Finding Your Own Individual Style

20

www.thegoodsmag.co

november & december 2012

By Kimberly Kimmel Are you a slave to fashion, or a slave to no one? Are you set in the trends, or setting them? If you want to stop flipping through magazines (except this one of course), and going online to see what the latest fashion is before daring to step outside, we have some suggestions to finding and claiming your own individual style. People who set the trends are ultimately the ones who are being true to their authentic selves. From Lady Gaga to Rihanna to Pink, they wear what they think reflects who they are while others copy them. People who are secure in their looks, usually set their own style. Take Miley Cyrus and her new ‘do’. When she first got it done, she tweeted, “I’ve never felt more me in my whole life.” Recently an interviewer asked her how she still liked her hair and she responded, “Isn’t it great?” It takes courage to chop off your hair because you love it short and make your own statement. Here are some of our favorite people and their own unique sense of style: Zoey Deschanel - No matter if bangs are in or out, Deschanel couldn’t care less. She’s been wearing bangs for decades and wouldn’t have it any other way. When interviewed by Allure magazine about her hair, she responded, “I’m bangs and eyes. It’s who I am. There have been periods when I’ve grown my bangs out, but I always cut them back, so it’s like, why go through the trouble?” Known for her quirky style, and long hair, she has been named Pantene’s new celebrity spokesperson. Rihanna - She ranges from a sporty look, to boho, chic. Her hair and clothes both reflect an “I don’t care. I’m doing what I want” attitude. Can you imagine her being a slave to all the current trends? She’d lose her individual coolness. Lady Gaga - she has always had her own unique style. It was how she, “came into my own,” as she stated to one interviewer. No one on the planet is as individual as Gaga. Most of us don’t want to go as far as she does (think the meat dress) in making a statement, but she has the courage to be herself in all she does. Pink - Through the years, she has had her hair as her signature style. She exudes rocker chick. At the MTV Video Music Awards recently, when she and Miley showed up in hairstyles that were similar, Pink said, “Everyone has long, brown hair. I think she rocks it way harder than I do. I think we’re just a little more daring.” In fact, some styles are so bold, they could be labeled narcissistic. Take Nicki Minaj with her pink hair and wild style. Even her latest perfume, Pink Friday comes with a bottle that has a pink wig... well, we all don’t have to go that far but some are fans of her look. You may not be a rocker chick like Pink, or as daring as Gaga. But, it doesn’t take a lot of money to dress to your authentic self. In fact, you’ll probably save money. Finding your own style may take a bit of thought. Stop trying to look like everyone else and start looking like you. Be your own unique, special self. You never know, you could set the next fashion trend.

We have our eye on the celebs this month and what they are wearing, buying, trending, and where they are shopping. Hang on, as we are about to share some of the most fun and coolest, not to mention, most surprising trends yet for fall. Who’s Out and About Yes, we love Rihanna as her choices in clothes are always fun, in, and inspiring. She was seen recently at Tokyo’s Narita International airport where she had on one of the coolest jackets we’ve ever seen. She wore emerald green leather McQ jacket and paired it with her usual jeans and t-shirt ensemble. Her edgy, trendy, yet casual, sporty style always brings a smile to our face. But especially when leather choices are mostly in black and brown, bringing out the emerald green will lit our desire to wear leather in color this fall. Only Rihanna can make the combination of ripped jeans, trendy t-shirt, glam sunglasses and leather look swanky. Diva On A Dime

by Sherry Austin

If you love looking like a Diva without breaking the piggy bank, then this article is for you. The key to being a Diva on a dime is shopping around and knowing how to pair and match different pieces turning them into a glamorous outfit. All Divas should know how to achieve fashionable style on a budget and get the look for less. This style can be labeled as edgy & classy. Any Diva knows that an LBD (Little Black Dress) is a necessary piece for the wardrobe. An LBD can be worn with different accessories and shoes to switch up the look. It can be styled for a casual or elegant affair. This bodycon ponte dress is a steal deal priced at only $13.80. For this particular style the dress is paired with a thin faux suede belt, nicely priced at under $4.00. To make this outfit edgy, a pair of spike studded heels are a must. These peep-toe, two-toned high platform heels compliment the dress and screams DIVA! They also pair well with skinny jeans or a pencil skirt. At $49.99 the quality and price are just right. To add the polishing touches to this edgy look a black & gun metal colored cuff with long chain earrings make for a classy touch. The oversized black envelope clutch creates a great accent, and is a very good option for those Divas who like to carry oversized bags. A complete outfit for under a $100.00, and a beautiful look for any DIVA!

Simple Steps to Wearing Extensions & Keeping Your Natural Hair Healthy

By Pamela Wood Garcia There was a time that wearing hair extensions was taboo. There were songs, jokes, and misconceptions about hair extensions. The misconception was that women who wore extensions were bald underneath their weaves. We all know that wasn’t always true. Not until extensions became more widely accepted and got worn more regularly did we see the long term affects of not maintaining your own hair underneath your weave. Today stylists are seeing more and more cases of permanent hair loss, breakage due to little or no maintenance of one’s natural hair while wearing extensions, and more nasty infections of the scalp that can lead to scaring a possible baldness. Now that wearing a weave is as fashionable as Channel Perfume or Jimmy Choo shoes let’s talk about how you can alleviate some of the stress that it places on your hair and scalp. Here are some simple steps you can follow that will help you to keep your hair and scalp clean, prevent breakage, and prevent permanent hair loss and keep your extensions looking fabulous.

1. Keep your hair and scalp clean while wearing extensions. 7ASHING AND CONDITIONING IS PROBABLY A TOUGH TASK WHILE TRYING TO MAINTAIN THE INTEGRITY OF YOUR NATURAL HAIR AND KEEPING YOUR lVE HUNDRED DOLlars worth of Indian Remy looking good too. Not to worry, tip number one is bubbling with good information. The best way to wash your hair and scalp, while wearing sewn in tracks, is to braid your hair weave prior to washing it. Make it loose at the base OF THE SCALP AND TIGHT AT THE ENDS "E SURE TO SECURE THE BRAIDS WITH HAIR TIES OR RUBBER BANDS 4AKE THE SHAMPOO AND APPLY IT TO YOUR lNGER TIPS as if you’re going to apply a facial cream. Then put the shampoo between your tracks (on your scalp) and onto the braids of your weave base. 5SE YOUR lNGERS TIPS TO SCRUB WITH ALMOST LIKE YOU RE SCRATCHING !DD SHAMPOO TO THE REST OF THE HAIR 4HEN YOU NEED TO LATHER RINSE VERY WELL AND REPEAT !PPLY YOUR CONDITIONER THE SAME EXACT WAY !FTER YOU lNISH YOUR CONDITIONING PROCESS MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR SCALP AND WEAVE BASE completely dry by sitting underneath a hair dryer or by blow drying thoroughly. This will prevent any foul odor. No foul odor means zero bacteria. Zero bacteria mean no nasty infection. 2. Use a leave in conditioner on your natural hair. Preferably a leave in conditioner with a detangler in it. One of the best on today’s market is Biolage’s Normalizing Detangling Solution. It is made up wheat germ and hops, along with other natural botanicals. This product will WORK ON YOUR DO IN A NUMBER OF WAYS 9OU CAN WASH IT OUT OR LEAVE IT IN 7HEN LEFT IN IT WILL KEEP YOUR HAIR MOISTURized and manageable. When rinsed out, it prevents static and tangles, and will keep your extensions from matting after being washed as well as putting a sleek shine on your style. Other products that condition are argon and tea TREE OIL ! FEW DROPS OF ONE OF THESE SUPER SERUMS WILL SOOTH THE SCALP PREVENT BUILD UP AND PROTECT THE INTEGRITY of your strands. 3. Permanent hair loss is a major issue for people who wear extensions. Permanent hair loss related to extensions is usually caused from tension or excessive weight on your hair strands and usually takes place at the hair line. This is because the hair line is the thinnest, weakest area of your hair. What happens is the tension causes the hair to be pulled out from the scalp. Each time a strand is pulled out your follicles shrink, which causes the hair to grow back thinner and weaker. This process is repeated until the follicle eventually collapses. Once it is collapsed your hair won’t grow back, leaving you with permanent hair loss. This is referred to as tension or traction alopeche. The best thing that can be done to prevent this type of breakage is leave the hairline out of your WEAVE 5SE THE HAIR THAT IS LEFT OUT FOR COVERAGE OF TRACKS !SK YOUR STYLIST TO LOOSEN UP ON YOUR BRAIDS AROUND THE EDGES 9OUR WEAVE MAY NOT last as long but your natural hair will last the lifetime it is supposed to last. Tying your weave up with a silk or satin scarf while you sleep helps as well. Sleeping on the hair puts stress on it. Tossing and turning or lying in one spot on loose strands can cause tension and tugging on your strands. This causes more pulling out of your locks at the scalp. Sleeping in a scarf will contain your mane from the base to the ends and prevent the weight of your weave from pulling at your natural hair. Thus, preventing hair loss from the follicle. The goal of most health and beauty regimes is prevention. Follow this regime and you will see a difference within 6 weeks of starting it. These three simple steps won’t prevent hereditary baldness patterns or keep natural thinning from taking place, but they will help you maintain the integrity of your natural hair. Should you ever decide to take the extensions out and rock your natural coif you’ll have that option.

do-it yourself

how to shape your

fab:

eyebrows

By: Mariah Honey

Tired of paying the salon to do it? Think plucking eyebrows is self-torture and unnecessary? Never shaped your eyebrows before? It’s really not that painful or complicated. With a few fab tools and a bit of patience and time you can learn to shape your own eyebrows like a pro!

Eyebrow Fab Tip #1: Choose the Right Tweezers When you are shopping for tweezers look for professional quality 100% stainless steel ones. These are longer lasting and more durable than others, and will not rust when cleaned. Pick up the tweezers and squeeze them together, the prongs should have a gentle spring action, and the tips should meet perfectly when pressed together. The most popular style is the slant tip because you can use the slant side for most tweezing and then turn and use the higher side of the slant for more precision. Point tip tweezers are good for stubble and removing ingrown hairs. Eyebrow Fab Tip #2: Tweeze After Your Shower Warm water opens the follicles and softens hairs, helping them slip out more easily. Eyebrow Fab Tip #3: Ease the Plucking Pain If plucking is too painful or it’s right before your monthly cycle (when skin is most sensitive), dab on a numbing gel like Orajel-Baby Teething Pain Medicine before you tweeze. Eyebrow Fab Tip #4: Ditch Your Magnifying Mirror This tool can make it look like there’s more hair to remove than there really is, which can lead to plucking too much. Instead, use a regular mirror in a well-lit room—if you can’t see stray hairs under these conditions, neither can anyone else. After every few tweezes, take a couple of steps back to see the bigger picture. Eyebrow Fab Tip #5: Know Your Arch Limits Hold a Pencil For Guidance Your brows should begin directly above your tear duct, peak in line with the outer side of your iris, and end at a point that falls 45 degrees from the outer corner of your eye. Be sure not to arch your brows too high or they’ll look unnatural. Eyebrow FabTip #6: Create Your Shape Once you’ve determined how your brows should curve, outline your ideal arch using a soft, creamy brow pencil. Then remove only the hairs that fall above or below your self-made stencil.

Holiday Party - 10 Tips on What to Wear by Rachel Jensen of Da Paura Blog: www.capturingitaly.blogspot.com

Dress up leather pants

Let’s face it, we live in California. Casual is acceptable more often than not on most occasions! However, it truly is better to be “over-dressed” than “under-dressed.” I like to make the perfect compromise by wearing heels with skinny pants... and since leather one of the key trends this season, try wearing heels with leather skinnies.

A touch of sparkle

I may be the only girl in the world who does not have an obsession with sequined dresses, but I would agree that a little sparkle is important this time of year! Adding a little dazzle with your jewelry can be just the right touch of “bling” needed for a bit of shine.

Blue

I’m one of those holiday fanatics that like to take decor to an extra unique level. I love decorating my tree with beautiful blues rather than simply the traditional red and green. Why not apply this to style? Bright blues done right are striking enough to turn every head at the party.

Black and White

It’s true what they say: “you really can’t go wrong with black and white” (Done right, that is). Mix in some classic gold jewelry, a high bun, and a little clutch and you will be the definition of “chic.”

A skirt with volume

For some reason when I think of a holiday dress or party dress, I think of a full or “poofy” skirt. This can be either one entire dress, or just the skirt itself --- the point is a flirty little touch of extra dimension to the outfit. Although it’s a standard style, I always feel like I stand out with a little ruffle, pleats, or extra layers to my bottom half. Be sure to keep the top half very fitted and let that skirt have all the attention!

With San Diego temperatures dropping lately, it truly is beginning to feel like that festive time of the year. What does that mean? Family gatherings, shopping, and holiday parties! I don’t know about you, but I seem to draw a blank every time I’m invited to a holiday party, especially if the invite is last minute. This season however, I plan to be prepared... and I’d love to share with you some of my ideas.

Try a new hair style

The holiday season is all about glamour! Try something a little different with your hair. Spend a little extra time getting dolled up. If there’s any occasion to experiment, it’s now! For a little vintage glam pizazz, try a beehive or sock bun.

Black Lace

There’s something about the Victorian Era that fits so perfectly into the winter season. I’m especially drawn to black lace during the holidays, and I can’t think of a more perfect material for a holiday party. Personally, I like to keep it short and sweet to keep this look young and add a bit of “spice.”

Drama

84

www.thegoodsmag.co

november & december 2012

Whether it’s red lips, smokey eyes, or a dramatic statement necklace, bring a little drama to the party. Not only will it add a striking element to a simple outfit, but as I said before - this is what winter and holidays are all about. Summer is about natural and simple, but winter is the time to bring out our inner dose of “fierce.”

Pop of Leopard Print

There are so many ways that a bit of leopard can be safely added to an outfit. This will give your look interest, a chic vibe, and a subtle surprise. Just be sure to keep your leopard to a “pop” and not an “animal take-over.”

Ivory

While winter whites can work, it is much more difficult to keep within the holiday theme and not look a bit... out of place. Ivory is a nice compromise. There is something soft and feminine about off-white. Add black or grey accessories and a touch of gold.”

holiday fitness &health

by Fernando Sampson

It’s that time of year again, crisp air, shorter evenings (which I loathe) and big family dinners. Food, oh glorious food, turkey legs, stuffing and gravy drenched everything. Yes it’s Holiday season and although there are highlights such as football, family and good eats, there is also the almost certain possibility of gaining some holiday LB’s. It’s easy to get caught up in the season by eating till we plop down on the couch to yell at our favorite football teams and players. The combination of all this eating, and most gyms being closed on holidays, present a small problem. So how do we keep from packing on the extra holiday pounds? Well here are some helpful tips to turning your kitchen into your holiday fitness center. Turkey is a must, so you’ve got to take your time and do it right. Turkey weight will determine your cook time and now it will determine your workout time. Turkey Cooking Time Required (with stuffing) 6 to 8 Pounds 2 ½ to 3 ½ Hours 8 to 12 Pounds 3 to 3 ½ Hours 12 to 14 Pounds 3 ½ to 4 Hours

14 to 18 Pounds 4 to 4 ¼ Hours 18 to 20 Pounds 4 ¼ to 4 ¾ Hours 20 to 24 Pounds 4 ¾ to 5 ¼ Hours

It’s recommended that you baste your turkey every 30-45 min, so let’s start the workout there. This workout will require two heavy duty potholders, gym shoes, and the ability to laugh at yourself or be laughed at by your family. Every time you take your bird out for basting, use it as if you were using a medicine ball and do 2-3 sets of squats with it. Yes I get it, this is quirky, kind of silly and I hope you close your window blinds before you began. But once you really get into this workout, you will notice the difficulty as the day goes on. You will get a great full body workout and if you’re hardcore your turkey will be a big boy (20-24lbs) but if you haven’t been to the gym in a while or just strangely eating alone with a little guy (6-8lbs), I recommend you baste more often (and get some friends). So you’re done basting your turkey for the time being and your hands are free. While waiting around in the kitchen for things to cook do 3-4 sets of dips on your counter. With your back to your kitchen counter, place your palms down on the counter and lay your feet out at a 45 degree angle. Then dip down as far as you can, putting the pressure on your triceps and back, simple, yet effective. There are plenty of ways to stay in shape during the holidays and here are a few more. So if you had the privilege of going to college you know about drinking games. One of my favorite drinking games (with apple juice of course) was drinking every time something was said in a song, i.e. drinking every time “Roxanne” or “Red light” was said in the 1978 Police hit “Roxanne.” There wasn’t a sober soul in sight after that song. Well let’s play a similar game (minus the alcohol) with football. Whenever your team scores, do 25-35 push-ups. Or even better whenever your favorite player catches a pass or gets a tackle, do push-ups. Same thing goes for bicycle crunches or regular crunches, do 20 or so when your team scores, or when your team creates a turnover. Challenge yourself and your family members, I’m sure you will all get a good kick out of it and a little sweat. As you can see this game/workout can be tweaked however you like, but try and make it challenging. The last holiday workout I recommend would be simply making mashed potatoes. Leave your egg beaters and electronic mixers in the cabinet this year and use that arm strength. Boil your potatoes until they are almost ready to be mashed, then mash and whisk them by hand. Do 3-4 sets of vigorous whisking with each arm until your spuds are so silky smooth with not a lump in the bowl. I actually did this last year and believe me it is a real workout.

There are plenty of other obvious workouts such as running around your neighborhood while you wait on your different dishes, jumping rope simulations while your bird cooks, and wall sits while you watch the game. But the holiday workout should be a bit more unique, if nothing else but to make it fun. So enjoy your time with loved ones, enjoy your home holiday workout and overall give THANKS for your family, friends and Blessings.

Here are 5 healthy holiday foods! Sweet Potatoes- Rich in Vitamin A, one Sweet Potato contains almost 8 times the daily recommended dose of Vitamin A. Also high in Calcium, Iron and Vitamin E. (Clinically proven to help maintain proper eye health) Pumpkins- Proven to also aid with eye health, reduce cancer risks and aid in weight loss. Roasted seeds help out your heart by reducing LDL or bad cholesterol. Leftover Turkey- Turkey sandwich with pesto sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and avocado (use your leftover Turkey right) this is a healthy alternative to using all that left over turkey or ham. Cranberries- Cranberries have vitamin C, fiber and are only 45 calories a cup, and only Blueberries are better when it comes to antioxidants. Make your own cranberry sauce from fresh cranberries, (My mom does a great job with this). Green Beans- Fresh green beans are low in calories and contain no saturated fat. Also rich in Vitamin A and contain good amounts of fiber.

november & december 2012

Say you do this circuit of football push-ups, crunches, Turkey squats, counter dips and potato whisking throughout your holiday season and I promise you’ll be happy you did. The key is to not fall off the wagon during the holidays and this circuit will help certainly help you do that.

Rekindle, Rejoice and Resolve — How to Navigate the Holiday Season with Ease

november & december 2012

by Karen Devereaux As tranquil autumn days transform into majestic winter nights, times of good cheer, feasting and celebratory festivities are fast approaching. Soon we will gather with our loved ones to break bread and exchange gifts, as we create memories that will last a life time. And while we cherish these moments and await for them with bated breath, the truth of the matter is that the holidays can be a very stressful time of the year. The shopping for gifts, décor and all the trimmings is never-ending, the guest lists continue to grow with last minute attendees and for those traveling there are the frequent unexpected delays due to inclement weather. Couple this with a full work schedule and maintaining the home front and you have a recipe for disaster that resurfaces year after year! Unless you’re Martha Stewart, organizing three consecutive holidays without a plan of action is never a good thing. Fortunately there are a few simple rules of thumb to help you navigate this and every holiday season with ease. STEP 1: PLAN AHEAD — As you gather décor for a spooky and frightful Halloween and purchasing treats for the little ghouls and goblins, begin to envision your perfect holiday. What are you wearing? What are you serving? Who are your guests? How much additional time away from work will you need if you’re traveling? Who will you need to purchase gifts for? By October 1st (and definitely no later than October 15th) you’ll wait to begin transitioning to a holiday frame of mind. While some may believe starting this early is a bit premature, think about the last time you had to make a mad dash to the store only to be caught in never-ending traffic, empty shelves or lines that went on forever and a day? It’s never too early to begin planning, so the sooner you begin to shift gears the better. STEP 2: MAKE A LIST AND CHECK IT TWICE — Now that you have a theme, a premise or at least an inkling of an idea, the next step is to begin documenting what you will need to give Martha a run for her money. This can manifest in a Word document, index cards, individual notebooks, etc. The method of documentation is insignificant; however a list of must haves and things to avoid is critical. Documenting your vision in black and white allows your goals to become more realistic and attainable. And as you check off each item of completion, you will begin to feel a sense of accomplishment. Every check or line drawn through brings you one step of closer to a stress-free holiday season, so implement Step 1 and you will be well on your way.

STEP 3: EXECUTION — Now that you have made your list of deliverables and have checked it twice, it’s now time to develop and execute a plan of attack. The best way to achieve this is through implementing deadlines. In fact, make it a personal challenge. For some, this phase may need to happen weekly, but if you’re OCD like I am, you may want to develop this plan daily. Is it challenging to map out your life months in advance? Absolutely! However what you can do is keep yourself organized using a calendar and allow yourself some flexibility in achieving each task. For example, instead of committing to purchasing the Thanksgiving turkey by November 22nd, you may want to commit to buying your fowl the week prior, just to avoid any last minute snafus. Unless you want your guests to nibble on hot dogs and potato chips served on your best china, its best to set deadlines and do your best to stick to them. Otherwise your guests will truly have a holiday to remember. STEP 4: ENJOY — If you have followed the steps above, this holiday season should be much more enjoyable than holidays past. The goal is to plan ahead and stay on task. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it, and address any issues immediately. Also, prepare a backup plan, just in case things do not go off without a hitch (remember that frozen or burned turkey you wish you could forget?) A few extra stocking stuffers make a great last minute gift (e.g. gift cards, scented candles, etc.) and don’t forget to think outside the box. A delicious cauldron of soup and a French baguette is just as great as a bottle of wine, and a personalized gift will be remembered more because it came from the heart. Before you know it, the holidays will have come and gone and you’ll soon be screaming Happy New Years! End your 2012 with a bang and begin your 2013 with a blast. Remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, so take the time to plan accordingly. And just think, with all the new-found free time you’ve uncovered, perhaps you can finally tackle that list of New Year’s resolutions that miraculously seem to carry over year after year? Then again…we may need to discuss that next time? In the interim, happy holidays!

I myself have already been on the lookout trying to find something to wear with plenty of time to spare for the 2012 – 2013 New Years Parties. I have seen some great finds so far and am pretty excited to see what I come up with for this years Holiday Party Season.

www.thegoodsmag.co

This Holiday season we will be seeing something a little different as we will start to see more metallic, neutral colors, earth tones, sequin and less of the typical and traditional holiday colors associated with this time of year like the reds and greens. Which is refreshing for me because this only means one thing. We will be able to get more creative and stylish while having a wider variety of things to pick from that will be appropriate, fashionable and Holiday Season approved.

•

With the Holiday Season right around the corner it is a perfect time to get the Goods on some great holiday party looks. There are so many festivities toward the end of the year to choose from and your probably wondering how to be stylish and classy for the multiple parties and gatherings that come with this time of year at a fraction of the price without compromising your style or this seasons fashion trends.

Tis’ The Season To Breakup by AJ Walden So it’s that time of the year again where everyone is all fuzzy and warm inside. You’re excited about seeing family members you haven’t seen all year or if you’re like me, you’re dreading hearing your drunken uncles stories over and over again. However, there is one big problem: you are in a relationship. That sucks! Yes, it does. You’ve been dealing with this loser all year and neither of you want to be the one to let go. Why? Well, for starters they say it’s bad to breakup with someone during the holidays. Who made that rule up anyway? Listen, it’s going to sting whether you do it July 1st or November 22. Just get it out the way. I mean do you really want to sit and hear her family ask you about marriage when you know you’re looking for the nearest exit? Do you want his mother asking you when you are having her grandbaby for the hundredth time? Why stay with someone you aren’t happy with just for the sake of the holidays? Do you think it will make the breakup easier?

www.thegoodsmag.co

If you’re reading this and this is your story, I feel your pain but love don’t live there anymore. Skip all the awkwardness and just free yourself. After all Tis’ The Season To Breakup.

Never string someone along for the sake of holidays despite what people say. It’s better you both are able to heal around family and friends without the what if’s hanging over your head. Not to mention there is nothing like starting your New Year off free of the dead weight of a relationship that isn’t going anywhere.

november & december 2012

Listen, it’s never easy to break up with someone but why lie to yourself and that person just for the sake of some cliché. How do you break up with someone around the holidays? The same as you do it any other day. Just let them know this isn’t working. Don’t be rude with your delivery and don’t rehash the past because that is pointless and I’m sure it was done a million times and it still didn’t fix anything.

December Movie Preview by Russell Davis Playing for Keeps is a romantic comedy starring Gerald Butler, Jessica Biel, Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta – Jones, and Dennis Quaid. Gerald plays a retired athlete who decides to coach his son’s soccer team. It is a shock to everyone that someone of his caliber has lowered himself to be a little league coach. He is going through a mild case of depression but it soon fades away when he learns that one of the soccer moms is the girl that got away. He now finds himself trying to win her love back while trying to show his son and others that he isn’t a selfish brat. The movie has its funny moments and the overall quality of the film is worth one date night. The movie opens December 7th, 2012.

Many fans have been anticipating another Lord of the Rings movie for quite some time. Finally Peter Jackson brings us The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, based on the book by J.R. Tolkien. This is part one of a three part trilogy telling the story of Bilbo Baggins and his many adventures. Very little is known about the plot but we do know Gandalf enlists Bilbo to lead 13 dwarves to the Lonely Mountain and regain its treasures from the Dragon Smaug. Also some of our favorite characters are returning. Gandalf will be played by Ian Mckellen, Andy Serkis as Gollum, Elijah Wood as Frodo, and many others. The film will follow much of the same style from the original Lord of the Rings with the imagination of Guillermo Del Toro. The film should be an adventure for the eyes. The film opens December 14th, 2012.

The Guilt Trip is an unusual comedy about a son and mother going on their first road trip. Seth Rogen plays an inventor who reluctantly takes his mother, played by Barbara Streisand, on a road trip to sell his new invention. Along the way they encounter strange people, uncomfortable situations, and a bond that can never be broken. The film is a fun watch and Seth and Barbara have great chemistry. It’s definitely a must see. The film opens December 19th, 2012.

Tom Cruise returns to the action genre once again as an anti hero. A city is thrown into hell when five people were shot dead. The police think that they got the wrong guy and sends Jack Reacher to clean up their mess. However, Jack thinks he’s full of crap and wants to prove to the police that they got the right guy. The situation becomes even more chaotic once Jack learns that there are more people involved. The film is a throw-back to old school movies like Walking Tall. It tells a decent story with a lot of adrenaline to push out of its veins. The movie opens December 21st, 2012.

This is a western film written and directed Quentin Tarantino. It tells the bloody story of a slave, played by Jamie Foxx, living in the Deep South without the woman he loves the most. She was sold to a ruthless plantation owner played by Leonard DiCaprio. A bounty hunter frees him in exchange if he helps hunt down the Brittle Brothers. He is the only one that has seen them and knows where to find them. He will also help Django free his wife as well from her owner. The film is a must see. Everyone played their roles well and it was nice seeing Leonard as a villain for once. The movie may be too violent for some but that never stop any of you from seeing a Tarantino film. The opens December 25st, 2012

november & december 2012

Les Miserables is a musical based on a novel by Victor Hugo. The musical was able to attract some A list celebrities named Russell Crowe, Anna Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sacha Baron Cohen. The story follows a former prisoner who becomes mayor of a town in France. He agrees to take care of a little girl while trying to avoid capture from a police inspector who thinks he’s up to no good. This leads both men down a path that will change both their lives forever. If the movie is anything like the musical then you should be in for a real treat. The film looks beautiful and the singing didn’t sound too shabby. Musicals are a give and take but I think this one will hit the mark. The film opens on Christmas day.

Rounding out the holiday schedule is a family film called Parental Guidance. It stars Billy Crystal, Marisa Tomei, and Bette Midler. After his daughter has no choice but to leave for work she dumps her children on her grandparents while she’s away. At first they try today’s way of parenting but soon learns that it’s ineffective. This leaves them two options; they can either let them run amok or take it old school. You can guess what they chose. The film is a fun ride and something the family can enjoy together. It opens on Christmas day as well and may be a good gift for the entire family.

Music Spotlight:

By Solomon Osayande Jr.

Radio personality, entrepreneur, Super DJ, and staple in the San Diego community are just a few of the hats that Bille Knight aka ‘Mr. Key to the City’ has worn while ascending to the top of San Diego’s entertainment throne. As one of San Diego’s hottest DJ’s for the better part of two decades, DJ Bille Knight has been across the globe and back again, playing at countless venues in a list of cities and countries that would impress your average travel agent. Opening for some of today’s hottest acts and some of hip-hop music’s brightest stars, a list which includes Black Eyed Peas, Nas, the Wu-Tang Clan, TI, DJ Quik, and Busta Rhymes, Bille Knight has shared the stage with music royalty…multiple times. DJ Bille has performed at a list of venues that reads like a phone book; however it isn’t what he has done in the past that is impressing his peers, it is what he plans to do to help secure San Diego’s hip-hop future that has earned the music community’s respect. DJ Bille Knight is approaching his status as one of San Diego’s ‘go-to’ entertainers humbly with a pay it forward mentality. Bille Knight intends on placing San Diego’s hip-hop scene on his back and has set the wheels in motion via his artist development company which will assist these up and coming entertainers throughout San Diego and fill a giant void in the hip-hop community. With how much this entertainer has contributed to San Diego, Mayor Jerry Sanders may actually throw him the key to the city one day. One on One with DJ Bille Knight: BK:GOODS ShoutMagazine: out all the artists San The Let’s startin with the basics, how did you get your Tupac or new Biggie came out we were playing it, it was more like tribe called quest, de la soul…a lot of hip-hop music, we built up a large start being a DJ? following. We do it once a month now out at El Camino in Little Italy, it’s a place where I can go and play music where I love. I also play at a DJ BILLE KNIGHT: The barter system… place called the Sand Bar in Mission Beach, is real casual and people are just partying and that place has a real cool vibe. TGM: How long have you been out in San Diego? BK: I’ve been out here pretty much my whole life, moved out here when TGM: Where is the craziest place that you have spun at? I was 10 years old from Venice beach. BK: The craziest place that I have spun at had to be the Dominican TGM: I see your twitter says “Mr Key to the city”. When did the mayor Republic. throw you the key? (haha) TGM: Ummmm, What was so crazy about it? BK: It’s kind of a key that I have been able to establish myself through knowing people, making contacts…shaking hands and kissing babies, BK: Well if you know anything about the Dominican Republic… let’s doing a lot of stuff for the community, educating on the DJ game… just say if you have ever been there, you’d know. even though the keys were not officially given to me, in a way I still TGM: What’s your favorite genre to spin? have them. TGM: I see that you’re a Redbull DJ, and a Bumsquad DJ, can you tell BK: 90’s hip-hop, acid jazz, neo soul. me more about that? TGM: Who are some of your favorite DJ’s? BK: I had a friend that was a representative for Redbull, they were putting on an event at Qualcomm Stadium for Super Cross and asked if I BK: Cash money from Philadelphia, DJ Premier, Kid Cupri always put could come DJ at their booth, ever since that I’ve been involved in a lot on a good show. of Redbull events going on throughout the community. TGM: I see that you also manage talent; tell me a little about the artist I’ve been with Bumsquad since the beginning, were now over 500 DJ’s and DJ that you manage? deep nationwide. It’s a good way to reach out to other DJ’s and get feedback from them…when I go to one of their cities I can get a gig BK: Robb Grimes is an artist that I started working with, he used to hit and vice versa. It has also opened some doors for me and allowed me me up all the time, didn’t really give him the time of the day at first, but one day when I headed up to LA for a music conference, they had some to meet people that I would not have normally been able to meet. performances and Rob Grimes happened to be there, I saw the talent and ever since that day on we’ve just been working together, he moved TGM: What are some of your favorite places to spin? to Atlanta to work with Bangladesh for like 3 months, now Bangladesh BK: I did a club out here for 5 years called the BK lounge, if the new is overseeing his whole project.

DJ Bille Knight artists don’t know or aren’t even aware of. Artists have got to know the business so they can take the rights steps by talking to the people that they’re supposed to talk to and making the kind of music that they are supposed to be making. I am going to help artists bridge that gap. There are probably more opportunities for me in other cities but there is a void to be filled in San Diego and I can at least open some doors for TGM: Where can people go to stay up-to-date on what’s happening with the next DJ that comes after me. Bille Knight? TGM: Any shout outs that you would like to give? BK: My twitter page (@djbilleknight), facebook (facebook.com/deejay. BK: Shout out all the artists in San Diego, the company 1umbrella, Rob knight.3), and my website is currently under construction. Grimes and the whole family. TGM: What’s next for Bille Knight? TGM: Any advice for up and comers? BK: I’m starting an artist search once a month; it will take place every Tuesday. I’m going to set up a youstream where artists can get some BK: Respect the other DJ’s that have been there, don’t undercut the vetconstructive criticism…I’m going to be on them tough, be prepared to erans…we worked hard to get where we are. Stay humble in whatever you do, if you stay humble doors will open for you, try and stay cool with get some realness. everyone and things will work out for you. I’m also starting an artist development and management company called 1Umbrella, I feel that there is a void in San Diego for artists…I feel that is why an artist hasn’t made it from here, the music business has more to it than just music, there is a business aspect that most With Wendy Cakes, she started out as an intern at the radio station, I started managing her and told her if you’re serious, you will buy the equipment, she put in a lot of work. I got her a residency at the Mandalay bay at the pool every Sunday and she dj’s in the club every night on Fridays and Saturdays, she is actually out in Tokyo right now.

julia bond

by Alejandrina Aragon Some of you may already know her as Julia Bond, adult entertainer. However that will all be in the past soon enough now, this amazing talent is transitioning from being X Rated to Extra Creative. Yes, the Julia Bond that most have grown to know and love as an adult entertainer is looking to leave the adult film industry and focus on her true passion, music. Julia is 25 years old, from Long Beach, CA and currently resides in local San Diego, CA. Julia started in the adult entertainment industry at 18 years of age. She admits that it was a decision that was made in haste without having been fully processed and one that she would never recommend. Julia quickly realized she had fallen in love with the attention aspect and lime light of the industry for having established a large fan base rather quickly. She never anticipated being a part of the adult industry growing up although she did want to be in the entertainment business. Music, poetry and song writing is where Julia’s true passion was growing up and the adult entertainment portion of her career was just something she fell into. She always had a strong creative and emotional connection to music as a way to Julia for expressing herself and escaping from reality, even if it was for a short moment. Julia started focusing more on her musical creativity about 2 years ago and has been really paving her pathway to success in the music industry for the last year. Having lost a good friend a year ago, Julia admits she took some time off to deal with the loss and is now ready to move forward with her career transformation with more drive and determination. Julia started sharing herself creatively with the social media world 3 years ago when she displayed a different side of herself through her YouTube channel @ www.youtube.com/IAmJuliaBond where we can all get to know and love the real Julia Bond. The one she wants to be remembered by, Julia Bond the talented and creative music artist. Julia Bond writes all of her own music and shares that she is greatly influenced by life experiences, both good and bad. She admits that she uses the energy from those situations as her motivation in writing some of her best lyrics and as a regular writing tactic of hers. I asked about her writing process and she explained that her personal process is actually very choppy. Julia has a tendency to jot down lyrics and goes back and forth, piecing everything together until she is happy with the final outcome. There is an essential object that she can’t live

without for her writing is her Galaxy phone, although Julia does admit she prefers a Blackberry to a touch screen phone, due to the auto correct function that she is not very fond of on most touch screen phones. I asked Julia what she wants to be known for and remembered by in the entertainment industry. She elaborated on that by explaining that her main goal is to make a statement, to let people know that regardless of what you have done or what may be included in your past, with persistence and strength, you can achieve your hopes and dreams. Something that Julia shared on a more personal note was that having a history in the adult industry, people tends to judge and assume that it is all she is capable of. Julia wants everyone to know and understand that she is a real person, just as real as you or I, and not only is she capable of more but she is truly a talented and creative individual who wants to share her natural talent with the world in a positive and fulfilling way. Julia Bond insists on being a versatile artist, therefore it would be hard to categorize her music into a specific genre. She dabbles into a variety of styles from club music to hip hop as well as performing emotional tracks. Her favorite music artists in the industry nowadays are Eminem and D12, whom she is also influenced by and admits she loves Eminem’s lyrics and D12’s raunchy style. The emotional artists that she relates to include Mariah Carey and Adele, which tend to both be chiller, although Adele isn’t exactly chill however is a great vocalist. When asked who she currently relates herself to in the industry, she mentioned Nicki Minaj documentary in which she can relate to the aspect that Nicki Minaj made it and remains humble with her family, friends, loved ones and fans. She admits Nicki has a reputation for being eccentric but Julia relates to that and respects the fact that Nicki Minaj has a past as well and worked for what she wanted by being creative and pursuing her musical goals. I asked Miss Bond what we can expect from her in the near future and she did mention that she is currently preparing to audition Nov 18th 2012 to open for Soldier Boys December 10th 2012 Japan Tour. She is also in the process of recording a CD of her own and we should expect to see that by the end of the year, which will be 100% all her. At the moment Julia Bond is a free agent due to the fact that she is currently trying to make moves for herself, and explore both her tal-

ent as well as her opportunities in the industry. She also said that the choice to be a free agent is to preserve being herself and admits that she wants to be the one in control when it comes to her music career. Like I mentioned before, Julia is most known and popularized by her affiliation with the adult industry however there is so much more to know about her. Something that Julia Bond wants people to know is that she is a real person, just like you and I. Julia admits that when most people see her, they immediately judge her; a common reaction that she is used to, in which people look at her as if she is from another planet. She shared that she is just a normal person that struggles and has her good and bad days. Julia is a single mom and has her daughter who comes first and foremost in her life and is with her 24/7. Her daughter is her biggest inspiration to succeeding in everything she does. Julia Bond did say that although music is her passion, she always has and will make time for her daughter as that is her number 1 priority. Julia Bond doesn’t define who Julia really is, there is much more to her than what people know of her from the adult industry, and that aspect fuels her desire to have this musical transformation to assist in defining herself accurately. Julia admits that she is slightly addicted to tattoos and when asked how many she has, she always replies “a lot”. Julia has simply lost count as her numerous tattoos have turned into one big tattoo. I did ask her what her tattoos where representative of and she admitted that pretty much everything she has is of things she is fond of, and a form of self-expression. Her personal style is very versatile as well, she mentioned that she dresses according to mood and can be caught sporting a variation of different styles including chucks and a wife beater to her style during the interview wearing red Mary Jane heels, with ripped skinny jeans and an adorable cheetah print cardigan. Another point that Julia wanted to make was not to be intimated by her. She is extremely easy to get along with as well as being friendly and outgoing. She welcomes people to say hello to her if they notice her walking by as it does not bother her, she only asks that fans respect when she has her daughter and not ask her anything inappropriate. Just proceed with respect and Julia does the same. The message that Julia wants to send out is to be you, be expressive and creative with the gifts we have been blessed with. She

wants to make the statement clear that you can get through anything. There are people out there who will always try and knock you down because they just don’t want to see others succeed and Julia’s advice when it comes to that is to let those situations fuel your aspirations not damper them. Julia wants to set a good example and prove that she is capable of more and says her struggles are also her inspiration aside from her daughter who she wants to set the example of being a strong confident person. Julia does have prior musical affiliation as a child in a musically inclined family. Having several family members that write music including cousins, she would write music and poetry for them at the young age of 11. Her musical affiliation was more on the writing side; however Julia would like to learn how to play the piano or guitar. Lastly, and I believe most importantly, Julia shared with me that her only regret is having involved herself with the adult entertainment industry. She said she hates to put it so bluntly but the fact that she has a past in the industry does not by any means make her a Whore. She is judged on that fact more that she would like and said she is actually very discreet and shy in her personal life which is why she regrets that portion of her past. She would not recommend it to anyone and is looking forward to overcoming it. Her advice to young women who consider the adult entertainment industry is don’t do it. The industry is full of so many more cons than pros. Once you do that, it is out there for good. People will be quick to categorize you and that usually isn’t a part of the immediate thought process when considering it. Pursue your dreams by being creative and using the natural talents you were blessed with and don’t ever give up. ARTIST

BDUBB

q+a By Brittany Menefield The G.O.O.D.S. Magazine caught up with local artist BDubb on the set of his video shoot “Shooters” to get to know more about this rising artist and entrepreneur.

G.O.O.D.S. - Why pick “Shooters” for the lead video off your first project? BDubb - This actually is the second half of the first video for my project Muscle & Flow. The first half is the track “My Time,” which lets listeners now that I’ve chosen to drop my project now because all the pieces are in place for me to succeed across the board and not just making music. I chose “shooters” to go with “My Time” because I wanted to give my fans a glimpse into the street life I came from and what influences how I move today.

G.O.O.D.S. - You mentioned the street life that you came from, where are you from? BDubb - I’m from Brooklyn, New York, Brownsville specifically. G.O.O.D.S. - What brings you to San Diego? BDubb - I’m in the Marine Corps I’m currently stationed out here. GOODS - Thank you for your service for our country. So is music a hobby for you or what you are planning on doing after your career in the Marine Corps? BDubb – Music is definitely not a hobby. I have been writing music and rapping on and off since I was 15, it is and always has been my passion. When I retire from the Marine Corps, I plan on continuing to pursue this musical career, so not just as an artist but as businessman as well. G.O.O.D.S. - What areas of business in the music industry to you intended to pursue? BDubb - I currently have three companies and I plan on aggressively expanding them once I retire from the Marine Corps: my own recording studio, Dawg Tag Productions; I am a partner in my record label, Fix Your Face of Entertainment; and a media, management and marketing company, Regal Media and Productions. I also plan on pursuing other opportunities in nightlife production, motivational speaking, and communications. G.O.O.D.S. - It sounds like you are making sure to get your hands into multiple things. Does that take a lot of time away from your music? BDubb - Not at all, I am smart and I want to make sure that the moves that I make in business benefit my music career by either expanding my network or lowering my cost as an artist. I have my own studio so I don’t pay anyone to record. I have my own marketing company so I don’t have to pay someone to do it for me. Keeping my expenses in house allows me to do more and at a faster pace. Besides that, nothing can take my time away from my music because my music is a reflection of my life.

photography by shAwtz Photography for Regal Media

G.O.O.D.S. - What sets you apart as a music artist? BDubb - I didn’t just go from the streets to the studio. I have lived in other countries, been at war, and experienced the normal highs and lows of life. I bring all of that to my music so that it constantly is coming from a different perspective and message so no audience feels left out. I made sure Muscle & Flow Vol. 1 shows all of me and my background in a variety of different styles but with the same gentleman and gangsta swag. G.O.O.D.S. - You mentioned Muscle & Flow Vol. 1, is this your latest project? BDubb – It’s my first project actually, called Muscle & Flow Vol. 1: Get Your Weight Up. The majority of it was produced at my studio, Dawg Tag Productions, by my producer Jay and all of the material is written by me. G.O.O.D.S. - When can people expect it out and what can they expect on it? BDubb - It will be out mid to late November 2012 and like I said they can expect a bunch of different styles with a lot of hard hitting punch lines and a charismatic delivery. G.O.O.D.S - Before we wrap up you mentioned your swag as a cross between a gentleman and a gangsta, how does that reflect in your wardrobe? BDubb - I stay clean, fresh, and put together. When you see me I might be in a t-shirt and shades or a sweater and some Gucci Loafers but above all else you know that I am a boss, that I have no reason to doubt what I bring to the table, and that I’m strong physically. I like to show off my arms and chest because it’s apart of the Go Time and HardBody brand that markets me as an artist. G.O.O.D.S. - Finally, what would you say The Goods on You are? BDubb - I’m not just a trend I’m iconic. Any person who has ever really talked to me or experienced my music remembers who I am and has respect for the fact that everything I’m doing. All of my music is real, genuine, and represents my life in Brooklyn, the military, and here in California. I’m not just rapping to be heard, I came into the industry to make an imprint as a real music artist and in business.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - I would like to give everyone the Goods on a local San Diego rapper / producer that’s hitting the SD music scene hard right now: Linnell West better know as West West in the music industry. West is a 22 year old San Diego born and raised artist from Rush Money Productions. When asked how his artist name came about, West West explained that since his last name is West and he is from the West Coast throwing the extra West on it would complete his artist name, while giving it real meaning that is truly representative of himself and his upbringing as an artist. As a part of Rush Money Productions, West West pulls his weight with dope beats and hard-hitting lyrics. He explained that Rush Money Productions has both rappers and producers that engineer and make beats so it’s a one-stop shop to musical success as a camp effort. When West West joined Rush Money Productions in January of 2009, they were already in operation for 4 years. West West mentioned that his musical style varies and includes a variety of genres from Rap, Hip hop, Party Music, Slow jams, love ballads and more. The main focus of their music is to cover all the bases of what fans want to hear and to appeal to a variety of listeners. As a child West West admits listening to 2pac until the age of 16 at which point he gravitated more toward Mac Dre’s musical styling who ended up being his favorite artist from that point on. West West appealed to Mac Dre’s style due to the fact that Mac Dre was real with his music and spoke the truth and West West grew up to love and respect that style. He also mentioned that his attraction to pursuing music came early on as he was greatly influenced by it. It was his escape from the real world, when things got hectic, he found himself turning to music as his outlet. Performing comes easy to West West and he shared that his first major show was opening for New Boys at San Diego based Decos Night Club. He has also opened for GS boys, YG, Jason Derulo, Marcus Houston, E40, Love Rants and Mario. His most recent show was at Belo Night Club on Saturday November 10th, which was on hit and next Saturday November 17th at Belo, West West and Rush Money Productions will be opening for Pusha T. More performances we can look forward to include Rush Money Productions opening for Gucci Mane and Kid Inc. at Belo and 4th and B. West West describes his music as being active, fun and Giggin. He admits himself and Rush Money Productions is all about starting a movement where fans can enjoy the music and just have a good time. When I asked West West what fans can expect at his shows, he said expect for it to be turnt up because Rush Money Productions out there to have a good time with the fans. Expect to see a lot of people dancing and having a good time. West West and Rush Money Productions also have several bangin music videos on his YouTube channel @ http://www.youtube.com/ lwest619. He is currently on his 7th video and his first was a video called We Can Roll, which was shot, on location in Las Vegas. His second video shoot was for 16 Oz of Party and 3rd Turnt Up both shot in San Diego. Loud, which was another recent video shot by Page Williams of Sacramento was his 4th. More recent video shoots include How We Do It, shot with Kali Oso, which he admits to doing a lot of video collaborations with. We can also look forward to his new video

West West shared in upcoming months we can expect for him to continue hitting the SD music scene harder than ever as well at internationally. He has several shows coming up along with more video shoots and will be dropping an album in the next few weeks called Runs in the Fam that he collaborated with his cousin JM on which is basically a compilation movement that they have been working on, putting in a lot of time, effort and finances into which is sure to be a hit. This album will include 15 all original tracks, as West West admits not being fond of using mix tape beats. This album will be available on http://www.datpiff.com , http://www.reverbnation.com and he is in the process of getting the album put on http:// coast2coastmixtapes.com and http://www.apple.com/itunes. West West did mention to stay posted on his Facebook fan page and fallow him on twitter for the official info and if anyone is in need of his CD simply hit him up. I asked West West what he considers his biggest break and or opportunity thus far in the industry and he elaborated that working with a variety of different and talented artists is definitely an upside. He recently got a chance to work with another popularized local artist by the name of Beta Bossalini, which was a great opportunity he admits. He also mentioned that his main promoter here in San Diego, Albert Calderon has been doing a great deal to get his music out there by connecting the dots in the industry and setting him up with shows opening for big name artists, which he admits is a big break because of the high level of exposure. I asked for West West his opinion on what distinguishes an artist from a musician and he explained that he feels a musician is someone who makes a certain kind of music for a certain audience appeal and an artist is more versatile wanting to gain the appeal of versatility of the audience. West West classifies himself as an artist as opposed to a musician for this reason. His musical goal is to get out there with a variety of musical options for people enjoy even if it means stepping out of his comfort zone to show his level of versatility. West West shared that his biggest musical inspiration other than his favorite artist the late Mac. Dre, is one of his best friends, Pat Shawn from Chicago due to his style of rapping. He admits he has never really heard anyone rap like that before and it really gave him the urge, drive and determination to feel like he could make it in the industry as well. West West takes that inspiration to the next level by maintaining his creative control and testing his talent while writing and recording. He also admits to using his life experiences as inspiration while writing his lyrics. As most people who pursue music have been through the starving artist phase, West West admits to falling into

that category since he is hungry for success. He shared that he does not have time for breaks and says that pursuing music isn’t a hobby it’s his life, therefore he is proud to be a starving artist because that just means he is hungry for musical success. West West feels that his music appeals to a fan base ranging in age from 17-30 and anyone who enjoys dancing and the party approach to music. His advice to anyone out there pursuing success is to Chase your dreams, don’t ever give up and don’t let anyone get in the way or make you feel incapable of achieving your goals, with persistence and self belief you can make it. Stay posted for West West official CD drop and on the look out for his affiliation with upcoming clothing line Ducqets who is his sponsor.

Don’t forget to check out his new CD and get your Ducqets on deck @ http://ducqets.com for all kinds of Dope gear. West West wanted to leave his biggest and best inspiration for last, who is his beautiful and loving daughter Lynnessa West who is also his #1 fan, where he gets his main drive and determination in succeeding in music and life. He would also like to give a shout out to everyone involved in his musical endeavors including Camp BenDrankin, Pash-on, Seasalio, Buccem, Brasco, Joe Hustle and Jay Beats with special thanks to Rush Money Productions. It will most definitely be worth your while.

Marcos Navarro by Alejandrina Aragon Marcos Navarro aka MTO is a San Diego native recording artist and producer born and raised in National City, Ca. that I was recently given the opportunity to interview. MTO has been in the music industry professionally for 11 years as an artist and producer and currently has a record label called CalMex music group that he started with Julio Ontiveros and Raul Baby Caras, which was established in September of 2006. The music group name representing his roots in Mexico while being raised in California, where he produces a number of artists including Termite, YK, Two Face, Night Stalker and newly signed recording artist who is the youngest on the label at only 13 years of age along with being the only female on the label, recently signed on February 14, 2012. When I asked MTO why start your own label he shared with me his opinion on the industry. He mentioned a lot of times when you sign to a label they take creative control that belong to the artist. In order to prevent that not only for himself as an artist, but also other artists he pursued starting a label that would be different than most giving the artist creative control over their careers. As an Artist MTO has travel around the world including his Japan tour in April 2009 prior to the 2010 devastating tsunami and has had a great deal of success, sales and popularity overseas including places like Germany as well as locally. He was signed to a Japanese recording label by the name of Thug Ballers Records and did a CD and DVD combo called Fallow Your Dreams that included a documentary footage about his involvement and life in and around music . When asked how the name MTO came about Marcos mentioned that the name has been around since 1986 and came from a friend of his by the name of Richard Iizarraga. MTO was initially the name of a crew that Richard established back in the days that was around from about 1986 to the mid 90s. In 1996 Richard gave rights of the name to Marcos at which point he decided to give the name a positive twist by registering and trade marking it, becoming a music group and artist. MTO explains his musical styling varies and includes slow songs, rap and hip hop with the majority being love ballads. He feels the genre

that he is most relatable to is hip hop because all of his music tells a story and his fans range in age from about 19 to 30. Most of his fans have fallowed his career from the beginning starting professionally for MTO at the age of 21. He admits when he performs live that he doesn’t have any female dancers as a personal preference because he believed that they can draw attention away from the message in the music. He also mentioned that all his performances are guaranteed to be live as he is a firm believer that lip singing to a pre recorded track is a let down to the fans. As an artist MTO writes all his own music and plays the keys as well which he learned at the age of 17. As a producer he uses musical software such as Pro Tools and a Yamaha Motif ES8. MTO did all his initial marketing and promoting the old school way by originally getting his music out with the use of music promoters and flyers. He has in more recent years joined the Social Media and Networking ring with its growing popularity in getting music out to the public. He admits that he has seen the music industry completely change from the use of tapes, to CD’s when there used to be War house records, Tower records and a Musica Latinas on every corner. Now days the music industry has became more main stream and technologically advanced using iTunes, Pandora, YouTube, sound cloud and reverb nation among many other music sites and the old school record, tape and CD stores are a thing of the past. Growing up MTO explains his first personal experience with music was as a teenager was rapping and doing roll calls on a home alone recording machine with a good friend of his He says they would get Dr. Dre beats and instrumentals, to rap to them. He admits that this was a very fond memory as he was able to express himself creatively thru music with one of his best friends who has since then passed away. He went on to explain that has achieved the majority of his personal goals as an artist in the industry and wants to be know, as someone who went on to help others in the community to make it in the indu try through producing. MTO is very passionate about his roots and

His writing style as an artist is expressive of his life experience, love stories including mistakes men make in relationships, family relationships, past mistakes and coming out of the hood. When deciding to do all the writing and producing himself, it was his desire to experiment creatively as a musician and build himself into the type of artist that he wants to be and sound like, that led him to this project. When asked, Chad Lee explained his definition of success as an artist, is to have his music out there, having people listening, appreciating and enjoying it. Up and Coming:

by Kali Winston The new generation of hip hop has brought many different styles and sounds to the surface, but few are as stand-out as collective Odd Future’s duo “Mellowhype”. Mellowhype is composed of rapper Hodgy Beats and producer Left Brain, both hailing from Los Angeles, Califo nia as well as both very prominent and well-known figures in the underground hip-hop community.

Since their pursuit of being a force in the music scene, the two have been featured on tracks of fellow group member’s projects such as Mike G’s “BlaccFriday” and Domo Genesis’s “Rolling Papers” and have now produced two studio albums. Mellowhype has also been featured on BBCs music showcase as well as performed on The Daily Habit, giving the public a feel of their dark presence.

Although the two have been busy on tour with their counterparts and living the life of the young and lavished, they have also been hard at work making music for their fans; both old and new. On October 9th, 2012, Hodgy Beats and Left Brain released their highly anticipated sophomore album, Numbers, under Fat Possom Records. The sixteentrack album features appearances of respected underground rappers as well as a few members from the Odd Future roster. All tracks on the album are produced by the multi-talented “Left Brain”, the other half of the Mellowhype duo.

Sex Lies & Skin The Best Worst Cure for Bad Sex There is nothing worse than rolling over, getting out of bed, whatever considering calling the sexy guy from the gym who always flirts with you or your co-worker who loves to give you subtle peaks down her blouse. Yes, you feel bad that after sex with your significant other you want someone else and even worse that while they were climaxing you were imagining a random quickie. You don’t want to cheat but the fact of the matter is your partner is not only three continents away from starting to please you and it has been going on for a while. Sex is the same all the time… The two of you get into the bed, you kiss, you go down on your partner hoping that they will cum hard enough they forget you two were supposed to have sex, which works sometimes. Then you get you into the position you know makes your partner cum fastest, give them some sex talk, and let them think that deep sigh of relief its over is one of satisfaction. As they talk or snore away their satisfaction you can’t help but wonder when the last time was that you really had an orgasm. You don’t even let your partner come to your house for sex anymore because it gives you the perfect excuse not to be around for the torture of round two. Don’t get me wrong you care about your partner there might even be some other perks in the relationship that up till now have made cheating the furthest thing from your mind but the muscles in your hand are starting to ache from all the times you’ve finished yourself off. So the big question is:

Cheating does more than hurt the other person it also hurts your ability to be in a healthy relationship. The more you cheat the more the behavior gets ingrained in your head. Sure you get the satisfaction of getting the sex that you wanted but what happens when the first person stops satisfying you? Do you cheat again because you aren’t getting what you want? What happens when you find someone who really does satisfy you but you see someone you’re slightly interested in? Cheating to fill avoid just enlarges the void because you condition yourself to always replace before truly attempting to repair. By now you are thinking screw all this deep thought and what ifs I can leave, move on and still keep my good character intact. The ones of you who choose this do because you call yourself being the better person for recognizing you aren’t satisfied and leaving before you cheat. Here’s a newsflash for you… You aren’t being the better person you’re just avoiding the situation. Avoiding the conversation completely is a form of denial that still doesn’t allow you to express that there is something lacking in your life and that you know what that something is.

159

Sex tips to spice up the bedroom or some philosophical justification for cheating are always great but right now it’s not just about being able to get the mind blowing sex you want; it’s about being able to deal with lies you tell yourself and your partner and being able to deal with the naked truth.

www.thegoodsmag.co

It’s not the answer you want to hear but you need to talk about you not being sexually satisfied with your partner. Whether you ultimately choose to leave the relationship or not is a completely separate issue and connecting your decision to stay with your decision to talk about the problem only keeps the real problem in the dark. Personally I would rather have someone break up with me because I’m not sexually satisfying and they admit they don’t want me to try than them just leaving for some erroneous reason. Being able to say why you are leaving is just as much for you as it is for the other person. Saying out loud that you aren’t sexually satisfied releases the tension that has mounted from you acting like you are and some of the resentment you feel that they are getting something you aren’t. Whether you want to admit it or not you carry that into your next sexual interactions and it affects how you deal with your new partner.

We all know the right answer to the question. Talk to your partner and tell them the problem and try to fix it together, but let’s be realistic it’s easier said than done. Admitting to your partner that they aren’t satisfying you is never a comfortable discussion especially when it has been going on for a while. The conversation isn’t just uncomfortable its confrontational because the next question always is have you cheated. If you are going to go with this option you need to just say it and not worry about how it’s going to come out. If she scrapes you with her teeth when she’s going down and sounds stupid when she talks dirty make her watch porn to try to get ideas on how to do it better and tell her to just not talk dirty. Ladies if you haven’t had that mind blowing orgasm because he just isn’t hitting your spot, hitting it the right way, or changes positions too much… TELL HIM AND SHOW HIM instead of numbing your G-Spot with your vibrator. I won’t lie to you guys and say that they won’t be upset but it’s not anger or irritation its embarrassment because they thought they were doing a good job and just found out they weren’t.

Of course you can always cheat, I mean you’ve known people who have been able to cheat on their partner and still get the security, lifestyle, money, or “love” out of their partner. Some of them have been able to get away with it for a long time but in most cases being able to “have your cake and eat it too” is short lived. Eventually your initial partner finds out, your new partner becomes more demanding or addictive, and/ or you just get tired trying to juggle the two (or three or four).

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter, and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. -Abraham Lincoln

“I hardly ever give my opinion on politics but lately I find myself reading newspapers, blogs, and online articles about the world that is ever-changing. I’ve lived in Montana & California for most of my life, with the exception of the time I spent in Canada and Mexico. Lucky for me, everything seems to always work out in my life. I feel very blessed. But over the years, several major events have occurred that made me start paying attention to what was happening to my beloved country, one of which happens to be the tragedy of 9/11. How can we forget that day? That was the day America watched the unthinkable happen, and it happened in front of our eyes. Since then we have experienced a shift in our culture. It seems that we have eagerly given up a large portion of our liberty and freedom in exchange for vague promises of security. Eleven years later, we have unprecedented debt, unprecedented deficits, the economy crashed, gas prices are ever rising, food prices have skyrocketed, the mom and pop shops of yesterday are nearly non existent, and honestly the list goes on and on for as far as the eye can see — it’s not all related to 9/11, but the economic weakness of the United States was accelerated by our response to this horrific tragedy. What happened America? Why are we so scared, and I’m not just talking about outside terrorists, why are we so scared of ourselves? As HBO’s “The Newsroom” stated “America is not the greatest country in the world anymore”. Leave it to a script writer to hit the nail on the head. Because there right we’re not. “We use to be. We use to stand up for what was right. We fought for moral reasons. We passed laws, struck down laws, for moral reasons. We waged wars on poverty, not poor people. We sacrificed. We cared about our neighbors. We put our money where our mouths were. And we never beat our chest. We built great big things, made ungodly technological advances, explored the universe, cured diseases, and we cultivated the worlds greatest artists and the worlds greatest economy. We reached for the stars. Acted like men. and we aspired to intelligence. We didn’t identify ourselves by who we voted for in the last election, and we didn’t scare so easy. We were able to be all these things and do all these things because we were informed. By great men. Men who were revered. First step in solving any problem is recognizing there is one. America is not the greatest country in the world anymore.” Having heard this speech and personal experienced watching all of this happen, I believe what our country desperately needs is a leader who loves us. Americans have been treated with contempt for so long that we have become inured to our own society’s suffering. I want a leader who can love us. And, truthfully, by our collective behaviour, we have made it hard to demand this. We are as we are, imperfect to the max, racist and sexist and greedy above all; still, I feel we deserve leaders who love us. We will not survive more of what we have had: leaders who love nothing, not even themselves. Our taxes are collected without fail, with no input from us; sometimes, because we lack jobs they are paid with money we have to borrow. Our children are sent places they never dreamed of visiting, to harm and make enemies of people who, prior to their arrival, had thought well of them. Kind, smart, freedom-loving Americans. I mean where does this leave us average Americans? Who feel the chill of global warming, the devastation of war, the terror of being jobless, the lack of security in our future and in our country? Hopefully with a sense of awakening: that we have had few opportunities to be led by those who have the capacity to care for us, to love us, and that we, in our lack of love for ourselves, have, too often, not chosen them. Perhaps with the certainty that though we are as we are and sorely imperfect, we still deserve someone in leadership who “gets” us, and that this self-defeating habit of accepting our leaders’ contempt need not continue. Wake up America, It’s time to stand up for what is right. It’s time to fight for moral reasons. To passed moral laws, and strike down laws that do not meet our moral expectations. It’s time to wage war on poverty, not on our poor people. It’s time we sacrificed for the good of “the people” and to care about our neighbors. It’s time to put our money where our mouths are. And to stop beating our chests.

by Alejandrina Aragon Having been born and raised in San Diego, I have come to realize that with all the diversity here in Sunny Southern Cali there are so many different places and types of food to try within the community. I love trying new things especially when it comes to cuisine and after 31 years of being a San Diego Native, I still have yet to try all the amazing culinary treats my hometown has to offer. I recently moved to the Alpine area of San Diego County and had heard amazing things about the Alpine Beer Company. So I decided to try it for myself. I arranged an interview and restaurant review with head chef, Brandon Dodge by whom I was graciously and professionally greeted. The atmosphere of this establishment is extremely welcoming; with a rockabilly decor and a BBQ menu that is very informative about the food preparation and pub policies. There is direct visual access into the kitchen so you can actually see the process while you wait for your food. The staff was courteous, fun loving and works well together with a great collaborated business ethic. It has a convenient location right of the main road of Alpine Blvd, which is off the 8 freeway with quick and easy freeway access extremely close by. The Brew Pub is on the east side of the building and the brewery on the west side of it. There is a patio in the rear for outdoor dining and socializing which is very quaint and comfortable with a beautiful view of the mountains. It has a very welcoming vibe and is child friendly before 8pm.

B E E R

co.review: While I was there I also had the opportunity to meet with General Manager, Danielle who explained how Alpine Beer Company started. The Brewing Company was established in 2002 by an Alpine Fire Captain named Pat. He started out doing home brewing and won several awards at the San Diego State Fair for his Irish Reds. Pat had experience, especially having volunteered at Ale-Smith, from learning how to use larger scale equipment which led him to the opportunity of opening his own brewery. The owner of Ale-Smith offered Pat the opportunity to brew his own Irish Red on a large scale for resale in bottles. This led him to the ownership and operation of Alpine Beer Company, which is known for the flagship beers of Alpine Ale, Irish Red and Mandarin Nectar. Alpine Beer Company owner Pat’s wife Val convinced Pat to add more and more hops to the beers they brewed which is why the brewery is so well known for their IPA’s. Retired fire captain, owner and master brewer Pat’s son, Sean is now doing the majority of the brewing and is responsible for the newer recipes such as Olden’s Raven, Bad Boy and Token. During my amazing dining experience at Alpine Beer Company, I was lucky enough to try the 2012 award winning Duet which was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. I also enjoyed one of their many weekly specials on Taco Tuesday. I had a delicious beef brisket taco with an amazing blend of brisket which was smoked in oak with hot rub for 16 hours marinated in the ague from the scraps of brisket, with a combination of black beans, corn salsa, coleslaw, cheddar cheese and a delicious chipotle ranch sauce. It’s an amazing blend of flavors and a refreshing

twist to the classic taco. I also tried the full size smoked hot wings which where mouth watering with just the right amount of spiciness with a burst of flavor which was quite a treat for a hot wing lover like myself. And last but not least, the pulled pork sandwich that falls apart in your mouth, with all the amazing flavor and tenderness, topped with coleslaw and barbeque sauce which was my personal favorite and also a highly popularized menu item. The presentation was appealing and appetizing and the food was full of delicious flavoring that is obviously well thought out and blended well together. When I asked head chef Brandon Dodge how he got into the culinary field, he admitted he has been in the restaurant industry since the age 16. He hasn’t received any official culinary schooling however he has worked his way up in the industry having started out being a dish washer, bus boy, waiting tables, bar tending to preparation cook and has held his position as head chef with Alpine Beer Company for 2 years now. He admits he loves experimenting with his culinary treats and Alpine Brew Pub has several specials offered on a regular basis. The specials consist of a variety of creative culinary treats that Brandon has been given the ability to experiment with, to open himself up as a chef. Some of the menu items that he is offering aren’t what they are typically known for being a BBQ restaurant, however they are amazing and interesting additional menu options. One example of a nontraditional menu item that Brandon has recently offered was a deconstructed sushi roll with white rice, seared tuna, cucumber green salad with avocado and wasabi aioli drizzled on top it off. Another delicious special item is Pork belly brazed in their tasty Ikabod beer. Nothing goes to waste at Alpine Beer Company, which I love because all the beer run off is caught and used to marinate the meats and make beer mustard. Brandon Dodge head Chef, admits that plate presentation is as equally important as taste and one of his highest personal self expectations as a Chef. He also mentioned that Fridays and Saturdays are the busiest for them at Alpine Beer Company with Saturday afternoon being most popular. Some currently weekly Pub specials are Taco Tuesday where you get your choice of pulled pork or a beef brisket with the above mentioned toppings. Full Size Wings in BBQ, Buffalo or Dry rub with pitchers of Alpine Beer on special all night on Wing Wednesdays. Thirsty Thursdays where all bottles of wine are half off and you can choose from a trio of sliders of one pork, one brisket, one chicken

and your choice of any side for under $10. The unique dinner specials that I mentioned are offered every Friday and Saturday night between 5-9pm for those of you who want to treat your taste buds with something nontraditional and delicious. All in all, I would most definitely return to Alpine Beer Company as well as recommend them for one of their many specials, amazing culinary treats and a long list of fresh brewed delicious and unique recipes known for their IPA’s. Not to mention the best potato salad I have ever tasted! Next time I go I am definitely going to have to try the Mixing it up drink menu option where you can combine your favorite brews into a personalized brew for personal taste pleasure. Alpine Beer Company has an amazing aroma when you’re in the area from the brewing process that is captivating and I know my mouth was watering as soon as I walked in. As far as the brewery goes, I was only able to try the Duet during my time there. However I did have a chance to walk over the brew side which smelled amazing and had a huge brew menu including, award winning Duet, Mandarin Nectar, Willy Vanilly, Crazy Hazel, Bad Boy and much, much more. For additional information on location, menu items, brew options as well as the seasonal brews that Alpine Beer Company has to offer go to http://www.alpinebeerco.com/. Alpine Beer Company has an amazing reputation with the locals having been in business for almost 11 years on the Brew side and a little over 2 years on the Pub side and is extremely popular within the community. There is minimal wait on busy days and there is a beautiful view from the nice outdoor patio waiting area where there is plenty of room to wait, to have a drink and socialize while you wait. Amazing food, friendly people and a welcoming environment are always a huge plus in any dining experience. Alpine Beer Company is a great place for dinner and drinks with an affordable menu and convenient location only 15 minutes from El Cajon and 35 minutes from central San Diego and most surrounding areas. In the heart of Alpine surrounded by the mountains and light snow in the winter and warm weather in the summer and spring. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to eat with family, friends or co workers you’re sure to enjoy amazing food and delicious fresh brews at Alpine Beer Company.

According to Neilson ratings, smartphone ownership has passed the 50% mark of all mobile phone users. The versatility of a smartphone is undeniable. Phones are no longer for merely speaking with friends or acquaintances, they are miniature computers, video game consoles, and navigation systems. Of course with this processing power comes a seemingly endless supply of new features and programs in the form of Applications. Now, I am not going to assume that you have never heard of an app before, and this article is not here to tout the popularity of apps that most people already have on their phones. I think we are all aware of the “Facebook” app and its accompanying messenger app. Most of us have “Words With Friends” and “Scramble With Friends” installed. I instead wanted to give you a list of my top 5 most useful and fun apps.

1

“YP” By YellowPages.com: A free app on both the Android and Apple format, this app allows you to enter a location and get gas prices, places to eat, deals, movie times, and all manner of entertainment and business functions. My favorite feature on this app is how I can search for different octanes of gas. This may seem like a small function but it shows that Yellow Pages has paid attention to little details.

2

“WhatsApp!” By WhatsApp! Inc: If you are going to plan a night out using YP then invite some friends along! This app is by far my favorite app available for texting. It uses your data connection instead of relying on either a prepaid plan or a select number of messages. I am sure that like myself, many of you probably have a texting plan. This app is the only one I have used that has made me consider getting rid of my texting plan. Easy to use, tons of Emoji for livening up a conversation, and my favorite part, it works all over the world! I regularly text friends in Europe without fear of racking up a huge bill. Stay in contact with all your friends anywhere in the world! Android users are lucky in that this app is free for them whereas it will set Iphone users back $0.99. Well worth the price.

3

“How To Tie A Tie” By ArtelPlus: This app has come in handy more times than I can count. I never learned to tie a tie until my mid 20’s. Before that I always slid that thing over my head and saved it for another day. This free app comes with easy to follow instructions on how to tie 13 different types of Ties. Use this to add some personality to your individual style. A half Windsor is pretty easy to accomplish but show a woman you have class and go for the Full Windsor or be bold with a Pratt. San Diego has a TON of fashion events. Make an impression with a well fitted suit and the St. Andrew knot (don’t know what some of these are? Download the app and get practicing!). Ladies, there is a version for you as well titled “How to Tie A Scarf”, it gives you different techniques to spice up your accessories!

4

“MyFitnessPal” by MyFitnessPal.com : Speaking of being in a well fitted suit, my fitness pal is a free app that lets you log your food and exercises on the fly and helps you keep track of your progress. In my experience, many people make the mistake of either over eating or not understanding just how much they are eating. MyFitnessPal has an extensive library of food that includes both carb and protein content as well as fat content. By entering in a few details it figures out how much you should be eating a day to reach your goals. Since I have picked up this app 2 weeks ago I have lost 5 lbs.

5

“StickBo Zombies” By Lake Effect Applications: In today’s fast paced world we all need a little time to de-stress and relax a bit. By taking a small break we can actually increase our productivity and I am sure, like me, you have been stuck in a waiting room with a few minutes to kill. That’s where StickBo Zombies comes along. Blow through zombies with your chainsaw, exploding arrow, m16! Cause a little damage and let those troubles melt away. I love games like these because of the simple reason that I can pick it up anytime, not have to spend a lot of time gaining levels or upgrading a character. I can play, stop, and pick it up later. There you have it, my 5 favorites! Try them out! What do you think of these? Like em? Hate em? What are your favorites? Let me know on Twitter: twitter.com/grrr_arrg

Day

Jessica Krantz is a professional model, creative director, artist, writer, and lover of life. Her educational background includes a BA in Graphic Design and Visual Communication at Westwood, Anaheim, CA and an Associate of Science in Construction Engineering at Mesa Collage, San Diego. Jessica is most well known for her work inspired by Día de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead). In 2009 on a trip to Puerto Rico, Jessica experienced the day of the dead festival first hand and become envious of their approach towards mortality. She then packed her bags and moved to Mexico in 2010 to completely immerse herself in the culture.

While studying abroad she worked with several traditional and modern Día de los Muertos artist and ultimately decided to rebel against her heritage and started creating paintings inspired by the mood and atmosphere of this holiday. “I decided to get in-touch with my immortality. Traditionally our culture runs from death. We worship beauty and have this illusion that someday we will catch the fountain of youth. We fool ourselves into thinking that death only happens to other people & only the weak die. But when we look at the skeletons of Día de los Muertos, they always look like they’re laughing. Families gathered on graves and picnic, whole villages turn up with food for households in mourning. Death is treated as normal, even silly. Sugar Skulls adorn graveyards by the hundreds and skeletons are dancing around in a fair-ground like atmosphere. My art is meant to show this side of life. It’s meant to show life and death as one eternal entity. You cannot have one without the other. In understanding death, as a part of life, you can embrace and accept it rather than fear it. It encompasses the belief that our souls are eternal, and that each new birth or death is simply another stage in our soul journey.” People often compare Dia de los Muertos to Halloween. While at first glance they may appear to be similar, in truth, the two celebrations are completely different. Halloween is a European holiday that is based on their concept of death. Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday which is celebrated in order to remember and honor the lives of their “passedon” loved ones. Currently Jessica is back in San Diego and is working on her mixed media art series which displays the centuries-old love affair of art and fashion. From the Renaissance, when painters first sought to accurately capture the form, color, and texture of clothing, to today, when models strut down the runway in virtual works of art. It’s movement, design and architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are, who we want to become, and who we wish to remember. Combine that with her passion for Dia de los Muertos, and you’re now seeing a piece of her creative conciseness. Through her many endeavors Jessica stands out as creative leader and is expected to take the industry by storm though her many talents.
