Deacon Tony Reeves ony Reeves was once a no-nonsense street hustler and drug dealer who knows what it is like to feel trapped in sin. Now an ordained deacon, Reeves wants those struggling to make a change to know God hears their prayers.

Reeves was born on October 12, 1963 in Tampa, Florida and is one of seven children to the late Joyce Jewel Lott. As a young child, Reeves watched his mother struggle to care for him and his siblings so he decided to fill the shoes of his absent father and provide for his family. With his skill for outwitting and his ability to muscle any opponent, he dropped out of Jefferson High and transitioned to a life of crime.

As a young child, Reeve's family occasionally attended St. John M. B Church. As life progressed, his visits ceased.

However, looking back, Reeves stated God did not give up on him.

As an adult, Reeves became involved in illegal activities such as selling drugs and all the cons that came with the lifestyle to include hard time in prison. During his life of crime, Reeves stated he has witnessed the unimaginable and knows without an shadow of doubt his life was spared by God’s saving grace. “I knew back then God was saving me for something, he had work for me to do.”

Reeves recalls when God began to work in his life, “I was sitting in the back seat of a police car when God spoke to me, I heard the voice of the Lord loud and clear. He said... Tony, it’s over.” At that moment, Reeves stated he felt a since of forgiveness, freedom and deliverance. After serving his complete sentencing, Reeves was given a chance at earning an honest living and was hired by Metal Burke as general labor, now twenty-seven years later, Reeves now works a supervisor.

Having surrendered his life totally to Christ, Reeves is following the direction of his Pastor Dr. Henry J. Lyons and is faithfully serving at New Salem M. B. Church as a Deacon, President of Men of Distinction, he sings with the male choir Voices of Power and serves as an Usher, member of Security and with the Culinary Ministry. He also serves as the National President of Men of Distinction for the National Trusted Partners for Christ and as the State President of Men of Distinction for the General Baptist State Convention of Florida; all of the leadership of his pastor Dr. Henry J. Lyons.

Now Reeves says with confidence, "Jesus Christ is real." I have been converted and I have been redeemed.”

Reeves states to those who are wondering if God can pull them out of their situations: "Yes he can! Use me as an example… I’m just one of those people God has got a hold on."

Now on his new Christian journey Reeves is on a mission to make a difference in people’s lives the way God has made a difference in his life. He strives to become a helping hand for others living hard lives and all in need of help.

Reeves holds to his favorite scripture, Psalm 23, his life’s motto, “Live Life On Life’s Turn”, and favorite song, I Believe by Mali Music. His late mother, his pastor and his brethren in Christ Dr. Gilbert W. Stewart all inspire him to continue to be a good steward for the Lord.

Reeves is a laid back, humble man who enjoys spending time with the love of his life, his wife for twenty-six years Patricia, their six children Antnioe, Larry, Deauvis, Keith, Demetrius and Tyee and with their thirty-six grandchildren. He also enjoys watching movies and maintaining his lawn.

Blessings are:

Blessing is a gift of God. For it is He Who is the blesser, and the one who bestows life out of his mouth into his creation.

The blessing of God is his life for all living creatures and for all living souls.

An opportunity to start over without prejudice. The beginning of a new period or step.

James 1:16, 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, cometh down from the father of lights, with whom is no variableness neither, shadow of turning.

Man blesses God when he praise and give thanks for his goodness and favor. Man blesses other men by praying and laying on of hand upon him.

The blessings of the Lord God is added to the believer after the believer seek the kingdom of the righteousness of the Lord God first.

Proverbs 10:6 Blessings crown the head of the righteous, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked. (NIV) Genesis 49:25 May the God of your father help you; may the Almighty bless you with the blessings of the heavens above, and blessings of the watery depths below, and blessings of the breasts and womb.

As the old hymn says...time is filled with swift transition, and the swift transitions often tosses us to and fro. Being tossed day after day we go through various emotions, and we even go as far as to question "where is God"?

Tracy Melendez In my last entry, I encouraged you to create your own Faith Statement, here are three promising scriptures that will continually empower you.: Numbers 23:19, Isaiah 55:11 and Jeremiah 29:11 .

Whatever it is you have prayed for, planning, hoping and believing for....God's people say this to yourself.... God's plan is for me to prosper; it will not return to Him void, it will accomplish that which it was sent and God is not a man that He should not lie.

When you empower yourself with God's word you don't have to wonder "where He is"....you'll know, because when you hide His word in your heart you already know He's near because He said He'll never leave you nor forsake you.

Hobbies: Watching Baseball, & Football and spending quality family time with his loving daughter Tangela Love.

Favorites: Hymn: Amazing Grace; Scriptures: Psalms 23 & John 3:16 Faithful Servant: Bro. Clary has lived a life of services as a servant to the masses. At the age of 18 he worked as a police officer in Quincy, FL; at 21, he enlisted in the USA Army proudly served his country for nine years. Bro. Clary has also studied himself approved unto God, by completing a series of biblical classes & courses and has received certificates of completions for all of them. This accomplishment has earned him the ability to evangelize and teach the word of God in Florida prison facilities. He has also written a book on his life story titled “Sword From Haven” Bro. Clary relies on the Lord to direct his path and he’s thankful for his pastor’s biblical preaching and teaching.

September 2016 is also known as National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month which helps promote resources and awareness around the issues of suicide prevention, how you can help others and how to talk about suicide without increasing the risk of harm.

Suicidal thoughts can affect anyone regardless of age, gender or background. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people and is often the result of mental health conditions that effect people when they are most vulnerable. Suicidal thoughts and suicide occur too frequently but should not be considered common and can indicate more serious issues. Stay Healthy Bruschetta Chicken Bake Prep Total 40 min Serves 6, 1 cup each

What You'll Need 1 can (14-1/2 oz.) diced tomatoes, undrained 1 pkg. (6 oz.) STOVE TOP Stuffing Mix for Chicken 1/2 cup water 2 cloves garlic, minced 1-1/2 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces 1 tsp. dried basil leaves 1 cup KRAFT 2% Milk Shredded Mozzarella Cheese How to Make It  Heat oven to 400ºF.  Mix tomatoes, stuffing mix, water and garlic just until stuffing mix is moistened.  Place chicken in 3-qt. casserole sprayed with cooking spray; sprinkle with basil and cheese.  Top with stuffing mixture. Bake 30 min. or until chicken is done.
