With a rich and interesting history, The Addington was designed by JF Abercromby in 1913 and first opened for play in 1919, soon becoming a favourite of the rich and famous. Reaching its heyday in the 1930s, it was written about by many famous writers of the time and played host to film stars, golfing legends and even royalty – King George VI became Patron in 1937!

THE OLD COURSE

Designed by Willie Park Junior and opened in 1907, this beautiful parkland course has a timeless charm and enjoyable challenges. The smooth greens are quick and undulating, with some original features blending well with recent course changes. Recently voted 11th in the Top 100 London Courses.

THE NEW COURSE

This remarkable championship course opened in 2001. Its large, fast greens are well protected by strategic bunkering, not to mention a number of water hazards including the River Mole which meanders through the course. It is built in complete contrast to the Old Course. Recently voted 41st in the Top 100 London Courses. Signature Hole, 18th – 92-yard, par 3 that plays across the River Mole and towards the clubhouse and outside terrace. This provides a natural gallery to help create a great finish to any competition or friendly round.

025 marks the 136th anniversary of Epsom Golf Club, founded in 1889, which has a reputation for being one of the friendliest private members clubs in Surrey and has proven to be a popular venue for golf societies for many years. The 18 hole course is unique, offering a wide variety of holes which provide a challenge for golfers of all levels, and is renowned for its undulating year-round greens that test even the smoothest of putters. An advantage of Epsom is that the course lies on the top of the North Downs and this brings two benefits: firstly, because the subsoil is chalk the course is seldom affected by rain, making it a great winter destination, and secondly, visitors enjoy stunning panoramic views of London’s iconic skyline.

The clubhouse offers an intriguing mixture of the traditional – it happens to be the oldest purpose-built clubhouse in Surrey with a 100 year old snooker room – and the modern – offering spacious contemporary changing facilities. The club’s catering team ensures a high level of cuisine providing a wide range of fresh food options. Epsom can offer two alternatives for dining facilities away from the common areas. 15th hole – Step onto the tee of our 455 yard par 4 and you will soon discover why it’s our signature hole. A long and accurate tee shot is required to hit the leftside of the fairway at the top of the hill. The perfect drive will leave a mid to long iron approach to a wellguarded green with out of bounds looming left and long.

Once you’ve striped your tee shot down the tree lined fairway towards the lakes, you must thread between the lake and well placed bunker. A real risk and reward hole that has been known to make or break rounds. 18th Hole – As you play back to the clubhouse, lakes once again need to be avoided on this 430 yard par 4 on both the tee shot and the approach. A narrow entrance protected by lakes and bunkers requires an accurate second shot. All of this, in front of the clubhouse and onlookers. Will you be walking onto the patio with your head held high?

The Club can trace its roots back to 1608, when courtiers of the Scottish King, James VI, who became James I of England, sought out a suitable place near Greenwich Palace to play a game that had yet to find favour with those south of the border. Over 410 years later, golf is stronger than ever at the Club, with the par-71 course – which was created by Tom Dunn in 1892 and added to and redesigned by the great James Braid in the late 1920s – occupying classically landscaped parkland just nine miles from the City of London. Designed by former Open Champion, James Braid, the course measures 6174 yards and its fairways are flanked by trees all around. Salmons Brook winds its way through the heart of the course and the moat, an ancient English Heritage site, is located at the back of the 17th Green.

Progressive and forward thinking, Enfield Golf Club has a fresh approach to all golfers and visitors needs and prides itself on offering excellent service and a superior customer ‘experience’. At 6,429 yards from the Medal tees the course is not long. The course has a good drainage record with very few hole and course closures in the winter and in summer the ball really does run on the fast well-manicured fairways. The best scores result from being straight and having a good short game rather than long hitting that doesn’t follow the fairway. Recent drainage works on greens have improved the course even further, coupled with an extensive bunker project including a dedicate bunker irrigation system.

enham Golf Club is one of the leading parkland courses in Buckinghamshire. The Club was founded in 1910 when work on the construction of the course started and existing farm buildings dating back to the 16th Century were converted into a clubhouse. The parkland course, designed by Harry Colt, opened for play on the 29th May 1911. It challenges golfers of all abilities whilst being very playable and benefits from players being able to start from both the 1st and 10th tees due to their close proximity to the Clubhouse. The course measures 6493 yards from the back tees and 5595 yards from the front tees. The men’s par is 70 and the ladies is 71. All four sets of tees are rated for both men and ladies.

At the Club’s request, a railway station called Denham Golf Club was opened in 1912. It continues to serve the Club today and is only a 20 minute journey from London Marylebone.

Laid out in two loops, the 18 holes comprise 5 par 3’s which all bear the stamp of Colt with elevated greens well-guarded by bunkers, and two par 5’s making up a par 69. The magnificent 18th hole is one of the best finishing holes in Hampshire.

Since then, it has gone on to establish a formidable reputation, acting as a regional qualifier for the Open Championship between 1998 and 2003, and an England Golf Championship venue.

The surroundings alone are worth a visit with the course lined by heather, gorse, silver birch, oak, and fir trees. The fine sandy soil, firm turf, and the heathland ‘rough’ guarantee the quality of golf which can be played year-round.

The club is home to the Selborne Salver, one of Britain’s most prestigious amateur events, and is regularly voted one of the top 100 courses in England.

The West Course is formed by the upgraded front nine holes which originally opened in 1997 and the previous front nine holes which opened in 2016. The downland style course, located on an attractive undulating landscape with magnificent external views, features open grassland interspersed by newly planted clumps of indigenous woodland. Although a dry, fast running course, water will be a significant feature on The West Course with a series of four lakes located in natural valleys built into the course layout. The lakes are linked by a natural looking chalk stream which meanders through a valley, crossing the 14th fairway twice, before running into the small lake which wraps around the left-hand side and rear of the green. Seven of the holes on The West Course will have water features directly in play. A feature of particular note is the new 8th green and the lake as inspired by the iconic 10th hole at The Belfry, which should provide a risk and reward challenge. A visit is a must.

The front nine is laid out on flatter land to the west of the clubhouse and the 414yard sixth is certainly the most challenging on the way out, with out of bounds to the left of a fairway that leads to a two tiered green.

The back nine is more undulating and the dogleg right 14th is a testing par 5 with well-placed bunkers and trees. The maturity of the setting contrasts well against the modern, target golf design of the holes where greens have been constructed to USGA standard, while Orchardleigh’s practice facilities are first-class with a full-length covered range, bunkers and chipping and putting greens. tinchcombe Hill Golf Club is located on the southern edge of the Cotswold escarpment above the Severn Valley. With breath-taking views, the course was described by the late Henry Longhurst as one of the most scenic courses in Europe. By modern standards the course is not long (Par 68 Gents / 71 Ladies) but is a challenging test for golfers of all abilities. Parts of the course are Sites of Scientific Interest and in order to protect wildflowers and birds, areas of rough are allowed to flourish.

he Carnoustie Burnside Course oozes character and from the back tees is a splendid test of golf, the 5th and 14th particularly, providing dramatic challenges for those who strive to gain their par 3. Here, in 1953 is where the great Ben Hogan shot 70 to help him qualify for the Open Championship which he subsequently won. Origins of The Burnside Course go back over 100 years. In 1982, 9 holes were laid out as an ‘Auxiliary’ course, to relieve pressure on The Championship Course, allowing visitors a gentler introduction to the pleasures of golf. This was one of the first instances of a club adding a second course – predating the New Course at St Andrews by two years. The

course evolved over time, eventually getting to 18 holes in 1914. The next major change to the course was in 1934, when it was lengthened and strengthened and finally given a proper name – The Burnside. The course, now measuring just over 6,000 yards, is a tidy and challenging venue – very much one of the ‘hidden gems’ that Scottish golf is blessed with. As its name suggests, the course winds over and around the Barry Burn, and is protected not only by that feature, but also by narrow fairways and small greens. The bunkering is minimalist, but all are well placed to influence the golfer’s strategy. This course more than holds its own against some of the better courses in the country.

A championship links course which benefits from its location on the west coast, giving mild winters and all year-round playing conditions. The Club is proud to have been selected as the host venue for the 2023 R&A Senior’s Home Internationals as well as the 2025

The course itself is built on a narrow strip of coastal land, bordered on one side by agricultural land and on the other by the beach. Out of Bounds comes into play in 12 of the holes encouraging straight hitters. The course is generally flat but has many undulations. This, when combined with the sea breezes, adds considerably to the challenge.
