THE head professional at Aberdovey Golf Club, Andrew Humphreys, has beaten 219 other club professional shops, to win the prestigious TGI Professional Shop of the Year award, after an incredible couple of years in his post. It also marks the first time the award has been won by a Welsh club.

The award recognises growth and development within the industry along with manufacturers feedback and reviews within the game.

Andrew, who took over the running of the pro shop in 2020 just before Covid hit the UK, said: “I hope this award helps to continue to showcase the wonderful local area and golf in Mid Wales. The team have put a lot of work into not only the professional retail outlet we are proud to call home, but also coaching and developing golf in the local area and it is great to see the number of new golfers we have brought to the game over the past few years.”

He added: “We aren’t stopping here, in fact we have only just begun, I have big plans for the club,the course and the local area and I look forward to welcoming more and more golfers to Aberdovey.”

The pro shop at Aberdovey is open to the public and stocks a wide range of the leading brands in the game, including TaylorMade,Titleist, Ping, FootJoy and many more.Also playing host to a stateof-the-art Trackman fitting studio and a full range of club repair and coaching facilities.
