He could have given them theological and historical writings to let them know where they came from and where He was taking

Just what can we learn from that wilderness tabernacle from so long ago? We can see God’s plan of salvation clearly depicted! We can see predicted the life and suffering of Jesus in order to save us from our sins! Combined with the prophecies of Daniel and the Revelation, the sanctuary unlocked for Jesus and His early church followers an understanding of the Messiah’s role and purpose! And as we study the sanctuary service, with its various rites specified by the ceremonial law, we see a depiction of how our Savior has and is working to save

Science and Christianity

s a mother, and an educator, I have learned that science is not the enemy of Christianity, but the confirmation of God’s wonderful plan of creation. Here are some fun things you can do with your children to teach them some simple scientific principals as well as God’s amazing ways. 1. Bubbles and Balls: Using several different bubble wands, show the children that no matter the shape of the wand, bubbles are always round. The reason they are round is that bubbles are shaped by the air pressure around it. God doesn’t want us to be shaped by our world, but for us to remain the way he made us, like a rubber ball. Eventually, a bubble will break because the pressure outside becomes greater

4. Diversity Lesson: Take several hard boiled eggs, and dye them different colors. After they dry, peel them and show the children that on the inside, they all look the same. Then explain how God created us all differently and yet on the inside, we are all the same. 5. Salt Makes a Difference: Using a ¼ cup Epsom Salt, and ¼ cup warm water, in a clear cup stir until the salt is dissolved and then add a few

than the pressure inside. A solid rubber ball doesn’t lose its shape.

3. Penny Polishing: Find some dirty pennies, and place them in a clear cup. Cover them with lemon juice and let them soak for 10 minutes, then clean them off with a paper towel. They will look brand new! This is a chance to let children know that God can take our dirty hearts and make them clean with His Love!

drops of food coloring. Place the cup in the refrigerator until crystals begin to form (about 4 hours). Spoon the crystals out on a paper plate. Jesus tells us to be salt and light in our world, so that the world can see that adding Jesus to our lives makes a difference. I hope you’ll take advantage of these activities to make a teachable moment with your children. (These are especially good on those rainy days!)

2. Chalk in Buttermilk: Soak small pieces of colored chalk in buttermilk for about an hour, then let the children color either on black paper or on the sidewalk and note how much brighter the colors are, and that they change color as they dry. When we “soak” ourselves in God’s word and His teachings, it makes a difference in us, and how the world sees us.

Gò0dNews for Women

Women Will You Answer the Call? by Dr. Pat Gross

14 // June 2018

Women, when life's journey brings on trails, troubles, tribulations and struggles that seems unbearable, God ask the question, "Behold, I am Lord, the God of all flesh, Is there anything too hard or difficult for Me?" (Jeremiah 32:27). The answer is, No there's nothing too hard for God; just trust God and His word.

Always remember that God has a perfect plan for each of our lives; however, He didn't say we will not be tired. He did say, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to proper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11). In closing, women seek ye first the kingdom of God above all else and live righteously. He will give you everything you need to move forward (Matthew 6:33). Women, will you answer the call and take your rightful position in ministry? Lord, help us to go into the hedges and highways to win souls to Christ. May this word encourage you today and always.

About The Author

P

lease know, women of God, when God calls you, He equips, enables, provides, and qualifies us to do His will. You must know that He will never abandon us to figure it out on our own or without God's strength. So don't fear or fret it; God is with us always (Hebrews 13:21). God always provides the skills, abilities, direction, and protection that we need when He calls us out. God said, "Be still and know that I am God! Listen to my voice.” I am very sure of this, that he who begun a good work in you, He will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6). Women, stop sitting around twittling your thumbs with uncertainty, doubt, nay-sayers, jealousy; friends walk away, don't worry. God is saying, I called you and yes you can! Always listen to the voice of Jesus who called, chose, appointed, and anointed you to tell the good news about Christ Jesus! You, believe the report the Lord! Just do it! We can believe God by being obedient to His commandments and His will. For this is the work of God, that you believe in Him who sent you (John 6:29). You must continue to walk by faith and not by sight. Rejoice always because you have perfect confidence in God (1 Corinthians 7:16). May God continue to bless us daily with grace and new mercies that we may do His will. Lord, thank you, for always being there for us and keeping us on track, for helping us focus and providing all our needs and some of our desires. I will trust in you Lord with all my heart (Proverbs 3:5-6). Lord you are our strength and shield for that our hearts are filled with joy and thanksgiving and He will do the same for you (Psalms 28:7).

Hummus from Home by Evan Tyler Fox

I

was working out in northern Utah just above Salt Lake City. I was on my lunch break and had plans to meet up with a friend and grab a bite to eat. We met up, started catching up on small talk, and (I don’t remember exactly how it happened) the next thing I know he pulled out this small, round container and some tortilla chips and starts chowing down. It didn’t look quite like any dip I had seen before. My curiosity lead to questioning and upon further investigation I learned the name of this mysterious condiment – hummus. That was my first encounter with hummus, and though I didn’t know it at first, it definitely would not be my last. As a guy from small town Tennessee, it took me a time or two to eventually get warmed up to hummus. But, I must say, now it’s one of my go-to appetizer options, not only for its simplicity, but also for its nutritional qualities. You’re going to love this recipe; it’s perfect for parties, picnics, travels, or just plain, ole healthy comfort food. It can be used as a dip for veggies or crackers, as well as a spread on sandwiches or wraps. Enjoy!

Gò0dNews for Everyone

Father, Child, and Unconditional Love any times in this journey of life we feel certain that we know our love ones and all they stand for. This was my experience until I received a very special gift from God. This gift began to unveil itself on May 30, 2015. Little did I know, this began the last 17 days of my daddy’s earthly life. My father exemplified a life that lived to honor and follow Christ in all he did. He lived compassion, honesty, joy, meekness, a controlled strength, and was faithful to his calling as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It was during these last 17 days of his life that I truly understood the blessings I had been afforded by having this man as my father. Of all these blessings, one of the best was being a “preacher’s kid.” I learned about compassion, commitment, and dedication watching Daddy as he shepherded these churches. Because of Daddy’s ministry, I have been blessed to have so many people in my life. Many have stayed in my life, some passed through my life for a short time, but all touched my life and I am forever blessed by their presence. Daddy had a way of guidance and discipline that left you feeling stronger and braver after the incident was over. One such memory came to mind during those last 17 days with Daddy. As a young teen, I had a piano recital and for this recital the teacher gave us the option of memorizing our music or using the sheet music. As I shared this information with Daddy, he encouraged me to rethink my choice of using my sheet music. He realized that the teacher may be using this assignment as a way to see who would go to extra lengths to do their very best. I assured him that my music piece was difficult and it would be better to use my music. Daddy gently reminded me of Proverbs 3:5-6 (his favorite scripture).

20 // June 2018

The evening arrived and with a new dress, new shoes, hair done at the beauty shop, and music in my hand, I took the stage. Taking my seat on the piano bench I begin to play. All went well until I turned the page. With the motion of turning the page, my music took a leap off the piano and landed on the floor! I had to retrieve my music and then continue to play my

piece. One word describes this scene…devastation! As we arrived home, everyone had a comment about my demise, except Daddy. I felt unconditional love from Daddy! As I reflect upon this memory, it reminds me of the unconditional love of my Savior. When I choose a wrong path or choice He is there to forgive and redeem me. His love for me never wavers. He may be disappointed, but His love for me is always there. “From the fullness of His grace I have received one blessing after another” (John 1:16). About The Author

Two Life-Changing Decisions

ave you ever had to make a difficult decision that would require personal sacrifice and be emotionally gut-wrenching? Imagine having to make such a decision at a young and vulnerable age. At the 2017 Bethany Christian Services banquet, Stephanie Bacon and Evie West shared their stories of unexpected pregnancy and choosing adoption. Stephanie was a pastor’s daughter. She started dating a boy in youth group and became pregnant. As a young teen who didn’t have a job or a driver’s license, she thought adoption was the best alternative for her baby. “I knew all along I wanted an open adoption. I wanted a connection to my son. I got their profile, I looked through their pictures, I read their letter, and I talked to them. I loved the idea of this family. When I had him, he was four weeks early. They took him to the neonatal intensive care unit and that is where he stayed until released. I believe if I would have had him in the room with me, it would have been very difficult. God knew what I needed in that moment.” Stephanie had heard of Bethany Christian Services in Chattanooga, and she learned that they have a birth parent support group. “I thought, how cool is that? We definitely need support. Even 18 years later, we still need support to get through our adoption.” Stephanie met with the Bethany birth parent group and was able to connect with other birth moms in the support group. Stephanie has been able to share her story and meets with high school girls and others who are going through the struggle she went through. Evie West was brought up by Christian parents in a sheltered upbringing. In high school, she was introduced to gang life. After becoming pregnant and having her son, she thought she would give up the gang

22 // June 2018

life. Finding out the responsibility of parenting was not for her, a week later she left him with a baby sitter and returned to school and her former behavior. “I turned back to doing all the things that I wanted to do- smoking dope, drinking, partying, and this gang lifestyle.” Later attending Lee University, Evie rededicated her life to Christ and began reading her Bible and spending time with God. She found out for the second

time she was pregnant. “I was singing for Lee Choir, I went out of town, I met a lady who had come up to me and loved on me and through divine intervention the Lord spoke to her and said I was pregnant.” This kind woman found her a doctor, helped her get insurance and financial assistance. Later on, she asked Evie if she had considered adoption. “I think placing my [second] son for adoption was the best decision that I could have ever made for him. It was difficult, but it was not such a difficult decision that God cannot heal and prove Himself faithful as He does in every situation.”

Gò0dNews for Health & Fitness 6 Ways to Stay Active in the Summer Heat here are so many wonderful ways to stay active while beating the summer heat. Here are six to get you started: Take your workout to the pool. Enjoy the sun while staying cool in the pool by doing an aquatics workout. By running in the water, a 130-pound person can burn an average of 472 calories per hour. As a bonus, the low-impact nature of the water is gentler on your joints than running on land. Enjoy evening activities. The summer months mean longer day-light hours, so take your family on an evening outing, after the temperature has cooled down a bit. Head to the park, or go on a walk through your neighborhood after dinner to get some exercise in before bed. After the sun has set, spend some time outdoors catching lightening bugs or playing a night game such as light-up Frisbee or hide and seek. Go on a hike. Not only is hiking beneficial to your mental health by getting you out in nature, it is also a great way to stay active during the summer. For a 160-pound person, hiking for an hour can burn an estimated 440 calories, and by wearing a light day-pack, an additional 50-100 calories can be burned; the more challenging the terrain and incline of the hiking trail, the more calories that will be burned. Since hiking trails are generally shaded by the trees and foliage, hiking is a great summer activity to keep you moving without overheating and being in the direct sunlight. Just remember to always stay hydrated and to wear sunscreen and/or sunprotecting clothing. Spend some time on the water. While the weather is warm, try some new activities in the water. Head to your local river rental store and try kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, or water bikes. Not only will you get a great workout, but you will have fun doing it! Go on an afternoon adventure. Head to a local park or college campus and ride

bikes for a simple, inexpensive afternoon adventure! Pack a backpack with a blanket and some snacks, and have a picnic to take a break and rehydrate during your afternoon fun. Enjoy the sunrise/sunset. During the summer, once the sun comes up, the heat starts to rise. If you generally like to walk or run for your daily exercise, you may need to do so earlier or later in the day to avoid the heat. Perks of getting an earlier, or later, start is getting to enjoy the sunrise or sunset. Just keep in mind that being out in lower light conditions makes you less visible, so remember to wear bright and reflective clothes!

Whether you already have an exciting, active summer planned, or you need some ideas to get your summer going, we have plenty of resources at the Bradley Wellness Center. We offer several Kids Camps throughout the summer, monthly hiking groups, morning running groups, and numerous other activities. With our free childcare, you can bring your children to the gym with you, allowing you to get your workout in—even when the kids are out of school! Come by the Bradley Wellness Center today to get started!

pon a hill, woven into the pines and hardwoods

of the Fort Mountain valley, lays a barn. The barn and the land it sits on is part of an original farm,

home to some of the first settlers in Murray County. This land is rich in family history and has witnessed nearly two hundred years of family memoirs. The barn was originally known as Peeples Pavilion at Peeples Farm. It was built by Harlan Peeples, greatgrandson to Drewry Mortimer Peeples, the first of the family to settle in Murray County. From family reunions to square dances, the pavilion was a lively host to all who appeared. Over time, the pavilion and some of the land around it was sold to a bank and was used as an event center. When it was put up for sale Clay Freeman, the 3rd great-grandson of Drewry Peeples, who lives on the original farm with his father Mike Freeman, jumped at the opportunity to add old family land back to the farm. To understand the profound cultivation of the farm and fathom the hours of work the family put into this land, let’s backtrack a few generations.

26 // June 2018

The Family

In Psalms 32:8 it reads, “The LORD says, “I will guide

you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” Murray County has quite a long line of pioneer families that have settled and homesteaded this area of northwest Georgia. In my opinion, this verse has been carried in the hearts of many of these families. The family that I have come to know and love, the Peeples, have a godly heritage that can be seen with just the naked eye and a good ear. Using their selves as a service to others and caretakers of their land, God certainly guided the people of the Peeples down a fine path. Drewry Mortimer Peeples was one of the first settlers in Murray County in 1832. With his earnest character and initiative to provide for his family, he worked on his land and expanded the estate. He built the first Mt. Zion church in Chatsworth in 1832 and was said to be a “leading citizen, large landholder, and an active churchman.” Going down

piece of the farm to the puzzle. Mindful of the pavilion’s antiquatedness and foreseeing a potential new direction, Clay renovated the building from the inside out. Updating the kitchen, opening the ceiling, and renewing outdated features of the interior; Harlan Acres is restored to its finest appearance. The renovation of the building is just the start. Clay has more ideas for the venue and has even talked of digging a lake. Clay said, “I enjoy the challenge of taking the ideas I have for a piece of property, especially land that holds family value, and turning it into what I envisioned.” the line, the expedient traits Drewry possessed presumably passed down to his grandson, Isaac Mortimer Peeples. “Mort” was described as a remarkable man and was certainly loved by everyone he met. Raising 14 children on the farm with his wife Leona Ratcliff, he was a devout family man. His granddaughter, Ms. Gloria Calfee Freeman, said her Granddaddy was her everything. From checking cows down in the creek bottoms to planting and helping with the family’s produce company, she recalls some of her fondest memories with her Granddaddy. Mort recognized the importance of the land and the values it brought to the family. Gloria remembers Mort telling her “Land is the only thing a person can own that is worth any value”.

A Ceremonial Solace

Today, Harlan Acres offers little limitation to your

imagination. A fully climate-controlled floor of 3900 square feet, along with a full service kitchen, restrooms, and plenty of parking awaits you. Enjoy the intimate georgic setting to say your “I Do’s” or embellish the secluded countryside for your next reunion. Whether you are a first time guest or an old visitor, Harlan Acres and Peeples Farm are happy to see you.

The Pavilion

Harlan Peeples and his wife, Virginia Wilbanks

Peeples, built the pavilion in May of 1988. Originally built for family reunions and birthdays, it soon transitioned to the home of the Fort Mountain Squares. Hosting square dances and holding club functions, the Pavilion was in full swing. From 1988 to 2002, Peeples Pavilion entertained and accommodated all who turned up. After a few years, First National Bank of Chatsworth purchased the pavilion and used it for community events and reunions. When the pavilion and land turned up for sale in the fall of 2016, Clay purchased the plot; returning the missing

rowing up, I remember thinking how great my father was. How smart, how talented, how kind, how perfect he was. Being older now, and looking back, I think about him and realize he wasn’t perfect, but he was really close! When my three girls were young and growing up, I often remember thinking I wish I was as great a father as my father was. He set such a high standard of integrity, and raised such a high bar of character and love. What a legacy he left and what a name to try and live up to! Speaking of leaving a legacy, we find in Genesis 17, that God speaks to Abram and changes his name to Abraham. God also informs him that he will be a father of many nations, and that He would establish a covenant between Himself, Abraham, and his descendants. No difficulty living up to that standard and name, huh?! What could possibly go wrong there? Now, I know that Abraham’s life and decisions were far from perfect, however, we read later in scripture, that God calls Abraham His friend, and that he was highly recognized, recommended, and even renowned for his great faith. What seems to be an impossible standard to reach in men’s eyes, turns out to be a success in the eyes of the Lord. Speaking of high standards, imagine having to live up to the ultimate name of Jesus, the Messiah, the Son of God. That same name that causes storms to cease, makes demons tremble and flee, heals bodies and souls, and eventually brings every kingdom to its knees. Imagine trying to live to that standard, and live up to that name. Wow! Not just anyone could do that. It would take someone very special. Someone worthy of not only the calling, but worthy of the opportunity. The one referred to as the only begotten son of the Father. The one who humbled Himself and came to earth to be an example for us. And the one to whom the Father looked down upon and said, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I

30 // June 2018

am well pleased” (Mark 1:11, NKJV). He was worthy, He is worthy, and He forever will be worthy, and He continues to live up to that name. And here is an awesome truth: so can you. You can live up to the name God has given you, the calling He has given you, and yes, even the opportunity He

has given you. No matter your history, good or bad. No matter your story, good or bad. No matter your training or lack thereof, good or bad, you can leave a great legacy, and you can live up to your great name! Jesus doesn’t look at your failures and disappointments, he looks at your potential and at what He sees as His finished product. So, be encouraged fathers, for although you are not perfect, you are considered a friend of our Heavenly Father, and worthy of all He has for you. Strive to be the great father your kids believe you are, and leave a legacy with them worth leaving, and they too will carry on your name!

hey say it’s the hardships of life that form our true character. If that’s true, then Americans who were born between the two World Wars have certainly earned their character badges. For this, we call them the “Greatest Generation”. Because they made the world a better place for us, we’re committed to making the world a better place for them. Honoring the Greatest Generation is part of our mission here at Legacy Village. In fact, serving this generation is our mission. In carrying out that mission, we hope to uphold the values handed down to us by the Greatest Generation in every possible way. Who is the Greatest Generation? You’ve probably heard the term before. It was coined almost twenty years ago by Tom Brokaw. Former anchor and managing editor of the NBC News, Mr. Brokaw published his best-selling book, The Greatest Generation, in 1998. By doing so, he forever set the phrase in our hearts and minds. While the phrase may be familiar, but have you ever stopped to wonder what makes this group of people ‘The Greatest Generation?’ Four Factors Contributing to the Formation of the Greatest Generation 1. Momentous Changes This generation lived through the Great Depression, World War II, and then on into one of the most the prosperous eras in the history of our nation. 2. Work Ethic Perhaps because of having lived through the Great Depression, this generation knows a thing or two about working hard. On top of that, they lived through the years of World War II and appreciate stability. 3. Frugality The combination of living during the Great Depression and experiencing war-time rationing means

34 // June 2018

many in this generation are well-versed in frugal living. They learned to make due. They also learned creativity in the face of scarcity. 4. Sacrifice and Honor Many gave of themselves during World War II, to the extent that they lost life or limb. The war was truly all-encompassing for this generation at that time.

The Battle of the Bulge, for example, is considered by military experts to be the greatest in the nation’s history. United as a country in the face of evil, the greatest generation came together to sacrifice what they could to make the world a better place. How Can We Better Serve the Greatest Generation? Working in the senior living industry, I strive to give the greatest generation a sense of purpose. Finding a purpose can mean so many different things to different people. It can be gardening, cooking brownies, singing in Bible study or just participating in daily activities. Finding each individual’s purpose is a big reason as to why I do what I do.

Gò0dNews for Fathers

Fathers Make a Difference

ost fathers sincerely want to do a good job raising their children and preparing them for life, but are not certain how to do that. In Ephesians 6:4 Paul provides two basic practices that if followed consistently, will help men fulfill their mission as fathers. While the practices are directed primarily to fathers, they can be applied by parents, grandparents, and anyone who has the opportunity to invest in the lives of young people. However, these instructions

being addressed to fathers remind us that fathers are to be involved in raising the children. The first statement describes what fathers should avoid while the second statement describes what parents should actively pursue in raising children. The first bit of advice Paul offers fathers is to avoid provoking their children to anger. This does not mean that fathers should never do anything their children dislike, but that fathers are to avoid practices that lead children to frustration, feeling that they can never please them. Therefore, parents must build relationships with their children. The old saying, “Rules without relationship equals rebellion,” is true. This involves spending time with children sometimes doing fun things and other times just hanging out. Fathers also

36 // June 2018

provoke their children to anger and frustration when they are lacking critical communication styles. Sincere praise and appreciation should be offered when the children have done commendable things and also for no apparent reason. Fathers should commend their children and let them know that their father is proud of them and loves them. That pride and love should be stated in clear language. Fathers are sometimes uncomfortable expressing their feelings in words, but children need to hear those words. The second word of advice for fathers is to teach their children about the Lord and his instructions for life. Some of this instruction is deliberate conversation about important issues, while much of it involves casual conversation. In Deuteronomy 6:4-5, God gave the great confession of faith to Israel. It was the declaration that the LORD was one God in contrast to the idol gods of the Canaanites, and that they were to love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, and strength. The Lord instructed the fathers to teach this great truth diligently to their children. While there is a place for formal instruction, life’s greatest lessons are often learned during the routine events of life. The Lord commanded the Jewish fathers to talk of their faith when they fulfilled the routine activities of life. Conversations between a father and his children should be relaxed and personal. Men often struggle with this, but children need to hear their fathers talk of their faith. The Book of Proverbs is a great example of a father discussing the important issues of life with his son. The phrase, “My son” appears twenty-three times in Proverbs as Solomon discusses the great issues of life with his son. Fathers play a vital role in preparing children for life and eternity.

Paul is not saying he will drop his convictions. However, he “became as a Jew” … (and like those) “under the law” so that he “might win the more” (v. 19-20). I believe Paul is saying he will practice friendship or relational evangelism, and will do so by engaging with those who are lost by using, within principle, whatever means are necessary. Friendship evangelism is becoming appropriately “engaged” with those we discern to be unbelievers. As we become friends and open up, the person who has yet to profess Christ can see how we handle life's ups and downs, the good and the tough, and how we navigate through these times. Gò0dNews for Everyone Sons and Daughters of the Most-High God uke 15:11-32 says that God’s love for me is not based on what I believe about me nor what I believe about Him. It’s based on who He is (love) and who I am to Him (son of God). We have a true story, as told by Jesus, of a Father with two sons and the younger one asked His Father to give him his inheritance. This is an amazing story Jesus shares; it conveys so many facets of God the Father, his grace, unconditional love, redemption, restoration, forgiveness, and how He sees us as sons and daughters. Yet after studying this, something kept bothering me. I read verses 14-17 and some statements caused this unsettling in my heart. Verse 14 reads, “And when He had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in the land; and He began to be in want.” Verse 17 reads, “And when He came to himself…” Years ago while studying this chapter, I felt in my heart a clear picture of addiction was painted. He was in want. He left home wanting and now, after he spent all he had, his want reappeared. After the high and hype of his want, like an addict, he finds himself trying to get back to the original encounter and feeling. But the one that seemed to have a lingering effect on my heart was verse 17, He came to himself. I have heard many sermons on this verse and very good ones, yet it just didn’t settle in my spirit. While studying last year, the pieces of the picture began to make sense. The son knew his position as a son, but he didn’t believe he was a son. When a person has an identity crisis they seem

40 // June 2018

to always have something to prove. You do what you believe. Many today know their position but don’t walk in the function of this belief. Our function identifies our position not vice versa. Example: you can tell who a mother is by what she is doing, not by her standing in the middle of a room declaring, “I’m the mother.” I heard clearly in my heart, “What did He come to?” Luke 15:17 says, “And when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!’” (KJVS). He came to himself the question of how did he see himself. I believe he saw himself as a servant. Notice a lot of their focus is on the servants. He knew one thing but believed another. Many are reading this message and it identifies with you as it did with me. Remember, as he returned, He was received by the Father, restored by the Father, and reaffirmed his position as a son by the Father. God’s love for me is not based on what I believe about me, nor what I believe about Him. It’s based on who He is (love) and who I am to Him (sons of God). John 1:12 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” I must believe He is Father. The lost son returned to His father. You too can be received, restored, and placed in your proper position as the sons and daughters of the most-high God.

Are Your Legs Ready For Summer? By: Michelle Turner

W

arm weather is finally here! If you wish your legs were free of spider or varicose veins, now is the time to schedule an appointment with the experts at Hamilton Vascular Center. Hamilton Vascular Center is led by vascular surgeons Michael Hartley, MD, and Hector Dourron, MD, who have vast experience in evaluating and treating vascular issues. This is extremely important when dealing with varicose veins, because the problems can be more than cosmetic. The good news is, with treatment, your legs can be ready for summer in as little as only one or two visits. Spider Vein Removal How does laser treatment work? Spider veins are treated through a cosmetic laser that emits a prescribed dose of energy to the vein. The laser selectively targets the problem veins while sparing surrounding areas. After treatment, the appearance of the vessel will be naturally reduced. How many treatments are required? Typically, only one or two treatments are required and results can be seen in three to four weeks. Treatment time usually varies between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the size of the area treated.

44 // June 2018

Does treatment hurt? Laser treatment causes only minimal discomfort. Any redness or swelling is typically gone within a day. Normal activities can be resumed immediately. Additional Services In addition to spider vein removal and minimally invasive varicose vein removal, Hamilton Vascular Center offers laser hair removal. Laser hair removal is available for your face, underarms, legs, back, bikini line, and chest. Treatment takes approximately 5 to 30 minutes. Four or more sessions are typically suggested. The best news is, there is little to no discomfort and no downtime.
