Sometimes in life you don’t realise what you’ve achieved until somebody else says: ‘Hey, look what you’ve done!’

That’s what the nomination to Room to Reward gave me. It made me think:

‘Wow, I really have done something here that made a difference.’
I’m so grateful. We still talk about it.

End of Life

Room to Reward is a unique volunteer-recognition charity created to say ‘thank you’ to the Hidden Heroes – inspirational volunteers who give up their time to make a difference to those who need it most. Our hospitality partners donate their unsold rooms, charities and community groups nominate their Hidden Heroes for a break

HowItWorks…

 Hotels donate 1/2 short (one or two night) breaks in rooms that would otherwise go unsold.

 Hotels are able to ‘close out’ busy periods so all booking enquiries are outside of these times.

 Each booking request contains three preferred dates so hotels can choose the option that suits business needs.

 All breaks are subject to availability and there is no pressure or expectation to accept a booking.

 Once a hotel receives a booking request, they will be removed from the booking platform for three months.

 Once a hotel has given a maximum of two breaks, they will be removed from the platform until the following year.

 Standard R2R breaks are for 2 people (the nominated volunteer +1), 1 or 2 nights, B&B basis.

 Nominated volunteers could be from any of 1100+ voluntary org partners.

Chapter is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of people experiencing mental ill-health in West Cheshire and the surrounding areas. We assist people living with mental ill-health by providing a pathway of support that gives hope, the opportunity to make connections, and vital new skills. Our charity provides one-to-one support, group activities, workshops that empower people to manage their own wellbeing, a telephone listening service, and professional mental health training for local groups and workplaces. We support people with a range of mental health needs, from those with a diagnosis of a serious mental illness (e.g. schizophrenia or bipolar disorder) to people experiencing mild or moderate mental ill-health. Volunteers are essential to the work we do, and without the commitment and dedication of people like Beth, many of our services would not be able to operate.

Volunteer: Beth. Break Taken @ The Royal Oak Hotel, Snowdonia Hospitality. 28/03/2025

We had a wonderful break! My friend came with me and we just had the most fantastic time.
Betwys Y Coed is one of my favourite places, so the opportunity to visit and the memories made will stay with me for a long, long time.
Thank you!

Dave – Relate: Severn and Wye

Dave volunteers each week for us to input hand-written notes into an online database.

The Break – Royal Victoria Hotel, Snowdonia

Although this is a monotonous task, and very time consuming, Dave never complains. He just gets his head down and gets on with it. The handwriting of our counsellors can sometimes be challenging but Dave is tenacious – in fact he never gives up! Even in the snow, Dave walks to our office to complete his work. Dave has to undergo DBS checking and is subject to a very strict confidentiality policy. He is consistent and reliable in his work and we are able to place a great deal of trust in him. The size of our organisation means we are unable to employ an administrator to do this work and Dave’s contribution is invaluable to us. Dave expects nothing in return for helping us –he recognises how stretched our resources are and he truly is someone who enjoys giving something back to his community. We are delighted to nominate Dave as our Hidden Hero – he really is a wonderful man

We were very excited to be awarded a two night break, even more so when we found one of the hotels in the scheme was at the base of Snowdon, a place we had wanted to visit for some time. We crammed a lot into our two day break! With a lovely hotel, magnificent scenery and glorious weather, this was a

“This was a short break that we will always remember!”
