Let’s talk about last year’s 1st Leading Ladies Sale. It seems nobody ever wants to write about how well their cattle sold, like it’s a “bad business” to talk about high prices and a successful market. Well, I don’t know anyone in the cattle business that wants to buy “poor” cattle from an unsuccessful source. They want and need to buy from a successful program that they know demands top dollar from other breeders. Last year’s event was exciting to say the least! 20 open Charolais heifers averaged $8,003, 8 Red Angus open heifers averaged $8,688 and 8 Simmental open heifers at $5,000. Two partial interest donor dams averaged $19,750 and three flushes averaged $13,500. Open show heifer prospects sold for $30,000, $29,000, $25,000, $16,500, $13,000, $11,500, $11,000, $11,000 & $10,000! So yes there were also heifers that sold for $2,300 to $5,000, but if you wanted in the top end of the show and brood cow prospects you’d better come prepared!

Her dam is the tremendous donor for Wright & Cody Cattle Company in Missouri where she has produced loads of money.
