I paint primarily wet-in-wet, as I love the look of transparent watercolor. I do my own matting and framing, but also mount some of my paintings on birch panels (no mats or frame). I live in the forest zone, off grid. I am continuously inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds me. I paint “scenes” that span the visual scope and find beauty in everything from cloud formations to landscapes to forest mist, foliage, fruits, flowers, birds, and butterflies. The studio is a teaching space, creative outlet for community members and a production zone for SomeGirlsPottery. My work ranges from quirky, to rustic farmhouse and at times can be politically charged. Some pots are decorated with iron transfer decals designed in studio, while others are left partially unglazed to allow the clay and pot to stand out on its own. Stop by to see the fun in action.

A crafty person all my life, I became obsessed with wire work by educating myself in an effort to update my personal jewelry. I am inspired by all organic shapes and the designs of ancient Egypt and Scandinavia.

I grew up with art, and after a 30 year career devoted to public policy and land use, I gave myself permission just to paint. I studied watercolor with Ruth Armitage and John Salminen and with master pastellists Albert Handel and Richard McKinley. My primary medium is pastel. I focus on color, texture and the emotional content I can convey to my viewer.
