20 23 ANNUAL REPORT

from

LETTER LEADERSHIP

Dear Friends,

In 2023, Goodwill Manasota achieved remarkable success and growth. We expanded our territory into portions of Charlotte & Lee counties, and we announced our plans for further expansion into the Palm Beach and Treasure Coast territory, finalized in early 2024. I am immensely proud of our team’s dedication and ongoing commitment to learning and development while we support all those we serve.

Our impact on the communities we serve was profound, with over 4,000 individuals benefiting from our services and local partnerships. We also increased front-line team member wages again in 2023, outpacing Florida’s minimum wage by over two dollars an hour. We continued to prioritize efficiency and effectiveness through organizational optimization and innovation.

I extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to our exceptional volunteer Board of Directors, team members, community partners, donors, and shoppers for your unwavering support of Goodwill Manasota year after year. Together, we are Changing Lives through the Power of Work, and it is your dedication and support that makes this possible.

With gratitude,

ROBERT W. ROSINSKY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Goodwill proudly presented its inaugural Robert W. Rosinsky Achievement Award, made possible by the Louis & Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust, to team member Dora Talamantes. When Dora applied for a job at Goodwill, she was not a native English speaker. However, the hiring team saw her potential and the unique qualities she could bring to the organization.

In her acceptance speech, Dora shared, “Working for Goodwill has given me both professional and personal satisfaction. I found a place where I can grow as a person.

I knocked on many doors, but Goodwill was the only one that opened that door. Goodwill was the only place that gave me the opportunity to show what I can give. The people that opened the door for me and welcomed me to be part of this family were incredible people. Thank you, Alexa, Sara, Donn, Brady, and Morgan.

An ideal life is full of dreams, but also discipline and a lot of work. We have to surround ourselves with people who add something good to your life, and sometimes we have to try twice as hard. But in the end, what made you different will be something extra. I had to learn another language (I’m still working on it), learn new rules of a new country and I’m very, very far from home, but now I have another home, and the best team, my husband, and Goodwill.

One of the things that I really appreciate in life is to be exposed to examples of life that teach me, and Mr. Bob is one of them, a whole life of dedication. It is a great example to follow.

The only thing I can say is what my mother taught me, “Follow people who leave traces that don’t fade, and no matter what happens, just keep going.”, so I will try to be a good example, like you.”
