Shining Light…

r. Hudson was born and raised in Columbus Georgia and graduated from the William H. Spencer High School. He is married to Freddie Jean West and is the father of three children and the proud grandfather of two granddaughters.

As the founder of ReBirth Missionary Baptist Church (1994), ReBirth Children’s Center and ReBirth Academy (A Hillsborough County Charter School). Dr. Hudson exudes an energy and vision to help others.

Being a preachers kid helped to mold him into a person that always wants to help other people. “I remember my home room teacher Mrs. Evelyn Hudson (No relationship) in the Eleventh grade asking the class what they most wanted to do with their lives”. My reply was “I want to help people”. That desire has come full circle in 67 years of living and in particular 39 years of ministry. Upon first coming to Tampa as a new Pastor in 1989 I helped Mrs. Cloe Coney to start a Food Pantry at the Lee Davis Service Center that helping has not stopped. After 37 years of pastoring from Alabama to Florida I have been privileged to touch the lives of many people throughout the southeast and beyond. Noted as a “Preacher’s Preacher”, Dr. Hudson holds a BS degree in Psychology from Columbus University, a Masters of Divinity from the (ITC) Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia and a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary of Dayton, Ohio. “At this stage of my ministry and life I continue to desire to help people any way I can”. Recognizing That the Torch must be passed, we at Rebirth are actively “Looking for Joshua” to carry us to the other side. Like a Moses we have fought long and hard to fulfill the Mission entrusted to us too “Lead God’s people into Spiritual Truth”. Our journey is coming to a close whether five years from now, ten or fifteen years from now, I don’t know. The one thing that I do know is that we must pass the baton. It has become obvious that a younger, more robust leader most take the helm so that this mission may be fulfilled. The work does not stop for us, there is so much more to do. The Good News must be preached to the poor, freedom must be proclaimed to the prisoners, and recovery of sight for the blind and the releasing of the oppressed. We have been called to be Servant-Leaders in the mode of those biblical servants of old. So we will continue to serve while looking for Joshua and the next generation. I want to extend a personal invitation to you to come and help us to, “Lead God’s people into Spiritual Truth”. Bring your dreams, your goals and your ambitions. Bring your wives, your husbands and your children to the work. Help to teach those that do not know and do not know that they don’t know. This event is put on every year by the Tampa Housing Authority to provide their residents and children with school supplies, safety programs, educational events and a fun filled day. The Tampa Police Department District Two Crime Prevention Unit will also be present to speak and hand out safety information in regards to the upcoming school year such as personal safety and bullying.

Praise

Praise is an expression with enthusiasm of words and songs setting forth the glory, and goodness of God through worship with honor and thanksgiving. According to Genesis 29:35 Leah the wife of Jacob conceived and boar a third son for her husband and she said "Now I will praise the Lord" Praise ye the Lord because the Lord is good, he has made us, and we are his people. We as Christians praise God with the word "Hallelujah" this word has not been found in scripture but the word "Alkluia" is the Greek form of hallelujah. Hallelujah, praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord with a whole heart and sing praises to his holy word for God is the king over all the earth. The hymnologist wrote "O magnify the Lord for he is worthy to be praised." Even Jesus and his disciples sang a praise him after the last supper, and when they had sung they went out into the Mount of Olives. Psalm 107:31 reads, “Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” Praise the Lord for in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name, one. Sing ye with the spirit and sing with the understanding of praise. Glory belongs only to one God.

Each year at this time, we commemorate the estimated 300,000 children and their families in the United States who face the everyday challenges of living with juvenile arthritis (JA) and related diseases. Juvenile arthritis is an umbrella term used to describe the many autoimmune and inflammatory conditions or pediatric rheumatic diseases that can develop in children and teens. The various types of juvenile arthritis share many common symptoms, like pain, joint swelling, redness and warmth, but each type of JA is distinct and has its own unique characteristics and how it affects the body. Juvenile Arthritis Causes: No known cause has been pinpointed for most forms of juvenile arthritis, nor is there evidence to suggest that toxins, foods or allergies cause children to develop JA. Juvenile Arthritis Symptoms: Each of the different types of JA have their own set of signs and symptoms. You can read more specifics about the diseases by visiting the Arthritis Foundation’s website dedicated to pediatric rheumatic diseases, KidsGetArthritisToo. Juvenile Arthritis Diagnosis: The most important step in properly treating juvenile arthritis is getting an accurate diagnosis. The diagnostic process can be long and detailed. There is no single blood test that confirms any type of JA. In children, the key to diagnosis is a careful physical exam, along with a thorough medical history. Juvenile Arthritis Treatment: Unfortunately, there is no cure for juvenile arthritis, although with early diagnosis and aggressive treatment, remission is possible. The goal of treatment is to relieve inflammation, control pain and improve the child’s quality of life. Juvenile Arthritis Self Care: An important part of JA treatment is teaching the child the importance of how to follow the treatment prescribed by the healthcare team. Self care also involves helping the child address the emotional and social effects of the disease.

Types of Juvenile Arthritis Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Considered the most common form of arthritis, JIA includes six subtypes: oligo arthritis, polyarthritis, systemic, enthesitis-related, juvenile psoriatic arthritis or undifferentiated. Juvenile dermatomyositis. An inflammatory disease, juvenile dermatomyositis causes muscle weakness and a skin rash on the eyelids and knuckles. Juvenile lupus. Lupus is an autoimmune disease. The most common form is systemic lupus erythematosus, or SLE. Lupus can affect the joints, skin, kidneys, blood and other areas of the body. Juvenile scleroderma. Scleroderma, which literally means “hard skin,” describes a group of conditions that causes the skin to tighten and harden. Kawasaki disease. This disease causes blood-vessel inflammation that can lead to heart complications. Mixed connective tissue disease. This disease may include features of arthritis, lupus dermatomyositis and scleroderma, and is associated with very high levels of a particular antinuclear antibody called antiRNP.
