WELCOME Welcome to our Christmas card and gift catalogue. We hope you like the range of cards and gifts we’ve put together for you this year. There are some brand-new and exclusive options, as well as some of your well-loved favourites, all of which have been chosen for their excellent quality and value for money.

in intensive care before moving on to Penguin Ward, where she spent the next month slowly recovering. Now aged 13, Becky loves playing the French horn and has a place in the Under 12 section of the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain.

At Christmas, time spent with the people you love is precious. For the seriously ill children at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) who are unable to go home for Christmas, this is true more than ever.

We’re really pleased that Becky has designed a Christmas card for us this year (opposite), inspired by both Penguin Ward where she was treated and our brand-new adorable Penguin soft toy on page 7.

Despite the greatest challenges a child can face, the hospital is a place where being sick does not always mean being sad. And it’s a place where you’ll find some of the bravest people you could ever meet. Children like Becky, who was diagnosed at GOSH with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) when she was just four years old. Following years of managing her condition, and a period of remission, Becky fell ill over Christmas two years ago and was rushed into GOSH with a rare and potentially fatal complication of JIA. She spent three days on a life support machine

This extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support to give seriously ill children the best chance to fulfil their potential. By buying your cards and gifts from us, you are helping to fund ground-breaking research, advanced equipment, child and family support services including accommodation for parents to stay close by and the rebuilding and refurbishment of wards and medical facilities. You can buy all the items in this catalogue and many more, securely and easily at our online shop: gosh.org/shop. Ordering online gives you much more choice, including e-cards and gift cards, and most importantly, means that more money can go to the hospital. Help the families at Great Ormond Street Hospital be together this Christmas. Thank you and happy Christmas to you and your family. Alison Harper, Editor Special thanks to Becky and her family for allowing us to photograph them for our catalogue.

Your Christmas card and gift guide

I am a UK taxpayer and would like Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity to reclaim tax on the donations I have made in the past four years and any future gifts I make. I understand that if I pay less Income and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount claimed on all my donations in that tax year (6 April–5 April), it is my responsibility to pay any difference. Sorry, I don’t pay tax. Please notify the charity if you want to cancel this declaration, change your name or full home address, or no longer pay sufficient tax on your Income or Capital Gains.
