The Harvest Is Plentiful

In this recent time of uncertainty, what with a global pandemic out there, the church—that’s you and me—has had to find new ways to do church things, like meet and worship. Many churches were already doing an online service, and those that weren’t are now doing so. By now, we have all been introduced to the Zoom meeting or Google hangout. Committees, staff meetings, small groups, and others have been

utilizing various forms of technology to go about church business in an attempt to do things as normally as possible.

As far as the message itself, the Gospel is more accessible right now than at any other time in human history. As I scroll through my various social media news feeds on Sundays, I see a litany of church service live streams, morning and evening, and again on Wednesday nights. That’s great! It’s good that more people see what our church services look like. More people can make an informed decision about which church they may like to attend in person. But why should the view be limited to the church sanctuary?

With numerous social media outlets, YouTube, podcasting, and blogging (all of which can be done for $0), there is no reason that YOU can’t take part in spreading the Gospel. Not a preacher? That’s okay too. It does not have to be a sermon. The world needs to know what it’s like to be a Christian who is also a father, mother, husband, wife, business owner, homeschool parent, schoolteacher, coach, police officer, doctor, lawyer, soldier, and so on. Tell them what it’s like to be that person. The world needs to know! Don’t think you’ve got enough to say? Log on and read a verse of Scripture every day. Offer to take prayer requests or answer questions about God, the Bible, or church. More people than ever in human history are staring at screens. We have the ability and the gifts to leverage that and exemplify the love of Christ on a global scale. YES, even you! Let this be an encouragement for you to use the gifts that God has given you to reach the world with the good news of Jesus Christ!
