Druh Belts & Buckles Take Golf Market by Storm Druh Belts & Buckles, a unique range of stylish belts and buckles, were only launched just over a year ago by Yorkshireman and former touring pro Simon Hurd but already they have taken the golf market by storm.

Hurdy, as he is known on Tour, has in the past been known for the distinctive and colourful pork pie hats he dons on the golf course, but not for much longer as the overwhelming success of Druh has now placed him firmly on the golf fashion map. The immediate impact of the belts is according to Hurd down to the fact that they offer the discerning golfer an extensive selection of stylish handmade leather and snakeskin belts in sumptuous classic and chic casual styles and can be as outrageous or classical as the wearer wishes. Druh Belts are available in leather and water snakeskin in a variety of colours ranging from funky pastels and eye-catching metallics and in different embossed styles from crocodile to ostrich effect for the more adventurous golfers whilst also catering for the more traditional golfer who prefers his belts in black, white, brown or blue. Druh’s interchangeable buckles all featuring the signature ‘db’ logo in brushed nickel, polished silver or gold, diamante and enamel mean each belt can be customised to the individual taste of the wearer. A host of European pros such as David Howell, Graeme Storm and Simon Kahn can be seen

sporting Druh Belts & Buckles on tour whilst tour champions Robert Karlsson of Sweden, Dane Thomas Bjorn and Ireland’s Paul McGinley all act as brand ambassadors for Druh. World number one Lee Westwood of England has also recently joined the stable of Druh ambassadors that are loving and wearing Druh. Druh has also proved a hit with the lady pros, so much so that the brand designed a range of signature flower buckles especially for girls. The new range features a pretty flower motif encrusted with a sparkling diamante ‘db’ set off by a variety of enamel infills in pink, purple, red and yellow as well as the more traditional white and black. Now such characters as flamboyant American Christina Kim, Jimin Kang of South Korea, Sweden’s Sophie Gustafson and Becky Brewerton of Wales are all sporting a bit of Druh ‘flower power’ both on and off the course. “I have always taken an interest in fashion both on and off the golf course, so it seemed a natural sideline for me to go into after I stopped playing golf,” says Hurd, always smart dresser with well-tailored attire. “I have a particular passion for belts and traveling the world, I have always found it difficult to find stylish, good quality belts. So I

started designing my own and commissioned a local leather craftsman in Thailand to handmake them. So many friends and fellow golfers liked them that I decided it wouldn’t be a bad idea to start a business out of it. “Golf gear is often perceived as rather staid and dull so I wanted to have a bit of fun designing belts and buckles that were a little bit funky, yet stylish, and certainly they have been an instant hit with pro golfers all over the world. And now it is the chance for all those amateurs out there to smarten up their golf look with one of my Druh belts!” Before selling his Druh Belts & Buckles, Hurd was a regular on the Asian Tour after playing on The European Tour on and off for the last 10 years. In his last year of full time play in 2007, he was ranked 49th in the Order of Merit and is yet to claim his first win in the Far East. Druh Belts & Buckles make the perfect present for anyone who has an eye for fashion or simply likes looking good. Available through the internet at www. druhbeltsandbuckles.com at £89 for leather and £159 for snakeskin allows golfers to design their own unique belt by choosing their own belt and buckle combination.
