Dear friends,

Welcome to the April edition of GPB Next, your guide to everything Georgia Public Broadcasting. From the all-important television offerings to the latest in radio and inspiring GPB Educational materials and tools for teachers and students across the state of Georgia, you can find it all here. As we move steadily toward Next’s one year anniversary this June, I hope you’ll consider reaching out to us and sharing what you enjoy reading. Our goal is simple -- to provide you with direct access to the things at GPB that mean the most to you. Our team works hard to dig into interesting stories across GPB’s mission pillars of Television, Radio, Digital, Education and Community. Is there a particular story that has piqued your interest? Have you learned something new? We’re always here to hear what you have to say. Just email ask@gpb.org or call us at 800.222.4788.

Your support of GPB is a powerful partnership. We often talk about how much your gift means to us but imagine how much it means to families across Georgia who cannot afford to give right now. Your support instantly provides them with hours and hours of educational, enlightening and entertaining television; news and information on radio that informs them while encouraging civil and balanced conversations; hundreds of educational materials that enhance the learning experience for Georgia’s kids and an interactive, up-to-date website where you can find it all. Plus, every piece of that is built on the foundation of Georgia’s communities and how we serve them.

This month on GPB begins with a classic American story told by PBS’ signature documentarian, Ken Burns. Join us on April 4 at 8 p.m. for Benjamin Franklin, an intimate and insightful look into his 84-year life and his unique contribution to American culture. And while an 84-year life was quite the accomplishment in the eighteenth century, today we’re living longer than ever, right? GPB offers you a fascinating look at potential treatments and prevention for Alzheimer’s disease in NOVA – Determined: Fighting Alzheimer’s Disease airing April 6 at 9 p.m. The rest of the month brings you television content as varied as the premiere of the exciting new series View Finders, the live return to the stage of the 2022 Georgia High School Musical Awards on April 21, and the poignant stories of Holocaust survivors April 26 with We Remember: Songs of Survivors. I challenge you to find more diverse, unique and interesting television on ANY other channel!

On GPB Classical, our HD radio station dedicated to classical music, we’re happy to welcome back John Lemley and his City Café to Georgia’s airwaves. He’s the latest addition to an already packed schedule of music that enlightens and brightens your day. GPB Education adds yet another of their Live Exploration series this month, and you’ll read about their collaboration with the Georgia Cotton Commission in the pages ahead as well. Unique community engagement opportunities, tips on how to maximize your GPB experience with added incentives and a reminder of what your support of GPB Radio does round out a jam-packed GPB Next for April.

And as always, I thank you for your kind support of GPB. Without it, GPB Next and everything it represents simply wouldn’t be there. Georgia is made even better with your support. And while we are so thankful for the time you spend with us, don’t forget to look outside because Spring has sprung!

Warmest regards,

Bert Wesley Huffman GPB President and Chief Revenue Officer
