Greetings from Poosey. ’Twas told to me as true and the little gal was such a sweetheart that I had no choice but to believe her. According to Ellie, she has a good friend who lives in Chicago and this particular friend owned a large dog of some sort. The hound was not the little ankle-biting house trotter but a full-sized beast and her very best friend. But even big dogs have an expiration date and her dog died one day last week leaving the girl with the body of a very large animal to dispose of. It seems as though the Windy City has certain ordinances against burying large animals or leaving them out for the garbage man so she called her vet and he told her that his clinic takes care of the disposition of pets if she could somehow get the dog’s body across town to his office. Ellie said that her friend is on the tiny side and the prospect of carrying her departed pup across Chicago was out of the question, so the girl went searching around her neighborhood for someone who had a large suitcase that they wanted to dispose of. The girl found just such a case, rolled Rover into it, snapped up the latches and took out across the city. The gal really had no idea how much a big dog weighed until she started dragging him down the steps of her apartment building and the prospect of carrying the suitcase the two blocks to the El train was daunting. But what choice did she have? I just got them and didn’t want to damage them so I put them in this suitcase.” She said that the guy didn’t miss a beat or say a thing. He just took off down the tracks lugging the suitcase. The thief was making his own tracks with the body of her dead dog. She told Ellie, “All week I’ve been trying to imagine what his face looked like when he opened the suitcase. I hope he was in a crowd of people.” Well, that was about the funniest story I’d heard in a long time and I couldn’t help but wish that with the fall elections coming up and the Russians or someone else tries to hack into our election machinery, that they come up with a dead dog.
