Welcome! This year will mark our 11th year of having a goat sale each spring. Last year we decided to broadcast our sale live on Dv Auction and will be doing the same this year.

For those of you that don’t know us, we are a family run ranch in north central South Dakota. We have raised Registered Red Angus cattle for 25+ years and host an annual bull and female sale each year. We have been raising Boer Goats since 2010, well actually prior to that but 2010 was when we purchased a group of 40 does and made our goat project a little bigger! We run over a 100 head of does and kid some in Dec -Jan to offer goats to our local area for 4-H and junior shows as well as area breeders. We kid the remainder of our does in April each year. Our original registered goat genetics come from Rockin H - Will Harvey family near Georgetown, TX. He was about to get out of the goat business when we wanted to expand. We purchased a couple bucks and several does from him to start building our registered herd. Since that time we have purchased from numerous people but most of our colored genetics have come from Boers By Hobby in California. We found that their does could transition well in our climate and that they stay in our herd for an extended time. We also found Bill and Sue had quality color genetics, that were harder to find a few years ago.

Our doe herd is required to be as low maintenance as possible, however due to our extreme cold temperatures in the winter our doe herd gets grain during kidding time and raising those babies. The rest of the year they need to earn their keep by grazing or on alfalfa hay. We only have a few months each year where nights stay above freezing, but we also have summer days well over 100. This group of kids was born in a heated barn and at a week of age turned into an unheated barn and allowed to run outside at will. We pull most triplets off in the early group as it is hard on those does udders raising three kids when most days don’t get over 20 degrees outside and that is a warm day! However this year was an extremely mild winter.

We are offering you a few wether prospects, some buck prospects and all our doe kids from our Dec-Jan kidding with the exception of a couple bottle goats and a couple that got hurt prior to or after weaning. This has been our standard protocol for the past 10 years. There are absolutely no goats sold prior to this sale.

The kids have been fed a custom goat grower pellet and limited hay. The kids have received at least two doses of cd&t vaccine and two doses of an autogenous vaccine that protects against clostridia A, C, E, H. Somni, Mannheima haemolytica types 1 and 6, multocida type A, mycoplasma and staphylococcos made by Nold Animal Health, Gettysburg, SD. They were weaned in Mid March. Our doe herd is annually vaccinated with these products as well as a CL vaccine, Camplyobachter jenjuni and a ecoli, salmonella, rota-corona virus vaccine prior to kidding each year.

We are not a tested free herd if that is important to you.

All doe kids and wethers sold in this sale will be eligible for the Rushmore State Royal show to be held Sept. 18th in Brookings, SD. This show will be comprised of only goats purchased from eligible SD Breeder’s in this group. There should be about $30,000 in payouts and awards at this show.

We wanted to keep a doe from each of our sire groups and the easiest way to do that is to offer them up as a choice lot.

The successful bidder gets their pick of 3A, 3B or 3C.

These three does are not necessarily similar in type but they will make an impact on a breeding program and that is what we are in the business for. The granddam and sire of 3A & 3B both originated out of the Bronc Flemming herd and is about the widest topped thing on the place. This dam of 3C was the Reg. Overall SDSF breeding doe last year as a 6 yr old.

SALE TERMS AND CONDITIONS Sale Conducted by Auctioneer Should any dispute arise from the taking of bids, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. This catalog/sale lot order is believed to be accurate as of the date of printing. Additions, substitutions, and deletions may be posted to any future edition of this. Any future editions of this catalog/spreadsheet will take precedence over this edition.

Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed material in the then most current catalog.

Exception to Guarantee: In case where the animal is subject

to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee is null and void.

Settlement: Transportation charges on animals returned to the

personal check with a bank letter of guarantee at the time of the sale unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made prior to the sale. The right of the property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any goats will be released.

Seller are for account of the purchaser. No incidental expenses such as feed, care, AI signing fees, interest, veterinary charges, etc., will be charged by either party when making settlement.

If Seller is successful in proving the animal in question to be a breeder, then said animal will be reclaimed by the purchaser at his/her expense. Should the Seller fail to so prove the animal a breeder, then Buyer is guaranteed a satisfactory replacement, F.O.B. Ranch or location or origin or a refund of the actual purchase price paid F.O.B. selling point. In no event shall Seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.

Certificates of Registry: Registration application will be

No guarantee is given that semen collected from the buck will freeze. No guarantee is given for bucks sold under seven(7) month of age.

Does: Does are guaranteed to be breeders. In the event

a female is claimed to be a non-breeder, after being bred regularly to a buck known to be a breeder and after being treated by a licensed veterinarian the matter must be reported in writing to the seller within five (5) months of sale date.

Seller shall have six (6) additional months in which to prove any such females a breeder and may use any registered buck of the breed available to him. Any female returned will be at the purchaser’s risk. No guarantee is given that a pregnant female will deliver live kids or that she will carry kids full term nor the kids carried will not be mummified. Seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the female has been sold for sickness not apparent at sale time. No guarantee for females purchased under 5 months of age on date of sale.

Identification: Seller offers each registerable buck/doe with

readable tattoos corresponding to what would need to be on its ABGA registration. All goats sell with Scrapie tag as their ID tag#.

Buyer shall be responsible for all costs, including attorney’s costs, incurred by Sale Management or Seller in connection with collecting, or attempting to collect, payment due.

Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to

protect the safety and comfort of Buyers, neither the Sales Management, Auctioneer or Seller assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.

Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the Buyer as soon as sold, but it shall be the obligation of the Seller to see that animals are fed and cared for free of charge to Buyer, until loaded for shipment or until the expiration of 48 hours after the sale, whichever occurs sooner. Rights and Obligations: The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the Buyer and Seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

Shipping: Seller will help to coordinate shipping but shipping charges incurred are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Goats need to be picked up or have delivery arranged by May 10th.

NO GOATS WILL BE LOADED UNTIL THE SALE IS FINAL
