The grand majority of Revelation 13 is borrowed language from the prophecy of Daniel 7 and the story of Daniel 3. Care to check it out? Daniel 2 is the backstory of Daniel 3. Nebuchadnezzar went to bed hoping that his mighty Babylon would be an eternal kingdom. Through the prophet Daniel, God told Nebuchadnezzar that the only eternal kingdom would be the Kingdom of Jesus. God knows what our needs are at all times. Hey, as a Christian, we are His children, and He is that loving Father who listens as we commune with Him in prayer. “Do you not understand that whatever goes into the man from outside cannot defile him, because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated?” (Thus He declared all foods clean.) And He was saying, “That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man” (Mark 7:18-20). Rituals like these may seem trivial to you and me, but God takes them very seriously. Any church that adds to, takes away from, or weaves its way in and out of His Word to be seen as having completed works of merit will suffer God's wrath. Moses' two nephews might have testified to this had they not been incinerated for their "special offering." You can read their story in chapters 9 and 10 of Leviticus. As we continue our daily walk with God, may He break our hearts for the misguided and use us to lead His precious children away from false teaching and into the everlasting arms of his son, Jesus Christ.

Death In Spring pring is coming…Time for some cleaning. Remove all the self-doubt, worry, jealousy, regret, anger, guilt, or any other negative emotions that are holding you back from your happy, fulfilled life.” –Nanette Mathews Ahhh…spring is in the air! Beautiful flowers are wanting to peek at the sun, bees and birds are ready to make their joyful noises, and bunnies are hopping quietly and peacefully, all the while sharing the plunder of humanity’s delight within nature with the playful, bright-colored flowers. But then there was hate, guilt, dread, jealousy, idolatry, unforgiveness, gossip, murder, and the list can go on and on. What a way to kill such beauty in a time of what is meant for “rebirth and renewal.” We often drag winter into spring instead of letting the dead of our past stay frozen, never to be defrosted again. The pain we caused or the pain we inflicted or perhaps are still causing and inflicting upon ourselves and others has become soil for the flowers in our lives, poisoning our roots and robbing us of our beauty, preventing us to “shine like the dawn” (Psalm 37:6) or blossom. Once upon a time, we were full of life and fresh air with fewer worries despite our circumstances, positive or negative, but instead, we began to buy from vendors who had come to “steal, kill, and destroy” (John 10:10). What can I say? They are giving more for the money, or should I say offering more appealing displays for the soul. However, we need to remember that “‘I have the right to do anything,’ you say—but not everything is beneficial. ‘I have the right to do anything’—but not everything is constructive” (1 Corinthians 10:23). So while we are lingering in winter and not letting what was past die so we can prepare ourselves for the beauty ahead in spring, we drown in lies that we can’t let the sin in our lives go, that trading it for trust in God is just not worth being happy. We breathe in and absorb venom that threatens healthy relationships or any that could possibly blossom if we had cut off the weeds that choke us to death.
20 // March 2021
So what shall we do to stop winter from trying to take over spring in our lives? Simple to say, but doable—find your joy in the Lord and remember His resurrection. “Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I…then you will find your joy in the Lord, and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land…” (Isaiah 58:9, 14). Isaiah 58 tells
you exactly how to find your joy in the Lord. The New Testament reminds us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son” (John 3:16). Alongside that, death has been conquered by our Savior Jesus Christ: “‘Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:55-56). So if you are failing to bloom for whatever reason, just remember that we have the victory through Christ if we fully trust and be obedient to these words, never forgetting them: “You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail” (Isaiah 58:11). May we blossom. About The Author

In addition, there was the upcoming elections. I am a conservative, a supporter of President Trump, and pro-life. All I saw was negativity, hate, and conflict. I was thankful our economy was doing well, despite COVID, but I didn’t like that my family had not celebrated Easter, birthdays, Thanksgiving, and other holidays together as we have always done in the past. One day, I was expressing all this to my daughter, who gently reminded me that I should have faith: faith that God was in control and that my worry was contradictory to trusting Him in all things. I had to pray, asking Him to forgive my lack of faith and trust in the difficult times. It’s

have in two or three days. Our service department strives daily to get whatever product you bring in for repair taken care of in a timely manner and ready for return. Even in the busy time of year, seldom do we take more than five days to complete a repair. If it takes longer, it’s normally due to waiting on parts from the warehouse. We pride ourselves on turnaround time on equipment because we know the grass continues to grow. Why buy from us? We think it’s simple: value prices on new products, service after the sale, turnaround time on repairs, supporting your local small business and not a big box store, and most importantly, because of your overall customer experience at our dealership. We ask the questions customers come to appreciate. “What size lot are you mowing? What is the terrain: flat, slope, or heavy slope? What are you currently using, and in what ways are you looking to upgrade? Maybe deck width? Maybe reduced time in the seat? Maybe more power?” Let us help you finetune those decisions. When you purchase from us, our units have gone through a checklist to ensure that once you get it home, you are ready to start cutting that lawn. We fuel new units, so you don’t have that extra stop to make before trying out your new machine. As we expand on 2021 offers to our customers, combined with health and safety guidelines for both customers and employees, we now offer texting through our website. Payment options are also available through our site. Here’s an example: You know a part number you need or you can look it up on our site, so you send us a message through our site or even ask us to look it up for you. Once we confirm, you can pay online through our site, and we can process your order and get the part ready. Notify us once
you arrive, and we can bring the part out to you, so you never have to enter the store. People ask us quite often if we work on brands other than what we sell. I always answer, YES we do! As long as parts are accessible to get for the repair, we will take care of you. Whether you’re that homeowner taking care of your yard, that weekend warrior who picks up lawns for extra income on the side, or that commercial cutter looking to be more efficient and profitable, find out why we are your onestop shop to answer any questions and fit your needs. Please stop by our store location at 921 E. Morris St. in Dalton, GA. Or give us a call at 706-226-3126. You can also visit us online at cubcadetofnorthwestgeorgia.com. When you take the time and make an investment in being intentional in building a relationship, you gain the power of influence over your child that cannot be matched by any other parenting effort. The following are a few suggestions I believe will get you started in the right direction: • Learn and speak your child’s love language. “The 5 Love Languages of Children” by Dr. Gary Chapman and Dr. Ross Campbell describes the ways children need to be loved. What have you been asking and believing God for that just because He has not answered, you just stopped asking, just gave up, and stopped being persistent in your prayers? I have spent my life in church. As a result, I’ve
learned a few foundational things: People are messy – even in church. Life is hard – including in church. Care is a key – especially in church. But here’s a particularly disturbing thing I’ve noticed over the years. The higher up in leadership someone seems to be, the less likely they are to receive the attentive care they need from those around them. It’s actually a principle that seems to penetrate all sectors of life. People who hold leadership positions (pastors, principals, CEO’s, supervisors, etc.) seem to juggle some of life’s heaviest loads while receiving the least amount of personal care within their professional circles. The old saying, “It’s lonely at the top” seems to apply. Most of us assume those in supervisory positions are

In churches, for example, it’s expected that pastors should be pouring out their hearts, souls, and lives into their congregations and their communities. That’s what they’re “called” to do, isn’t it? Yet, as people – flesh and blood
Those two ideas are just the tip of the iceberg! My hope is that this helps all of us become more aware of those “over” us who seem to care for us so naturally. Maybe we can extend that same grace and care back to them. “Carry one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2).
just like the rest of us. How can we help? How can we demonstrate care to them?

The Pledge of Allegiance

ike all dedicated parents, my husband and I tried our best to attend as many of our children’s extracurricular activities as possible. It was darned near impossible to do them all, with so many children doing different things, but as the older ones moved out, it was easier to spend more time with the younger ones. Four of my five children played the trombone in the school band, and when my middle child, Sarah, marched in the high school band, we volunteered to run the concession stand at all of the home games. Boy, were we dumb! Just kidding: we actually had a good time doing it, for the most part. On one particular day, I learned a very valuable lesson (which is almost always at a dear cost). Since I had the most gregarious personality, I was the front-person. Like a true carnie, I would screech from the confines of the concession stand, “Get your hotdogs, popcorn, and cold drinks here!” To everyone’s delight, the sales were always at their peak when I “encouraged” passers-by to partake of our delicious wares. This day was excruciatingly hot, and we really wanted to sell a lot of our frozen drinks. They had a great profit margin, and I was willing to do whatever it took to make more money for our band students. I felt indebtedness to the band that had on so many occasions allowed my children, who could not afford the uniforms, training camps, and annual competition trips, to partake just as if they could afford it. I truly felt obligated to put as much money back in the coffers as I possibly could to repay what had so graciously been given to my children. They benefitted in many ways: from the camaraderie and striving for common goals to the search for their place in the world. I felt an allegiance to this school band. I was having the time of my life yelling at the top of my lungs to anyone who would listen when I was struck by the sudden silence and stillness of everyone around me. They were in a sort of reverent stance, and they were all facing me! What had I done? I cannot even begin to tell you how mortified I was to learn that everyone’s sudden
40 // March 2021
reverence was in fact geared toward the flagpole mounted on the hill behind the concession stand. They had all stood silent before reciting the pledge of allegiance to the flag of our country! My shouts had reverberated in their sudden silence, and I wanted to crawl beneath the closest rock and hide.
Like my allegiance to the school band, I feel an even stronger allegiance to my country, so I was mortified at my own dishonor of this moment. Now, though, my heart is pondering a different question. Do I revere and give honor to the allegiance I have to my Lord? Do I, in every circumstance, stop everything to set aside a time in every day in which I honor my Lord? Does my allegiance to my Lord bring me to tears like my allegiance to my country? Do I stand proudly to declare my allegiance and invite others to do the same? Let us shout a resounding “yes” to Him who deserves our allegiance. Let us never forget our allegiance to Him. “Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: As surely as I live, I will bring down on his head my oath that he despised and my covenant that he broke. I will spread my net for him, and he will be caught in my snare. I will bring him to Babylon and execute judgment upon him there because he was unfaithful to me” (Ezekiel 17:19-20).

o matter what time of year it is, being in my kitchen always reminds me of my grandmother. We would stay in there for what seemed like hours. We would
sing songs, talk about school, and sometimes even talk about boys! We talked about heaven and who we hoped to see there: just about anything that you could imagine, we talked about it! (We even cooked and baked a little too!) I pray that one day I will have those special talks with my grandkids too! My 4-year-old grandson already has the same love of the kitchen that we did! My favorite place to be is in the kitchen baking, no matter what time of year. I LOVE making special desserts that coincide with the time of year it is. In February, I like to make pink or red; in March, I like to make green or yellow; in April, I like to make pastels; you get my drift. Since March and April are both great months for something GREEN, I wanted to share this delicious and easy recipe with you. It’s perfect for a little green to keep from being pinched on the 17th or delicious as a dessert with your Easter dinner.
Ingredients/Instructions • 1 box white cake mix • 1 cup whole milk • 1 stick butter, melted • 3 large eggs • 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract • 1 Tbsp. lime juice • 1 small box lime Jell-O mix Mix all ingredients together and bake in greased Bundt pan for 40 minutes or until done. Let cool completely. Frosting/Glaze: • ½ stick butter, softened • 4 oz. cream cheese, softened • 2 cups confectioner’s sugar • 1 tsp. vanilla • 1 Tbsp. lime juice • 1-2 Tbsp. milk or water (or more if you want a thinner frosting/glaze)

The most important thing is to get it done. Screening saves lives!

A doctor removes any polyps discovered during this exam. When should you be screened? People at average risk for colorectal cancer should first be screened at age 50. People at higher risk for colorectal cancer—such as African Americans or those with a family history of the disease—should be screened earlier than age 50. The verse that appeared in my devotional today is Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.” This verse is the perfect example of my hope when I ask God to intervene during my struggles. I can trust His faithfulness. As I continue to work on spring cleaning, I can focus on this verse reminding me that faith is trusting what I cannot see. My goal this spring is to spring free in faith. Learning to trust God when I feel like I am incapable of completing any task sets me free from self-burden.
