Be encouraged and know that your LABOR in the ministry is not in vain. . Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Welcome to this Special Edition of Good News Magazine. Last summer, I was tasked with the honor to feature The Mighty Traveling Stars for their 63rd Anniversary Celebration. This task was bestowed on me by our ministry Chaplin, Pastor Karla Bowick. She shared their amazing history with me and I had the privilege to meet most of the members. We scheduled a photo op, I watched them rehearse and was fired up to tell their story. However circumstances did not allow it at that time. Although I was extremely disappointed I knew in my heart that God would align the timing. After waiting patiently I am happy to say the timing is now. I am excited to introduce to some, and present to others the now 64 years of history of the Mighty Traveling Stars.
In the month of September we celebrate Labor Day. This annual celebration was established to celebrate the social and economic achievements of American workers. With that being said I'd also like to celebrate fellow Christian workers. At times laboring in ministry can be more time consuming, stressful and at times less rewarding than laboring on a 9 to 5 job. When this happens I encourage you to know that your work is not in vain. And do not get weary of doing good, for in due season you will reap God’s reward if you do not give up.
My labor in the ministry is to spread the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I find joy in sharing the amazing stories of the wonderful folks who are doing good and great things in their ministry and community. Even in doing so there have been times when I felt like doing good should not be so hard. When encountered with these sorts of challenges I am reminded that through endurance and through the encouragement of the scriptures there is hope and I must continue to spread the Good News.
God’s blessings,

The Mighty Traveling Star's mission has been the This group was organized by the late David Miller along with his brothers Waymon Miller and friend Willie Lee Jackson. From their start in 1960 they shared their music with a widespread audience, from the choir stands of small-town churches to stages across the states and venues in between for the past 64 years, they have seen opened doors, changed lives (including their own), and overall, undeniable evidence of the enduring nature of God and His Word despite the trouble of the world around us today.
During that time, they had many members come and go and have gone through many transitions to include the passing of its founders Waymon, David and Willie. Their only brother John was left in the group. Having his brother's vision in his heart and knowing the role he easy he stepped up and kept the group going until his By the grace of God their legacy did not stop there.
