Here we go again! Creator and producer Judy Craymer announced that the global smash hit musical MAMMA MIA!, the ultimate feel-good show set to the timeless songs of ABBA, will return home to Broadway this summer.
On Saturday, August 2, 2025 at the Winter Garden Theatre (1634 Broadway), MAMMA MIA! will resume performances at the musical’s original home on Broadway, where it opened in 2001. The production played for a record-breaking 14 years and 5,773 performances at the Winter Garden and then at the Broadhurst Theatre, making it Broadway’s ninth-longest running show of all time.
An opening night celebration will be held on Thursday, August 14th. Judy Craymer said, “When MAMMA MIA! opened on Broadway in 2001, the show had already launched productions in London and Toronto and played a sold-out North American tour. It arrived in New York at the magnificent Winter Garden Theatre.” Last year, MAMMA MIA! celebrated 25 successful years in the West End, and it’s truly fantastic to bring the original production back to its Broadway home after 24 years. We learned a long time ago not to write dining reviews when hungry. Even though I just ate, I still had to drool while thinking about a recent dining experiences at an area Asian restaurant.
We’ve passed DD Soup, Dumpling and Hibachi many times, but based on many favorable online reviews, we decided to dine there one evening. A very wise choice. This location has seen many restaurants, including Dave Glicker’s original craft beer joint.
The current restaurant has turned the place into a very pretty room, separated in two. On the right side is the Hibachi Grill, where you can watch the chefs spin their magic. The place was crowded, and it looked like everyone was having a fine time.
On the left side is the regular restaurant, and this place is overseen by host Richard, who scurries around the room, checking with customers and making sure everything is to their liking.
The menu has a very extensive steam soup dumpling and dim sum choices, but we opted for the regular menu.
An order of orange chicken was delicious, tender, crispy and very plentiful at $15, what a find. Next was the crispy beef with sesame. Bells went off, this was a WINNER.
I rarely order beef in a Asian restaurant because it’s either dry or tough.
Not this beauty. It was a mountain of pure joy. Tender pieces of meat, gently

cooked in sesame, with a fantastic crunch. I think I would come back every day for this if I could.
To round out the order, we had an order of fried udon noodles with shrimp. Fantastic! A huge plate of noodles with a half dozen large shrimp. The price for this masterpiece–$12. This was an exceptional meal at a great price, with great service, and pleasant surroundings. I would suggest you make reservations as this place is often crowded.
And it was interesting to see that at 10 pm (The place is open til 11 pm), the place started to fill up again as groups of people came in for a late night outing. And check out their menu online. They have special deals including a very special Hibachi offer. And don’t forget to say high to Richard and tell him Good Times sent you. We’ll probably run into each other.
DD Soup & Dumpling is located at 111 Jericho Tpke., Jericho. Call 516-3335588 for reservations.
Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in the “Easter Egg Hunt in the Trees”. Participants will climb through the Park on the hunt for “Easter Eggs” hidden among the trails. After celebrating its 25th anniversary last year, the New York Guitar Festival launches into its second quarter-century with an all-star lineup and an expanding range of venues. There are events at Merkin Hall at the Kaufman Music Center – the festival’s ancestral home – but also in Brooklyn’s historic First Unitarian Congregational Society.
The 2025 series, in collaboration with the World Music Institute, kicks off on Friday, June 13 with perennial NYGF favorite Bill Frisell. The legendary American guitarist will perform in a duo setting with Icelandic bass player Skúli Sverrisson in the festival’s first-ever event in the beautiful 19th century Gothic revival building that houses the First Unitarian Congregational Society.
The festival continues on Saturday, June 21, with a pair of extraordinary virtuosos from Brazil: the veteran Yamandu Costa and the rapidly rising Gabriele Leite will each offer a solo set, playing colorful original works redolent of the tropics, as well as recent classical composers like Sergio Assad. And on Thursday, June 26, New York audiences will have their first opportunity to hear the new duo of Derek Gripper, the South African guitarist, and Rahim Al-Haj, the Iraqi-born, American-based master of the Arab oud.

Organizers are thrilled to kick off 2025 with an official “Save The Date” request for Record Store Day 2025, taking place on Saturday, April 12!
Since 2008, independently-owned record stores around the world have been the focus of a day to celebrate the role they play in their communities and the people who make them spin: the staff who run them, customers who shop them, and the artists who make the music they sell. In 2025, the continuing popularity resurgence of physical media, including the vinyl and CD formats, means more people than ever are coming to the party at the record store.
Record Store Day is usually held on the third Saturday in April, but in 2025 that falls during a bank holiday in many countries, so this year’s worldwide celebration is planned for April 12. Mark your calendars and save the date!
About Record Store Day:
Record Store Day, the organization, is managed by the Department of Record Stores and is organized in partnership with the Alliance of Independent Media Stores (AIMS), the Coalition of Independent Music Stores (CIMS) and promotes independent record stores year-round with events, special releases and other fun things.
Record Store Day Sponsors:
ADA, Alliance Entertainment, AMPED, AMS, BCW Supplies, Concord Label Group, Crosley Turntables, Dogfish Head Brewery, Glowtronics, Furnace Record Pressing, Music Business Association, Marshall Headphones and Speakers, MVD Entertainment, The Orchard, Redeye Worldwide, Sony Music, ThinkIndie, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Traffic Entertainment, URP Distribution, Virgin, Vinyl Styl, WMX.
The titles on the RSD 2025 Official List will be released at participating record stores as part of their celebration of Record Store Day, April 12. You can view the List on the website, with added detail and artwork. Visit recordstoreday.com RECORD STORE DAY DOES NOT SELL THE RELEASES. THERE IS NO WEBSITE WHERE THESE CAN BE PRE-ORDERED.
Mets fans may have played an outsized role in getting fan favorite first baseman Pete Alonso and team owner Steve Cohen to come to an agreement on a new contract. At the Mets’ successful Amazin’ Day fan festival held at Citi Field on January 25, Mets fans loudly chanted “We want Pete!” as a panel featuring Cohen, and team president of baseball operations, David Stearns, was about to start.
Cohen acknowledged he wanted Pete back in a Mets uniform but was angry at all the stipulations his agent Scott Boras was throwing at him in the negotiations. He did not seem bothered, however, by the salary demands. Alonso made no secret of his desire to remain a Met. Pete enjoys New York life. He is also aware of his Mets legacy. He should be able to surpass Darryl Strawberry as the club’s all-time home run leader in 2025.
Pete’s return means Mark Vientos can concentrate on improving his defense at third base since Alonso rarely takes a day off. The conventional wisdom was that Vientos would have to shift to first base full-time had Alonso signed elsewhere. It will be interesting to see the spring training battle for playing time at second base between Jeff McNeil, Luisangel Acuna, and Ronny Mauricio. Francisco Lindor tends to play at shortstop every day, so the Mets infield is solidified.
Mets legend Mike Piazza made an appearance at the Amazin’ Day. He still looks like he could be in the Mets starting lineup. He was asked the inevitable
question about Juan Soto’s stratospheric contract. Piazza said he was glad baseball players are being compensated well and then added some wise words of advice. “My father used to always tell me not to look at another man’s pockets!”
The Jets returned to a name from their past when they named Aaron Glenn to be their new head coach. Glenn was the Jets’ top draft choice in 1994 and was a superb cornerback for Gang Green for eight years. He seemed open to the notion of Aaron Rodgers returning as the Jets quarterback, but he may have been overruled by new general manager Darren Mougey.
Tom Brady showed improvement as Fox Sports’ lead NFL analyst as the season went on. He was fortunate to have the formidable Kevin Burkhardt serve as his partner in the booth.
The problem with Brady is that he is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. The NFL forbids him from visiting the headquarters of other NFL teams. He is not allowed to talk to their personnel. Criticizing the officiating is also verboten by the NFL authorities.
I get that Thomas E. Brady is a big name, but viewers were better served by his predecessor, former NFL tight end Greg Olsen, who was able to convey strategy, and was not afraid to call out players and coaches when he deemed necessary. The telegenic Olsen could also match Brady in the looks department.
Once again, a galaxy of superstars brings their star wattage, glamour and talents to Broadway. Geoge Clooney is making his Broadway debut in his stage adaptation of “Good Night, and Good Luck,” the 2005 film he directed, co -wrote (with Grand Heslov) and co-starred in as CBS executive Fred Friendly. Now Clooney headlines as the legendary news correspondent and moral authority figure Edward R. Murrow whose “See It Now” broadcast marked the beginning of Communist-hunting Senator Joseph R. McCarthy’s downfall. Tony Award-winner David Cromer directs the drama set in the pressure-cooker world of the CBS newsroom (Winter Garden Theatre) goodnightgoodluckbroadway.com
Younger Irish heartthrobs Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott (costars of the moving “All of Us Strangers”) are gracing Off-Broadway with direct-from-London hit star turns. Mescal (“Gladiator II”) was hailed for the “swagger and sensitivity” of his performance as Stanley Kowalski in this sold-out West End hit production of Tennessee Williams’s 1947 masterpiece “A Streetcar Named Desire.” Reprising their roles, Patsy Ferran as vulnerable and emotionally fragile Blanche DuBois and Anjana Vasan as Stanley’s wife Stella both won kudos in director Rebecca Frecknall’s (the recent “Cabaret”) minimalist production that has been called empathetic as well as harsh, invigorating and youthful. Limited engagement until April 6. (Brooklyn Academy of Music) www.bam.org/streetcar
Using defining gestures and vocal nuances, Andrew Scott (“Ripley”) plays all the characters in Chekov’s great tragicomedy about unfulfilled lives, unrequited love, and heartbreaking regrets in his one-man London hit. Cocreated by Scott, adaptor Simon Stephens and director Sam Yates, this modernized “Vanya” explores “the kaleidoscope of human
emotions, harnessing the power of the intimate bond between actor and audience to delve deeper into the human psyche.” (Lucille Lortel Theatre) vanyaonstage.com
In another virtuoso solo star turn from London, “Succession’s” Emmy Award-winner Sarah Snook plays all 26 characters in a new contemporary adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s “The Portrait of Dorian Gray” for which she won the Olivier Award. Kip Williams directed and adapted this Sydney Theatre Company production of Wilde’s psychological thriller about a man who makes a Faustian bargain to possess eternal youth. Snook’s brother on “Succession” Kieran Culkin, joins Bob Oldenkirk, Bill Burr, Michael McKean, Donald Webber, Jr., Howard W. Overshown and John Pirruccello as ruthless sales-sharks in director Patrick Marber’s starry cast in the third Broadway revival of David Mamet’s explosive, testosterone-fueled, 1984 Pulitzer Prize-winning drama about cutthroat Chicago real estate agents, “Glengarry Glen Ross.” (Palace Theatre) Glengarryonbroadway.com
“Stranger Things” star Sadie Sink returns to Broadway in Kimberly Beflower’s new comedy “John Proctor Is the Villian” about five teenage girls in 2018 rural Georgia, “running on pop music, optimism, and fury, trying to summon a better future” who as the Harvard Crimson writes, “grapple with relationships, power, and finding their voices in 2018, as they concurrently study “The Crucible,” a classic text that parallels their lives during the height of the “Me Too” movement.” Previews begin March 20. The Super Bowl is renowned for its parties and television commercials.
The king of corporate endorsements, Shaquille O’Neal held his big soiree at New Orleans’ Mardi Gras World, located on the other side of the Mississippi from the French Quarter.
The TV ad which got the most pregame hype was Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal updating their famous Katz Deli scene from the film “When Harry Met Sally” for Hellmann’s Mayonnaise.
Even though it did not air during the Super Bowl, the premium rolling paper brand, Jeeter, teamed up with the National Lampoon for a fun video which spoofed “potluck” Super Bowl parties. The video starred a pair of NFL greats, Calvin Johnson, and Ricky Williams, who have achieved business success in the rapidly growing cannabis industry. It can be seen on YouTube.
The NFL is putting its muscle behind flag football, which is played by both sexes, and is considered physically safer than its tackle cousin. It was not a coincidence that the Pro Bowl format had the stars of the NFC and AFC playing flag football, and everyone was having a fun time. Flag football will be an Olympic sport at the 2028 Los Angeles summer games. The sports apparel retailer, The Athlete’s Foot, teamed up with Nike to honor one of the pioneering high school girls’ flag football teams in the country, De La Salle HS from Chicago, in New Orleans during the week leading up to Super Bowl LIX.
It is not a secret that these have not been great times for boxing. Both HBO and Showtime have stopped televising fights. The sport got a nice lift, however, last month with a light heavyweight championship from Las Vegas between

champion David Benavidez and his highly touted and unbeaten challenger David Morrell.
The 150,000 viewers who paid for the Prime Video pay-per-view got their money’s worth as the fight went the distance with both men trading blows. Benavidez won a unanimous decision.
Former Daily News sportswriter, and current SNY personality, John Harper was asked by Sportsnite host Niki Lattarulo about the Brooklyn Nets waiving vastly overpaid, poor shooting, and perennially injured guard Ben Simmons. Harper, an unabashed Nets fan, quickly replied, “I will gladly drive him to the airport to make sure he leaves town!’

TATIANA
Green Hill Productions and Burton Avenue Music announce the release of “Someday My Prince Will Come,” the second single from Gypsy jazz artist Tatiana Eva-Marie’s forthcoming album, A Whole New World: French Covers of Classic Animated Movie Songs, available everywhere on April 18th. The single, is a dreamy and heartfelt interpretation of the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs classic.
Eva-Marie’s whimsical approach to the beloved Disney tune blends her signature Gypsy jazz sound with a delicately plucked guitar arrangement that evokes the charm of Parisian jazz clubs. Her crystal-clear vocals float effortlessly above the gentle, melodic guitar work, painting a vivid picture of a fairytale romance. A playful guitar solo adds a touch of sparkling spontaneity, capturing the song’s hopeful, enchanting spirit.
JANIVA MAGNESS AT CAFE WHA
Grammy-nominated and seven-time Blues Music Award winner Janiva Magness returns with her newest single, readying the release of her forthcoming album of heartbreak and resilience, delivered with her signature blend of raw emotion and refined musicality. The album will be released on March 28 for Blue Elan Records and features Grammy nominated musicians, Jesse Dayton & Sue Foley.
Known for her commanding voice and ability to convey the complexities of love and loss, she has earned seven Blues Music
Awards, including the coveted B.B. King Artist of the Year title, and received a Grammy nomination for Love Wins Again. Her journey from overcoming immense personal tragedies—detailed in her poignant memoir, Weeds Like Us—to becoming one of the most celebrated blues artists today serves as a testament to her resilience and artistry.
She will perform at Café Wha? In Greenwich Village on April 3 in support of her upcoming album Back for You.
Austin based singer/songwriter Taylor Rae shared her new single “Cologne” along with an official video. The track is the latest release off her upcoming album The Void, the follow-up to her 2021 debut, due out April 18th. A song about lust and longing, “Cologne” is driven forward by groove, guitar, and bluesy grit. The accompanying video shows behind-the-scenes footage of Rae and producer Eric Krasno during the recording of the album.
Produced by Grammy-winner Eric Krasno (Soulive, Lettuce, Tedeschi Trucks Band) and recorded out of his studio in Pasadena, The Void is an immersive and wildly eclectic album that features songs that are vulnerable, selfexaminations rooted in loss and heartbreak, while others are celebrations of new love. Together, they explore the contrasts that have filled Rae’s life of late: darkness and light, chaos and balance, closed doors and new beginnings.
Some songs were built around live-in-the-studio performances that showcased her strength as a stage performer. Others were recorded layer by layer. The result is a stunning blend of cinematic slow-burners, self-empowerment anthems, raw stripped-down field recordings, bluegrass-inspired barn-burners, and even the occasional reggae rhythm.

Singer-songwriter Paul Simon announced “A Quiet Celebration Tour,” a US Tour for this Spring and Summer where he will present the live-debut performance of his critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated album Seven Psalms, as well as perform a celebration of his timeless classics. The evolution of this extraordinary artist continues to unfold with this offering, in which Simon chose to perform in intimate venues where the acoustics are optimal in consideration of the severe hearing loss that he incurred over the last few years. Inspired to perform again, Simon began work rehearsing and figuring out how he could bring Seven Psalms to the stage along with new arrangements of familiar favorites. Recorded on entirely acoustic instruments and performed predominantly by Paul, Seven Psalms transcended the concept of the “album” and was released as a single piece of continuous music in seven movements. Simon often says the listener completes the song, and he was eager to expand the experience into the live forum by performing this intricately layered work in intimate rooms with pristine acoustics. He’ll appear June 16, 18, 20, 21, & 23 at The Beacon Theater.
KILMARA returns with fresh energy after consolidating themselves in the Melodic Power Metal scene with their previous work Across the Realm of Time, which represented a 180º shift in their musical style. After the additions of Eric Killer, a real steamroller on the drums, and the guitarist, producer and composer Carles Salse, the band is renewed in every way and presents their new work Journey to the Sun, an adventure of epic proportions that transcends the limits explored up to this point by the band from Barcelona.
Conceptually set in the Arcade halls of the late 80’s, where first loves, unbreakable friendships, rivalries, defeats and victory celebrations took place. Places to dream of fighting battles and commanding space feats, Journey to the Sun takes us on an immersive sonic experience evoking a golden era in which Power Metal, virtuosity, guitar duels and melodies were great, all wrapped in an atmosphere created with retrowave synth bases that will transport you to another place. They team up with world-renowned and award-winning producer Seeb Levermann (Orden Ogan, Angus MCSIX, Rhapsody Of Fire, Riot V…).

Vultures Vengeance are an upcoming epic metal band in the tradition of Cirith Ungol, Manilla Road and Brocas Helm. They formed in Rome in 2009 and after one demo and two Eps, released their first full-length record »The Knightlore« in 2019. The album received encouraging reviews in the underground scene all over the world and is now being followed by »Dust Age«, their debut for High Roller Records.
In contrast to the rest of the material on »Dust Age«, the title track probably is more influenced by old Blind Guardian than anything else. Tony T. Steele confesses: “I like old Blind Guardian and you’re probably right, but when I composed that song I didn’t think of Blind Guardian. Many people told me that my voice is similar to Hansi’s, and this is probably the reason why this particular number reminds them of Blind Guardian.”
“Queen Of The Last Light”, however, does sound more like Cirith Ungol with a bit of Crimson Glory thrown in for good measure. “Thanks, you are right,” beams the guitarist and vocalist, “this song has the melodies as well as the raw approach, all at the same time.” »Dust Age« closes off with a quiet number called ”It Holds”, a ballad more or less.
Andy Bell has detailed a new solo album,Ten Crowns- set for release on May 2nd on vinyl (white, oxblood and picture disc available), CD (standard and 2CD versions), gold cassette and digitally via Crown Recordings –and shared a new single, ‘Don’t Cha Know’. The new album will coincide with a UK tour, with North American dates to be announced.
‘Don’t Cha Know’ was one of the first tracks to be written for the album, and, according to Andy, it marks “the beginning of the expedition” that would become Ten Crowns. Hinting at the emotional journey Andy has been on -“It’s so very hard to say hello / When your whole world comes crashing down,”– the moving track is accompanied by a stunning video by Stephano Barberis.
No stranger to collaboration – his four decades of writing and recording with Vince Clarke as Erasure are still going strong –Bell threw himself into writing with close friend Dave Audé, the Grammy award-winning producer, remixer and DJ. Their work together is euphoric, and to top the celebrations, they invited Andy’s ultimate pop heroine, Debbie Harry, to join Andy on vocals for ‘Hearts A Liar’.
Throbbing Gristle’s Live at the Volksbühne Berlin, New Year’s Eve 2005 has been announced as a standalone vinyl, CD and digital release, due out via Mute on May 16, 2025.
The 11-track live album was originally available on the recent box set, TG Berlin, which chronicled unreleased work recorded around a series of live events curated by the band. Recorded 20 years ago at the New Year’s Eve show at the Volksbühne, the album previewed five songs from Part Two: The Endless Not, the band’s first album in 27 years, several years before its release. The set, described by Uncut as “magisterial,” includes “Convincing People”, “Slug Bait”, and “Hamburger Lady” (their first encore in 25/26 years, and what an encore!)
In 2004, Throbbing Gristle, Chris Carter, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (1950-2020) and Peter ‘Sleazy’ Christopherson (1955-2010), regrouped and the following six years became a period of renewed creativity for the band.
It’s clear that TG are not revisiting ground already tread, but bringing two decades of individual experience back into the studio to create a new exploration of sound. The vocals have a different depth, the groove is deeper, and the atmosphere has lost none of its potency.
