Fu Funeral neral H Homes omes M Merge erge Long-time Trenton funeral businesses have merged, with the owners forming a new partnership. Vince and NiCole Neal and Dewayne and Janet Slater are owners of the new funeral business, which is operating under the name of Resthaven Mortuary, Inc. and includes operations of the former Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home, Slater Funeral Home and Resthaven Mortuary. The transition was effective on Jan. 1. The former Slater Funeral Home building on Ninth Street will be closed during the next few months while the Whitaker-Eads facility will be renamed Slater-Neal Funeral Home. Resthaven Mortuary will keep its name. According to Neal and Slater, operations will remain as they have been in the past, with all pre-need agreements already made through both facilities being honored. Individuals already employed by both funeral homes will now be employed by the new business. The Slater Funeral Home began business at Trenton in 1951, with Dewayne and David assuming ownership after the retirement of Dewayne’s father, Donald. The current-day Whitaker-Eads/Resthaven Mortuary was established in 1926, with Vince and NiCole assuming ownership nearly nine years ago.
