Georgia Memory Net is known for helping Georgians living with memory challenges or cognitive decline get an accelerated, accurate diagnosis for Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. We also help the families of Georgians living with Alzheimer’s with connections to local support and educational resources that can improve their lives.
One such resource is our Embracing Improvisation video series, which shows how the skills of improv theatre can help care partners better validate their person living with dementia.
The first step to support is diagnosis. If you’ve noticed signs of memory loss or cognitive decline, don’t wait. Make an appointment with your Primary Care Provider and tell them about your symptoms. They may refer you to Georgia Memory Net for diagnosis. Visit GaMemoryNet.org/referrals to learn more.

It’s a great way to balance your busy life with your love of GPB programming.
Here at GPB we’re always trying to find the right way to tell Georgia’s story – Your story. Whether it’s programming that highlights the beauty and uniqueness of our state’s people and natural resources, informative shows and stories that bring light to the work of Georgia legislators or contextual and well researched and balanced reporting on any of our 21 radio stations across the state and online at GPB.org, you’re going to find a public media company at the ready to tell your story. This is a unique state filled with wonderful stories to tell, and where else but GPB should you hear and see them? Keep a lookout as we move through the year, and you’ll see more of this evolve as we strengthen our commitment to those local stories.
I always say if you only know that GPB is PBS and NPR, then you have just scratched the surface of this engagement engine for the state. Whether it’s the vital work of our education team across Georgia with state-of-the-art educational learning and instructional aides for the classroom or our 27 towers and sites across the state weaving together the Emergency Management System or the deep and abiding work we do connecting communities together across Georgia’s unique landscape of people and places, you benefit from us so much more than you may realize! Thanks for making all of that happen, and more! And as always, thanks for tuning in to GPB!
Warmest regards,

First celebrated on April 22, 1970 to raise awareness of environmental issues, Earth Day has expanded over the years to become Earth Month, an annual event focusing on environmental initiatives and education throughout April.
This month, GPB celebrates Earth Month with a variety of programs, including the series View Finders that captures the awe-inspiring beauty of landscapes across the United States, and EcoSense for Living, a series exploring the planet-saving work of scientists, organizations and conservationists across the country and beyond.
First, new episodes of season three of View Finders continue Monday nights at 9:30 beginning April 7. Co-hosts Chris Greer and Paul Daniel invite viewers on an adventure each week as they take photos of beautiful landscapes and speak with experts about each location. Truly an immersive experience, View Finders will inspire viewers to get outside in nature.
“Flaming Gorge” | Monday, April 7 | 9:30 PM
The Flaming Gorge National Recreation area is famous for its fishing, but the natural beauty is just as impressive. Chris and Paul explore the gorge by car, foot, and boat to capture some beautiful photographs and soak in the rugged landscape.
“New Hampshire” | Monday, April 14 | 9:30 PM
The dynamic and changing conditions of the White Mountains were in full effect as View Finders explored the region. Peak fall colors created rich settings for photography, but winter made a visit during their ascent of Mt. Washington.
“Golden Isles” | Monday, April 21 | 9:30 PM
Chris and Paul head to the idyllic Golden Isles to photograph St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island. In the process, they meet with experts who talk about the history and ecology of the region.
“Vermont” | Monday, April 28 | 9:30 PM
Chris and Paul spend time exploring Stowe and the Green Mountains of Vermont during autumn. While photographing quintessential New England scenery, they learn about conservation efforts that are preserving this land for future generations to enjoy.
Next, Tuesdays April 22-April 29, GPB will premiere four new episodes of EcoSense for Living, including:
“Beaver Believers” | Tuesday, April 22 | 7 PM
Ben Goldfarb, the author of EAGER: The Surprising Secret Life of Beavers & Why They Matter, weaves the incredible true tale of how beavers influenced the history of America.
“Snow & Flow” | Tuesday, April 22 | 7:30 PM
Wolverines are rarely seen, living reclusive lives deep within high, snowy mountains. EcoSense visits Zoo Montana to see the only wolverine kit born in captivity that year.
“Untamed” | Tuesday, April 29 | 7 PM
Wild horses, a symbol of the American west, have long held a special status and protection under the law. Also in this episode, a group from Georgia’s Savannah College of Art and Design explore how the natural world influences design in surprising and helpful ways.
“The Art of Nature,” | Tuesday, April 29 | 7:30 PM
Like many conserved places, Berheim Forest & Arboretum in Kentucky faces encroaching development and pollution, and a Berheim naturalist tells of the wonders of wild night walks and why you should take them.
Get inspired for Earth Month with these special programs, and check this month’s program listings for new episodes of NATURE and more.
In partnership with Macon’s Shurling Public Library, GPB’s Early Learning Specialist Ambria King hosted PBS KIDS Week – a week-long afterschool program for kids ages five to nine. The activities centered around the PBS KIDS show Lyla in the Loop, which encourages children to be creative problem solvers and think critically, skills often seen in the computer science industry.
Young learners practiced coding with PBS KIDS’s ScratchJr. and created pattern bracelets, learning that an algorithm is just a pattern! They explored sequencing by creating their own dances, inspired by Lyla’s carrot cake dance. On the final night, they used their engineering skills to design, build, test and improve their own carnival games.
“The community of East Macon loved the Week with PBS KIDS event and is excited for more programs.”
Shanette Adams, Shurling Library Branch Manager
“The community of East Macon loved the Week with PBS KIDS event and is excited for more programs,” said Shurling Library branch manager Shanette Adams. “Large organizations rarely come to East Macon, so this partnership has been a highlight for us. We are genuinely appreciative of the opportunity and cannot wait to see what the future holds.”
We look forward to providing more opportunities for families to engage with GPB and PBS KIDS content in this community. Visit gpb.org/family for more information.
GPB partnered with the Georgia Public Library Service and the Morton Theatre in Athens to host a screening of the new documentary Free for All: The Public Library on January 23. State Librarian Julie Walker and GPB’s Chase McGee spoke after on the role of public libraries in our communities and the resources the people might not know libraries offer, like free tickets to Georgia attractions, including state parks, the Center for Puppetry Arts and many others. Visit georgialibraries.org/passes or go to your local library for more information.
Free for All: The Public Library tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. Meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all.
film premieres Tuesday, April 29 at 10 p.m.
If you’re inspired to visit your local library after viewing Free for All: The Public Library, GPB’s Narrative Edge podcast, hosted by Peter Biello and Orlando Montoya, is the place to listen to find out about books you may want to check out with Georgia connections.

Each spring, we turn over our airwaves to the GPB Development Team to raise awareness and, you guessed it, essential funding. And while this spring will be no different, we’re excited for the opportunity to share more of our vision to unite and uplift Georgia. Sure, listeners have come to rely on Morning Edition and All Things Considered during their daily commutes, but GPB is so much more than the incredible programming available from NPR and PBS. Our commitment to local storytelling and emergency management systems unite through the dependable distribution of reliable information when it matters most. Our robust educational resources and community events uplift through lifelong learning and connection.
GPB belongs to you! So, what does that mean exactly? Why do we come to you on the air each spring? It’s simple! You are the central character in everything we do. Your engagement is the driving force of our work. Your gift of support is the consistent source keeping all Georgians of all ages informed, entertained and safe. Now, what’s more uplifting than that?
Throughout the Spring Radio Drive, we’ll bring you more of the programs you listen to each day without interruption. Participate in the drive in whatever way you can!
Listen. Share. Support. It all makes an impact in our work – for you, for Georgia.
