GOWEEKLY 05 2017 HOROSCOPE

ARIES

VIRGO

TAURUS

LIBRA

GEMINI

SCORPIO

March, 21 - April, 19 This is a perfect time to spruce up your home. Rather than rush into a project that you might later regret, it's better to spend the day with color and fabric swatches. Once you're happy with a scheme, then you can pick up a paintbrush. Think hard before making a decision.

Famous Aquarius

Ilvia Gustina Born: February 07, 1982

AQUARIUS

January, 20 - February, 18 Your poise and gracious nature serve you well now. The best thing you can do is spend time around other people. Go to a party or other social gathering. The evening is bound to be a resounding success as you radiate warmth and energy and people respond in kind. Allow everyone the pleasure of basking in your glow.

WELLNESS You may want to do some kind of volunteer work. Helping the needy is a year-round opportunity, not limited to certain special occasions. Pay attention to this part of yourself and to your outgoing nature. If you have like-minded friends, try to start planning a day or two of service in advance. There are so many opportunities for giving of yourself that you may have a hard time deciding where to focus your attention.

2

April, 20 - May, 20 You have the creative ability to make a real go of your music or writing. Why not put it to better use? Are you afraid to take the risk? You may be inspired to rise above your fear as you read a book or hear a piece of music that moves you to want to create one of your own. It's never too late to get started. May, 21 - June, 20 Prosperity isn't just around the corner - it's here. Your finances are looking better than ever. Don't rely on this money, however. The whole point of a windfall is that it's unexpected, and thus can be used for luxuries or indulgences that you wouldn't normally allow yourself. If you begin to spend a windfall before it arrives, it's no longer a windfall but just another paycheck.

"You've never looked better" CANCER -

CANCER

June, 21 - July, 22 You've never looked better. As a result, people are drawn to you and you have an unusually large circle of friends. This is fun but time consuming, as everyone seems to want a piece of you. Try to keep your feet on the ground.

LEO

July, 23 - August, 22 You've always been interested in the arts, and now you want to explore that interest on a deeper level. A visit to a museum isn't likely to do the trick. Instead, why not enroll in a class or sign up for a lecture series? A few artists, in particular, capture your interest. Make it a point to concentrate on them first.

August, 23 - September, 22 Don't be surprised if you run into an old friend you haven't seen in a while. The casual pleasantries you exchange could develop into something more. Perhaps you will discover a common interest and decide to build a business based on it. Keep your eyes (and mind) wide open. September, 23 - October, 22 The planetary configuration makes you likely to reap the benefits of all your hard work. The little windfall you receive is nice, to be sure, but don't think of all of it as fun money. Put a good amount aside in a savings or investment account. You can use the rest to kick up your heels a bit. October, 23 - November, 22 Keep your mind on the present. As much as you'd like to be somewhere else, your daydreaming is getting out of hand. If you're sincere in your desire to explore other lands, begin some research. For now it's better to focus on any problems that make you want to run away.

SAGITTARIUS

November, 23 - December, 21 There's passion in the air. You can feel it. The feeling is so strong that the air almost pulsates. What are you going to do about it? If you're in a romantic relationship, plan an intimate evening together, free of chores and daily tasks.

CAPRICORN

December, 22 - January, 19 Has the opposite sex always been so attractive? They seem especially so and capture your attention right and left. One person, in particular, you've always considered a platonic friend, but it seems interested in you romantically. Perhaps this person is just picking up on your vibes.

PISCES

February, 19 - March, 20 Creativity and romance are a good combination and both are in top form. Why not get out the good stationery and craft a love note that will set that special someone's heart aflutter? Cater to your romantic nature, ideally with a partner at your side.

Denzel Washington won the SAG Award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role on January 29. COVER STORY GOWEEKLY 05 2017

This talented DJ has been gigging hard recently, playing at the hottest parties and events in Curaçao and in the Netherlands. Fabian Cominencia, better known as DJ FAB started his career in 2009 as a simple ‘YouTube DJ.’ His exceptional DJ skills, variety of music, and that added personal touch makes him stand out. "Crazy ideas are all over my mind and I mean, ideas that you wouldn’t expect from a DJ". This year, expect loads of more exciting things from DJ FAB! Read his interview here. Editor: Sendeliz Gibbes | Photography: Jose da Silva

Fabian Cominencia Can you tell us about the evolution of DJ Fab, how did it all start? DJ Fab started out as a simple 'YouTube DJ' during get-togethers at friends’ houses. I was always in charge of the music at gatherings and parties. After playing, I always received great feedback from people that enjoyed my music choices. This all started in 2009. As the months passed by, my interest grew more and I decided it was time to buy a small DJ set. Playing on the DJ set wasn’t easy at all, it was actually pretty difficult. It was even so difficult that I started to believe that the DJ set

"Crazy ideas are all over my mind and I mean, ideas that you wouldn’t expect from a DJ"

wasn't working properly. I decided to sell the old one and save up enough money to buy a more modern and bigger one. I really thought that on the bigger DJ set it would be smoother and easier. But I was wrong. The only thing I was lacking was a lot of training and I realized that after

watching numerous YouTube videos. Exchanging tips and tricks with other DJs helped me also. I started to receive more small bookings and recognition, and I started to grow in the Antillean scene. I also started with my mixtape concept, by the name Fabulouz mixtapes.

GOWEEKLY 05 2017 COVER STORY

"In Curaçao, it’s more dificult because the majority of the crowd just stand there and look at the DJ"

the crowd that’s dancing in front of me. My favorite genre is afrohouse, but it’s not the only genre that I like. I’m an eclectic DJ, so that means that I play all types of genres and I love playing all types of music. Mixing songs that you wouldn’t normally think on mixing is what I strive for, or mixing a song no one was expecting. I just enjoy the feedback I get from the crowd while mixing unexpected songs.

What’s the best part of being a DJ?

Who would you like to collaborate with in the future and why?

The best part of being a DJ is the feeling when I’m in front of an audience and you let them feel your music choice all the way. Seeing everyone with their hands in the air, enjoying the party and the vibe, it’s priceless. They might not even know that I’m the one playing, but the feeling I get seeing the crowd enjoying the music and just dancing, is the best thing about being a DJ.

I would like to work with local artists, my fellow islanders on Curaçao. Currently the local artists are growing fast in the entertainment world. There is nothing more wonderful than a collaboration with my fellow Curaçaoan artists.

How do you select music for your DJ set and what’s your favorite genre to play?

The difference between how I play in the Netherlands and how I play in Curaçao doesn’t differ much, but Curaçao will always remain a challenge for me. The crowd in Curaçao is definitely not the same as the crowd

My music selection evolves around the crowd, I mean I'm playing for them. My music selection is based on

10

How does it feel to play in Curaçao compared to the Netherlands? Do you play differently here?

in Europe. I must say it’s easier to entertain the crowd in the Netherlands. In Curaçao, it’s more difficult because the majority of the crowd just stand there and look at the DJ. The challenge I experience is to get them to dance and enjoy the music.

What is your most memorable show up until now? There are a lot of shows that I can look back and say WOW, that one really was one for the books. For example, Cuba Libre 2016, I started that show with a video intro, something I hadn’t seen before in the urban DJ scene, it was crazy! The other show was the Fullmoon festival at Kokomo Beach Curaçao. Those two shows are the ones I would like to repeat soon!

What can we expect next from DJ Fab? Any current or future project you can share with us? Well expect the unexpected, haha. I'm always striving to be different and original compared to the other DJs, because there are a lot of DJs in this scene at the moment. Crazy ideas are all over in my mind and ideas that you wouldn’t expect from a DJ. But one thing I can say is, be and stay pending for many more Fabulouz things that are on their way.

For many, the weekly market in Barber has become a Sunday ritual. I heard about it for so long and recently I decided to check it out for myself. Here’s my experience of Barber’s weekly market… By: Shari Jourdain

Sundays in Barber Culture Upon arrival, I noticed immediately how the market would be a unique experience and a good place for culture tasting to tourists. And with food stands serving traditional dishes all around, you will literally get to taste it! I could hardly choose what I wanted to get. There are also a few stands selling local handmade products, and of course I had to get myself a goodie. It’s such a great spot to talk to people and get to know a little more about this little neighbourhood.

Perfect combo To make most out of the day, I’d recommend visiting the market early in the morning and spend the rest of the day beach hopping. The perfect combination for a perfect Sunday. Support your locals and visit Barber’s weekly market!
