabeça, volta a ser criança com os três filhos: Gabriela, de oito anos, e os gêmeos Alexander e Rebecca, de 5. E, entre uma brincadeira e outra, ainda encontra tempo para seu hobby favorito: pilotar avião. “Quando estou no ar, eu me permito relaxar e ter um tempo só pra mim”, confessa.

Owner of an online shop, he stopped selling products like sunglasses and suitcases and started to focus on only one item: strollers. This was the first product sold on Macrobaby, an Orlando store that has, today, the biggest selection of baby products in the world. The store carries more than 40.000 products from 900 different brands.

Richard inherited his perchance for business from his parents. He’s the son of an Egyptian man and a Sudanese woman who moved to Brazil in 1950 to escape religious persecution — both of them are jewish. “My father, Samy, bought a dictionary, so he could communicate in portuguese, and a sock-making machine. After that, he never stopped working”, he says.

In 1971, Samy founded a sports clothing company in Sao Paulo that stills operates, employing 500 people. “When I was 10 years old I started going to the factory to help and to understand how everything worked. I ended up learning about every step, from production to sales”, he says.

Born in Sao Paulo, Richard landed in the USA at the tender age of 18 to study Psychology. He got a master’s degree in psychology and another one in business from University Central Florida. He always had a thing for entrepreneurship. Today, he runs a 6000 square meters store and oversees 130 employees. “We are a family, and I believe this affects the personalized and meticulous service we provide.

We are a baby store with a heart”, he beams.

Among some of the unique services offered are a 4D ultrasound machine for soon-to-be mothers who want to know their baby’s sex, a limo used to drive costumers around and professional bag-packing. “I am the one that answers when clients send an email with some complaint. I also answer calls in our call center whenever I can and go to the store almost every single day”, says the 38 year old businessman.

During the week, Richard shares his attention between Macrobaby and numerous meetings with his fellow investors. Together, they run the store and manage other six brands. The group’s plans are bold, one of them being to expand the brand within the United States. On weekends, to cool off, Richard turns into a child again with his three children: Gabriela, 8, and twins Alexander and Rebecca, 5. Between games, he finds time for his favorite hobby: flying airplanes.

“When I’m in the air, I can relax and have some time for myself”, he says.

ascido em Minas Gerais e criado no interior de São Paulo, o empresário Gilson Rodrigues saiu do Brasil em 1994. Motivo: a busca do antigo sonho de começar o próprio negócio. O destino? Estados Unidos.

Assim que chegou em terras norte-americanas, começou a trabalhar como garçom na cidade de Orlando. Pouco depois, foi promovido a gerente e permaneceu no mesmo restaurante por dez anos.

Em 2004, decidiu dar o primeiro passo radical para criar a sua própria história de empreendedorismo. Comprou um lava-rápido e, após um ano, vendeu para adquirir o restaurante Vittorio’s, que na época tinha capacidade para apenas 80 pessoas. Ele fez o negócio crescer e, hoje, acomoda 400 pessoas.

Born in Minas Gerais and raised in the countryside of Sao Paulo, businessman Gislon Rodrigues left Brazil in 1994. The reason? Following his dream of starting his own business. The destination? The United States. As soon as he arrived in American lands, he started working as a waiter in Orlando. A few months later, he was promoted to manager and stayed at the same restaurant for another 10 years.

In 2004, he decided to take the first step towards entrepreneurship. He bought a car wash and, after one year, sold it to buy Vittorio’s, a restaurant that at the time had a seating capacity of 80 clients. The business grew, and today it accomodates 400 people.

Atrás de novos desafios, projetou em 2011 um segundo empreendimento: o Gilson’s Restaurant, o queridinho dos brasileiros que visitam a Flórida. “Sem medo da crise que se abalava pelos EUA, comprei o terreno e comecei a construção deste projeto que se realizou na inauguração, em novembro de 2013”, lembra.

Seguindo com o tradicional cardápio, o segundo restaurante de Gilson ganhou destaque pelo espaço de lounge destinado a casamentos, shows e outros eventos.

Apesar de viver há mais de 20 anos no país, Gilson faz questão de manter o DNA verde-amarelo nos dois pontos. No amplo buffet e cardápio há salada, feijão, farofa, carnes, peixes, batata frita, bife à milanesa, estrogonofe, purê de batata, picanha, pão de queijo, Guaraná, brigadeiro, arroz doce, mousse de maracujá, doce de leite...

As opções são infinitas e fazem qualquer brasileiro matar a saudade de casa.

Bem frequentado, o Gilson’s tem registrado em sua lista de clientes grandes personalidades como Zico, Luan Santana, Zeca Pagodinho, Amaury Jr., Elba Ramalho, Carlinhos Brown, Latino, Jorge e Mateus, Jorge Aragão, entre outros. A cada visita, um registro para as redes sociais. No ano passado, o restaurante recebeu o Business Press Awards e ficou entre Os Dez Mais do Turismo, premiação criada pelo Grupo Travel News. “Para mim é uma satisfação ver que o sonho pelo qual sempre batalhei tomou forma e hoje tem vida própria. Os prêmios que recebi vieram para coroar minha trajetória e me dar a certeza de que estava no caminho certo”, orgulha-se.

Ambicioso e com projetos futuros na mente, Gilson continuará a fazer o que for possível para fortalecer a ponte Brasil-Flórida. “Orlando é uma cidade mágica, que transpira alegria 365 dias por ano e contagia a todos por aqui. Always looking for new challenges, in 2011 Gilson invested on a new restaurant: Gilson’s Restaurant, the darling of Brazilian tourists. “I wasn’t afraid of the economic crisis that afflicted the country, so I bought the land and started building the restaurant, which opened its doors in November 2013”, he recalls.

Following the traditional menu, Gilson’s second restaurant became well-known due to its banquet hall, intended for weddings, concerts and other events. Despite living in the country for more than 20 years, Gilson is keen on keeping his green-and-yellow DNA. The awards I won are an acknowledgement to career, and make me believe I’m on the right track”, he beams.

Nem sempre a fórmula é a mesma para cada caso, pois cada estratégia depende de uma análise criteriosa das necessidades e expectativas de cada um. São dezenas de categorias de vistos disponíveis com pré-requisitos bem específicos para cada situação, seja como executivo, empresário, investidor, estudante, esportista, artista, cônjuge, família ou habilidades extraordinárias. É para aqueles que estão vindo aos Estados Unidos não para buscar um hobby, ou um passatempo, ou para dar conselhos gratuitos, ou prestar serviços humanitários, mas para ganhar dinheiro. Você deve ter um empregador que deve garantir que você será contratado para preencher um cargo profissional e pagar o piso salarial. Cônjuge e filhos menores de idade vão poder vir com você, mas a esposa não pode trabalhar. Os filhos vão poder estudar nos EUA. Visto de Executivo (L1-A) – É um visto de transferência de executivos intracompanhia, aplicado aos executivos e/ou gestores de empresas multinacionais que se qualificam para imigrar, a priori, temporariamente para os EUA e tocar os negócios da filial (ou subsidiária) americana por aqui. O empregado transferido deve ter sido empregado pela empresa estrangeira por

pelo menos um ano contínuo nos três anos antes de vir para os EUA. O trabalho desenvolvido na estrutura da empresa matriz, obrigatoriamente, deve ter sido na função gerencial. O visto tem validade inicial de um ano, prorrogáveis por mais dois anos, até o limite de sete anos. O cônjuge pode solicitar visto para trabalhar. Os dependentes menores podem estudar nos EUA. Visto de Investidor (E-2) – Oferece a oportunidade de se trabalhar, gerenciar e controlar um novo negócio estabelecido nos Estados Unidos, com um investimento médio de USD 150mil. Quem tem apenas cidadania brasileira não se qualifica, é preciso consultar a lista dos países que fazem parte do Tratado de Comércio com os Estados Unidos. É um visto temporário ou de não imigrante, que pode ser renovado por um longo período enquanto a empresa estiver em opera-

ções. O cônjuge pode obter autorização de trabalho.

Green Card (EB-5) – É para quem quer investir por lá. A categoria foi criada para estimular a criação de empregos através de capital de investimento estrangeiro.

Cônjuge e filhos menores de 21 anos irão obter um cartão de residência temporário pelo período de 2 anos. Passados os primeiros 2 anos, aplicamos para remover o status temporário do cartão de residência. É importante frisar que qualquer processo a ser iniciado junto a Imigração Americana deve ser assessorado por um profissional competente especializado e licenciado para a prática do Direito nos Estados Unidos.

In the last few months, we have seen a substantial increase in demand for information regarding legal immigration to the United States. This comes mainly from Brazilian businessmen and executives seeking to provide this experience for their families, work or invest in the US market and also give their children of school age access to American educational institutions. The formula is not always the same, as each strategy depends on careful analysis of the needs and expectations of each client. There are dozens of visa categories available, each one with a specific set of prerequisites: there are categories fit for executives, entrepreneurs, investors, students, athletes, artists, spouses, family, professionals with extraordinary abilities and so on. We selected some of the most frequent scenarios and tried to answer some of the questions they raise.

Executive Visa (L1-A) – This intra-company visa is available to executives and/or managers who work in international companies and that are qualified to immigrate, at first temporarily, with the intent to oversee the company’s American branch (or subsidiary). The employee must have worked for the company for at least one continuous year within the previous three prior to admission in the USA. The function exerced in the main branch of the company must be, with no exception, a managerial one. The visa is valid for an initial timespan of one year, a period that can be extended for two more years at a tome, up to seven years total. The spouse may apply for a work visa.

Underage dependents may study in the USA.

Student Visa (F-1) — For those who want to go to an American college or academic institution. You will need to offer documents from the intended academic institution and fill in some specific forms. Usually, the consulate or the department of state asks for your bank account information to prove that you can support yourself without working during the period of the course. Spouses and underage children can also receive a visa, but neither you nor your wife can work in the USA. Underage children are allowed to study in the USA. Work Visa (H1-B) – This is a temporary work permit that can last up to six years and be extended when the candidate submits his Green Card application. This visa is for those who are coming to the United States not to pursue a hobby, provide free advice or to volunteer, but to make money.

You must have an employer able to ensure that you will be hired and paid a minimum wage. Your spouse and children can come with you, but your wife won’t be able to work. Children under 18 may study in the USA.

Investor Visa (E-2) – This visa offers the opportunity to work, oversee and control a new business established in the United States with an average investment of USD 150 grand. Those who have only a Brazilian citizenship do not qualify; you’ll need to consult the list of countries that have a Treaty of Commerce with the United States. This a temporary visa which can be renewed for an extended period of time while the company is in operation. The spouse may also obtain a work permit.

Green Card (EB-5) – This visa is perfect for those who want to invest in the US market. This category was created to stimulate the creation of jobs through foreign investment capital. Spouse and children under 21 will get a temporary residence permit for a period of 2 years. After the first two years, we may apply to remove this temporary status.

It’s important to note that every immigration proccess must be evaluated by a competent and specialized professional with permission to practice law in the US. The country will welcome with open arms all of those who meet the legal requirements and comply with the rules defined in each specific visa.

The huge success at the event caught the attention of major magazines like Architectural Digest and Vanity Fair. It’s also worth mentioning that Leonardo DiCaprio was the first celebrity photographed wearing something from the brand.

Today, the brand sells its products online, offering world-wide shipping. “Our message is universal. We want to put our activism out there. We may even open a store in Brazil.

Have you ever thought about giving your car a spa treatment? These two brazilian entrepeneurs opened up a beauty clinic for automobiles in Miami

m dia de beleza para cuidar da aparência, da saúde e da estética... E não é da pele, com hidratante, protetor solar ou creme antirrugas. Mas sim da lataria de carros, com selantes e ceras. Se sair com um veículo novo da concessionária já é uma sensação indescritível, imagine se aquele aroma de novo e o brilho permanecessem por mais tempo?

Essa é a proposta que os empresários brasileiros Paulo Fernandes e Alexandre Conil levaram para Miami com a Image Auto Detailing, inaugurada neste semestre. “Quando se trabalha com os produtos ideais, de qualidade e per110 « GPS-Miami

feitos para modelos específicos, é possível, por exemplo, melhorar a estética de um carro zero quilômetro em 60%”, garante Fernandes. A proposta não é apenas fazer a limpeza e o polimento dos veículos. “A aplicação, sob temperatura, luz e pressão ideais, é o diferencial da casa”.

O veterano no mercado automobilístico é especialista no que chama de “dermatologia de carros”. Desde 1997, Paulo dedica-se a estudar e se especializar em polimento e detalhamento de veículos, experiência oriunda de trabalhos para marcas como BMW, Porsche e Mercedes-Benz. “O segredo é estar por dentro do mer-

cado, conhecer os produtos certos, os modelos e o que é ideal para cada um”, diz.

A ideia da Image surgiu há 16 anos, em Boston, onde Paulo morava e inaugurou a primeira loja. Anos mais tarde, em 2011, visitou o Brasil e apostou em uma filial em Goiânia, tornando-se referência nacional no serviço. “Investimos na franquia brasileira e, como esperado, foi um sucesso. Tenho vários clientes de Brasília que vão para Goiânia só para cuidar dos carros”, conta.

Um desses clientes é o empresário brasiliense Alexandre Conil, que se tornou fã e propôs levar a Image para Miami. Pela grande quantidade de locadoras de carros esporte na cidade e o estilo de vida luxuoso, os sócios perceberam que um espaço de confiança para cuidar desses veículos era necessário. “Nós queremos tornar a Image um lugar onde os brasileiros possam deixar os carros quando forem para o Brasil e possam pegá-los conosco prontos para o uso, limpos e brilhando, quando vierem passar uma temporada”, adianta Paulo, que se mudou para Miami para acompanhar de perto o novo empreendimento.

Com a clínica – como chamam a loja –, a proposta foi levar para Miami o diferencial brasileiro, com um ambiente pensado para um dia de estética. A iluminação e a temperatura são essenciais para um trabalho perfeito. O espaço conceito abriga um café, com todos os mimos para quem gosta de acompanhar os reparos no carro. Bar, ambiente climatizado, wi-fi e o conforto de uma sala projetada para relaxar. “Não é comum nos Estados Unidos lojas e oficinas de carros que investem em conforto e requinte. Aqui o cliente nem percebe que está numa sala de espera”, acredita o empresário.

A loja em Miami tem atraído brasileiros que vivem por lá ou que passam temporadas, além dos norte-americanos.

Os clientes mais frequentes são os clássicos, como o Cadillac e os modelos esporte, como a tradicional Mercedes-Benz. “Nós somos muito requisitados pelos brasileiros, mas os norte-americanos compartilham nossa paixão pelos carros. Gostam de ostentar e investir”, afirma Fernandes.

Dentre os serviços oferecidos estão a revitalização, que corrige a lataria sem lixar; espelhamento, em que o maior brilho é a meta; e selamento, processo que dá maior proteção contra sol, chuva ácida, maresia e outros danos.

Fernandes é um dos poucos que têm licença para aplicar o Selantic-pro. O produto cria uma espécie de película sobre a pintura do carro e nada é capaz de arranhar a lataria.

Os preços da lavagem e tratamentos variam de USD 250 a USD 2,5 mil e a manutenção é recomendada a cada oito meses. “Como consultor, posso indicar selantes específicos ou tratamentos com cerâmica, titânio ou tecnologia nano, que é uma das melhores marcas”, explica.

A day to treat yourself, taking care of both your health and appearance... but instead of moisturizers, sunscreen or anti-aging creams, paint sealants and car wax. We all know driving a new car is an indescribable feeling, but what if that heavenly smell and shine lasted forever?

That’s the idea behing Image Auto Detailing, a car wash service created by Paulo Fernandes and Alexandre Conil that opened up in Miami this semester. “When you work with the best products, perfect for each car, it’s possible to make a brand new car look 60% better”, says Fernandes. The idea is not only cleaning and polishing these vehicles. “The application of wax under perfect temperature, light and pressure is what sets our service apart”.

A veteran of the automotive segment, Fernandes is an expert in what he calls “car dermatology”. Paulo has been studying car detailing since 1997, working at places like BMW, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz.

“The secret is to understand the market, getting to know the right products and cars, and what is best for each one”, says.

The ideia came up in Boston, where Paulo used to live and where he opened his first shop, about 16 years ago. Years later, in 2011, he visited Brazil and opened a branch in Goiania, where the service became a reference. “We invested in a brazilian branch, and it was a huge sucess, just as we expected. I have a lot of clients from Brasilia who go to Goiania only to take care of their cars’, says.

One of his clientes is Alexandre Conil, an entrepeneur from Brasilia who became a fan and suggested to take the business to Miami. The partners, aware of the number of car rentals in Miami, realized that the city needed a place where those cars would be properly tended to. “We want to turn Image into a place where brazilians can leave their car while traveling to Brazil and pick them up later, ready to use, all shiny and clean, when they return”, says Paulo, who moved to Miami to manage the new enterprise.

The idea behing the clinic – how both call the carwash – was to bring a “brazilian feeling” to Miami, with a special focus on aesthectics. Lighting and temperature are the key to a perfect job.

The conceptual space has a fully-equiped café for those who like to be pampered while waiting for their car to get ready. The “clinic” has a bar, air conditioner, wi-fi and the comfort of a room projected specially for relaxing. “We don’t see a lot of stores or repair shops that care about comfort and sofistication. At our shop, the client doesn’t feel like he’s in a waiting room”, believes the entrepeneur.

The Miami store has been atracting both brazilians living in the city and locals. Among the cars most frequently polished are classics, like the Cadillac, and sports cars, like the traditional Mercedes-Benz. “A lot of Brazilians come looking for our services, but Americans share our love for cars. They like to splurge and invest”, says Fernandes.

Among the services offered are revitalization, which repairs the body without sanding it; mirroring, which gives the car a nice shimmer; and sealing, a process that protects the car from the sun, acid rain, marine humidity and other potential damages.

abertura do Faena Hotel em Miami Beach, no último inverno, trouxe para os apreciadores de carne mais uma opção de restaurante que promete tornar-se um dos hot spots da cidade. É Los Fuegos, comandado pelo chef Francis Mallmann. Celebrando a sua estreia em solo norte-americano, Mallmann faz do tradicional assado argentino uma ótima experiência adaptada à atmosfera contemporânea da cidade.

Um dos hits foi implementar o formato sul-americano, a famosa churrasqueira ao ar livre, cuja cozinha foi adaptada para realizar a técnica em um ambiente urbano. Para tal, foi concebido um grande forno à lenha.

O projeto teve sua criação no Texas, com a execução de pranchas e ganchos para pendurar peixes e carnes. Além disso, Mallmann confeccionou utensílios especiais em cobre, madeira, ferro, porcelana, mármore e aço.

“A cozinha de Mallmann capta o espírito vibrante da América do Sul. The opening of Faena Hotel in Miami Beach, last winter, introduced to meat lovers a new restaurant that is bound to become one of the city’s hot spots. The name of the restaurant is Los Fuegos, a place runned by chef Francis Mallmann.

Celebrating his debut on American soil, Mackenzie makes the traditional Argentinean barbecue a great experience adapted to the contemporary atmosphere of the city.

One of the challenges was following the rules of Argentine barbecue, which is usually cooked outdoors. To this end, the restaurant’s kitchen was adapted to an urban environment, receiving a large wood oven. The project was born in Texas, where the meat hooks where manufactured. Besides that, Mallmann fashioned special utensils in copper, wood, iron, porcelain, marble and steel.
