Use Bright Lights If you have high beams, don't hesitate to use them. Brighter lights will make you more visible. Remember to switch them off when an approaching vehicle is within 500 feet. ● Use Centre Lane Utilize the middle lane whenever possible when driving on a multi-lane highway to give deer feeding beside roadways a wide berth. ● Wear a Seat belt. Even though it may seem apparent, it's worth saying again. If you're wearing a seat belt, you'll be less likely to suffer severe injuries in a deer-vehicle incident. ● Lean toward Door You should lean toward the door frame if you hit a vast animal, not the middle of the vehicle. It is common for animals to roll over the car when they are hit head-on, breaking the glass and roof in the process.

Even if you collide with an animal, don't try to help it. You should pull over and call the police as soon as possible. If you don't have a police report, many insurance companies won't payout for your damages.
