Unlocking power & potential for every girl With a mission to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively incorporates running, GOTR Greater Oregon envisions a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

Dear friends, I am writing this note with so much pride and gratitude for what the team at Girls on the Run Greater Oregon accomplished this year! We saw our highest turnout to date in terms of the number of girls we reached, coaches we engaged, and teams we supported. At a time when girls are increasingly less physically active and report increasing feelings of anxiety and isolation, it brings me joy to know that 1,390 girls participated in our program during 2024/2025 school year.

Last spring we adopted a new curriculum called “Hello, Mountain Mover!,” which inspires girls to build the confidence to do hard things, take on challenges, believe in themselves, and strengthen their resilience. And we are bringing these lessons back into the office as we face challenges of our own. For the third year in a row, we have seen increases in requests for financial aid as families face increasing financial insecurities. This reality has shifted our funding model significantly as we must rely less on registration revenue.

But we know we can do hard things and we are up for the challenge! Our staff and board are working creatively to expand our fundraising initiatives, reduce expenses through in-kind donation drives, and work with our partner organizations to tap into new revenue sources. One of our participants this spring shared that she learned, “That even when something gets hard, you stick to it until the end and the results make you really happy!” We could not put it better ourselves.

If you are reading this letter, you likely played a role in our impact last year as a donor, coach, parent, board member, or community partner. Thank you for joining us to creatively to say “yes” to as many schools and families as possible. Together, we can move mountains!

Each Girls on the Run season ends with a celebratory 5K. This closing event gives program participants a tangible goal to work towards and a sense of accomplishment.

GOTR Alumnae supporting GOTR girls Check out this sweet photo of Hadley (15) and Harley (9) at our Spring 5K. The girls are neighbors from NE Portland. Hadley was a GOTR girl back in 2019 and was Harley’s 5K Buddy this spring.

Harley loved the running aspect of our program. She methodically increased her lap goals at each practice as she trained for the 5K. And when the time came, she chose Hadley to be her 5K Buddy because she knew she could keep up with her!

We love seeing multiple generations of GOTR girls support each other!

Sip in Sneakers 2025 We held our biggest fundraising event to date on April 10, 2025! Supporters joined us at Helioterra Wines in Portland for a fun night of wine and food. We heard from a former GOTR Girl turned coach, held a silent auction, and raised nearly $35,000 for our scholarship program.
