In a SmartCross study conducted by Colorado State University Research Foundation, Angus and Hereford based commercial cows were mated to Gelbvieh, Balancer and Angus sires to evaluate growth and carcass characteristics, The results of the study confirmed a 16 pound advantage in average weaning weights on the Gelbvieh sired calves. The Gelbvieh and Balancer sire groups also had heavier carcass weights over the Angus sires. Carcass weights have seen a 44% improvement in Gelbvieh cattle since 2000, and Balancer cattle have seen a 63% improvement over the same time frame. Marbling has seen a 22% improvement in Gelbvieh cattle since 2000, while Balancer cattle have seen a 165% improvement in the same time frame.

THE 2020 HOJER RANCH “YEARLING BULL CARE AND DEVELOPER PROGRAM!!

DETAILS

The 2020 Hojer Ranch Bull offering, we are offering this “Bull Care” to you for your Purchases on March 2nd, 2020 and any other Yearling Bulls that you purchase from anyone in 2020.

• The program will provide a Balanced Ration to meet the needs of the Yearling Bull, Bedding all Winter Long to protect the Yearling Bull and Semen Testing in February of 2021 to help you take full advantage of the Insurance Policy that you purchase on your bulls to protect your investment.

• There will be a Vet Protocol, that can be done or we will do upon arrival and Livestock Insurance with be required. In the Hojer Ranch Sale, we share in the cost of the Insurance.

• Cost/day will be assessed and Invoiced Monthly. For the Bull Development Service that we currently provide, the 2019 cost was $2.50/Head/day or $75/ month. 2020 Costs will be announced by Summer of 2020 as we will know our Feed Costs.

• A period of two weeks will be determined for the Delivery of Bulls in September to our ranch. All bulls are to come in at that time to minimize the “Introduction Impact”. With Yearling bulls the impact is minimal and we want to keep it that way. Another period will be determined in the Spring for Pick Up of your Tested Developed Bulls.

We Bree d ‘Em” Program

On Monday March 2nd, 2020 you will have the opportunity to take Advantage of this Program!

Planning for your replacement’s needs will give you the “PEACE OF MIND” that you are building your cow herd in a systematic manner instead of leaving it to chance. In 2020, Hojer Ranch is offering you 52 Registered and 400 Commercial Gelbvieh and Balancer Heifers that all qualify for the “You Pick ‘Em, We Breed ‘Em Program.

The program works like this: On March 2nd, you will bid on the Registered Heifers of your choice. Also, on or before March 2nd, we are offering 400 Commercial Heifers Private Treaty. Talk to Blake or Alan.

Regardless of the price of your successful Bid, you only put down $400/head. Hojer Ranch will then AI the Heifers to the Sires of “Your” choice, when “You” want the Heifers Bred. You are then Guaranteed a Bred Heifer to be picked up on October 1st, 2020 or get your money back. Arrangements may be made to leave the heifers at our ranch until a later date.

The Genetics are excellent, the Nutrition is right and the program allows us to devote our time and pasture to our cow herd.
