Best Practices Recognized
County Conservation Awards Presented The Grundy County Soil and Water Conservation District honored two farm families during a luncheon on Friday afternoon at the North Central Missouri College Barton Farm Campus. David and Bonnie Kramer were named the 2020 “Cooperator of the Year” in recognition of their farm practices while John and Frances Engleman were named the “Soil Health Steward of the Year” in recognition of their efforts in improving the health of their farmland. The awards were presented by board members David Meservey and John Rice. The Kramers purchased their family farm, located southeast of Trenton, about 20 years ago and have since added to it. The farm has a long tradition of notill farming, dating back to the mid 1970s, when
Kramer’s father, Maynard, purchased his first no-till planter. No-till is the predominant planting method currently used on the farm. The Kramers have also taken advantage of the Conservation Reserve Program, establishing grass waterways. The Kramers are working toward a goal of having all of their highly erodible land terraced, having already installed 27,200 feet of terraces and 21,500 feet of tile. In addition to their farming operation, David owns and operates Underwood Farm Supply, a retail ag input supplier and propane business, while Bonnie is a fulltime school teacher in the Riverside School District in Oakland, IA. The Englemans moved to their farm, located north of Laredo, in 1973. Starting with five acres of land
and working full-time jobs in Trenton, the couple continued to add acres to their operation and use both wide and narrow base terraces on their tillable acres. After retiring from their jobs in 2000, the Englemans added beef cows to their operation. They use costshare on terraces, structures and cover crops. Noncost-share funds have also been used on field drain tile on their bottom land and pond cleanouts on their old ponds. The couple also participate in the CRP program. In addition to the awards ceremony and luncheon, Luke Skinner, resource conservationist forester with the Natural Resource Conservation staff, gave a presentation on conservation practices.
Harrison County Sheriff Josh Eckerson has died as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident occurred late Thursday night at a residence in Bethany, where the sheriff’s department, Bethany Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol were called to at around 10:16 p.m. MSHP Sgt. Jake Angle said law enforcement found Eckerson to be deceased at that residence. Angle said that further investigation into the death would be conducted by the Bethany Police Department. Angle also confirmed the patrol had been requested to conduct an investigation of Eckerson regarding an incident on Feb. 26 and had submitted a probable cause affidavit to special prosector Adam Warren. Warren had filed three charges against Eckerson in Daviess County Circuit Court on Thursday, including misuse of official information by a public servant, first degree trespassing and domestic assault. All three charges were misdemeanors See Sheriff, Page 3

Andy Hill Set To Join Chiefs
TRENTON REPUBLICAN-TIMES, DAILY, TRENTON, MO.

PATH TO PARK
Former Tiger Will Assist With Special Teams In KC Andy Hill is joining the champs. Hill, a 1980 Trenton High School graduate, was named the assistant special teams coach for the world champion Kansas City Chiefs on Friday. Hill served as the special teams coordinator for the Missouri Tigers during the past two seasons, his 23rd and 24th seasons on the Tigers’ coaching staff. However, when Missouri transitioned from Barry Odom to Eliah Drinkwitz after this past season, Hill - who served under Larry Smith, Gary Pinkel and Odom at Mizzou was not retained. That left Hill searching for opportunities and he found one with the Chiefs. In Kansas City, Hill will assist Special Teams Coordinator Dave Toub in coaching a unit that consistently ranks at or near the top of the NFL. Hill played for Missouri from 1980-84 following his graduation from Trenton. He was a volunteer assistant coach at Southern Methodist University before moving to Hutchinson (KS) Community College, where he was an assistant from 1992-1993 and the program’s head coach in 1994 and 1995.

softball coach. “When I transfered to Park I kind of got to thinking maybe I really don’t want to sit behind a desk and be in front of a computer. Maybe that could kind of be a side hobby. I think I started to realize I wanted to be in the sports field somehow. Derry looked into the nutrition and physical education fields as a way to stay close to sports. During her senior season, however, at a point when she was essentially graduated, Derry was asked about her interest in potentially staying around the program beyond her playing days as an assistant. One thing led to another and Derry found herself staying in Parkville after graduation to serve in an assistant role with Tingler, who was coming in to replace Amy Rief, Derry’s head coach while she was playing at Park.

Mr.
Trenton native Lindsey Derry returned to her office after giving the best pitch she possibly could to a potential recruit from Blue Eye who had made a nearly four-hour trek to tour the Park University campus. It was early August in 2016 and Derry had only just been named the interim head softball coach at Park after Missouri Sports Hall of Famer Steve Tingler retired from the post. Derry, who was an assistant coach under Tingler the year before, had been on campus tours with potential recruits before. But this one was different, being her first as the head of the program. There were nerves. Derry was anxious. What happened next was a turning point for a coach that only two years earlier had been on the Park roster as a player herself. Not two hours after the prospect left campus Derry’s

phone rang. “I want to attend Park, the voice on the other end said. Just like that, Derry had her first committment as the head coach of the program. “That was maybe one of the coolest moments, Derry, who is now entering the fourth year as the head coach at Park, said. “Just a kid saying ‘I trust this coach, I trust what is going to happen at Park’ and so forth. To know within two hours of having a conversation that it felt right. That was kind of a turning moment. I was like,

‘okay, this is a good feeling.’ I had an opportunity and I was able to forward that to another kid to have an opportunity. That was rewarding in itself.
Coaching was not something Derry had considered as a career path. Sure, the sport of softball had consumed her from a young age and, after a banner four-year career at Trenton High School, where she graduated from in 2011,
she knew she was not ready to stop playing the game. But when she enrolled at North Central Missouri College, she was looking at a potential career in graphic arts and design. That goal lasted through her two years in Trenton. But at Park, with the realization her softball playing career was coming to a close, Derry began to realize more and more that she wasn’t ready to leave sports behind. “It came later, I think, Derry said of her desire to be a

:: R-T :: Fate would have it that Tingler would retire after one year as the head coach of a program he assisted with for years. Park labeled Derry the interim head coach, charging her with guiding the program while the school decided what to do with the position. Ultimately, the school lifted the interim title and made Derry the head coach on an official basis. It was a meteoric rise for Derry, becoming the head coach of the program she was catching for only two years earlier. The first season under Derry yielded 22 wins, but Derry describes that season as a learning process. Derry’s job encompasses so much more than just putting together a lineup and deciding if it is time to change pitchers or not. She learned on the fly: building a schedule for the varsity as well as the school’s junior varsity squad, recruiting players, arranging travel for the team’s annual trip to Arizona, setting up practices and fundraising. Then there was the paperwork. Stacks and stacks of paperwork. It was overwhelming at times, but it also forced Derry [See DERRY, Page 3]

NO. 6 NORTH CENTRAL 74, NO. 17 ARKANSAS STATE MID-SOUTH 72 Derry Leaned On Mentors To Make Pirates National Tournament Bound Jump To Head Coach For Second-Straight [DERRY, from Page 2] to turn to some of the biggest influences in her life for help. “That was a huge challenge, Derry said. “There were a lot of conversations, a lot of tears. It was very challenging to try to figure out how to juggle the office stuff and also figure out how to get the team where you want them to be and where they want to be. I leaned a lot on mentors and I still do, but that was a big learning year. It was a year of reaching out to people and that is beyond my comfort zone. I’m a pretty introverted individual. Derry had no shortage of people to lean on, however, Her coach at Park, Rief, had guided the program for 10 seasons and was still in the Kansas City area and happy to lend advice when Derry called. Tingler, who made his Hall of Fame career coaching at Smithville while also assisting with the Park program, was also more than helpful. Derry also had several conversations with her father, Paul Derry, and grandfather, Jack Derry, both longtime softball coaches in the Trenton area. The support system was broad and Derry leaned on it heavily that first year. Derry might not still be here, entering her fourth season as head coach, had it not been for those mentors early on.
lot of intrasquad competition, so that is good to have. I also think this year we have stronger pitching than what we have had in the previous years that I have been coaching. “We’ve got off to a bit of a shaky start this season, but a lot of that comes with just repetition and getting outside and playing games. During her one season as an assistant coach under Tingler, Park ran a record of 37-17-1. The Pirates won the American Midwest Conference regular season championship and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament. That experience still drives Derry. “Every year you are shooting to get to the national tournament, Derry said. “We were able to do that four or five years ago and that was an awesome experience. You are always trying to get back to that point. Derry also puts an emphasis on classroom excellence and that paid off last year with 15 AMC Academic All-Conference honorees. Park also won the NAIA Conference Commissioners Association Champions of Character Team Award. That honor was bestowed on Derry’s program for showing exemplary character on the field, on campus and in the community.
:: R-T ::
Derry’s future isn’t set in stone. She is enjoying the ride, but she is very young for a collegiate coach. She could be at Park for years, but when success comes she will no doubt have options if she wants to move up the coaching ranks. She has a lot she wants to accomplish here, though, and that would precede any movements, whether it be to a bigger school or to an administrative role, something that also piques her interest. That interest is “years, years down the road, though, she says. For now, she is happy in her role and place in Parkville. “I’m happy where I am at, Derry said. “Park is a great place and it’s not too far from home. It’s a diamond in the rough back here along the river. That’s what we like to say.
Derry is hopeful her fourth season will be her best. Her career record through her first three seasons is 51-62. The Park Pirates stumbled out of the gates to start this season, going 1-5 in their first six games, but the team is in Arizona this week and that’s where Derry likes to get her lineups figured out. The warmth and dry climate allow the team to get in nine games in just three days without the threat of rainouts or cancellations. Derry is hoping once the team has its best lineup figured out, it can really get rolling. “We were able to pick up a couple of great transfers, so we are really excited for them, Derry said. “Then our freshman class is really talented just across the board. It’s making a

Year, NCMC Tops Mid-South At Districts
With 15 seconds left in Saturday’s Central Plains District championship game, the North Central Missouri College men’s basketball team turned the ball over on a shot-clock violation. Clinging to a two-point lead, the last 15 seconds felt like an eternity for the Pirates. Three times Arkansas State Mid-South put up a potential game-tying shot. Three times the ball did not find the bottom of the basket. North Central escaped with a 74-72 victory and a Central Plains District championship. And, for the second year in a row, the Pirates are national tournament bound. “It felt like a long time, North Central coach Jeremy Esry said of his team’s final defensive stand. “(Mid-South) had shots at the rim, too. It wasn’t like they were taking far away shots. The last 15 seconds or whatever seemed like it was an hour long. A game that came down to the final possession wasn’t always that close. In fact, for the majority of the game, North Central led by double digits. The Pirates led 2-0 and the game was tied at 2-2 before North Central went back in front 4-2. NCMC would never trail in the game and, after being tied for a second time at 4-4, used a 12-0 run behind nine
points from Marty Jackson to grab an early 16-6 advantage. Both teams endured cold shooting stretches from that point, but NCMC’s lead was still nine points at the midway point in the first half. With 1:56 left in the first half, Michael Horton lobbed an “alley oop toward the rim. The pass missed its mark, but passed through the rim for a three-pointer. Everything was falling the Pirates’ way at that point and North Central had a commanding 17-point advantage. Even with a 4-0 run by Mid-South to close the half, North Central still led 4229 at halftime. NCMC continued to show the way by double figures in the second half and MidSouth wasn’t within single digits until there was under eight minutes left to play. NCMC would push the lead back to double figures with under six minutes to go, but Mid-South embarked on one last rally attempt down the stretch. With1:24 left on the clock, the host Greyhounds had tied the game for the first time since it was 44, doing so at 72-72. NCMC was able to answer with a tipin from Atavian Butler, who came to life in the second half for the Pirates. He finished with 17 points, 13 of which came in the game’s second stanza. Following Butler’s basket, Quinan Rieves forced a turnover on the other end to give the ball back to the Pirates. That possession would ultimately end with the shot-clock violation and gave Mid-South its final chance with 15 seconds to go. After the three misses, the Pirates had the victory, their 27th of the year and moving them to 27-3 overall. “I thought our guys did a good job of contesting the layups, contesting the shots there at the end without fouling, Esry said. “We made it super hard on MidSouth to get anything easy. During the game we had more fouls than we would have liked, but in the clutch time our guys did a good job of not fouling and just mak-
Sports Briefs... KKids Club Wres stlles In Kirkssviille The Trenton Kids Wrestling Club participated in the Regional Tournament this weekend at Staley High School in Kansas City. The top four in each division advanced to the state tournament at the Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City on March 13-15. Trenton pushed five wrestlers through to state with Brayden Hughs (14U/100) leading the charge with a secondplace finish. Braylee Barron (8U/90) and Brayden Bell (8U/130) each advanced with third-place finishes and Chase Foster (12U/150) and Mason Rongey (14U/100) were both fourth to move on to state. Also in action for Trenton at the regional tournament were Ayden Ortega (8U/60) and Kash Barlow (10U/90), both of whom finished sixth in their respective divisions.
ing it hard on them. Jackson, the Region 16 Player of the Year, led North Central with 23 points and 12 rebounds and Butler followed with his 17. Rieves added nine points and seven boards and Damien Loyd had seven points and five assists off the bench. Defensively, the Pirates held Mid-South to just 4-of-18 shooting from three-point territory, a 22.2 percent clip. Mid-South shot over 37 percent from three on the season entering the contest. It was the second year in a row that North Central met Mid-South in the district championship game. NCMC won last year’s meeting 73-67 in Trenton. Now the Pirates will turn their attention to the national tournament in Danville, IL on March 17-21. Last year, North Central was just happy to get to Danville. NCMC was a threeseed in the Region 16 Tournament but overcame the odds to win the first region and district titles in program history. This year will have a different feel, however. North Central was favored at both the region and district levels. The Pirates were ranked sixth in the nation in the final NJCAA Division II poll and held the top spot in that poll for a 63-day stretch during the season. North Central should get a decent high seed in this year’s tournament after being the last seed in the 16-team bracket last year. “You can feel it in the celebrations the last two times, Esry said. “Last year we were pretty excited because we weren’t supposed to be there. This year, whether we are supposed to be there or not, we expect to be there. So our guys kind of have a different mindset. It hasn’t been as exciting for us, but I think we just expect to go (to the national tournament). It’s been more business-like this time around. The national tournament seedings will be released later this week with a full schedule to follow.

Four Trenton FFA chapter officers presented the program at the Thursday, March 5 meeting of the Trenton Rotary Club. Jeff Crowley was the program chairman. President Grace Allen, Second Vice President Allena Allen, Secretary McKenna Cox and Treasurer Kayli Crawford presented information about the organization and its activities. There are 85 members in the local chapter Brook Kreatz and Kabel Oaks are the chapter advisors. Each member is required to have a Supervised Agriculture Experience project, which can be either in the area of entrepreneurship (having your own agrelated business) or placement (working in an ag-related business). Members keep records of their expenditures and income, which help them learn about operating a business and being organized. The chapter is currently holding practices for its judging teams, which will compete at the district level later this month. Each of the girls also talked about how membership in the FFA has helped them in areas such as leadership, public speaking and organization. During the business meeting, members were reminded about making shoe donations for the Shoes for Orphan Soles project. Dr. Hannah Smith, an internal medicine physician at Wright Memorial Hospital was also introduced as a guest Next week’s program will be presented by Trenton Councilwoman Cathie Smith who will talk about the proposed hotel tax that will be on the April 7 city election ballot

THS AG INSTRUCTORS Trenton’s FFA program has had many great instructors throughout the years, but it’s tough to overstate the quality of our two current leaders: Brook Kreatz and Kabel Oaks. Mrs. Kreatz is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University who has been teaching at Trenton R-9 for 12 years and also did her student teaching experience here. In addition to middle-school classes she also teaches Ag I, Ag Sales, AgStructures and Conservation classes. She also oversees Supervised Agricultural Experience work projects. Mrs. Kreatz has also served as a valued member of the THS Leadership Team multiple years. Mr. Oaks is a graduate of the University of Missouri Columbia and has been teaching at Trenton R-9 for seven years. In addition to middle-school Ag classes, Mr. Oaks teaches Ag II, Ag Construction I and II, Food Science and Animal Science classes at THS. Mrs. Kreatz and Mr. Oaks have been leading the Trenton FFA chapter for seven years and together have built one of the top programs in Missouri. Under their direction, Trenton FFA has been recognized as the fourthranked Missouri FFA chapter in the National Chapter Award Program and is a National threestar-rated chapter (the highest level). They routinely produce contest teams that place at state-level competitions. This
past year, two chapter members received the State FFA Degree and this year five members will be receiving theirs as well. In 2019 six chapter members received the American FFA Degree. They were also able to work with Ms. Teresa Yoder to help her earn a State Proficiency Award and to be a National Proficiency Top 4 Finalist on her Ag Processing project. In addition to all the awards and accolades that could be listed, Mrs. Kreatz and Mr. Oaks are just all-around great people. Both teachers have many positive relationships with students, staff, and community members. They both provide our students with loads of meaningful learning experiences and practical advice about agriculture and life. They both work very hard to develop our students into caring, capable, contributing adults and lifelong leaders. All that hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. As a result, Mrs. Kreatz has been offered a job with Chillicothe Schools next year. Although we’re sad to see her go, we want to thank Mrs. Kreatz for the years she’s invested in Trenton’s students and know that Chillicothe’s students will be fortunate to have her. We look forward to a new level of competition between Trenton and Chillicothe and a new chapter in the Trenton FFA story under the continued leadership of Mr. Oaks.

Publishing Your Wedding Announcment In The Newspaper For Future Generations Story by Ronda Lickteig, R-T News Writer With all the planning that goes into a wedding and the magnitude of the day, it’s hard to believe that a few years down the road the details start to get fuzzy. By your 10year-anniversary you might have to think awhile before you remember who cut your cake (the groom might not know that detail long before that!). When your kids - and later grandkids - start asking questions, they might wonder if you were even there! Unless, of course, you have a record of the day published in the Trenton Republican-Times. Once upon a time nearly every engaged couple had their picture published in the paper announcing the impending nuptials. Then, of course, came the wedding announcement, complete with a description of the dresses for the bride and her attendants, the names of the entire wedding party and often their relationship to the bride or groom. If the bride carried out the “something old, something new, something
borrowed, something blue” tradition, those items were listed with the significance of each one included. A description of the cake was detailed enough to make your mouth water and have you reaching for a cup of punch. The details were printed on the R-T’s society page and then cut out for the scrapbook. Over the years the tradition of publishing the wedding announcement has faded as social media has become the way to announce engagements, weddings and just about any other milestone. While that’s okay, I have to wonder what will happen 10, 20 or 30 years down the road when kids, grandkids, etc., start thinking about those who came before them and want information about the high points of their lives. Facebook isn’t going to tell the details that will become more and more interesting as time goes on. My parents divorced when I was very young and their wedding (actu-
ally an elopement) wasn’t a big topic of conversation. I recently found the announcement in the Alexandria (LA) Daily Town Talk newspaper archives. The article said they were married in Natchez, MS, which I knew. What I didn’t know was that they had been the guests of honor at a shower hosted by my mom’s aunt and uncle when they returned. Not only did everyone reading that article in 1953 find out that Barbara and Ronnie got married, but more than 60 years later their daughter got to read about the shower and the 63 people who attended it thanks to digital newspaper archives. Who says newspapers aren’t still relevant? It’s easy to believe that we’ll rem e m b e r everything about the big day and we can even convince ourselves that no one will care 20 years from now.
But that’s just not true and the staff at the Republican-Times is here to make sure the details

Wedding Planning Tips & Tricks Recently engaged couples are often so swept up in the excitement surrounding their engagements that they can be forgiven for initially overlooking all the wedding planning that awaits them. Planning a wedding is no small task, but many couples very much enjoy all the hard work that goes into making their special day a success. It’s hard for newly engaged couples who have never before planned a wedding to know what awaits them. But the following tips can help make the wedding planning process go smoothly. • Find your organization method. Organization is the key to pulling off the wedding of your dreams. Whether your organizational style is best served
by jotting details like dates and deposit deadlines down in a notebook or utilizing an online spreadsheet or smartphone app, choose your method early on. Keeping information and reminders in one place can make it easier to manage all the tasks that lie ahead. • Take your time. There’s no rush to the altar. Feel free to extend the engagement long enough to keep stress levels down and get the location and ceremony of your dreams. Many recently engaged couples feel pressured to get married right away. Stretching out the engagement to save money or give yourself more time to plan can make for a wonderful wedding day. • Discuss the budget openly and honestly. Did
you know a New York City wedding can cost $77,000, according to Money magazine? Wedding costs can vary widely, and couples should sit down together to decide what they can afford and are willing to pay for. • Decide on a guest list. Planning decisions are often based around the projected number of guests. You’ll need to have a ballpark figure regarding guests before you can choose a venue and make other decisions, such as where guests will stay. And if the majority of guests are coming from a certain area, such as your hometown, you may want to bring the wedding

to them instead of asking them to come to you. • Create a priorities list. Make a list of at least three things that are most important for each of you. It may be the ceremony location, the food or another factor. Knowing what is important can help you negotiate prices and understand what
to look for when planning. These are some of the considerations couples should make while planning their weddings. While
it’s important to consider these factors and others, it’s also important that couples have fun when planning their nuptials.

Dear Annie: I believe my husband has a very serious disease. I'm an inveterate Googler and started noticing symptoms about a year ago. I mentioned his prevailing symptom to a friend in the medical field, and the condition I suspected is exactly what she popped out with. Also, my brother is an MD and he has told me that my husband should see a neurologist ASAP. The problem is that my husband won't see a doctor, and, even if he did, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't tell them what's really going on. He denies the symptoms that I've seen. I'm not the only one who has noticed. Without naming the disease, I've told him I'm worried and said that I know he'd feel bad if the shoe were on the other foot, but he won't make the appointment. I am worried and feel like I can't talk openly with anyone about it. If he does have the disease, it's incurable and terminal and, from what I've read, there are no treatments that can slow its progression -- yet. But I still feel like knowing would allow us to prepare. Is there anything I can do either to get my husband to the doctor or to find my
own peace? My friend said she sees this all the time and there's nothing to do but wait until my husband has a serious fall or accident. It feels terrible to wait for that. -- Worried Wife Dear Worried Wife: I am so sorry that you are going through this. Seeing your loved one suffer is heartbreaking. Your initial instinct to want to have him take care of himself is the most natural one in the world. His instinct to run away and avoid knowing what is wrong is also a natural one that comes from fear. Now that you know that both of your instincts are natural and fair, it's time for next steps. Sit him down and have a heart-to-heart with him, but don't tell him that you have been Googling around and playing doctor. Rather, tell him how much you love him and that you are afraid to lose him. Tell him that you will support him in whatever the doctor says but that you would really like him to see a doctor -- if not for himself, then for you, the love of his life. If that fails, ask your brother, a medical doctor, if he can help persuade your husband to see a neurologist. Best of luck

to you and your family. Dear Annie: Four years ago, I kissed my wife goodnight, and we went to sleep as usual. The next morning, she told me that she wasn't feeling like herself and wanted to spend the day with her friends. Later that evening, she called to say that she would not be coming home until she was able to figure things out, including if she still wanted to be married and a mother to our 10-year-old daughter. I tried my best to be supportive, hoping that some personal time would help. In the 12 years that we had been together, we both shared that each of us considered the other our soulmates. -- Betrayed by Soulmate Dear Betrayed by Soulmate: I am so sorry that your wife left you and your daughter. We will never know exactly why she did what she did, but what you can control is how you react to what she did. Now is the time to step into your personal power, if not for yourself, then for your daughter. Counseling or support groups can be very helpful at this time, especially for your daughter. You have to be mother and father for her, and that is a big ask, but you can do it with help from others who have survived similar challenges.

Rock bottom claims The fear surrounding the coronavirus outbreak stems in part from the tragic human toll: Tens of thousands of people sickened around the world with roughly 3,500 people dead. There is also mounting economic anxiety. Though recent data haven't shown many signs of damage to the U.S. or global economies, analysts expect the evidence to surface in coming weeks. So which barometers are they monitoring most closely? One gauge to watch for is the government’s weekly report on the number of people applying for unemployment benefits. Only people who are laid off from work are eligible

for such aid, so the figures can show whether job cuts are rising. Should the pace of layoffs jump, it would signal that the economy may be on the verge of a slowdown. So far, weekly unemployment applications remain near multi-decade lows. On Thursday, the government said that just 216,000 people applied for benefits in the week that ended Feb. 29th — a historically low number that fell 3,000 from the previous week. Few companies have yet announced widespread layoffs stemming from the coronavirus. And if the virus remains contained, job losses could stay low.

The van was northbound on Highway 13, five miles south of Bethany, when it went off the east side of the roadway, returning to the roadway. As the driver overcorrected, the van went back off the east side of the road and struck an embankment, coming to rest on its wheels, facing north. The youth was taken by private vehicle to Harrison County Community Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Ms. Blackburn was not reported injured. The vehicle was demolished.
