2025 Community Impact Report

Page 1

As we reflect on 2025, we are filled with gratitude for the dedication and generosity that continue to move Goodwill Industries of the Valleys forward. This year marked a period of meaningful growth and momentum as we advanced our mission and expanded opportunities for individuals and families across the communities we serve.

Throughout the year, our donated goods and retail operations continued to strengthen the foundation that powers our mission. We celebrated the grand opening of the Harrisonburg Outlet & Donation Center and the newly relocated Danville Retail Store & Donation Center, both of which enhance the shopping and donation experience while supporting our ability to invest in life-changing services.

The grand opening of Melrose Plaza on July 31 marked a historic milestone for our organization and community. With construction finalized across the entire campus, Melrose Plaza now serves as a vibrant hub for education, workforce development, health, and community connection. Shortly after opening, we proudly welcomed the first class of students to The Excel Center in Roanoke, Virginia’s first adult high school, creating new pathways for adults to earn their standard high school diploma while gaining career credentials. And the Market on Melrose continued to expand its presence, increasing access to fresh, affordable food while serving as a vital neighborhood resource.

These milestones reflect more than growth. They represent our continued commitment to thoughtful progress and long-term impact. By staying focused on what we do best and building on our strengths, we are working every day to move from good to truly great in how we serve our community.

None of this would be possible without the generosity of our donors, the dedication of our team members, and the trust of the individuals and families we serve. Because of you, lives are being transformed and new opportunities are being created every day.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to expanding access to education, employment, and essential resources so that every person has the opportunity to achieve their greatest potential. Thank you for being part of this important work and for helping make 2025 a year of lasting impact.

Sincerely,

OUR GREATEST TREASURES?

Whether they work in e-commerce or donations, in the stores or behind the scenes, our team members are creating a better future for their communities. We value their contributions and foster a culture that promotes diversity and equal opportunity.

WE DON’T JUST SELL

CLOTHES.

We change lives.

At Goodwill, our vision is bold and audacious: End poverty. To do that, we help people find a job, train for a better job, or earn life skills that help them live more independently.

You are a vital part of that vision. When you uncover one-of-a-kind treasures, you become more than a shopper — you become a job creator. A champion for a greater cause. You are strengthening the community for everyone, including yourself.

Goodwill Industries of the Valleys empowers individuals through job training, career navigation, and employment services funded by donations and store sales.

Services like My Career Advisor offer resume-building, skills training, and job search tools. Career Navigation helps individuals develop their skill sets, complete trainings, and earn credentials that empower them to reach their career goals. And now, the Excel Center is a free high school for adult students working to complete their high school diploma. At the Excel Center, students receive these credits while earning industryrecognized credentials. Beyond academics, we provide wrap-around services that are proven to eliminate barriers for adult students so they can succeed.

We also invest in our own employees. Team members across Goodwill gain valuable on-the-job experience along with opportunities for advancement, skill development, and career growth within the organization. Many individuals begin in entry-level roles and build pathways to long-term careers, strengthening their financial stability and future. Through your donations and shopping, you help create these opportunities, supporting local jobs and empowering people to grow, succeed, and thrive.
