Gamble Sands is a true links course set in the high desert of central Washington with sandy soil, traditional fine fescue grasses, firm playing surfaces, wide fairways, and massive green complexes. In the golf course’s planning stages, the resort’s owners took great care in choosing the best designer for the resort’s first course, and David McLay Kidd was selected. The Scotsman came with a prestigious list of accomplishments in the world of links golf that included the famed first course at Bandon Dunes and the Castle Course at St. Andrews. Gamble Sands offers a very playable experience that weighs in at 7,169 yards from the back tees and is akin to some of Kidd’s earlier work at Bandon, which emphasizes fun above all else. This is illustrated throughout the golf course, especially on the reachable par-4 2nd hole with its breathtaking views of the Columbia River and infinity green complex. With on-site lodging and true farm-to-table dining at Danny Boy Bar & Grill, GambleSands is fast becoming the West Coast’s next great links golf destination.

Genoa Lakes Golf Club - Lakes Course

1 Genoa Lakes Drive, Genoa NV | 775.782.4653 ext 1 | GenoaLakes.com

Stunning surroundings and luxurious facilities on a well conceived country-style course at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains—it’s little wonder the Lakes Course has USA Today proclaiming it among the “Top Ten Courses to Die For.” But Genoa’s Lakes Course promises to radically enhance your living instead, thanks, among many other things, to the stirring natural landscape upon which PGA Champion Peter Jacobsen and John Harbottle III have designed an utterly engaging test of your golfing skills. The Lakes Course, along with its sister Ranch Course just down the road, enjoys semi-private status in its high desert wonderland. The Lakes Course boasts rolling fairways and lush wetlands, courtesy of the nearby Carson River. Water comes into play on 14 holes, meaning long straight driving will serve you well. Just 15 minutes from Carson City and 30 minutes to Tahoe, the Lakes course gives its guests a feeling of total seclusion and privacy along with a test of golfing you’ll find nowhere else.
