RESTORATION EFFORTS

Letter From Our... Founders & CEO + President

It is with deep gratitude that we present ZOE International’s 2024 Impact Report with you, looking back at the life-changing miracles you made happen. Your faithful commitment serves as the foundation upon which ZOE stands, empowering our teams to venture into the world’s most challenging places and deliver restoration to those trapped in despair. 2024 has marked an extraordinary expansion in our outreach initiatives, demonstrating the power of your steadfast devotion to our cause. Through your investment, we witness children and families transform from bondage to freedom, from desperation to renewed purpose.

The words of John 10:10 continue to guide our path: while the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, Christ offers life to the fullest, filled with meaning and joy. This Scripture embodies and propels everything we do at ZOE, or ζωή–meaning “abundant life” in Greek.

United in purpose, we labor to share Christ’s love with those who have never ever heard, while rescuing the most vulnerable from the shadows of human trafficking and abuse, walking alongside them toward healing, safety, and transformation.

From all of us at ZOE International, thank you for being a part of our family. Your heart for justice, your persistent prayers, and your trust in this work motivate us each day as we press forward together.

Until every person is reached and every child is rescued.

“In December, ZOE Mexico hosted extraordinary festivals in Oaxaca and Puebla called “Happy Birthday Jesus” that drew over 1,000 people of all ages to celebrate the birth of Jesus and provide preventative tools. This celebration of light broke through the darkness of these regions that serve as sources, transit, and destinations for human trafficking.”

ZOE INTERNATIONAL MISSION & VISION

Since 2002, ZOE International has remained unwavering in our mission to Reach Every Person with the Gospel and Rescue Every Child from human trafficking.

With over 90,000 refugees living near the Thailand–Myanmar border, traffickers know where to strike. The ZOE Thailand Prevention Team is reaching thousands of youth with prevention training before it’s too late.

OUR MISSION

REACH EVERY PERSON

RESCUE EVERY CHILD

OUR VISION

That every person we reach and every child we rescue would experience God’s LIFE as described in John 17:3: “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”

Through these seven key programs, ZOE has made significant strides over the last 22 years in spreading the Good News, training followers of Jesus Christ, ending child trafficking, and restoring survivors and at-risk orphans. Our work is grounded in the teachings of Matthew 28:18-20 and James 1:27, guiding us in our divine calling.

We remain committed to these seven pillars, constantly seeking innovative ways to increase our impact and bring hope to those in need. With your support and God’s guidance, we will move forward with unwavering determination to fulfill our vision and transform lives around the world.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

REACHING EVERY PERSON WITH THE GOSPEL

In a world where information is at our fingertips and communication spans the globe, it is startling to realize that billions of people have yet to hear the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. These unreached people groups (UPGs) live in regions where the gospel has not been preached, and where there are no viable Christian communities to share the hope and love of Christ.

01

Vast Numbers:

Over 3 billion individuals and approximately 7,000 unreached people groups.*

RESCUING EVERY CHILD FROM HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Human trafficking is one of the most heinous and pervasive crimes in the world today, exploiting millions of people, particularly children, for forced labor and sexual exploitation. This modern-day slavery strips individuals of their dignity, freedom, and future. Despite global efforts, human trafficking continues to thrive in the shadows, affecting the most vulnerable in our societies.

The Scope of the Problem:

01 Global Crisis

Human trafficking affects nearly every country, with an estimated 49.6 million victims, globally including forced marriages.

02

Children at Risk:

One in four victims of human trafficking are children, often lured by false promises or forced into exploitation by dire circumstances.

ZOE’S SOLUTION

03

Complex Networks:

Traffickers operate through sophisticated and covert networks, making it challenging to identify and dismantle these operations.

JAPAN:

The Problem:

Japan’s population is estimated to be less than 1% Christian. ZOE is determined to share the gospel with everyone we meet. Many Japanese are open to Christ when they learn about God’s love. There are sophisticated and organized commercial sexual exploitation networks that target vulnerable Japanese women and girls through many means including abduction, force, and coercion.

Our Current Work in Japan:

AUSTRALIA:

The Problem: Traffickers in Australia primarily exploit women and men in forced labor, and to a lesser extent, women and girls in sex trafficking. Traffickers exploit a small number of children, primarily teenage Australian and foreign girls, in sex trafficking within the country.

Our Current Work in Australia:

THAILAND:

The Problem: Significant illegal migration to Thailand creates opportunities for human traffickers to exploit vulnerable individuals. Undocumented migrants are often coerced or defrauded into situations of involuntary servitude or sexual exploitation. Thailand is recognized as a significant destination for sex trafficking, despite making significant efforts to combat this issue, as indicated by its Tier 2 ranking on the Trafficking In Persons (TIP) Report.

REACHING EVERY PERSON WITH THE GOSPEL

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Shoes of Hope: ZOE Mexico’s “Sígueme”

(Follow Me) Campaign

Leads Children to

Christ

On April 30th, ZOE Mexico transformed Mexico’s National Children’s Day into a powerful moment of ministry and protection. Through our “Sígueme” (Follow Me) shoe campaign, made possible by generous partner support, we distributed new shoes to hundreds of children while sharing the lifechanging message of following Christ.

More than footwear, these shoes carried deep spiritual significance—representing each child’s journey in Christ’s footsteps and reminding them that Jesus sees, hears, and loves even the smallest among us. Local church leaders used this opportunity to connect with vulnerable children, combining immediate care with the eternal hope of the Gospel.

What sets this initiative apart is its dual mission impact: evangelism paired with the prevention of child trafficking. The participating churches didn’t just hand out shoes – they committed to continued mentorship and ministry to these children after the event. By building relationships and

providing Christ-centered guidance, we hope to keep these young lives on a path towards knowing Jesus’s endless love while protecting them from exploitation.

Through initiatives like “Sígueme,” ZOE Mexico continues advancing our core mission—protecting children through the transformative power of Christ’s love.

You will be like a wellwatered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” Isaiah 58:10–11

A Message of Hope from Thailand: Rising Above the Floods

Your generous support empowers the ZOE Thailand team to serve village communities in life-changing ways. By partnering with Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF), dedicated community leaders, and pastors, we’ve been able to reach those most in need through CHF’s Mercy Network “food paks” program. These meals not only provide vital sustenance but also enable families to afford sending their children to school, unlocking futures that once seemed unattainable.

In September, the province of Chiang Rai, directly north of where ZOE operates in Thailand, experienced devastating floods – the worst in 80 years, according to local news reports. Yet despite this significant challenge, food paks were provided,

relationships were formed, hearts were opened, and conversations about Jesus naturally unfolded. These moments led to transformational invitations for individuals to welcome God into their lives. Even amidst the devastation of the floods, God’s light continued to shine.

A partner from the Mercy Network shared this inspiring story: “Through the food paks, we have been able to lead eleven brothers and sisters to baptism in the Lord Jesus Christ. They were baptized in the floodwaters themselves! We want to give all glory and honor to God. We pray and bless all those who have made this foodpak ministry possible.”

The Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF) Mercy Network equips local churches to serve vulnerable communities by providing Food Paks—boxes of non-perishable food items— for direct delivery to families in need. This approach addresses immediate physical needs while fostering meaningful relationships and sharing spiritual hope. ZOE International and CHF have partnered since 2008 to bring relief and transformation to vulnerable communities through this Christ-centered mission.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Empowering Tomorrow’s

Leaders:

ZOE Thailand’s Impact Through Love, Faith, and Training

In the Spring, we celebrated two powerful milestones in Thailand—each a testament to God’s transforming love and your faithful support.

Our restoration graduation honored children who have persevered through unimaginable challenges to complete their school year while living at ZOE. Some graduated high school and are stepping into university or vocational training; others completed mandatory schooling and will begin their careers. The evening overflowed with joy, worship, and heartfelt gratitude.

We also celebrated the ZOE Leadership Training graduates—young adults who have spent two years deepening their faith and preparing to serve. As one said, “Following God is not easy… but no matter how many mountains we climb, God will lead us and help us overcome if we keep our faith.”

Because of you, these graduates now step forward with education, hope, and the certainty that they are deeply loved by God, and by their ZOE family.

One graduate shared, “If I didn’t come to ZOE, I don’t know where I would be or if I would know about the love of God. But I am so thankful for these amazing opportunities and to be able to graduate from school.” Another said, “Thank you to my ZOE parents for loving me like I am their true child. You have shown me God’s unconditional love for me.”

From Addiction to Redemption: A Testimony of Hope and Healing

At ZOE, prayer is central to our mission of sharing the gospel worldwide. In Thailand, we are committed to discipleship, helping believers grow in faith and influence their communities for Christ. Every month, through the ZOE Leadership Training (ZLT) program—an intensive two-year ministry training for local men and women— students travel 8-10 hours by bus monthly to evangelize in remote, pre-dominantly Buddhist villages, learning to plant seeds of faith in Jesus.

During a village gospel outreach, a student shared, “While conducting a house visit, I had an opportunity to encourage a believer in his home. He has children who are addicted to drugs. I shared my testimony about overcoming drug addiction and how I believe my parents’ prayers were crucial in transforming my life. I told him to persist in prayer and trust God. Before I could continue, he

burst into tears. I believe he gained new strength through the encouragement.”

The student continued, “In the same house, I also noticed the grandfather found it difficult to hear due to problems with his ears. I asked if my friends and I could pray for him. As we prayed, I felt the power of God flowing through me with my hands shaking. As soon as we said amen, without me saying another word, he exclaimed, ‘Very good! Now I can hear clearly.’ Praise the Lord for using an ordinary person like me.”

Isn’t God incredible? Stories like this are made possible because of your commitment to caring for others and the younger generations. Every prayer, every gift, and every outreach you help make possible is transforming lives and communities for eternity.

Short-Term Missions Trips to Thailand

They came to Thailand to bless others, but left forever changed. Short-term mission teams made up of partner churches, ZOE teams from around the world, and specialized groups like law enforcement officers or partnering nonprofits, come to Thailand ready to serve. They often leave saying they received more than they gave.

In 2024, teams joined our Thai staff in remote villages, presenting the gospel and teaching human trafficking prevention through skits, lessons, games, and small groups. In one outreach, over 500 children heard about Jesus and learned how to recognize traffickers’ tactics. Other teams taught English, encouraged ZOE’s children and students, and supported local churches.

Specialized teams brought unique skills, from sharing investigative strategies with Thai police to offering professional training that opened doors for future collaborations. Whether painting a child’s face at a festival, leading worship, or praying over villagers, teams witnessed joy that transcends hardship.

They returned home with deeper faith, greater boldness, and hearts forever marked by God’s presence in Thailand.

David Cross, ZOE Australia’s Director, shared about their recent trip to Thailand:

“I recently returned from ZOE Thailand, where I was able to spend some time with our team, and I was blown away by the life-changing work that we are all a part of. These children have faced unimaginable hardships, and when they first arrive, the trauma of their pasts are evident in their interactions with everyone—some of them responding with anger and hatred, while others are scared and withdrawn.

Yet, the healing and transformation that occurs over time is truly remarkable. Some of them end up studying or completing internships, while others have grown into adulthood and joined the workforce. Some have started families and gone on to support and help others in need.”

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

Because of You, Shiori’s Story of Freedom Is Reaching Thousands Online

Video testimonies have emerged as one of the most compelling forms of online evangelism. These personal stories of transformation cut through the noise of social media to deliver authentic, powerful messages of hope that resonate across cultural and geographical boundaries. That’s why ZOE Japan approaches evangelism through both divine inspiration and strategic execution.

For many years, Shiori* worked in the adult video industry, a world that left her feeling trapped, unseen, and far from hope. But everything changed the day she encountered Jesus and embraced a life of faith.

When the team set out in 2024 to create a video of her testimony, finding the right location was challenging. Then, by God’s providence, we discovered a beautiful Christian coffee shop in Tokyo—right in the heart of the city’s most notorious red-light district. For Shiori and the ZOE team, filming there was miraculous. A place that once represented harm and exploitation became

the backdrop for a story of redemption, courage, and God’s unending love.

Through her testimony, Shiori now brings hope to others and shows that no situation is too broken for God to redeem. Her story has already reached more than 12,000 people online and continues to proclaim that Jesus transforms, restores, and brings true healing.

“If someone going through a similar experience is watching this video, what would you like to tell them?” asked the interviewer.

Shiori replied, “If you think, you’ve done terrible things, you’re ashamed, you have no worth, please know that is not true at all. You are loved. Even if the people around you don’t understand, God loves you, no matter your mistakes or failures. That’s what He taught me. No matter where you are, you can always start over.”

From Streets of Exploitation to Places of Prayer: God at Work in Tokyo

ZOE Japan leads evening prayer walks through Tokyo’s red-light district, exposing participants to intense spiritual darkness that seems to intensify after sunset.

These walks reveal the stark reality of spiritual warfare, with responses ranging from shocked silence to weeping. “It’s like walking through a nightmare,” one participant noted, while another shared: “I learned to find Christ’s light in the darkest places, reminded of God’s love for all.” Despite the spiritual toll, especially for first-timers, the team finds resilience through collective prayer and witnesses their faith strengthened.

Places Marked by Prayer with the

Jōkan-ji Temple

Historically, criminals and prostitutes were not allowed to have their own graves. After the Great Ansei earthquake in 1855, a mass burial of 500 prostitutes was done in haste to prevent disease from spreading. As a result, the temple became known as ‘Nage-komi dera’ (throw-away temple).

Modern-Day Red-Light District

Although there are no longer high walls and gates to keep victims inside, the area is still dedicated to businesses such as soaplands, hostess bars, and other sex industry-related businesses.

Yoshiwara Benzaiten Shrine

Benzaiten is a Buddhist deity derived from the Hindu goddess Saraswati, who was worshipped as the goddess of music, eloquence, literature, and wealth.

Care Packages That Bring Hope and Dignity

ZOE Japan actively serves vulnerable children by regularly providing care packages and meals to runaway teenagers who gather in these trafficking hotspots to find love. Even one night off the streets can be life-changing.

A ZOE Japan staff member shared, “One day, we found two 9 year old runaway girls who hadn’t eaten in three days so we provided them care packages and meals.” shared staff member Yuri Osborne. “While we were on a busy street, as I was walking with them, one grabbed my finger and said, ‘Stay with me, please stay with me!’ I couldn’t help but tear up because I remembered that my daughter grabs my hand the same way she did. I realized that this girl more than anything just wanted a mommy to love and protect them.”

Empowering Children, Protecting Futures: How a Simple Card Game is

Transforming Child Safety in Mexico

ZOE Mexico is making a powerful impact in the fight against child sexual abuse with the Memorama of Zión el León & His Friends memory card game. Designed to equip children with essential self-care and prevention skills, this engaging resource empowers boys and girls with practical tools to learn how to protect themselves.

Thanks to your support, this game has become a cornerstone of training efforts—reaching children, parents, families, youth, and leaders through school programs, ministry events, and mission trips. Its influence continues to grow, serving as a key resource for educating people of all ages.

The game’s impact has gained widespread recognition, earning ZOE Mexico a feature on the front page of a prominent newspaper in Oaxaca. In the interview, they highlighted the game’s impact and their ongoing mission to protect at-risk children across Mexico. Together, we are not only equipping the little ones to protect themselves, but we are also setting up our future generation for success—one child at a time.

Developing Educational Tools For Youth in Australia

As adults, it’s our responsibility to keep children safe and protected from abuse. But we also know that we can help children protect themselves by teaching them to recognize, respond to, and report unsafe behavior and situations.

ZOE Australia has been making significant strides in developing a board game designed to help children do exactly that. Exciting progress is underway as our team has added new in-game characters and is finalizing resources to create a compelling educational tool to help children identify safe people and places while fostering protective behaviors and healthy boundaries.

Currently, the project is in the first phase of production funding, where our team works with professional illustrators to apply the finishing touches. This preventative tool is tailored for children identified as at-risk or vulnerable. The game empowers children to build awareness in a safe, supportive environment.

Support families in crisis and disaster relief while partnering with community leaders to create longterm transformation

Thailand Outreaches: Teaching Children To Recognize Trafficking Schemes

Ending human trafficking starts with education. Thailand’s Prevention Team provides educational trainings to schools and villages to protect and equip at-risk youth against the schemes of traffickers. We engage students by playing games and performing dramas that depict possible real-life scenarios and the danger signs to watch out for. Every time we teach a child, one more child has the information they need to keep themselves and their friends safe.

In 2024, our team spent a lot of time educating students at hundreds of schools bordering Myanmar and Thailand–providing critical information to children at high-risk due to the border crisis and criminal gangs luring them with false promises of lucrative jobs, only to trap them in compounds and force them into online fraud. Your generosity changes the trajectory of children’s lives at-risk and in crisis.

JAPAN

ZOE Japan’s Prevention Objectives:

Equip children, parents, and educators with tools to recognize grooming and trafficking

Reach runaways and at-risk youth in red-light districts and dropin centers with care, hope, and resources

Teach prevention in schools, churches, and communities nationwide

Produce social media content, videos, podcasts to spread awareness online

Partner with government, NGOs, and faith communities to influence policy and strengthen laws

Raising Awareness Through Manga: Protecting Young People from Sextortion

Sextortion cases are on the rise, ensnaring more young people in their deceptive traps. The best way to protect ourselves and others is through understanding the tactics these criminals use and learning how to stay safe online. At ZOE International, we believe the first step in ending human trafficking is providing education to our communities.

One powerful tool Japan uses to educate the youth is manga, a medium that resonates deeply with young people. That’s why we collaborated with Drawbridge Creations, a manga ministry organization, to create a joint project entailing a compelling story about a high school girl who falls victim to sextortion. This manga not only illustrates the dangers but also provides critical resources for those at risk. At ZOE, we witness the common occurrence of victims not realizing the exploitative relationship they’re in, and if they do recognize it, it is incredibly hard to tell someone and break free from it. This is why it is incredibly important to communicate with the youth in a way they would listen and understand the deeper implications of their decisions.

The manga includes:

• Information on where to seek help

• Self-check quizzes to assess personal risk

• Practical advice on staying safe

Thanks to the generous support from the New Hope Leeward Church in Hawaii, we can now offer hard copies for free! Our goal is to distribute this valuable resource to as many Japanese students as possible. If you’d like to help, you can order free copies today and share them with those who need them most. Please contact us at info@gozoe.jp with the name, address, and the number of copies required. Currently, the manga is available only in Japanese, but we are working on an English version, which we hope to release in the coming months. Stay tuned for updates! Together, let’s spread awareness and empower young people to protect themselves.

U.S.A. WEST COAST

Educating Youth on Human Trafficking

With Generation Z and Generation Alpha being such avid users of social media, providing human trafficking training to them is crucial for keeping them safe online. We believe training the youth will help eradicate human trafficking. That’s why ZOE frequently presents human trafficking trainings at schools and programs in Los Angeles County to help them become aware and more vigilant in navigating their internet use.

In December, Ester Yu, ZOE’s Western Regional Director, and Hillary Phillips, ZOE’s Media Specialist, provided two different Human Trafficking training presentations at two schools in Encino, California. One presentation for 150 middle schoolers at Holy Martyrs Cabayan Elementary and another for 200 high school students at Ferrahian High School right next door. Ester and Hillary educated the students about the dangers and signs of child trafficking. During the Q&A, one middle school boy asked:

“How can we, as children, help stop child trafficking?”

ZOE USA West Coast’s Prevention Objectives:

Educate schools, churches, communities and businesses through trainings to recognize and resist trafficking and learn online safety

Engage policymakers through testimonies, public forums, and legislative hearings to shape stronger prevention practices

Collaborate with law enforcement in initiatives like the Figueroa Corridor project to reduce trafficking in high-risk areas.

Supporting SB-1414 – Making Child Sex-Buying a Felony

In April 2024, ZOE’s Human Trafficking Prevention Program Manager and Lived Experience Expert, Sandy Esparza, stood on the steps of the California State Capitol beside Senator Shannon Grove. Sharing her personal testimony, Sandy gave voice to the thousands of children harmed by sex buyers. Her presence at the Public Safety Senate Committee hearing became a pivotal moment in support of SB-1414—a bill to make sexbuying of children under 16 a felony, not just a misdemeanor.

On September 26, 2024, SB-1414 was successfully signed into law. This victory means harsher penalties for offenders and required registration as sex offenders in cases with significant age gaps. ZOE’s advocacy was instrumental in this win for child protection in California.

Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) Human Trafficking Prevention Summit

In September, ZOE partnered with the SCV Human Trafficking Task Force to host the Human Trafficking Prevention Summit at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California. Nearly 500 community members attended to learn the truth about child trafficking, hear survivor-informed testimony, and receive practical tools to protect children.

ZOE’s Prevention Program Manager and Lived Experience Expert, Sandy Esparza, and retired Los Angeles Sheriff’s detective, Ray Bercini, debunked myths about traffickers and victims. The event equipped attendees with a clearer understanding of how traffickers operate and what individuals can do to respond. This summit demonstrated the power of collaboration: when a community is informed, it is better equipped to protect its children.

The Figueroa Corridor Initiative: A New Approach to Combat Trafficking

In September, at a press conference in Los Angeles County, federal and local law enforcement and government agencies announced a collaborative effort called the Figueroa Corridor Human Trafficking Initiative to target human traffickers, especially those who exploit children on the Los Angeles street, Figueroa. The Figueroa Corridor is a 3.5-mile stretch of Figueroa Street, extending from Gage Avenue to Imperial Highway, long known as a region for prostitution.

“The Figueroa Corridor area is ground zero for human trafficking, and victims are abused and exploited there every day,” said

United States Attorney Martin Estrada. “With this initiative, we are combining federal and local resources to focus on prosecuting more cases federally, particularly those involving victims who are children, and coordinating with our local partners to hold perpetrators accountable. We must take an all-hands approach to stop the human trafficking happening right in our backyard.”

As part of the Los Angeles Regional Human Trafficking Task Force, ZOE has supported many of the children exploited by these traffickers and remains committed to protecting children.

She was bridging a critical gap between policy and practice, between understanding trafficking on paper and recognizing it in real life.

As a survivor leader, she brought firsthand knowledge that transformed how officers understand the complex psychology of trafficking victims.

“Sandy’s real-life experience as a victim motivates Law Enforcement to take a more proactive approach to the crime,” shared Lt. Nelson Ortiz, Supervisor of the Berks County Human Trafficking Task Force. Her testimony revealed the coercion, force, and psychological manipulation that leave victims feeling “hopeless and worthless” with “no way out.”

Just three days after Sandy’s training, the impact became tangible. Amanda Tlumach, ZOE East Coast’s Administrative and Donor Relations Assistant, found herself face-toface with a woman engaged in commercial sex work. But this time, the encounter was different.

“With the new insight gained from Sandy’s shared experience, we were able to acknowledge the seemingly insurmountable challenge facing this vulnerable woman,” Amanda explained. The training had prepared the team to understand why leaving “the life” isn’t simply a matter of choice.

The woman couldn’t fathom returning to minimum wage work when she could earn money quickly on her own terms in the sex trade. Despite the exploitation, the path to a different future seemed overwhelming.

Sandy’s training shifted the focus from immediate law enforcement outcomes to long-term relationship building.

“Achieving such transformative change demands unwavering dedication and comes with significant costs,” Amanda reflected. “Therefore, having access to a supportive network and vital resources becomes paramount.”

Sandy’s training strengthened connections between law enforcement, advocates, and support services. The result? When that woman needed help three days later, the team was ready—not just with resources, but with understanding.

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Proverbs 31:8-9

ZOE 2024 GLOBAL FUNDRAISING EVENTS

ZOE THAILAND - RESCUE RUN

The inaugural ZOE Rescue Run in Thailand began as a small community run to raise awareness about human trafficking, but quickly grew into a major event when the Governor of Chiang Mai Province confirmed his attendance.

Through dedicated planning and community support, the event had over 500 participants, including representatives from partner NGOs, the Royal Thai Police, government dignitaries, and local community members. Led by ZOE Protection Center director Witaya Soontorndanprai and ZOE Children’s Home director, Oratai Saisingtong, the run brought together diverse stakeholders in the fight against human trafficking.

USA WEST COAST ROAD OF JUSTICE

In April, a dedicated team of cyclists embarked on an inspiring journey in Southern California for ZOE International’s Road of Justice event. Riding from Imperial Beach to Santa Barbara, they endured the trek to raise awareness and funds to combat human trafficking.

Thanks to your support the Road of Justice event raised over $75,000 for ZOE International’s ZOE Home for Youth (ZHY). Funds directly support restorative services for trafficking survivors, providing essential care, counseling, and resources to help young lives rebuild and thrive.

This time around, a new group of riders from Lifepoint Church in Buena Park, California, joined for day 3. Pastor Ed and his team brought new energy to the group which was needed as they began the longest ride of the trip (71 miles!). The team began the day with a devotion and prayer in Huntington Beach. The group enjoyed another beach picnic in Huntington before climbing the hills on the way to Malibu.

The Road of Justice event continues to inspire supporters and cyclists alike, proving that together, we can take meaningful action to combat human trafficking.

AUSTRAILA

JUSTICE WALKS. CHANGED LIVES.

What happens when hundreds of people of all ages come together with one purpose—to fight for the freedom of children? Joy. Unity. And real impact.

This year, Australians walked not once, but twice—first in Sydney, New South Wales in May, and later in Melbourne in November. Each event was unique, yet both carried the same heartbeat: a community choosing to stand for the freedom of children.

In May, families, students, and friends of all ages—led by the passionate team at REVIVE Church—gathered in Sydney to raise their voices against child trafficking. More than 100 fundraisers championed the cause, with 447 donations coming in to raise about $39,500 for ZOE Australia’s work. Every step taken that day symbolized hope and determination, reminding us that together we can push back against darkness. One participant reflected, “I’ve never felt so connected to both my community and the cause. Every step reminded me that together we can push back against darkness.”

In November, the Justice Walk made its debut in Melbourne. A small but committed team worked tirelessly to bring the vision to life, and volunteers from across the city joined in—marshals, checkpoint crews, BBQ hosts, and even Cups n Cones with gelato. The outpouring of generosity was incredible:

$82,153.30 raised, and thanks to a generous dollar-for-dollar matching gift, the total impact reached $164,306.60. Just like in Sydney, the walk wasn’t only about funds raised—it was about people uniting across generations to say, “Not on our watch.”

As ZOE Australia’s CEO David Cross reminded us during the Justice Weekend, “There are 41,000 people trapped in modern slavery in Australia, and globally, one in four victims is a child.” Those sobering numbers remind us why we walk. They remind us why your support is so important. Every prayer, every dollar, every step is helping rescue children, bring them to safety, and restore their lives.

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for both communities. Together, Sydney and Melbourne have shown that every Justice Walk—big or small, first-time or long-standing—makes a lasting impact. And together, Australians are proving that we don’t just raise awareness—we change stories.

ZOE’s Onsite Advocacy with Local Law Enforcement: A Recent Massage Parlor Sting Operation

ZOE International works closely with law enforcement to identify victims of human trafficking and connect them to support services. This collaboration occurred during a sting operation at a massage parlor in Los Angeles County.

“Our goal is twofold: first, to connect victims to ongoing care and resources; second, to build long-term trust with law enforcement.” This trust enables ZOE Advocates to work directly alongside officers during operations, offering realtime guidance and support.

During the sting, ZOE Advocates, including Chinese/Mandarin and Spanish speakers, played a crucial role. The operation focused on rescuing youth at massage parlors. One young woman, clearly fearful and distressed, was identified as a victim. Her passport was confiscated by her exploiter, she was monitored via cameras, and she had been dropped off at the location with no way of leaving.

ZOE and law enforcement took time to understand her story, examining signs

of coercion that could classify her as a victim —not a willing participant. Our partnership created a safe environment, offering care and allowing the victim to open up and share critical details.

ZOE provided her with resources and a bracelet with our hotline number, which she used the next morning to reach out for help. Since then, ZOE has been working to ensure she receives ongoing care and resources, because survivors deserve long-term support.

“This operation highlighted the genuine collaboration between ZOE and law enforcement,” said David. “Our shared focus isn’t just on arrests of perpetrators, but on truly caring for victims and offering lasting support.”

This trust is key to ZOE’s mission of rescuing and restoring lives. As David added, “Trust with law enforcement doesn’t develop overnight; it grows as we consistently show up, prioritize the victims’ needs, and work as reliable partners.”

Bringing Hope and Resources to Trafficking Survivors during Operation

Reclaim and Rebuild

Alexis, a ZOE advocate, recently joined her first Reclaim and Rebuild operation—a week-long operation where ZOE partners with the Los Angeles Regional Human Trafficking Task Force to reach women trapped in commercial exploitation.

While she typically works with trafficked minors, this night brought her face-toface with adult women selling their bodies simply to survive. Young mothers with no other choice. Women who politely declined help because they couldn’t see beyond their desperate circumstances.

“It was so heartbreaking to see the desperation,” Alexis shared. “There’s just this big need out there.”

But ZOE’s approach offered something different—immediate safety, not just promises. Alexis could look these women in the eyes and ask directly:

“Are you safe? Do you need help right now? We can get you to a hotel tonight if you’re in danger.”

Most said no that night. But one woman listened. Alexis gave her a card, planted a seed of trust. Sometimes that’s how freedom begins—with one person willing to believe rescue is possible.

“I loved supporting and having the opportunity to work in this field,” Alexis reflected. “Being able to share their stories and be a part of their life journey has just been a huge blessing.”

Her compassion pierces through exploitation’s darkness, carrying rays of Christ’s love to those who desperately need to know they’re worth saving. Thank you for reaching into the darkness to rescue lives for God’s kingdom.

Beyond Borders: From Invisible Victims to Invaluable Lives

Liu* thought she was stepping into a new life. The promise was simple: a dishwasher job in America, steady pay, a fresh start. Instead, she found herself trapped in a nightmare in a foreign country and steal years of her life.

Her documents vanished the moment she arrived. Freedom became a memory. Forced into drug use and debt bondage, Liu was trafficked from Asia through Europe and Mexico before landing in Los Angeles—a city of dreams that became her prison.

Alone. Afraid. Exploited. Liu had lost hope of ever being free again.

The Moment Everything Changed

During a law enforcement sting operation, ZOE’s team recognized what others had missed—Liu wasn’t a criminal. She was a victim.

“Our hearts were broken when we first met Liu,” shared Sandy Esparza, ZOE’s Human Trafficking Prevention Program Manager. “We knew we needed to help her get out of this situation.”

What followed wasn’t just rescue—it was restoration.

Emergency housing. Mandarin-speaking advocates who could truly hear her story. Legal services. Transportation. Basic necessities that had become luxuries. Most importantly, Liu found something she thought was lost forever: hope.

“I didn’t think you would continue helping me,” Liu later shared. “I thought I was on my own.”

But she wasn’t. She never was.

Freedom

Looks Like This

Today, Liu holds her driver’s license in her hands—a symbol of mobility she once thought impossible. She has a temporary work visa, documentation in a system that once rendered her invisible. She works as a nanny, caring for children instead of being exploited herself.

Liu’s transformation reminds us why ZOE exists: because every person deserves the chance to reclaim their freedom.

Understanding The Nuances of What It Means to “Rescue” in the United States

Growing up in the ’90s, Disney’s animated movie Beauty and the Beast captivated many of us. At first glance, it seems to offer a heartwarming tale of love and redemption. But looking at it through a trauma-informed lens, the story takes on a much different and darker tone. The Beast isolates Belle in his castle, holding her against her will. He alternates between moments of tenderness and anger, a dynamic that mirrors the manipulation common in abusive relationships.

This cycle—kindness followed by coercion—is a hallmark of trauma bonding. This emotional tug-of-war is common for victims of exploitation. This complexity surfaced during a recent case.

A young woman was caught in the push and pull of questioning whether her exploiter truly loved her. Sadly, her “boyfriend’s” version of love was not love at all. It was manipulation. His actions never prioritized her happiness or wellbeing. Instead, they revolved around exploitation, and self-interest.

Trauma bonds, formed through cycles of abuse, emotional highs and lows, and strategic manipulation, make it incredibly difficult to break free. And in this recent case, the young woman ultimately returned to her exploiter—yes, after providing care.

Statistics show that victims often attempt to leave the exploiter 7 to 10 times before they are able to separate permanently. Because of this, our response must be just as persistent—but grounded in true love, safety, and support. Providing traumainformed care, counseling, housing, and legal advocacy are critical steps in helping survivors break the bond and rebuild their lives. Healing doesn’t happen overnight, but with the right support, it is possible.

Did you know? Many victims hesitate to disclose their exploitation to the police because they fear for their safety or doubt that sufficient resources will be available to help them.

Breaking Chains, Restoring Lives, and Dreams Realized

In Thailand, ZOE stands on the front lines, working law enforcement and government teams to pull children from the grip of exploitation.

“Traffickers continue to come up with more schemes to lure victims,” explains Wit Soontorndanprai, Director of ZOE Protection Center. “Technology has given them limitless communication through social media, and many suspects are highly connecte, operating in organized crime networks.”

Despite these evolving challenges, ZOE Thailand achieved remarkable results in 2024, helping rescue, shelter, and protect 121 children alongside police partners. Our approach extends beyond the moment of rescue—we support prosecution efforts through forensic interviews, state prosecution assistance, and protecting children who courageously testify in court. In one breakthrough case this year, a perpetrator received a sentence of 700 years in prison.

But rescue is only the beginning. “When children come to ZOE, they receive unconditional love, care, and restoration,” Wit continues. In our safe havens, traumatized children discover they are valued, protected, and loved—many finding profound spiritual healing as their hearts open to hope.

One rescued girl’s story illuminates the miraculous nature of this work. Taken from her family, severely abused with scars covering her body, confined at home, and denied education, she seemed lost to the world. Yet in her darkest moment, she cried out to God, asking if He was there to save her. She dreamed of entering a specific building. When police rescued her and brought her to ZOE, she realized it was the very building from her dream. Today, her heart is healing and being restored.

This is the power of rescue—transforming the impossible into abundant life, one child at a time.

From “Bad Luck” to Beacon of Hope: Yui’s Transformative Journey

At seven years old, Yui carried more than any child should bear. Orphaned and ostracized, labeled “bad luck” by her village, she faced a future that could have led to trafficking and exploitation. Her grandparents could no longer provide the protection she desperately needed.

But God had different plans. The moment Yui stepped through the doors of ZOE’s home in Thailand, everything changed. For the first time, she was not defined by what she had lost, but celebrated for who she was created to be.

Surrounded by love, Yui flourished. ZOE staff became her parents, mentors, and champions, showing her how to live with purpose and faith. Through ZOE’s holistic care model, she received not just physical protection and education, but spiritual nurturing that transformed her heart and worldview.

Today, Yui stands as a testament to God’s redemptive power and ZOE’s mission. Armed with an Art degree and overflowing with gratitude, she has returned to ZOE Thailand as a staff member, teaching art to the very children who once walked in her footsteps. Additionally, her talents have opened doors to illustrate books for an American company,

demonstrating how God multiplies our investments in rescued lives.

“ZOE is a place anointed by God to help and rescue children,” Yui reflects. “There is so much love poured out here. This is the place of hope for the children.” Her prayer after high school—asking God to use her gifts for His glory and ZOE’s mission—has been answered beyond imagination.

The village that once called her “bad luck” now witnesses God’s extraordinary work through her life. Yui’s transformation serves as a powerful reminder that with the right intervention at the right time, every child can become a beacon of hope for others.

Yui’s story embodies ZOE International’s core belief: that every child deserves love and the opportunity to discover their God-given purpose. Through comprehensive care that addresses holistic needs, ZOE continues to write stories of redemption—one rescued life at a time.

Yui has graciously permitted us to share her story to honor what God has done in her life and to inspire continued support for vulnerable children worldwide.

“Why

Love That Transforms: Restoration Stories

Would Someone Be

Kind to Me After Everything I’ve Done?”

This heartbreaking question came from a young girl at ZOE Home for Youth—a girl who had arrived angry, scared, and resorting to violence because trusting anyone felt impossible after surviving human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.

Lawrence Franklin, ZOE’s Western USA Clinical Director, had simply “held space for her and let her know we are here for her. That seemed to break something open.

The transformation that followed reveals everything about what makes ZOE different: “In other group homes, it’s always kids versus adults. Here, it feels different. Why would someone be kind to me after everything I’ve done?”

What this brave girl experienced is what Lawrence calls “AP love”—advanced, patient, and consistent love. This kind of love takes work and doesn’t give up on

someone, even when they push away. It’s love that transforms brokenness into healing.

As 1 Corinthians 13:7 says, “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

At ZOE Home for Youth, this love is the foundation for every step of recovery. Every day, your support helps us provide a home where these brave girls can begin to trust again, dream again, and heal.

The focus of our program is simple but profound: help each child feel safe physically and emotionally so she can begin her journey of healing from unimaginable trauma and pain. Together, we are standing with them on their journey toward a brighter tomorrow—one act of “AP love” at a time.

A Young Woman’s Journey from the Streets to Second Chances

Another remarkable restoration story centers on a young woman who had been desperately fleeing from the county for nearly a year—lost in the grip of addiction, living on the streets, and tormented by active hallucinations.

She had stopped going to school entirely and was completely cut off from her family, with seemingly no hope in sight.

When she first arrived in our care, withdrawn and distrusting, our compassionate staff saw her potential and refused to give up on her. Through their unwavering dedication, she began to rebuild her life step by step:

• Courageously returned to school after months away

• Threw herself into mechanics and cosmetology internships through our partner organizations

• Built confidence and skills, enhancing her resume

• Walked into a job interview with In-NOut Burger

• Made the brave decision to embrace sobriety

• Obtained a restraining order against her abuser

• Slowly rebuilt the fractured bonds with her family

The transformation has been nothing short of miraculous. Her family—the same people who had once turned their backs on her in despair—now long to have her back in their lives again. They’re even opening their hearts and home, considering welcoming her back where she belongs.

From a broken, homeless teenager with broken dreams to a young woman with hope, purpose, and a loving family waiting for her—it’s a complete miracle, made possible through your generous support.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18

From Abandonment To Faith: Becky’s

Journey To Trust In Jesus

Kaylah, an East Coast ZOE advocate, has been walking alongside Becky*, a young woman navigating the scars of a painful past. Becky’s life has been marked by abuse and abandonment, leaving her without the stability of a loving home. Through her mentorship, Kaylah has been a constant source of support, care, and trust in a world that had often failed Becky.

Over time, the bond between them grew stronger. Becky shared how much she appreciated Kaylah’s unwavering support. Together, they worked through Becky’s fears, dreams, and faith. When asked who her role model was, Becky surprised Kaylah by writing down “God.” But the pivotal moment came when Becky admitted she was afraid of dying, even though she believed in God.

Kaylah learned that Becky had never understood the depth of God’s grace. Kaylah explained that having a relationship with Jesus means not only living with purpose on earth but also having the promise of eternal life in Heaven. Becky was stunned. She asked, “Even if you sin, you can still go to Heaven?”

Kaylah reassured her and shared the gospel. With Becky’s eager consent, Kaylah walked her through what it means to fully surrender her life to Jesus. They prayed together, and Becky invited Jesus into her heart. Afterward, she smiled and said, “I feel different!”

Kaylah gave Becky Bible chapters to read, promising to bring printed scriptures for her to reflect on. Becky’s excitement about her growing relationship with God was undeniable. For the first time, she experienced a sense of stability—not just through Kaylah’s mentorship, but through the unwavering love and grace of Jesus Christ.

The Healing Power of Equine Therapy

Equine therapy offers unique therapeutic benefits for trauma recovery, as horses create safe, non-judgmental spaces where young people can rebuild trust and emotional regulation skills. These gentle interactions help break down trauma barriers, fostering authentic relationships and personal growth.

On a sunny March afternoon, our East Coast advocates had the privilege of accompanying young female residents from the Lancaster Youth Intervention Center to Little Springs Farm in Mohnton, PA. Amidst the tranquil surroundings, these teens relished the opportunity for fresh air and a change of scenery while engaging in hands-on experiences with the horses. As they interacted with the animals, memories of joyful moments from their childhoods, centered around horses and outdoor adventures, resurfaced in their conversations.

These unique opportunities to engage at-risk youth outside the walls of their residence play a crucial role in dismantling the hidden barriers of trauma and pain concealed behind their defenses. Such moments of joy and connection hold profound significance, offering

“This week was my last mentorship meeting with one of the youth that I have had the privilege of serving. As we ate dinner together, we got to reflect on all that the mentee has grown in since we started meeting together.

It was beautiful to be able to encourage her in all the ways she has grown. I have seen a difference in the way she thinks of herself, the way she looks at life more positively, and a positive change in her relationship with her mom.

She thanked me and credited a lot of other changes in her life to the time we spent together. Although she is moving away, she still wants to meet virtually. We finished the meeting by praying together. It was wonderful to be able to bless her and speak life over her.

This is just a glimpse into the beauty in what we get to do! God is so good for entrusting us to love his children.”

“Sing to God, sing in praise of his name, extol him who rides on the clouds ; rejoice before him—his name is the LORD. A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.”

Psalms 68:4-5

Thailand

A Simple Moment That Sparked A Lifetime of Healing

“Sometimes, we get the privilege of helping a child reclaim their childhood,” shared Jessica Dodd, ZOE Southeast Asia Missionary.

A few years ago, the ZOE team rescued three boys from a brothel. All three were put in the same room, but something was off.

“We couldn’t figure it out at first, but we could tell that the younger two boys didn’t act like they were safe,” shared Jessica. “We soon found out that the older boy had been used by the traffickers as an enforcer. If he beat the younger boys into submission, he would get more food and fewer clients.”

The three boys were separated, and the older two blossomed – but the younger boy was still standoffish.

“He would wander around our campus barely speaking or looking anyone in the eye,” continued Jessica. “But one day, he hovered around my office window – which was filled with activities and toys – and he began to watch me daily as I did my work.”

Little by little, the young boy got more curious and drew closer. Then, a simple blunder changed everything.

“One day, I was blowing up balloons and convinced him to help me tie them,” shared Jessica. “I blew up a balloon, and

my fingers got caught while I was trying to tie it. When I got my fingers out, the balloon went flying as it released its air. I began laughing so hard, but he was frightened. I blew up another balloon and let it go. Then, something shifted. He laughed. So, I did it again and again. And he kept laughing. We spent most of the day blowing up balloons and laughing as we let them fly. It was the first time our staff had seen him smile.”

That day marked the beginning of his redeemed childhood. Twelve years later, he is now happily married with two young girls.

“This year, he brought his family to our ZOE Christmas reunion,” shared Jessica.

“We always get the children gifts, so I got them balloons. They didn’t seem to notice as they paid attention to the bigger gifts. But this young man, now a father, saw the balloons and picked them up. He slowly looked up, catching my eye and smiled. He started blowing up the balloons and releasing them as his daughters laughed. It was such a beautiful full-circle moment.”

Through compassion and dedicated care, we help each child reclaim the innocence of childhood and experience moments of joy and safety—building core memories with God’s love.

Supporting Children at Risk: A Testament to the Power of Family and Security

Not all children in our care have experienced trafficking directly. Many come to us having been identified as at high risk or live in dangerous situations that require intervention. These cases often involve orphaned children whose relatives are unable to provide adequate care.

While it has been several years since we welcomed very young children into our program, a recent experience offers powerful evidence of what a loving family can accomplish in just a few months.

During the first week after one toddler arrived at our home, ZOE had the opportunity to observe this child at our partner church’s Sunday School program.

“The child sat in our ZOE parent’s lap, turned in, clinging to her and all I heard for the entirety of the class was this child’s soft whimpering. It broke my heart. It was soft and persistent and I knew that it was birthed from fear

and all the new sights, sounds and experiences.

All I could do was pray.” said the ZOE Thailand staff member.

“The child wasn’t crying—no tears fell— but that whimper spoke of fear and uncertainty about this completely new world.”

The ZOE staff member continued, “The transformation I witnessed months later was remarkable. This same child was smiling, laughing, and playing.” The change was beautiful to see and reminded me of what we consistently observe: children who know they are loved and secure to develop this kind of strength.

We remain deeply grateful for our dedicated ZOE families who provide this foundation of love, and for our supporters who make this transformative work possible. Together, we continue nurturing these precious children toward the fullness of life they deserve.

Healing Through Childlike Faith: A

Young Girl Believed Jesus Would Heal Her HIV and He Did

Every once in a while, we witness something so extraordinary that we can only call it a miracle. That’s exactly what happened with Mali.*

In Thailand, your generosity helped rescue Mali, a young girl who arrived at ZOE carrying a heavy burden: a plastic bag filled with HIV medications she‘d been taking for years. A painful reminder of the past and a disease that threatened to steal her future. But you didn’t just provide her shelter.

Through your faithful partnership, you gave her something infinitely more precious Because of your generosity, Mali learned about Jesus, felt His love heal her heart, and grew in her faith.

Each week at ZOE Thailand, children gather to pray. Month after month, this little girl prayed boldly for others

and for the Lord to heal her of HIV. Mali would read Bible stories about Jesus healing people of all kinds of diseases and illnesses. With simple faith, she thought, “If Jesus healed them, He can heal me to. He‘s the same God today.”

As Mali persevered in prayer, something beautiful began to happen. She needed less and less medicine. That heavy bag of pills got lighter and lighter. Now, tests show she doesn’t have HIV anymore. Now, she doesn’t need any medicine at all. Mali is completely healed!

Mali is now a healthy young woman who worships, dances, and prays with joy for other kids with the same faith that brought her healing. She has become one of ZOE Thailand’s powerful prayer warriors.

Restoration Camps: Building Champions of Faith

Every school break, our Youth Team works tirelessly to create transformative camps where our children can deepen their relationship with God, explore new experiences, and grow stronger in their faith.

Kids’ Camp: “Jesus Loves Me Just As I Am”

Our kids’ camp embraced the beautiful reality that Jesus loves messy people. The children dove deep into understanding how Jesus deals with our sins, mistakes, and weaknesses, guided by 1 Timothy 4:8: “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”

Throughout the week, the children wrestled with profound questions: Why is the world such a messy place? How does Jesus respond to our messiest moments? How should we respond to our own messes? What does Jesus do about our problems? And how do we handle other people’s messes?

Each day brought fresh lessons reinforced through wonderfully messy games that brought laughter while driving home each day’s message.

One young girl shared, “God was teaching me about His love and how to love and be kind to others,”—something she had previously struggled with.

Another child told our staff she never wanted camp to end, saying the experience helped her “feel God’s love, as if someone is hugging her all the time.” She felt warm and was grateful to God for allowing her to be part of something so special.

Teen Camp: “Gaining Spiritual Strength (GSS)”

Our teen camp took a different but equally powerful approach, focusing on spiritual fitness. Just as physical strength requires time, commitment, and determination, becoming spiritually strong demands the same dedication.

Anchored by 1 Timothy 4:8, the teens explored what it means to train for godliness through four themes:

1. NO PAIN, NO GAIN taught them about Paul’s instruction to set an example for other believers, understanding that God calls them to lead by example even when it’s difficult.

2. FEEL THE BURN challenged them with sincere love and clinging to what is good—including the call to love even their enemies.

3. PUSH YOUR LIMITS inspired them to become “all things to all people” so others might know Jesus, encouraging them to look beyond the limitations they place on themselves and God.

4. SEE RESULTS showed them that those who live by the Spirit will bear the Fruit of the Spirit in their lives.

These restoration camps continue to be a cornerstone in our ministry, planting seeds of faith that will grow throughout our children’s lives.

Through adventure, teaching, and community, we’re watching God transform build spiritual strength.

Opportunity: 5.06 billion social media users spending 4+ hours daily online

Every day, millions in Thailand and Japan scroll through social media—but less than 1% know Jesus, and countless youth face trafficking risks. The G.O.D. Project fights on both fronts.

ZOE’s Global Online Directive Project (G.O.D.) is an initiative focused specifically in Thailand and Japan that harnesses the power of the internet and social media to fulfill our two-fold mission: Reach Every Person and Rescue Every Child.

The G.O.D. Project Mission: Gospel

We’re not just posting content—we’re creating digital discipleship journeys. When someone in Bangkok or Tokyo searches for meaning, they find video testimonies, interactive salvation experiences, and real believers ready to chat. Through The G.O.D. Project, ZOE is building a library of culturally sensitive and high-quality testimonies, evangelism, and discipleship resources to address the main Godquestions that people have.

The G.O.D. Project Mission: Human Trafficking Prevention

Our social campaigns don’t just educate—they save lives. In Japan, victims saw our content and reached out to hotlines. We are building an online resource center on ZOE websites with free downloadable educational content and curricula for different sectors of society on how to prevent, identify, and take action to bring freedom to children.

In 2024, our ZOE Thailand Media Team & ZOE Japan Media Team worked tirelessly to

ZOE Thailand’s Online Impact

Gospel Prevention

was the true love that was missing in my life. That’s what I realized. I really felt Jesus,

who loves me unconditionally, wrapping His arms around me.”

ZOE Launches Global Prayer Initiative

Did you know?

In 2024, ZOE launched the first 24/7 Global Prayer website with prayer requests and a map with all the locations where they’re needed.

ZOE Thailand Mercy Center

ZOE International and Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF) have partnered together since 2008 to bring relief and transformation to vulnerable communities through this Christ-centered mission. The Children’s Hunger Fund Mercy Network equips local churches to serve vulnerable communities by providing Food

Paks, boxes of non-perishable food items, for direct delivery to families in need. Then, ZOE missionaries reach out to remote villages in Thailand by providing the Food Pak and sharing the gospel. This approach addresses both immediate physical needs and spiritual needs.

ENGAGING THE NEXT GENERATION

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.” — Proverbs 31:8

My Gen, My Fight

My Gen, My Fight is a student-led high school club that raises awareness about human trafficking and fundraises to support ZOE’s mission. These young leaders show that when compassion is paired with action, students are not just learning about the problem—they are actively becoming part of the solution.

ZOE provides resources, trainings, and consultation for those who want to actively get involved in helping ZOE to end child trafficking.

With junior high and high school students navigating new freedoms, peer pressure, and online spaces where traffickers often operate, it’s important to teach them prevention towards traffickers and empathy for those whose lives look different from their own.

Kids Helping Kids

ZOE’s Kids Helping Kids program empowers ministries to instill a spirit of generosity and global awareness in their youngest members, teaching them that no matter how small they are, they can make a BIG difference.

This interactive project equips children with the tools and understanding needed to make a significant impact in the lives of children worldwide. Through Awana clubs, Vacation Bible Schools, scouting groups, and children’s ministry programs, Kids Helping Kids is seamlessly integrated into existing activities.

“Each child is provided with a plastic tube to collect quarters, with each filled tube totaling $15—enough to

When students are challenged to step into another person’s shoes—to consider the fear, coercion, and trauma victims endure—they begin to see beyond stereotypes and judgments.

Instead of dismissing or ridiculing someone in crisis, they learn to ask, “How can I help?” or “What might this person be going through?” One group of teens who attended our training admitted they had once viewed exploited children as “making bad choices.” After hearing real stories, they began to recognize that exploitation is not a choice but something forced upon victims.

Together, we’re empowering a generation who will notice when something is wrong and have the courage to act.

feed, clothe, and educate a child in Thailand for a full week,” shared Karen Miyamoto, ZOE Donor Relations Manager. “Since its launch, churches, youth groups, and community organizations have collected thousands of these tubes, showcasing the creativity of kids when it comes to raising funds. These contributions have significantly empowered ZOE to continue its mission of reaching every person and rescuing every child.”

By participating in the Kids Helping Kids project, children gain a deeper understanding of the global impact of their contributions.

Ventura Missionary School’s Fiesta Day: Where

Culture Meets Compassion

When Jessica Pererra’s 8th-grade Spanish students discovered ZOE Mexico through videos on the organization’s website, they were “deeply moved by the impact that ZOE Mexico is having on children’s lives and futures.” Their annual Fiesta Day fundraiser—where each group chooses a Hispanic country and sells food, drinks, and carnival-style games—suddenly had a profound new purpose.

“They connected with the stories of children just like them that have been rescued from injustice, given a new

life of freedom, and shown the love of Jesus,” explains Pererra. The students voted unanimously to support ZOE Mexico, transforming their cultural celebration into a mission of hope.

The results were remarkable: $5,370.70 raised and hearts forever changed. “This fundraiser opened our students’ eyes to the injustice in the world and the hope that Jesus brings through organizations like ZOE,” says Pererra. “It is always their favorite part of the year!” Pererra reflects—a perfect blend of cultural pride and compassionate action.

ZOE Australia’s Influence on the Next Generation

ZOE Australia combats human trafficking through powerful education and awareness programs. We equip individuals and communities to recognize vulnerability factors, understand how traffickers operate, and learn practical protection strategies—all while exploring God’s heart for those affected by exploitation.

Recently, our team delivered critical human trafficking awareness training to 586 secondary students and over 40 teachers across various Australian institutions, creating ripple effects of protection and hope in communities nationwide.

A school in Tasmania shared, “Thank you so much for coming. I thought your presentation was great and I’ve heard excellent feedback from staff and students already. It was an engaging presentation and although the content was confronting, it was fantastic to have the mix of statistical information, personal anecdotes, and hands-on activities for the students to be involved in. I was quite moved, personally.”

In September, ZOE global staff and stakeholders gathered online to do what God commands of His children – to remember His good works and praise Him as the team looked back over the last year celebrating what He has done through the commitment of generous partners

like you. During this annual Global Vision Meeting, representatives from five different ZOE locations across the globe recalled the efforts and stories of people reached with the gospel and children rescued all for the glory of God.

“Hearing personal stories is always powerful,” shared a ZOE donor, after attending the Vision Meeting. “I appreciate learning about what work is being done in each country and seeing the people who are the boots on the ground. Thank you.”

ZOE’s Holiday Open House

On Thursday, November 21, 2024, ZOE hosted a Holiday Open House at its Newhall office, bringing together over 75 donors and supporters to celebrate the incredible impact of their work. Attendees heard directly from ZOE leaders about their transformative efforts in human trafficking prevention, rescue operations, and global outreach, including powerful miracle stories from ZOE Home for Youth and a heartfelt personal testimony from a young survivor.

Josh Rivas, ZOE Partner from Santa Clarita Valley Soroptimist, shared his experience of this encouraging evening:

I had the privilege of attending ZOE International’s Holiday Open House and was deeply moved by the story of a young woman rescued from trafficking. At 16, she was just like any teen—longing for connection—when an online “friend” led her into a trap. Today, at 21, she’s sober, thriving in college, and a proud new mom. Her message to parents: “Make your teens feel heard. Make them feel safe telling you anything.” Let’s listen, love, and advocate for change.

We reached out to you– our supporters– and asked for your feedback! Thank you for your kind words and faithful prayers. We cannot do this important work without you!

“Amazing and incredible work ZOE is doing for the most vulnerable population.”

“God’s hand and favor are definitely on this great organization. Happy to be part of it, and I hope to do more to help.”

“ZOE’s approach is both touching and practical.”

“Each country is unique, yet the mission of sharing the gospel through relationships and God’s mercy is the same! I didn’t know ZOE had a presence in Australia!”

“What I find the most compelling are details in how ZOE aids children in need and how they infiltrate organized crime.”

“It’s so cool to see the depth to which ZOE partners with local authorities and governments to rescue children.”

“Amazing to see God’s work since ZOE’s humble beginnings in Chiang Mai, Thailand.”

“What makes ZOE stand out is their love for the Lord, commitment, compassion, and knowledge of the leaders and volunteers. What a blessing they are to the young girls and boys. Touched my heart personally, and want to do more for ZOE.”

“I really appreciate the idea that all the countries collaborate and share information and expertise. It is a brilliant strategy that I believe will accelerate ZOE’s growth and reach.”

Kim Fisher’s journey with ZOE began two decades ago when a friend returned from Thailand with stories that changed her perspective forever. What started as a church fundraising effort has grown into a passionate, long-term commitment to fighting human trafficking. “The more I have learned about human trafficking, the more I realize how awful it is,” Kim shares.

As an educator working with 5th graders, she sees her role as planting seeds of generosity and global awareness

in young hearts.“It’s really important for the kids I work with to put their shares toward other people in the world because they are God’s people, too,” Kim explains. “They need to know what might be a little bit for them could be a lot to someone else in the world.” Kim has witnessed her students embrace the mission with remarkable enthusiasm. From lemonade stands to annual bake sales, these young advocates have consistently stepped up to support ZOE’s work. “It’s kids helping kids,” she says..

The ZOE Documentary about Race Across America, “Sound of Freedom,” has been eyeopening for many, including her own husband, yet Kim recognizes the challenge in spreading awareness: “People just don’t want to hear it. They don’t want to know the ugliness of it.” Yet she remains committed to the mission. “I’ve partnered with ZOE for 20 years now, and people are starting to see that this is a bigger problem than they realized and that it impacts all of us.” Kim demonstrates how one person’s commitment can create lasting change.

“I always knew about human trafficking, but when I learned about the extent of child sex trafficking, it broke my heart. I was inspired by the quote, ‘Nobody makes a greater mistake than he who does nothing because he can ‘only do a little.’ Even if I could only do a little, I wanted to start somewhere. Through a friend, I learned about ZOE. I realized I could give, pray weekly for ZOE, and educate others. Even small actions matter, especially when we work together.” Ken also mentioned being inspired by a message from Jack Hibbs, who said, “I’m going to do it, but don’t let my fingerprints be on it.”

He then added, “That visual stuck with me—it’s not about me, but about glorifying God in everything I do.”
