The Joe Kozik Gonzaga Athletic Hall of Fame pays tribute to Gonzaga’s rich athletic legacy by recognizing outstanding contributions made by athletes, coaches, administrators, and teams.
The Hall of Fame also highlights the central role athletic competition plays in the lives of our students and our school community—sportsmanship, teamwork, grit, and discipline are just some of the things that the young men of Eye Street learn and experience through sports.
Every year, the Gonzaga Hall of Fame Selection Committee takes nominations from the school community and selects a new class of inductees, who are honored at a ceremony and reception on campus. Our goal is to celebrate those who have contributed significantly to the program’s growth and spirit, and who continue to reflect Ignatian values such as integrity, perseverance and humility.

He quarterbacked the freshman team to its first WCAC championship before going on to become a three-year varsity starter at both quarterback and safety.
Leonard was elected captain of both the baseball and football teams and led each program to multiple championship series and game appearances. His standout play earned him selection to the Catholic Standard football “Dream Team” in 1982.
Beyond Eye Street , Leonard continued his football career at both the University of Delaware and Westchester State University.

ON YOUR INDUCTION TO THE

GONZAGA CLASS OF 2004 FOOTBALL & TRACK
Doug Dutch was a dynamic multi-sport athlete who excelled in both track and football at Gonzaga. A four-year varsity track point-scorer as a sprinter, he also earned three varsity football letters while contributing as a defensive back, wide receiver, and kick returner.
Dutch set Gonzaga’s outdoor track and field school records in the 100, 200, and 400 meters, showcasing his elite speed and versatility. On the football field, he recorded 60 receptions for over 1,000 yards and 25 touchdowns on offense, while also totaling 207 tackles and 10 interceptions on defense over three seasons.
His outstanding senior campaign earned him 2003 District of Columbia Gatorade Player of the Year honors, recognition as the No. 2 prospect in the DC/Maryland area, SuperPrep All-American status, and distinction as the first Gonzaga player selected to play in the Army All-American Game.
Beyond Eye Street, Dutch continued his football career as a four-year contributor at the University of Michigan before playing in the NFL with the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens.

From 2014 through 2016, Gonzaga Rugby compiled a remarkable 64-3-1 record, establishing one of the most dominant runs in high school rugby history. After five consecutive years of finishing either second or third at Nationals, the Eagles broke through to capture their first National Championship with a dramatic 27-26 victory on May 17, 2014. Led by captains Ben Cima, Jimmy Ronan, and Chuckie Dupont, the win marked a watershed moment for the program.
Gonzaga continued its ascent in 2015, as eight returning starters— including captains Jack Iscaro, Jack Carroll, and Nick Skalka— solidified the team’s place among the nation’s elite. The Eagles secured a second consecutive championship with a 13-3 victory in the title game.
On May 21, 2016, Gonzaga completed its historic run, as captains Patrick Sheehy, Dante Lopresti, and Patrick Hesse led the team to a hard-fought 7-6 victory in challenging conditions, cementing the program’s dynasty.
All three championship victories came against Jesuit High School of Sacramento, California. Gonzaga remains the only high school program to win three consecutive national titles since the championship’s inception in 1981.
