IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Physical activity has a key role to play in enhancing the well being and mental-health of students and greater participation in sport and physical recreation will promote healthy bodies and healthy minds. Competition also makes students try harder and competitive sport has clear benefits for academic achievement in the classroom.
To this end we are committed to more opportunities for students to be involved in sport fixtures, alongside maintaining the option for students to continue to engage with diverse co-curricular options midweek. Depending on their level of participation all students will have between two and four non-sport choices each week.
NB – The major sport of the term has priority on Saturdays.
Exemption requests must be directed to the Director of Sport, Mr J Harrison jharrison@gordons.school.
“Competitive sport is a key component in building self-esteem, confidence, school ethos and academic excellence.”
