Doing good, thanks to good people like you.

As we reflect on 2024, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the resilience and determination of the Goodwill Industries of the Valleys community. This year, together, we created opportunities, inspired growth, and empowered individuals across our region to build brighter futures.

Through the generosity of our donors, the dedication of our team, and the trust of those we serve, we’ve made remarkable strides in transforming lives. Whether it was through providing essential job training or creating pathways for people with barriers to find meaningful employment, our mission remained at the heart of every effort.

This year, we celebrated milestones that speak to the profound impact of collaboration. Thousands of individuals bettered their lives through our job training and employment services. And countless families benefited from the lifechanging support that stems from your

unwavering belief in our mission. We have been diligently working toward opening the Melrose Plaza project in Roanoke. As promised, the first pillar of this project opened in November with the Market on Melrose. This momentous effort ended the existence of a food desert that was in existence for more than 40 years!

The success of 2024 is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together with a shared vision. As we move forward, our commitment remains steadfast— to foster independence, dignity, and opportunity for all. Thank you for being part of this journey.

Sincerely,

Whether they work in e-commerce or donations, in the stores or behind the scenes, our team members are creating a better future for their communities. We value their contributions and foster a culture that promotes diversity and equal opportunity. For many, Goodwill® is more than a job, it’s a calling. They know that meaningful work changes lives.

Our greatest treasures? Our team members.

At Goodwill, our vision is bold and audacious: End poverty. To do that, we help people find a job, train for a better job, or earn life skills that help them live more independently.

You are a vital part of that vision. When you uncover one-of-a-kind treasures, you become more than a shopper — you become a job creator. A champion for a greater cause. You are strengthening the community for everyone, including yourself.

We don’t just sell clothes. We change lives.

Goodwill Industries of the Valleys empowers individuals through job training, career navigation, and employment services funded by donations and store sales. Services like My Career Advisor offer resume-building, skills training, and job search tools. Career Navigation helps individuals develop their skill sets, complete trainings, and earn credentials that empower them to reach their career goals. Beginning in August 2025, The Excel Center ® will help adults earn high school diplomas and industry credentials.

Specialized services support older workers, individuals with disabilities, and those needing Medicaid waiver programs. The Senior Community Service Employment Program helps low-income seniors re-enter the workforce, and employment services assist individuals with disabilities in securing jobs.
