What really stood out to me is his faith that does not fade away, reserved in heaven in Christ Jesus. We talked about how beautiful for you, who are kept by the power of God heaven is and what it would be like when we through faith for salvation ready to be revealed get there. From our conversation, I knew he in the last time.” The Bible says I’m a new loved the Lord. oshua 1:6-9 says, “Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” What does being brave mean to you? How can you use bravery for the kingdom? According to Webster dictionary, brave means having or showing mental or moral strength to face danger, fear, or difficulty, having or showing courage. To me, being brave means conquering a difficult situation without being defeated. Maybe your parents are divorced or getting divorced. You feel like it’s your fault and you blame yourself. It is never your fault. Being brave during this hard time is very important. Hold you head up high and do not allow the enemy to tell you it’s your fault. How can you turn this hard time into bravery for the kingdom? You can pray and ask God to help you handle the feeling of it being your fault. Instead of being sad all the time about your mommy and daddy, ask Jesus to comfort you and make you happy because both of your parents love you no matter if they are together or not. This is very hard for someone to go through at a young

8 // September 2018

age. I understand; I went through it. I did not know my biological father that well. The only time I saw him was when I went to visit him every other weekend because I had too. Was it fun? No! I knew that I had to talk to my mom about not going anymore. I was old enough to say no, and that I didn’t want to go. I stopped going to his house and throughout the years I didn’t talk to him. I received a text message on my seventeenth birthday that said I was making the worst decision by not allowing him to be in my life. I knew at that point that I had to be brave and tell him that I did not want him to contact me anymore. By this time my mom was married to a man who I now call my dad. It’s okay to say no to people that disrespect you. You deserve someone that will take you in and love you like our Heavenly Father loves you. My parents will be married nineteen years this coming February. I thought I would never have an earthly father, but God sent my daddy into my life. He has filled a void that I thought would never be whole again. To say the least, I am a daddy’s girl and always will be.You can have a relationship like this with your Heavenly Father because He loves you unconditionally. Be brave. You can do it.

When Jesus is not at the center, we become spiritually bankrupt. The problem is not our wallet. It’s a heart condition. Your heart is a treasure chest. What you keep inside it is what spills out when you open your mouth. Gò0dNews for Women

A Virtuous Woman n Sunday school we are learning the value of a woman to God, her husband, children and society. The more we get into depth of Proverbs 31, I reflect on what I was taught growing up. Be a lady in all you do! Sit properly, dress respectfully, cross your legs, save yourself for marriage, work to eat, speak kindly and without cursing, keep a clean home, love your children, but teach them the ways of the Lord. Where has the virtuous woman gone? Let's define virtuous, righteous, good, pure, saintly, angelic, moral, ethical, upright, upstanding, high-minded and principled. Is this what you see when you look at your character? Do you see this in your daughters, sister, and friends? Although I aspire to be all these things God has asked of me, I do fail from time to time. But each day is a new day to be more of the virtuous woman. Society is now teaching our young women that vanity, wealth, lust, looking out for #1 is the exciting way to live. No longer do we value marriage, our self-image, and most of all our character. Be whatever you wanna be! Anything is acceptable! What was once undesirable and often hidden is now rewarded. Throw your morals out the door! It’s a free to be you and me kind of world.

14 // September 2018

I was raised partly by my grandparents who were in their sixty's when I was born in the early 70's. My grandmother was a virtuous woman. She taught me early in life to cook, clean, sew, garden, and how to take care of a family. My mother taught me in other ways by her examples. She is very kind, soft spoken, dresses honorably, never curses, very much a caregiver, and has been a wonderful influence. Read and study Proverbs 31:10-30. Don't feel overwhelmed. None of us are perfect but that shouldn't keep us from trying to be more as Christ called us to be. He created women for a purpose, here is a great purpose. Now don't panic and think all of this has to be done in a week. The example of this woman took years for her to accomplish. It was by her character, strength, and faithfulness to God that she tackled these duties daily. Reflect on your life and you will find you have accomplished many of the same attributes. The ones you’re lacking, well that's where you begin. Set a daily task of how you will live your day more virtuously. Let's be examples for women of the future that virtue is much more appealing and most of all honors our heavenly father.

Gò0dNews for Parents

Stay Where You Can See Me y pastor recently preached about the storm on Lake Gennesaret in which Jesus walks on the water, then Peter walks out to Jesus, but turns his attention to the storm and begins to sink. One of the lessons from that sermon was: If it gets so dark that you can’t see, remember, just because you can’t see Jesus, doesn’t mean He can’t see you. As long as He can see you, you are going to make it. This is absolutely true, but it got me to thinking about when we would go on an outing with our boys when they were little. When they were infants and toddlers, they were always in a stroller or a shopping cart. When they were children, they walked with us, but had to hold our hands. When they got a little older, they didn’t have to hold our hands, but they still had to stay right beside us. Eventually our boys were old enough to be allowed to put a little distance between us and them in a store, but I always told them, “Stay where you can see me.” While the traditional advice is, “Stay where I can see you,” I chose

the inverse because, in my way of thinking, if they could see me, I most likely could see them too, which ensured their safety. One difference in parents and Jesus is that He can always see where we are. Scripture even refers to God as El Roi—the God who sees. David praised God in Psalm 139 for knowing where he was at all times: “You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. You go before me and follow me.” As parents we try our very best to keep our eyes on our children at all times, but if they are to learn any independence, we have to let them out of our sight from time-to-time. Unlike human parents, God never loses sight of us, even when we stray from Him. One similarity between children and followers of Christ is that when we get comfortable with our situation, we can get distracted by things around us, like Peter’s storm or a shiny toy, and take our eyes off the one who’s looking out for us. Like a lost child, this can lead us into situations we are not equipped to handle. Storms and distractions are going to come in life, but if we commit ourselves to “Keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith” (Heb. 12:2a, NLT), we will be able to “strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And… run with endurance the race God has set before us” (Heb. 12:1, NLT). Jesus can see you. Stay where you can see Him.

Gò0dNews for Life

Connections, not Competition ecently, I reached out to various authors, nonprofits, businesses, etc. to see if they might be interested in allowing us to include their information in the attendee bags for a training we hosted. Amie, an author, shared a very powerful threeword statement with me, “connection, not competition.” Her words brought to mind a quote from Mother Teresa, “I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things.” It seems that there is a bit of competitiveness, generally, among non-profits. Perhaps because each ministry knows that to continue serving, they rely on donations and volunteers? As a small ministry these things are vital to what we do, but perhaps what is more important, is that we focus on connections. We each bring something special to the table. I believe that God places passions into our hearts to serve His purpose. Sometimes our passions are birthed from a painful experience, (He promises to work all things for His good, Romans 8:28) but he does not allow pain without something new being born (Isaiah 66:9). Yet, other times He births them into our hearts because He knows that we will be faithful servants. So many amazing ministries have been birthed from great loss. For example, multiple ministries have begun in response to precious babies whose lives and legacies have changed the world, like Maddux, Faith, Grace, Thomas, Natalie, Finley, Colton, Asher, Ember, Hayden and, honestly, the list could go on forever. What unites each of our ministries is our willingness to serve together. For we each have experienced firsthand great love and great loss. God promises throughout His word that He knew us before we were formed, that He knows the plans for us, that He knows the very number of hairs on our head, and that He alone knows the purpose of every life, no matter how brief. He, above all, knows our babies are only lent to us. The devil knows that together we can achieve so much more than we ever can alone. So he whispers

20 // September 2018

lies that we are not enough. His only desires are to kill, steal, and destroy and I won’t lie, at times I feel as though no matter what I do, it just isn’t enough. I feel that lives are not being touched by the work we do. How many of you can relate? Yet each time the Lord sends a word of confirmation reminding me to be faithful. Sometimes that message comes from loved ones

and sometimes from strangers who live hundreds of miles away. I would like to encourage you to remain faithful in your purpose. Let your life be a light in the darkness for others. Do not allow competition to exceed the true connections being made. May we each, myself included, focus on connections with those we serve alongside so that we do not let competition with one another diminish our light as a whole. To those ministries who welcome others with open arms, thank you.

Twelve years before the business leaders in Rome established the Rome Exchange Club, they wanted to have their service project to include education of the Rome and surrounding areas regarding horticulture and better homemaking practices. That led to the first Coosa Valley Fair of 1949 headed by the Exchange Club of Rome. If you did the math, the Exchange Club is celebrating its 82nd birthday. The first fairgrounds was a short distance off old Darlington Drive in a Livestock sale barn. On October 3, 1949, in a small hospital in Ft. Payne Alabama, a tiny baby was born. Years passed, the fair grew, and the toddler grew. Finally, both met in Rome, Georgia in 1972, where this year’s Fair President began her career as a County Extension Agent. From day one, this young lady always worked at the Coosa Valley

her Fair Committee a wonderful event for the over 80,000 guests who are anticipated to attend the Fall’s Finest Festival Birthday party. When approached by the Exchange Club three years ago, she agreed to be the rising President. She said, “I would be honored to work with the Exchange Club and the Coosa Valley Fair Association to plan a fair if we could have the Flying Wallendas performing at our fair.” It took the collaboration of many to work that magic for the Coosa Valley Fair, but fellow Exchange member Bud Owens worked the impossible. The Wallendas are coming to our 2018 Fair! Another feat was to get a grand opening ceremony for the October 2nd opening of the Fair. Beginning at 5:15 p.m., the Berry College Drumline will march in the colors, patriotic music will be played, songs sung, and to cap the opening, a “flyover” of two T-28 fighter planes from the Rome Flight Museum will grace the skies. The flight is scheduled to honor the veterans serving in the Exchange Club. The Fair Association held a raffle, and the names of two winners will be drawn on September 7th. The two winners will fly as copilots accompanied by two Marine or Air Force pilots in full flight suits. They will experience a beautiful “birds eye view” of the opening of the fair. During the five day Fair, there will be events including a Jurassic Kingdom experience, a Spirit night, a beauty queen contest, a gospel night, educational displays, a flower show, a photography display, an art display, homemaking foods, canning for youth and adults, and handmade crafts. Additionally the Porcelain Arts group will be demonstrating how to paint fine china. Community groups will be doing Kid Identification. And, what would an Agricultural fair be without livestock shows and a petting zoo? There are 211 Exchange members and countless other volunteers giving of their time to carry on this 70 year old tradition to raise money. People ask all the time, “What does the Exchange Club and the Fair Association do with the money raised during this event?” The answer is simple; it goes back into the community. How? Premiums are given to adults and youth through their willingness to display what

they have created during the year in food, arts, crafts, flowers, and livestock. The fair supports all the programs of service of the Exchange Club of Rome: youth projects, Americanism, community service and the National Exchange project, the Prevention of Child Abuse. Other donations go to public and private schools in the area to help support their fine art programs. Youth clubs like the 4-H Clubs and scouting programs benefit from the profits raised at the fair. The fairgrounds are maintained so that community agencies like the Chieftains’ plant sale, Rome and Floyd County Police training programs, Toys for Tots collection and distribution, School Daze antidrug training, and many other activities that benefit the community can be presented without rental fees. You can join these dedicated members of the Rome Exchange Club as they serve our community in various ways. You can get more information from the Coosa Valley Fair website where you can find our 2018 Fair Catalog listing the events, contests, times, and dates for the all the Fair events.

Gò0dNews for Teens by Bud Kinches

aith is very important when it comes to our walk with Christ. It's so important that the Bible says, in Hebrews 11:6 that without faith it is impossible to please God. So what is faith? Hebrews 11:1 says that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of the things not seen. The fact that we serve a God that we've never seen means that we have faith. I have had the chance to serve in youth ministry for quite some time now and I find that very often young

people tend to put their faith in other things or people besides Jesus. Perhaps it's their favorite actor, singer, sports star, or maybe even something, like a material thing. That seems to be the world's job today to get young people sucked into something, to take their minds off the most important thing, which is their relationship with Christ. There is no doubt that being a teenager in today's world can be so hard. I've talked to so many young people who tell me how difficult it is to be a Christian sometimes. Maybe it's because their friends don't believe the same way they do, or maybe something happens in their lives that they

26 // September 2018

simply can't understand, the loss of a loved one or a friend or maybe their parents getting divorced. They will ask themselves the question that we've all asked at one point or another in our lives: why? Why did God let this happen? Why would God allow this person to pass away? My friends and I have been there so many times in my life. My parents divorced when I was 8 years old. I had a very close friend who passed away in a car accident who loved the Lord so much and so many other things that I can't even fit in this article. Nowhere in the Bible did it say it would always be easy. I mean look at Job. He was a man who loved the Lord and then one day he loses everything. His family, all of his possessions, gone in the blink of an eye. It got so bad for Job that his wife told him he should just curse God and die but Job never lost his faith in God and in the end got so much more back. I like to tell people that faith is like a muscle. You go work out your physical muscles in the gym to stay strong and in shape because if you don't you become weak. That faith muscle has to be worked out, too. That comes when we go through things like tests or trials. It works out our faith in Christ to keep it strong. My main goal with this article is to encourage you today if you're going through something. I know the new school year is in full swing and maybe you're already facing challenges that are testing you. Please don't lose the faith. Remember that Jesus sticks closer than a brother and he will never leave your or forsake you. You may not understand why right now, and you might not ever, but remember what Jesus said that faith the size of a mustard seed can move a mountain. Just so you know the mustard seed is the smallest seed on planet earth. That's all you need! God bless you as you continue on this awesome journey in your relationship with God! Keep the faith!

Gò0dNews for Everyone When Life Became Too Personal (Conclusion) ast month we talked about planning. Hopefully, you are well on your way to easing the minds of your family and friends by making your wishes known, verbally and in writing. Having these talks is so much easier when you are well and there are not multiple stressors facing you and your family. Let’s turn our attention to other decisions you or a loved one may be facing now or in the near future. The physician has diagnosed a life-limiting illness and the time may be at hand that treatment options for curative

care are no longer a viable options or medications are no longer effective. Your physician, a family member, or a friend mentions a word – Hospice. Does hospice mean it is all over for me, nothing else will be done, healthcare has abandoned me? Absolutely not. Hospice is a philosophy of care. It is not about giving up or giving in; it is a decision to let nature follow its natural course. It is adjusting the plan of care and the mindset from curative treatment to comfort care. Hospice is about affirming life; making the most of life each and every day. Hospice is a support system of people helping people achieve their Goals of Care as they move toward the end of this earthly journey. Goals of Care vary from one person to the next. One person’s Goals may be pain and symptom management,

attending that special graduation, reconciliation with a family member; your Goals may be totally different. It’s all about you deciding what is most important to you and your family. Also, you make the decision on who you consider family and who you wish involved in your care, relatives are not a prerequisite. Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Medical Social Workers, Chaplains, and Volunteers are dedicated members of your professional care team who are committed to helping you achieve your goals of care. Your registered nurse is who you turn to for physical and medical needs. Certified Nursing Assistants assist with personal care based on your needs during the course of the illness. The Social Worker provides anticipatory grief support and assistance with future planning needs. The Chaplain also provides emotional support as well as spiritual support, regardless of your faith tradition. At the time a death, a registered nurse quietly comes to the home and pronounces, giving the family and caregivers an opportunity to grieve at the bedside. When the family is ready, the funeral home is called. Bereavement services are available for a year following the passing of a loved one. Memorial services are held for families wishing to participate with others in remembrance of their loved one. When my time comes honor me with your strength and courage as I prepare for my final journey. Love and care for me, thinking of me as I was in the best of times; remembering that my victory has already been won! Karon Holloway About The Author

Glocal

or the church, the question should never be, “Should we engage the world?” Jesus's last instruction to his people was to disciple the nations. The question always has to be, “How does the entire church engage the world?” The global mandate to disciple the nations is not given to a handful of special forces Christians who are more spiritual and "called" in some way and the rest of us are not. That's a category we created, not God. Sixteen years ago, Three Rivers Church started answering that question by focusing on one ethnically diverse people group in a very hard place. As we grew and the Lord mobilized our church, he started sending people to other places not within our chosen group of people. As we focused, the paradigm of how to engage was shifting even inside our own church. We have seen this paradigm shift in the last sixteen years on how the gospel is advancing. It’s less people group focused and more focused on Christians using their vocations to engage the world that will ultimately affect the places the gospel has never been. We call it "domain engagement". It's how we attempt to mobilize the whole church to use their Godgiven vocations to disciple all nations where they are. It’s the local affecting the global: Glocal. As this paradigm shift is happening, the church needs to wrestle with hard questions: 1. How do we mobilize the whole church? 2. How do we work with denominational agencies to supply them with people and provide what they can’t, such as quality member care?

34 // September 2018

3. How do you employ your vision locally so you can be effective locally and globally and not have all your resources tied up in buildings and attractional programs? 4. How do you mobilize a future generation to think about their vocations globally not just locally? 5. How do you begin to adequately care for your own members who are working around the world? Read Philippians 4:14-20 and note how the church at Philippi engaged with their own founder while he was “on the field”. What can we learn from this passage that will inform our partnership with our people around the world? 1. It is kind to share their trouble (v. 14) 2. No one partnered with Paul except Philippi, so it was vital, the one he started (v. 15) 3. They sent him help twice while he was planting other churches not just serving their needs (v. 16) 4. Paul is not seeking the gift, but the fruit that comes from the church’s partnership with folks abroad (v. 17) 5. Philippi sent supply along with one of their members, Epaphroditus, to encourage Paul (v. 18) 6. Their gift in the personal touch, in supplies and finances, was an offering to God that was acceptable (v. 18) 7. They give and serve and God gives to and serves his people. There is no out-giving God when we do his work (v. 19)

We Need the Puritans (Part 1)

M

by Rev. Reagan Marsh

ention the Puritans to most modern folks and you’ll get responses like “They were repressive prudes who hated fun” and “They were intolerant legalists who burned witches.” Or (as H.L. Mencken joked) they lived with the haunting fear that someone, somewhere, was happy. While a few outliers on the fringes gave rise to caricatures like these, they’re not true of the mainstream. Puritanism was a theological movement seeking biblical reforms within the Church of England from 1500-1700. It

When contrasted with today’s evangelical landscape, they were spiritual giants. They were towering “oaks of righteousness” (Isa 61.3); we’re more like tumbleweed. They were sinful, for sure, with significant missteps (Oliver Cromwell comes to mind here), but they knew the grace of the gospel, and clung to it, preached it, and lived it with clarity and fervor like few have before or after. We can learn several lessons from their lives and writings which will serve our souls well. 1. Be taught to read the Bible from masters of the Bible. To read Puritan writings is to enter the world of Scripture. It was said of John Bunyan (author of Pilgrim’s Progress) that if pricked, he’d bleed Scripture. Their books were generally first sermons to ordinary people, and they see God’s truth everywhere. On those pages you encounter both the explanation and the “sense” (the meaning, implications, and applications) of Scripture. They asked of every verse, “What does this teach me of God: his ways, character, promises? How does this show me Christ’s beauty, and lead me to worship? Where does my life need to change in light of it?”

38 // September 2018

Next month, we’ll consider more of why we need the Puritans today. About The Author

branched out into Presbyterian, Congregational, and Baptist expressions within and beyond England, but all sprang from a single biblical center: a Scripturally-robust vision of God amazed by his majesty, in awe of Jesus’s mercy, and seeking to walk practically in communion with the Holy Spirit. Puritanism’s devotion to convictional, confessional truth culminated in the “Great Ejection” of 1662, when 2,000 of their pastors lost their jobs and homes for quietly refusing to compromise Scriptural truth and practice. Many suffered intense persecution, even starving to death, rather than negotiating with sin and unfaithfulness.

They’re incredibly practical in application, with deep insight into Scripture’s teaching on the workings, pains, and desires of the soul. They were convinced that the Bible’s goal was “doctrine for life,” with the conviction that (as William Ames said) true theology is “the teaching of living unto God.” In other words, these masters of the Bible had been mastered by the Bible, and lovingly sought to bring its teaching to bear on all of life. Our tendency today is to despise church history, theology, and hard study, claiming that God will whisper truth to listening ears; but, as Spurgeon observed, “It’s strange that many who make much of what God supposedly says to them, think so little of what he has shown to others.” We need the Puritans to help us learn to read and live Scripture rightly, strengthening discipleship.

Reagan Marsh is a husband, daddy, teacher and a pastor at Rocky Face Baptist Church.

ack away from the fence!” I was shaken and embarrassed when I heard those loud words from a Secret Service guard at the George Herbert Walker Bush compound in Kennebunkport, Maine. I previously had flown up to Boston, Massachusetts, from Columbia, South Carolina, the summer of 1991 to see my best friend from college and his family. Joe and Linda Grayton (along with their baby Daniel) eventually drove me up to Kennebunkport to see our former Presidents’ summer home from a

distance. After I got out of their car I walked ahead of the Graytons’ oblivious to a sign which stated: “NO WALKING BEYOND THIS POINT.” I kept walking. I wanted to get closer even though I did not have access. My walking stopped when I was told to back away. When Joe and Linda (with Daniel in tow) caught up with me, they laughed! Why do we desire to get close to the famous? Why are we impressed with them such that we freak out when we get close? Years before that humiliating encounter in Maine, I remember another experience with someone famous I also stumbled upon. In 1987, I accepted a job as a Dorm Counselor and Teacher at

a boarding high school in Asheville, North Carolina. During the school year I drove 3 or 4 teenage girls and boys to the church they wanted to attend on most Sunday mornings. One Sunday, I was late in picking them up. When we finally arrived at Montreat Presbyterian Church in Montreat, N.C. we knew we would have to walk in front of people to find a seat. One of the girls with us was embarrassed. I slowly opened the door to the sanctuary and looked for a vacant pew. I pointed and told our crew: “There are some seats over there.” That same embarrassed girl then said to me: “But look who is sitting on the row behind that empty pew!” I looked and froze. There sat Billy and Ruth Graham. We put on courage and quickly and quietly sat down in front of them. I noticed Ruth’s warm smile and I felt at ease. I later learned that Dr. Graham worshipped at Montreat Presbyterian when he was not out of town preaching at his crusades. That was the first and only time I was around Billy Graham way before he left this ‘ole earth on February 21, 2018 at the age of 99. Today, you and I still have continual access to someone who goes beyond dignitaries and prominence. From his book Ephesians, Paul declares “He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.” Hebrews 10:19a also tells us we have confidence to enter the presence of God because of the blood of Jesus Christ. What are you doing with your access to the Creator of the universe, the person Jesus and the indwelling Holy Spirit?

hen you look back throughout history, one of the greatest shortfalls for us guys is an overall lack of communication. This glooming failure has been with us since the very beginning, all the way back to Adam and Eve. It has been the cause of arguments, led to problems in the workplace, even led to wars. It is something that we must ultimately and collectively improve upon if we are to effectively spread the gospel and be Godly examples to others in a lost world. James 1:19 says, “Know this my beloved brothers: Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.” Imagine to yourself if every person in every part of the world lived by this one verse! In reality, we do the opposite. We are slow to hear (if we hear at all), quick to speak, and anger quickly and easily. We are so anxious to make our point known in any situation that we, in many cases, have our reply on the tip of our tongue before the other person has finished talking. This leads to frustration, confusion, and usually ends in one or both parties getting angry. We are all encouraged to want to and are taught to express ourselves which is fine, but when it’s done at the expense of others we become a worldly distraction instead of a light in the darkness. We must listen! May it be our wives, our friends, our boss, or even our enemies, we must listen to what they have to say before we even think about replying.

“Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others” (Philippians 2:3-4). When attempting to communicate it is essential to put others before ourselves. God wants us to choose our words wisely, to “rejoice always” as said in 1 Thessalonians 5. To effectively get a point across it must be delivered in the right way. Even if it is a tough subject, it must be delivered with love. Proverbs 15:1-2 states, “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour out folly.” Much can be accomplished simply by listening to others. Even more can be done by answering those in the proper way, softly, wisely, and with love. When you think about it, the perfect example of how to communicate is Jesus Christ. How many times did He reply in anger, even when people were trying to trick Him or back Him into a corner? There was always a reply with love, wisdom, and patience. Our Savior is who we need to be looking to as we attempt to become better communicators to a lost world. He is who we should look to in all situations.
