Dear GPB Donor,

Happy New Year from all your friends at GPB! I hope that you’ve settled in to read this issue of GPB Next after a warm and prosperous holiday season. January is a time of renewal in so many ways, and it’s a great time to adjust our mindsets and make goals for the coming year. I hope you’ll name continued support of GPB as one of your resolutions this new year. Certainly, we’ll continue to provide you with all the educational, enlightening and entertaining programming you’ve come to expect from us in 2022.

Thanks to you 2021 was a great year for Georgia Public Broadcasting across all our platforms. The dollars you give provide all of Georgia’s citizens with programming that ranges from interesting to thought-provoking and even life-changing at times. That’s a vital mission that we strive to meet day after day, month after month. Thank you for that continued vote of confidence, gift of generosity and affirmation that we’re on the right track.

As you read through this first GPB Next of 2022 I think you’ll be amazed with all we can accomplish together starting with the exciting return of the endearing MASTERPIECE series All Creatures Great and Small highlighted right on the cover. You’ll also read about our Education division’s annual PBS Writers Contest, some new year tips from GPB Radio’s Life Kit and an enlightening piece on the power of your sustaining donation to GPB. On the television side, you can read about a new local program we’re excited to bring you - Home Diagnosis, a brand new program produced right here in Georgia to keep you on top of any range of home issues!

The long-awaited return of Finding Your Roots with Dr. Henry Louis Gates makes January all the more exciting, and new dramas The Indian Doctor and MASTERPIECE: Around the World in Eighty Days will certainly warm you up on some of those chilly January evenings across Georgia. Also, of note on the local front, GPB returns with its 52nd season of Lawmakers, Georgia’s go-to half hour for everything happening from a legislative point of view and the continuance of Your Fantastic Mind, a collaboration between GPB and Emory University exploring the inner workings of our brains!

And, finally, you’ll read about the departure of a GPB mainstay in Rickey Bevington. Rickey has been a fixture at GPB on radio and television for the better part of 15 years. She’s been an inspiration and a great friend to me, and I wish her well on a new and exciting journey you’ll read more about in our CEO Spotlight.

As the new year begins, one thing remains true – when it counts we’ll be here for you, and we’ll always remain thankful that you’re here for us!

Warmly,

Bert Wesley Huffman GPB President and Chief Revenue Officer
