Technology Upgrades

• The CRC Team met with the Talent Acquisition Team this month to strategize on a procedure to fast- track job seekers who want to work at Goodwill and to provide referrals to the Job Connection for those who are unable to get a job at Goodwill.

• Manatee District Schools hosted a Back-toSchool training session at our Corporate Campus for 100+ paraprofessional pre-k teachers.

• We rolled out the LiftUs platform this month for our CRC/Job Connection/AVF programs.

• The Marketing Team worked with Mission to provide a PowerPoint for use with the local Chambers and EDCs to market Job Connection services to employers who have job openings and who would like our assistance in filling those openings.

• Project 180 hosted a planning meeting for their next Re-entry Simulation event. That event will take place at our Corporate Campus on Friday, October 9 • This month, we welcomed back students from the Career Academy of the Palm Beaches to two of our stores for the ESE high school work experience program.

• ESE high school work experience students were back at multiple Goodwill stores at GIMI too.

• We met with The Academy at Glengary to discuss potential internship opportunities for neurodivergent college students.

• We have established a LiftUs Governance Team that is meeting monthly to review and approve additional feature requests.

▪ The Governance Team is working on a comprehensive SOP that will address data, governance, and data integrity for all Mission programs.

GIMI OPERATIONS Safety First – Team Meetings

Christmas in August at Ranch Lake

Safety is always an important practice here at Goodwill. Safety Drill meetings allowed the teams to come together to exemplify our Core Values of Prioritize People, Promote Accountability and Pursue Excellence. The leaders were able to take this time to recognize their teams and set expectations for the upcoming season. Take 2 for Safety!

Last year’s Christmas shop set up in Ranch Lake was a huge success. So, we went big again this year! Congratulations and a big THANK YOU to the New Goods team and Team Ranch Lake who both worked together for a great set up in record time!

GIPB OPERATIONS Annual Recognition Breakfasts

Now Open! Westlake ADC

One of the highlights of August was gathering for our North and South Annual Recognition Breakfasts. From 5 years of service to more than 20 years, it was inspiring to see so much tenure represented across our organization. The breakfasts gave us the opportunity to celebrate these milestones and recognize a job well done. Along with breakfast, honorees received their years of service certificate and pin, a gift card, and a raffle ticket for a prize. The smiles, applause, and congratulations throughout the morning made it clear how much these accomplishments meant.

The opening of our newest Attended Donation Center, located at 4931 Seminole Pratt Whitney Road, Suites 1000 & 1100, Westlake, FL 33470, marked an exciting addition to our donated goods operation. The location opened with donation hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and added one full-time and two part-time positions. Westlake ADC expands our footprint in the community and strengthens our ability to capture donations that support our mission. This accomplishment reflects our commitment to Pursue Excellence and would not have been possible without the hard work, collaboration, and dedication of so many individuals across the organization. Thank you to everyone who helped bring Westlake ADC to life.

Sunscreen Contest Winners Paradise found! Woodbridge and PSL West GGCs enjoyed a tropical celebration after leading the way in the Sunscreen Contest.

Summer Ends. Improvement Doesn’t.

The first wave of store painting is nearly complete, and new Wares Production Stations are rolling out across our stores. As Summer of Image ends, the work continues through continuous improvement as we Pursue Excellence.

Waste & Recycling Expo Abra Joseph attended WRExpo, where industry leaders and partners gathered to discuss recycling, sustainability, and waste management. The event provided new insights and opportunities that support our ongoing efforts to better understand and manage our waste streams.

SAFETY & RISK MANAGEMENT Risk Management

Audits

Loss Prevention

During August, the Safety & Risk Management team remained focused on fostering a strong safety culture through monthly site audits, safety inspections, training compliance, and storm preparedness initiatives. Key areas of emphasis included slip, trip, and fall prevention, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), material handling safety, emergency preparedness, and timely incident reporting.

Audit results across multiple locations reflected strong compliance with established safety standards while also identifying opportunities for continued improvement in training completion, housekeeping, and maintaining hazard-free work environments.

During August, Loss Prevention efforts focused on reducing shrink, strengthening physical security, and improving operational consistency across GIMI and GIPB locations.

Below, Paulette is conversing with Joseph as Joseph shows a great example of ensuring our sales floor is free of slip, trip, & fall hazards.

Our donor door team members show a true example of teamwork.

Additionally, with hurricane season underway, teams were reminded to remain vigilant in preparing facilities, protecting team members and customers, and responding quickly to weather-related concerns. Team members are reminded to opt in and receive updates and scan the QR code for up-to-date resources.

Jamie Berger, Loss Prevention Manager, spent time at GIPB locations building relationships with leaders and team members while partnering with Beau and Jerry to support store teams in maintaining safe environments for team members and customers.

Key initiatives included enhancing dressing room controls, improving NetTrack reporting quality, increasing theft awareness, and reinforcing consistent Loss Prevention practices that support accountability, operational excellence, and shrink reduction.

We are so excited to welcome Joseph Slaughterbeck to L&D!

GIMI:

Joseph is joining our Learning & Development team as our new L&D Operations Business Partner. Based in GIPB, Joe will serve as an important bridge between L&D and Operations, partnering with operational leaders to strengthen training, leadership development, coaching, role readiness, and overall performance across GIMI and GIPB. Joe brings more than 10 years of experience in operations, project management, training, leadership development, and continuous improvement. He is a veteran, bilingual in Spanish, and holds both PMP and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certifications.

We’re excited to have Joe on the team and look forward to the impact he’ll make across our organization!

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & RECOGNITION Support & Recognition

Community Engagement

On August 11, we hosted the monthly GIMI Recognition Breakfast with 47 attendees. We also held annual GIPB breakfasts on August 19 and 20.

Across these events, more than 150 team members were celebrated, including one team member with 37 years of service. These breakfasts provide an opportunity to recognize the dedication and hard work of our teams.

We are grateful that the Louis and Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust matched our Change Round Up donations throughout August. This generous match further amplified the program’s impact in support of our mission.

Looking ahead to 2027, we are excited to share that updates are coming to our recognition breakfasts to better align our GIMI and GIPB teams. Stay tuned for more details.

The team ensured that all 90-day team members received their pins throughout the month. We also received and closed more than 100 tickets in August.

Our annual cultural survey remained open throughout August, giving all team members an opportunity to share their feedback. We look forward to reviewing the results and sharing an overview soon.

In August, we hosted a Lunch and Learn where attendees were impressed by the breadth of Goodwill’s work. That impact is possible because of each team member’s dedication—thank you!

At the Manatee Chamber Small Business Awards, we were honored to present United Way Suncoast with a nonprofit award in recognition of their meaningful work in the community.

Our partners at Suncoast Blood Centers gave our team a tour of their impressive facility. Our blood drives have been highly successful in supporting their lifesaving work.

Throughout the month, we also supported events hosted by the Manatee Chamber, Sarasota Chamber, Venice Chamber, Women’s Resource Center, and other community partners.

We hosted our first GoodwillU Learn session this month and had great participation and engagement from our partners!

Continued strategic engagement with Goodwill partners through customer checkins, planning discussions, and relationshipbuilding conversations to better understand organizational priorities and identify opportunities for support across MDS solutions.
