Maternally DRIVEN Performance DELIVERED Sterling and I have moved our cowherd to Sumption Farms in Frederick SD.

In August of 2017 we finalized our plans for the future. It is our goal to deliver a genetic package that has been developed utilizing the latest technology in herd identification, feeding, herd health & animal husbandry. Sumption Farms operates with industry leading technology. Our genetic selection will continue to meet our customers’ demands of profit driven goals.

Sterling will graduate in May from SDSU with a degree in Animal Science and plans to return to the area to be a partner in our seed stock operation. This has led to the formation of SK Cattle. We have been a seed stock supplier for 30 years and are building the stage for many more to come.

Our sale format will be a Private Treaty Bid Auction with bids opening January 3rd and closing January 26th. On January 3rd all bulls will have a base price established. Bidder numbers will be assigned to all bidders. We will have a bid sheet for each lot to record your bids. Bids will be accepted in person, on the phone, or text. Base price will be established & thereafter minimum bids of $250 or increments of $250 will be accepted. On some of the front end bulls we may ask for higher bid dollar amount to speed up the process.

All individuals, ranches, or groups that bid prior to the close on January 26th before 4:30 PM will be allowed to bid as we close each lot.

The foundation of our cattle operation was called home on November 4th, 2017 at the age of 86. Dad started to artificially inseminate his cow herd in 1973. In 1975, he became a member of the American Simmental Association and registered his first set of half-blood females. This began with private treaty sales and then evolved into our annual production sale. Our Father and Grandpa instilled in us a hard work ethic and the importance of our faith.
