His debut album began as a self-produced release called Marita: Shadows and Storms, copies of which local Native American artist, Frank Howell, distributed in his art galleries. After the record made its way to radio stations, it began generating a buzz among programmers and received unprecedented response among listeners. Higher Octave Music picked it up and released a fully remastered version, Nouveau Flamenco. Recorded for less than $3,000 on an old analog machine in a shack beside a gravel pit, this CD became an international sensation, establishing Liebert’s unique border-style flamenco, and becoming the best-selling instrumental acoustic guitar album of all time

On paper, The Full Monty sounds outrageous: six laid-off steelworkers in Buffalo decide their best shot at a fresh start is to form a strip act. In performance, it becomes something else entirely. The laughs are big and frequent, the score is irresistible, and the finale one of those “you had to be there” moments that sends people out of the theatre grinning. You come for the comedy and the fun, and somewhere along the way you find yourself rooting hard for six ordinary guys trying to hold onto pride, family, and friendship in a world that has moved on without them.
Adding to all of that, is Emmy Award winner Sally Struthers. She is live on stage, up close, sharp as ever, and very, very funny. If you grew up watching her or have seen her work on stage, you know the kind of warmth and comedic timing she brings into a room. Seeing that in an intimate theatre like The Gateway is a very different experience from seeing it on a screen.

No stars headline but the actors Okieriete Onaodowan and Augber Mizzelle deserve all the kudos they’ve earned for their intense, sensitive and powerhouse performances in writer-director Ngozi Anyanwu’s acclaimed two-hande “The Monsters.” They play halfsiblings who reunite when Lil turns up after 16 years and slowly enters the aging MMA champion Big’s life and heart. With the excitement of the Academy Awards recently, we’re reminded of a memorable Oscars moment featuring Darlene Love. When the documentary 20 Feet from Stardom won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2014, Love brought the room to its feet with a spontaneous performance on the Oscars stage, a powerful reminder of the voice that helped shape generations of popular music.
This spring, you can experience that legendary voice live when Darlene Love returns to Kupferberg Center for the Arts for Love Songs on April 25, celebrating a remarkable career filled with timeless hits and electrifying performances.

Two Off-Broadway camp hits sail and strut move to Broadway this month: Jim Parsons and Deborah Cox join co-creators Marla Mindelle (who portrays Celine Dion) and Constantine Rousouli (who plays Jack Dawson) along with Frankie Grande (as Victor Garber) who reprise their hilarious performances in the longrunning cult spoof “Titanique.” Called by one critic “undoubtably the summer’s gayest new musical,” the comedy uses Celine Dion’s song catalog to create a send-up of the blockbuster film “Titanic” in which Dion hijacks a Titanic Museum tour. “Cats: The Jellicle Ball,” a reimagined revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s, is not your mother’s “Cats.” Filtered through a queer lens, the 2024 Off-Broadway hit transforms the overly familiar musical into the world of Ballroom and Vogue runway competitions, while doing justice to the tuneful earworms of songs. Directed by Obie Award winners Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch, a marvelously talented cast – with strong, distinctive personalities and amazing acrobatic and vocal dexterity – struts the runway to bring a fresh twist to the various cat tales. Tony winner André De Shields returns as Old Deuteronomy. Original 1982 cast member Ken Ard and Leiomy, a lead judge on HBO’s voguing competition “Legendary,” join the immersive production. Arturo Lyons and Omari Wiles created the spectacular choreography. Previews start March 18. (Broadhurst Theatre) catsthejellicleball.com
Long Island has a rich history of producing great musicians. Billy Joel, Joan Jett, Twisted Sister, Zebra, Barbara Streisand, Eddie Money, Lou Reed and dozens more come to mind.
However, the backbone of the Long Island Music community is the Home Town Heroes, the local bands, musicians and businesses that aren’t national. No one was honoring them or putting them in a Hall of Fame, so two years ago, The Long Island Music Business Organization (LIMBO) was formed, a chamber of commerce-like organization to promote Long Island’s many music business...clubs, restaurants, performing arts centers, radio stations, and recording and rehearsal studios.
Last year LIMBO held the first Legends of Long Island Music Awards, where 200 of Long Island’s music community turned out to honor 40 honorees at a sit down awards dinner. It was a great event, and open to the general public as well.
History will repeat itself. The 2nd Legends of Long Island Music Awards Dinner will take place on Tuesday, March 31st at Anthony’s On

The Water in Lake Ronkonkoma at 6pm. Band honorees this year will include Decadia, Funk Filharmonik, The Liverpool Shuffle and Benoir. In addition, 20 businesses will also be honored for their continued support of Long Island Music, including The A Room, Mike McElwee (founder of Nutty Irishman), Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, The Music
Zoo, School of Rock, The Jazz Loft, Infinity Records, Mr. Cheapo, Anthony’s Live Events, John Gatto, Izzy’s Promoting Local Talent, John Rose (filmmaker), WHPC, Flushing Town Hall, Renee Leone, PDT Entertainment, and Dream Studios.
The evening includes a lavish dinner buffett, cash bar, and awards given to all the honorees, who will be present to accept their award. There will be a free raffle for a guitar by a sponsor, Murphy’s Music (an honoree last year), and a few special surprises.
You can be part of this great night. A limited number of tickets are available to the public for only $53. A table of 10 is only $490.
Get your friends, come on down and meet and greet the honorees and help show your support for Long Island Music.
To purchase tickets, call Rich at 516-280-2100. Check, credit card and Zelle are accepted. Or you can email gtmag@optonline.net for more info. Tell your friends, and spend a night you’ll remember with old friends.

Most Mets players had not reported to the Mets spring training base in Port St. Lucie, when the first injury to a key player was reported. Shortstop Francisco Lindor, who underwent off-season surgery to remove fragments in his right elbow in October, went under the knife again on February 11 to repair a broken hamate bone in his left hand.
Even if the best-case scenario of Lindor being ready to go on Opening Day were to occur, it would be advisable for both Mets management and Lindor not to rush things. Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez underwent a similar medical procedure last spring. He hurried back and his offense and defense were both so poor that he got demoted to the Mets’ Syracuse farm team.
It is also a long season. Lindor frequently has gotten off to cold starts which match the April weather in Queens. When healthy, Lindor almost never misses a game. A shortened season would benefit him, and it would especially pay dividends if the Mets were to make it to the postseason.
Lindor’s absence creates an opportunity for perennial Mets prospect Ronny Mauricio to finally prove himself. For years, Mauricio was considered the top prospect in the Mets’ minor league system and was considered untouchable when other teams mentioned his name in trade talks. It is time to see whether Mauricio can produce.
The 2026 Presidents Day weekend marked the 25th anniversary of the crash in the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500 which claimed the life of NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt. FOX Sports’ cable outlet, FS1, last month debuted a documentary, “We’ve Lost Dale Earnhardt.” The doc relives that terrible day in Northeast Florida, but it also examines the profound effect Earnhardt had in popularizing stock car racing.

Peacock has launched a series, “Field Generals,” which looks at the history of African-American quarterbacks in the National Football League from pioneers Marlin Briscoe and James Harris to Doug Williams, who became the first quarterback of color to win a Super Bowl, to today’s signal callers such as Caleb Williams, Justin Fields, Malik Willis, and Lamar Jackson. According to Sportbookreview.com, it will cost you $1,500 to propose on the Citi Field scoreboard which is the costliest in the majors. You may want to think about going to the Bronx as those hopeless romantics, the Yankees, only charge $150. Bargain hunters can go to one of the nicest MLB locales, PNC Park, the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates, where it only costs $40. There are no refunds in case you get turned down at any of the stadiums. The humiliation is completely on the house, however!

For many baby boomer and Gen X football fans, the broadcast team of John Madden and Pat Summerall were the gold standard of NFL broadcast booths, as they were a tandem for 21 seasons, and on two networks, CBS and FOX.
Author Rich Podolsky has carefully crafted the biographies of both men into one book, aptly titled “Madden & Summerall” (Lyons Press). Madden is the bon vivant everyman who suffered from claustrophobia, while Summerall, comes off as popular but stoic, and who quietly battled alcoholism.
“Madden & Summerall” also takes us back to a simpler time when the fates of broadcast networks depended on winning NFL rights. Rich Poodolsky takes us behind the scenes with the power players of time in the networks’ corporate suites, and the top talent agents who repped the big names in the sports broadcast booth.
Prime Video’s “Soul Power,” is a terrific four-part documentary, narrated by actor and hip-hop star Common, which examines the tumultuous nine-year history of the American Basketball Association.
The documentary pays homage to the terrific teams and players of the ABA such as Dan Issel, Willie Wise, Mack Calvin, Mel Daniels, Rick Barry, and Long island’s own Julius “Dr. J” Erving. It also credits the league for inventing the three-point shot, physical play, great athleticism, and for having truly integrated teams where it was not unusual for black and white players to room together on the road.
On the debit side, “Soul Power,” ignores those players who were renowned for getting into fights with opposing players and fans such as John Brisker

and Wendel Ladner. The documentary also overlooks legendary Lou Carnesecca who left St. John’s University for three years (1970-73) to coach the New York Nets when they played in both the Island Garden in West Hempstead, and the first years of the Nassau Coliseum. Louie was able to get such great Red Storm players as Billy Paultz, Joe DePre, and Sonny Dove to play for the Nets. Sports equipment, collectibles, and gaming companies had a major presence at the 2026 New York International Toy Fair held at Javits Center. With the FIFA World Cup being played in the USA this summer, it is not surprising that Franklin Sports and Playpro were touting their soccer balls, despite neither company being licensed by FIFA. Playpro has smartly created soccer balls with the designs of the flags of the teams playing in the World Cup.
Fans of cricket will enjoy Metashot’s videogame which puts the joystick wicket in your hand. Australia’s Hunter Products has the licensing rights to use past and present ESPN logos on their basketballs, footballs, and soccer balls. New Jersey’s Firebomb has a line of basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, and paddle racquets which illuminate in the dark for those who enjoy outdoor sports after sunset.

Party Animal has licensing agreements with all the major sports leagues and is a one-stop shop for coffee mugs, water bottles, flags, and banners of your favorite teams, as well as select action figures of well-known athletes.

Brutal Panda Records announced the signing of Brooklyn-based noise rock/punk outsiders FOREIGN BODY.
FOREIGN BODY formed in New York City in 2022 and quickly released an EP and a pair of demos. Their debut album FIXED followed via cult Malaysian label Menora Recordings in 2023 with a 2025 re-release on Reanimated Miscarriage, gaining the attention of many in the underground thanks to its ugliness and ferocity and the raw, unflinching lyrics.
With their second LP coming up later this year, FOREIGN BODY comes ripping through with the new single “Strung Out.” Recorded by Matt Russell at Altered States in Chicago (REZN, Oozing Wound, Big Laugh), the track was produced, mixed, and mastered by Matt Ibarra of Rectal Hygienics at STR in San Diego, completed with artwork by vocalist Hugh.

Brooklyn band Ringing, the project of bandleader Colton Walker announced their debut album, another cycle in the cosmic wash, available via Julia’s War Recordings and Signal//Noise Records. Ringing began as a solo project back in 2020, developing into a scene favorite three-piece in New York City. Known for their monumental sound and visceral lyricism, the band’s last EP, Is It Light Out Where You Are?, arrived in 2023 via Julia’s War and Candlepin Records.
After playing all over the East Coast over the past few years, Ringing has supported bands like Bleary Eyed, Shower Curtain, All Under Heaven, Soft Blue Shimmer, and more. More shows will be announced soon. For more information on upcoming performances, follow the band on Instagram at @ ringingnyc.

It started on a dance floor in Brooklyn. Sweaty, intimate, improvised. Then it spilled into nights, hopping from party to party along North 6th in Williamsburg. Grabbing cabs across the borough just to catch the last minutes of a set you’d talk about for years.
That’s the energy BEMF was born from. An independently curated nightlife and arts festival, BEMF captures the soul of Brooklyn electronic music culture: movement, risk, discovery, direct connection to artists, and those rare, unforgettable moments when the dance floor becomes everything.
What began as a platform for emerging local talent quickly became a cultural blueprint; used as inspiration worldwide. As Brooklyn nightlife has ebbed and flowed, BEMF has always stood for the same thing: independent curators shaping culture from the ground up.
Now, on its 18th anniversary, BEMF returns and not a moment too soon. In an era where nightlife is increasingly flattened into big business and algorithmic lineups, BEMF reasserts the power of intention. This is a festival built by trusted local curators, crafting lineups that resonate beyond a single night, beyond a single room; lineups that matter.
One affordable ticket unlocks access to the full spectrum of New York’s electronic music scene: past, present, and future. Enjoy a full day and night of curated panel discussions, local food vendors, and live performances across multiple stages. https://www.bemf.live/

Rodney Crowell released “Go Light a Candle” featuring Emmylou Harris and Lera Lynn via New West Records. A timeless protest song, Crowell originally released the single anonymously last year, but after the ICE raids in Minneapolis, decided to give the song a proper release with an accompanying video directed by Joshua Britt and Neilson Hubbard. Crowell says, “Although I expected the last presidential election to turn out exactly as it did, I wasn’t ready for what would come next. I shared with my good friend, Sam Baker, how I wanted to write a protest song that wasn’t strident or blatantly insulting anyone’s intelligence other than my own. Sam listened to what I had written and said, ‘Now go light a candle.’
“Go Light a Candle” follows Crowell’s 2024 studio album, Airline Highway, which featured Ashley McBryde, Lukas Nelson, Charlie Starr of Blackberry Smoke, and Rebecca & Megan Lovell of Larkin Poe.
IRON

Trafalgar Releasing announced the official title, key artwork, and North American theatrical plans for the upcoming Iron Maiden feature documentary, now titled IRON MAIDEN: BURNING AMBITION.
Documenting one of the most iconic journeys in music history - the film is set to hit theaters for a limited time only beginning May 7, 2026, with tickets going on sale March 18.
Directed by Malcolm Venville (Churchill at War) and produced by Dominic Freeman (Spirits in the Forest – A Depeche Mode Film), the feature-length documentary charts Iron Maiden’s remarkable five-decade journey.
The newly released key art by Albert “Akirant” Quirantes offers the first visual look at the documentary.
Formed in East London in 1975, Iron Maiden have grown into one of the world’s most influential and enduring rock bands. Across 50 years they have released 17 studio albums, sold over 100 million records, and performed almost 2,500 concerts across 64 countries.
A recently announced, one-of-a-kind, celebration named EddFest in historic Knebworth Park, England, on July 11 forms part of over 50 shows worldwide in 2026.
Michael Sweet, the singer-songwriter and frontman for the multi-platinum rock band STRYPER, has just released his new single “Lord” - the second single from his upcoming solo album. His most personal and spiritually resonant solo album yet, ‘The Master Plan’ is set for release on April 3, 2026, via Frontiers Music Srl.

With sweeping arrangements and a sincere spiritual core, the album offers both comfort and inspiration for moments of quiet contemplation.

SABATON announced that their explosive concert film “Sabaton – The Tour To End All Tours” has officially landed on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and YouTube in a wide range of territories.
This means fans can now experience The Tour To End All Tours — which travelled across Europe in 2023 and hit cinemas worldwide in 2024 — from the comfort of their sofas, bringing the SABATON energy straight into their living rooms.
“Sabaton – The Tour To End All Tours” means a great deal to the band. This show was recorded at a completely sold-out Ziggo Dome in 2023 in Amsterdam, where thousands of fans came together to share an unforgettable night. For those who know SABATON’s story, this concert carried special significance. When they first played in the Netherlands six years after they formed, it was in front of a handful of people. Looking back at that moment and comparing it to the packed arena of Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome is truly mind-blowing.
Multi-platinum singer/songwriter Kip Moore marks his return with his brand new track “Levee,” along with an official video, available everywhere through Virgin Music Group. An anthemic, guitar-slinging banger built for the fast lane,“Levee” was co-produced by Moore alongside Andrew DeRoberts (Stephen Wilson Jr., Tate McRae, Zac Brown Band) and features guest vocals by Hillary Lindsey. The official video was directed by PJ Brown and finds a wayward Moore traversing a barren, southwestern landscape.

“Levee” arrives as Moore also announces his Reason To Believe World Tour, where he’ll headline stadiums and arenas across Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Europe, US, and the UK. Most notably, he will play a series of shows at the SuperSport Park Stadium in Pretoria and at Cape Town’s GrandWest Arena, notching his first trip back to the country since 2024. To date, he has played his largest shows in South Africa, with his 2023 arena show becoming the fastest sell-out in Cape Town history, eclipsing Sting, and performing for crowds of over 40,000 fans. For a full list of dates, please visit kipmoore.net.

For nearly six decades, their sound, spirit, and unmistakable energy have echoed across generations, influencing artists and audiences around the world. In 2026, the band adds a remarkable new chapter to their legacy with Live at Eden Project — a landmark live recording that captures the raw power, emotional depth, and artistic ambition of their unforgettable July 2023 performance at Cornwall’s iconic Eden Project.
Set within one of the UK’s most sustainable and visually striking venues — a breathtaking network of biomes nestled in the Cornish countryside — the concert stands as a testament not only to The Who’s musical evolution but also to their enduring cultural relevance. Backed by the Heart of England Philharmonic Orchestra, founding members Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey delivered a performance that fused classic rock intensity with orchestral grandeur. The Eden Project’s natural acoustics and enclosed structures created a warm, detailed sonic environment that offered a clarity and intimacy unmatched by traditional stadium settings.

One of 2026’s most anticipated albums Trixies is the band’s first album in eight years but the first they ever wrote. A collection of stories set in a fictional night club, Trixies, the album was written by the band’s teenage founders Chris Difford (19) and Glenn Tilbrook (16) at the very start of their songwriting partnership. Now more than fifty years on, Squeeze have completed the circle and realized the vision the precocious teens had for the songs that, as the Guardian wrote, show that “all the Squeeze hallmarks of melody, romance and storytelling were there from the beginning.”
