23-24 Impact Report
Girls on the Run NYC has experienced a tremendous year of growth, empowerment, and joy-filled movement. Thanks to you, in 20232024, GOTR NYC surpassed its preCOVID participant registrations and had our largest year ever! With 1,444 participants, GOTR NYC served more girls than ever before. And with over 1,500 people at our spring 5K, we brought participants, family members, volunteers, sponsors, and community members together to celebrate and witness our girls’ accomplishments, and to revel in the community we are building.
But as we all know, the story is much bigger than numbers- it’s about the young people who brought our program to life. One caregiver said their participant, “now has more skills, self-confidence, and passion for physical activity.”
This impact is seen first hand through stories from our participants, as one stated, “I am strong and confident.” Building off of the theme of community, another said, “If girls come together, they are able to do anything.”
Your gift enables us to continue bringing life-changing lessons and a sense of community to more girls throughout New York City. And with over 80% of girls receiving financial aid, your gift truly ensures that our program remains fully inclusive and accessible.
While we look ahead to the upcoming season and all that it has in store, we wanted to pause to say thank you for your continued generosity and support. Thank you for empowering girls with confidence, social connection, and skills to last a lifetime.
Joy Goldsmith Executive Director
With a mission to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively incorporates running, GOTR NYC envisions a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.
“My daughter personally has more confidence in herself and knows that she is capable of anything she sets her mind to.”

INCREASED, GIRLS ON THE RUN NYC IS MEETING THE MOMENT BY MEETING THEIR NEEDS.
According to research, 360,000 fifth grade girls are less confident today than they were in 2017.
Feelings of loneliness have exponentially increased while time with friends has decreased.
By implementing a new suite of curricula named The Confidence Suite, GOTR is weaving the core theme of confidence through the curricula’s content. When girls are confident, they are more likely to have higher self-esteem, which can have a positive effect on mental health and overall wellbeing.
