NCMC Board Meeting

The North Central Missouri College Board of Trustees will meet in regular session at 7 o’clock tonight (Tuesday) in the Frey Administrative Center on the NCMC campus. This is a change in the regular meeting time. Items on the announced agenda include administration of the oath of office to new board member Dr. NiCole Neal, consideration of the Head Start surplus list, consideration of a bid/purchase, discussion possible bond repayment/cost savings, discussion of a board meeting time and date change, consideration of a revised organizational chart, NCMC resignations and employments, Head Start personnel and reports from the Head Start Director, the vice president of academic affairs, the associate vice president of student affairs and the president. An executive session for personnel, legal matters and real estate is also planned.

Chamber After Hours

Lockridge and Constant will be hosting a “Chamber After Hours” on Thursday, Sept. 27 at its office in downtown Trenton. The Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. New staff will be introduced and refreshments served. Those attending are asked to use the back basement entrance on the Eighth Street side.

THS, TMS Bands Earn Trophies

Both the Trenton High School and Trenton Middle School marching bands came home with trophies following competition on Saturday at the Carrollton Band Day festivities. The THS indoor drumline and indoor colorguard earned second-place awards as did the band in the field show competition. The band was third in parade competition. Trenton competed in Class 3. There were 10 bands in the parade competition, eight each in field show and drum line and seven in colorguard. The TMS Band, meanwhile, earned a third-place finish in the parade competition. There were seven bands in the middle school category.

Mostly sunny this week with highs around 70 and lows in the mid 40s. The high on Thursday and Friday at the Government Weather Station at Trenton was 95, Saturday’s high was 72, Sunday’s high was 79 and the overnight low was 55. A total of .15 of an inch of rain was recorded on Thursday. The high on Sunday at the Government Weather Station near Spickard was 75, the low was 54.

The THS girls softball team took top honors in the NCMC Nan Carter Classic held over the weekend in Trenton. See page 4 of today’s Republican-Times for a recap and photos from games played on Saturday.

The Trenton High School Key Club is organizing a “Pink Out’ night to be held Friday, Oct. 19 during the football game against Maysville. The focus of the event is to raise funds, awareness and to show support to those in the school district and community who are currently fighting breast cancer and to demonstrate that no one fights alone. Key Club is currently taking orders for pink shirts that can be worn that night. The short sleeve t-shirt is pink and features the slogan “Paws for a Cause – Come Together for a Cure.” Shirts are $10 each for youth small through adult XL and $12 for 2XL through 4XL. Order forms are available on the district website at trentonr9.k12.mo.us under the “News” section. The deadline to order shirts is Tuesday, Oct 2. Shirts ordered by students and faculty/staff will be delivered. Orders from the community can be picked up at Dave’s Body Shop or business orders will be delivered. All proceeds from shirt sales will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Questions can be directed to Key Club sponsor Kara Helmandollar at 359-5966 or 635-0526.
