‘BACK TO THE FUTURE’ MISSING GUITAR
Gibson has launched a global search for the world-renowned Cherry Red Gibson ES345™ guitar that Michael J. Fox played in the 1985 hit film from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, BACK TO THE FUTURE, which became the biggest film of 1985 in the U.S. and the second highest-grossing worldwide.
The stunning guitar was showcased during the beloved film’s unforgettable “Enchantment Under the Sea” school dance scene, a pop culture moment that has inspired many musicians to pick up guitars for the very first time after witnessing the character of Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) play the legendary song “Johnny B. Goode.” During the making of the 1989 sequel to the film, the filmmakers went to look for the guitar, and it was nowhere to be found. Now, music fans worldwide have the chance to help Gibson find the most important guitar in cinema history.
Fans who have any tips as to the whereabouts of the missing original Cherry Red Gibson ES-345 guitar that Michael J. Fox played in the film BACK TO THE FUTURE can contact Gibson via www.LostToTheFuture.com or call/text 1-855-345-1955.
LIMEHOF TO INDUCT HASSLES
The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) will be inducting Long Island’s own 1960s era seminal rock-soul group, The Hassles— best known as Billy Joel’s first major record label band— including acclaimed drummer-turned-videodirector Jon Small. Additionally, there will be a special celebration event co-produced by Stephen Marcuccio on Saturday, June 28th, at 8 p.m. at its Stony Brook Village Museum, located at 97 Main Street in Stony Brook, NY. The event is open to the public with special event ticket purchase. Tickets are $50.
LIMEHOF inductee Liberty DeVitto (Billy Joel’s Band) is expected to officially induct the group. The event will feature live performances from current LIMEHOF inductees, including the hit-making duo The Alessi Brothers, and two-time LIMEHOF inductee drummer Mike Ricciardella of Barnaby Bye and The Illusion. Joining them on guitar will be legendary guitarist Jimmy Rip. These musicians will honor the legacy of The Hassles by performing some of the group’s most popular songs, including ‘Every Step I Take,’ ‘You Got Me Hummin’,’ and ‘I Can Tell.’ Also, LIMEHOF inductee Albert Bouchard (founding and former member of Blue Öyster Cult) is expected to speak as well.

QUEENS JAZZ TRAIL CONCERT SERIES

Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College announced the return of the Queens Jazz Trail Concert Series, a free, outdoor music series celebrating the borough’s world-renowned jazz heritage. In partnership with NYC Parks, Flushing Town Hall, and the Louis Armstrong House Museum, this vibrant concert series brings live jazz performances to community parks across Queens from June through August 2025.
The series is inspired by the Queens Jazz Trail Map, a project of Flushing Town Hall that traces the borough’s deep connections to legendary artists like Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Charles Mingus. Since the 1920s, Queens has been the borough of choice for hundreds of jazz musicians, many of whom made their homes here even while performing around the world. Despite being left out of many mainstream accounts of jazz history, Queens has played an essential role in shaping the sound of the genre. The Trail Map highlights the actual addresses where these icons once lived and continues to be updated with new discoveries, most recently in 2023. With each performance, audiences are invited to experience the living legacy of jazz in the very neighborhoods that helped shape it. For more information, visit kupferbergcenter.org/qjt

LA MAMA PRESENTS THE MOBY DICK BLUES

La MaMa presents The Forty Hour Club’s world premiere of The Moby Dick Blues, an epic new blues/rock opera written and created by Michael Gorman, directed by Joe John Battista, with original music by Battista and lyrics by Gorman. The Moby Dick Blues runs through June 22, in a limited engagement at La MaMa’s Ellen Stewart Theatre, located at 66 East 4th Street in New York City.
“Think Trainspotting meets The Perfect Storm” in The Moby Dick Blues—a working class opera for our planet…for our times. Told through lyrics and live music that span the spectrum from blues, spoken word, rap and rock, this epic opera begs the question, “What was Ahab but an addict really, and what was the white whale but an allusion to opium, and heroin, its contemporary scourge.” The opera’s metaphor calls for a reevaluation of Ahab’s vengeful obsession with the White Whale, and our own destructive relationship with nature, the environment and ourselves.
Performances are Thursdays - Saturdays at 7 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Run time is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes with one intermission.Tickets are $30 and $25 for students and seniors (includes fees). First ten tickets to every performance are $10 each, first come first served – in advance, online only. For more info and to purchase tickets visit https:// www.lamama.org/the-moby-dick-blues.

THEATER: BOLD REVIVALS AND DAZZLING PREMIERES

Ramin Karimloo channels silent film swashbuckler Douglas Fairbanks as the dashing (but vulnerable) Pirate King in “Pirates! The Penzance Musical,” a jazzy-bluesy take on the classic Gilbert and Sullivan operetta (adapted by Rupert Holmes). Jinkx Monsoon is a comic delight as the nurse Ruth, David Hyde Pierce masterfully navigates the Major General’s devilishly difficult tonguetwisters and Nicholas Barasch is a charmer as the wide-eyed young pirate in this spirited revival directed by Scott Ellis and choreographed by Warren Carlyle that “sizzles with Caribbean rhythms and French Quarter flair.” (Todd Haimes Theatre) https://www.roundabouttheatre.org/get-tickets/2024-2025/pirates-thepenzance-musical
Six-time Emmy winner and “Hacks” star Jean Smart returns to Broadway for the first time in 25 years in the world premiere of one the most highly-anticipated new shows of the post-awards season “Call Me Izzy.” In Jamie Wax’s darkly comedic one-woman play directed by Sarna Lapine, Smart stars as a rural Louisiana writer harboring a secret that is both her greatest gift and her only way out. She “resists being silenced by embracing her tenacity, humor and fiery imagination.” (Studio 54) callmeizzyplay.com

as Nat “King” Cole, not only replicating the crooner’s distinctive velvety vocals on classics like “Nature Boy,” “It’s a Good Day,” “Smile” and “Unforgettable,” but also his sophistication and elegance in the highly entertaining and ambitious musical drama “Lights Out.” Hill dances up a storm (tap choreography by Jared Grimes) with Daniel J. Watts, who plays a hyper, ingratiating Sammy Davis, Jr. Eschewing chronology and historical accuracy, playwrights Colman Domingo and NYTW’s artistic director Patricia McGregor (who also directs) have re-imagined the final Christmastime broadcast of the groundbreaking “Nat King Cole Show” on December 17, 1957 – not literally but as a surreal and emotionally charged “fever dream.” Here provocateur Sammy Davis Jr. pushes the outwardly suave crooner to confront the racism that underlies his TV show’s inability to find national advertisers, the white face-powder Cole is forced to wear on the air, and the racial indignities he has suffered. The strong cast includes Lizzy Brooks, Krystal Joy Brown, Christian DeMarais, Kathy Fitzgerald and showstopper Kenita Miller. (New York Theatre Workshop) nytw.org/show/ lights-out-nat-king-cole/ Cult favorite “Heathers the Musical” returns to Off-Broadway in director Andy Fickman’s revamped production which has played various venues in London since 2018. Lorna Courtney plays Veronica, a high school girl who is drawn into the ruthless world of the Heathers (McKenzie Kurtz, Olivia Hardy and Elizabeth Teeter). Casey Likes costars as JD, the mysterious teen rebel, and Kerry Butler and Ben Davis play the adults. Based on Daniel Waters’ 1989 dark teen comedy of the same name, the musical (which ran Off-Broadway in 2014) features book, music and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe. BOUNTIFUL GOURMET: LA PETITE FRAMBOISE by Rich

FRENCH DELIGHTS IN PORT WASHINGTON
Have you ever driven by a place dozens, perhaps hundreds of times, but didn’t really pay attention to it?
It seems like La Petite Framboise restaurant in Port Washington has been there forever. Come up Shore Road, stop at the traffic light at Main Street and you’re facing it.
Searching for someplace new on Yelp, this restaurant came up repeatedly, filled with praise. Nothing to lose we figured, so we gave it a try.
Are we lucky we did? This gem is what a neighborhood place should be like. In this case, the neighborhood is Paris, and having a meal at La Petite Framboise is like being swept away to the French countryside.
The walls are decorated with French posters and photos, but tastefully done. The bar reminds you of an old time bar that would be tucked away in some Parisian bistro, filled with locals, shouting and singing.
More important, the food is outstanding. Our first visit was for Sunday brunch

PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL
Fall in love all over again with one of the most beloved romances of the 90s-Pretty Woman: The Musical! The classic film, starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, is now a hit musical! On stage at The Gateway Playhouse in Bellport, NY, from June 20 – July 13, 2025.
Once upon a time in the late ‘80s, unlikely soulmates Vivian and Edward overcame all odds to find each other… and themselves. Experience the moments

which was excellent. It was so good in fact that we returned for dinner another afternoon, and were equally impressed.
Service is exquisite, and our hostess, Alessandra, greets everyone and constantly checks each table to make sure that all are having a good time. Her husband Farid works the bar and keeps the spirits flowing.
For brunch we had Oeufs Benedicte, tasty traditional eggs benedicte but skillfully prepared with short ribs, served with delicious home fries. Also excellent was the Croque Monsieur, a ham and cheese sandwich, toasted brioche with bechamel sauce. A winner. Unbelievable was the Sandwich Bouchère...sliced filet mignon, mozzarella, pickled red onions, on a baguette served with French fries. I will probably kill next time if I don’t order the French Toast Crème Brûlée. It looked outrageous.

On our Mother’s Day dinner visit, we went over the top. Starting with a delicious Calamars Framboise, calamari with honey raspberry glaze. Plus a delicious french onion soup, and an order of clams. Main courses were all over the place, sharing and smacking our lips. Tagliatelle au boeuf bourguignon was outstanding. The steak frites was a 12 oz delight, tender and served with crispy fries and herbed butter. Also over the top was an order of P.E.I. mussels. Wow, they were tender and plentiful.
This place is a real gem, and it is filled with seniors and youngsters, families and couples. It is truly a melting pot.
La Petite Framboise is located at 294 Main Street, Port Washington 516-7677164. Reservations are STRONGLY SUGGESTED. Bon Appetit!

SPORTS BEAT

The jewel of last winter’s free agent class, Juan Soto, got off to a slow start as he batted a pedestrian .244. To his credit, Soto did not show any sign of frustration even after seeing numerous hard-hit balls be turned into outs. Perhaps because the Mets were winning, the Flushing faithful did not boo him, nor did they call to whine on WFAN. If Mets fans do not expect Soto to be Aaron Judge, then all should be well.
Soto also benefited from the Knicks’ deep run in the NBA playoffs which took attention off him. He should send a gift basket to Jalen Brunson who has proven to be the type of superstar who singlehandedly wills his team to victory in big games the way LeBron James and Stephen Curry have routinely done.
The second week of May is when the various television networks and streaming services hold big presentations at New York venues to tout their programming to advertisers and the media known as upfronts.
NBC, which will be celebrating its centennial in 2026, is poised to have the biggest year in televised sports as they have the rights to the upcoming Winter Olympics, Super Bowl LX, the Kentucky Derby, and the highest-rated TV primetime program, “Sunday Night Football.”

What NBC executives really touted to their Radio City Music Hall audience, however, was the return of the NBA to the Peacock Network after 23 years. Garden City native John Tesh led a fifty-piece orchestra to play the old “Roundball Rock” theme. Michael Jordan will be a “special contributor,” while Knicks legend Carmelo Anthony will be a studio analyst for NBC Sports.
While NBC picked up the rights to NBA games, Warner Media lost them. Warner Media Sports’ CEO Luis Silberwasser put the best bow he could on that at the Warner Bros. Discovery upfront. “We’ve had a change in our sports portfolio,” he said, and then touted the new college football and basketball packages WBD networks will be showing.

FOX Sports has long held rights to both Major League Baseball and the NFL, but they increased their motorsports presence last year when they acquired the rights to the Indy 500. David Letterman, who owns an Indy car racing team, made a surprise appearance at the FOX upfront.
As always, Disney, which owns ESPN, was the big kahuna when it came to devoting time to sports at an upfront presentation. Disney CEO Bob Iger kicked off the proceedings by stepping onto the Javits Center stage with Patrick Mahomes and Saquon Barkley. With the Knicks on the verge of beating the rival Boston Celtics in the second round of the NBA playoffs,

Disney executives were smart to have former Knicks stars John Starks, Allan Houston, and Patrick Ewing to take the stage to pump up the ad buyers. Peyton and Eli Manning have been big contributors to ESPN, especially their premium website, ESPN Plus, so it was not surprising they were given a lot of time on the Javits stage including time for a painful singing bit. They announced a new show for Hulu,“Chad Powers,” which stars Glen Powell as a college football player whose arrogance cost his team a championship and is now seeking redemption. The idea for the show came from an episode of “Eli’s Places” on ESPN Plus in which Eli Manning dons a disguise to see what it is like for a walk-on to make the Penn State football team.

Prime Video will be back with Thursday Night Football and will once again have a Black Friday game. In what they hope will be a new Black Friday tradition, Prime Video will show an NBA game that evening as they also now have a piece of the NBA package. Prime will also have a new six-part documentary series, “Home Team: NY Jets.” You can think of this as a variation of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” but the difference being that it looks at the lives of six players on and off the field over a season instead of the team.
In other Prime Video news, WWE star Mike “The Miz” Mizanin will be hosting a reboot of “American Gladiators.”
The world’s leading steamer, Netflix, was slow to warm up to sports. That has quickly changed as it obtained the rights to the WWE’s “Monday

Night Raw,” and is now home to the NFL’s Christmas Day games. They have also scored big-time with their “Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” series. Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones will be the subject of a Netflix documentary this August. When it comes to sports, the two major Hispanic television networks,Telemundo and Televisa Univision, are fiercely competitive. Telemundo will have the Spanish broadcasting rights to Super Bowl LX and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Televisa Univision is not settling for second-best when it comes to the world of futbol as it is the broadcast home to Liga MX and it has the Spanish-speaking rights to UEFA Champions League. Univision also broadcasts “MLB en Vivo,” a baseball wraparound highlights show, and it will show some playoff games in Spanish come fall.
Bowling is enjoying a resurgence. The national bowling-restaurantentertainment chain, Lucky Strike, which has an outlet in Melville, has just opened their first center in Queens, in the Woodside neighborhood, close to the LIRR station there.

COUNTRY
JOSIAH FLORES’ “SOUTHSIDE”

Part-time poet turned melodic storyteller, Chicano singer/songwriter Josiah Flores puts music to the parts of life most tend to hide from. From the foothills of south San Jose to the foggy avenues of San Francisco, he calls the Bay Area his home. Influenced by the likes of Stoney Edwards, Freddy Fender, Willie Dunn, and Waylon Jennings, if one were to sit in a dimly-lit corner of their local watering hole, hunched over a beer, they would find Josiah’s songs sitting down next to them. What first started off as a solo project, Josiah has now brought some new players to join him on his second full length album, Doin’ Fine, a collection of songs that explore themes of change and transformation.
The band includes Esther Gonzales (dobro, lap steel), Sydney Peterson (bass), K. Dylan Edrich (Fiddle), Ainsley Wagoner (piano, keys, background vox) Jacob Aranda (pedal steel), and Marisela Guizar (drums), musicians all based in the Bay Area. The album was produced and recorded on Otari ½” 8 track by Alicia Vanden Heuvel, at Speakeasy Studios SF, her record label and analog recording studio of the same name, in San Francisco’s Mission District.

PATTY
GRIFFIN UNVEILS CROWN OF ROSES

Crown of Roses sees Patty Griffin once again forming a poetic tapestry woven from the threads of love, loss, grief, disillusionment, resilience, and hope, shifting fluidly between intimate confessions, philosophical musings, and symbolic storytelling – all grounded in intensely human feelings and emotion. Burrowing into the stories she had long been telling herself, the award-winning songwriter ruminates on a vast array of themes and deeply personal topics, spanning the trajectory of women in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Produced by longtime collaborator Craig Ross and featuring musical contributions from her trusted band members David Pulkingham (guitar) and Michael Longoria (drums), the album drifts from spare folk to gauzy Americana to sly gospel blues over the course of eight moody new songs that evoke the scrubby west of Griffin’s adopted Texas and the calming verdancy of her home state of Maine. From the atmospheric “Born In A Cage” and the spectral “Long Time” (which includes a backing vocal cameo from Robert Plant) to the sparse, emotional authenticity of “Way Up To The Sky,” Crown of Roses is among Patty Griffin’s most profound works to date, continuing her exceptional talent for translating thorny concepts and finely wrought character studies into songs that speak as much to her own experience as they do to the lives of those who have loved her music now for more than three decades.

LAGUNA ALBUM ‘THE GHOST OF KATRINA’
Melodic hard rockers LAGUNA announced the release of their debut album, ‘The Ghost Of Katrina,’ out on July 11th, 2025 via Frontiers Music Srl. In addition, the first single, “Ghost Behind The Mask,” is out now accompanied by a music video.
Hailing from the northern part of Mexico, from the arid desert of Torreón, Coahuila, LAGUNA is a five-piece hard rock band ready to take the world by storm with their debut album, ‘The Ghost Of Katrina.’

Drawing from the European and Scandinavian melodic hard rock scene, LAGUNA’s sound is a blend of powerful production, anthemic choruses, and in-your-face guitar riffs deriving from influences like One Desire, H.E.A.T., and other renowned acts from the scene.
‘The Ghost Of Katrina’ is produced by Jimmy Westerlund (known for his work with One Desire and more recently Giant), and perfectly captures LAGUNA’s high-energy and dynamic style, bringing to life a heavy yet melodic sound that’s both thrilling and emotionally charged. The songs feature strong hooks, vibrant instrumentation, and an intensity that reflects the band’s unrelenting passion for hard rock.
DEMON UNVEIL NEW SINGLE & VIDEO

Iconic British heavy metallers Demon unveiled their new single and accompanying lyric video “Hole In The Sky”, taken from their latest studio album, “Invincible”, released on May 17th.
The album will also be available as double blue vinyl on August 29th, 2025. Offering a sound that melts their classic root Hard Rock approach with the Progressive and Epic overtones of their mid 80’s album, “Invincible” is an album which is going to make longtime aficionados very excited along with all the fans of such bands as Magnum, Uriah Heep or classic Rainbow. Dave Hill’s raspy and soulful vocals may be the common denominator since the band’s inception, but Demon are possibly one of the few bands who have managed to maintain their signature sound during years and update it in the new century, still maintaining the taste for a ghoulish image and elegant music.
“Invincible” was written and produced by Dave Hill and drummer Neil Ogden, and Dave Cotterill and Paul Hume are on guitars, Paul Fasker Johnson is on bass, and Karl Waye is on keyboards, completing the lineup.
