By activating the communities that spend the most time by the water, we have built a network of over 2,500 Indonesian local fishermen and community members who recover the plastic they collect from our environment. Bycatch that is not edible, but recyclable.

The main components of each backpack are sourced directly from the GOT BAG Clean-up Program in Indonesia.

As a passionate surfer & sailor, GOT BAG founder Benjamin Mandos had the idea to collect and recycle plastic waste from the oceans of Southeast Asia to turn it into socially responsible travel gear.

What started as a passion project is now a successful and rapidly thriving organization. In early 2020, GOT BAG began expanding its international operations to refine the brand and to grow into a global movement.

Based out of Portland, Oregon, we strive to bring the brand‘s holistic and progressive approach to global citizens who are concerned about the future of our oceans. As of today, GOT BAG employs over 70 people on three continents, with offices and showrooms in the United States, Canada and Germany.

Founded in 1977 by Captain Paul Watson, Sea Shepherd became well-known primarily for its campaigns against whaling fleets. Today, they have evolved into a global movement with independent national and regional groups, comprising thousands of volunteers across more than 20 countries.
